2 Cronache 15

1 Lo spirito di Dio investì Azaria, figlio di Obed.

Then the Spirite of God came vpon Azariah the sonne of Obed.

2 Costui, uscito incontro ad Asa, gli disse: «Asa e voi tutti di Giuda e di Beniamino, ascoltatemi! Il Signore sarà con voi, se voi sarete con lui; se lo ricercherete, si lascerà trovare da voi, ma se lo abbandonerete, vi abbandonerà.

And he went out to meete Asa, and said vnto him, O Asa, and all Iudah, and Beniamin, heare ye me. The Lord is with you, while ye be with him: and if ye seeke him, he wil be founde of you, but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you.

3 Per lungo tempo in Israele non c'era il vero Dio, né un sacerdote che insegnasse, né una legge.

Nowe for a long season Israel hath bene without the true God, and without Priest to teach and without Lawe.

4 Ma, nella miseria, egli fece ritorno al Signore, Dio di Israele; lo ricercarono ed Egli si lasciò trovare da loro.

But whosoeuer returned in his affliction to the Lord God of Israel, and sought him, he was founde of them.

5 In quei tempi non c'era pace per nessuno, perché grandi perturbazioni c'erano fra gli abitanti dei vari paesi.

And in that time there was no peace to him, that did goe out and goe in: but great troubles were to all the inhabitants of the earth.

6 Una nazione cozzava contro l'altra, una città contro l'altra, perché Dio li affliggeva con tribolazioni di ogni genere.

For nation was destroyed of nation, and citie of citie: for God troubled them with all aduersitie.

7 Ma voi siate forti e le vostre mani non crollino, perché ci sarà un salario per il vostro lavoro».

Be ye strong therefore, and let not your handes be weake: for your worke shall haue a rewarde.

8 Quando Asa ebbe udito queste parole e la profezia, riprese animo. Eliminò gli idoli da tutto il paese di Giuda e di Beniamino e dalle città che egli aveva conquistate sulle montagne di Efraim; rinnovò l'altare del Signore, che si trovava di fronte al vestibolo del Signore.

And when Asa heard these wordes, and the prophesie of Obed the Prophet, he was encouraged, and tooke away the abominations out of all the lande of Iudah, and Beniamin, and out of the cities which he had taken of mount Ephraim, and he renued the altar of the Lord, that was before the porche of the Lord.

9 Radunò tutti gli abitanti di Giuda e di Beniamino e quanti, provenienti da Efraim, da Manàsse e da Simeone, abitavano in mezzo a loro come stranieri; difatti da Israele erano venuti da lui in grande numero, avendo constatato che il Signore era con lui.

And he gathered all Iudah and Beniamin, and the strangers with them out of Ephraim, and Manasseh, and out of Simeon: for there fell many to him out of Israel, when they sawe that the Lord his God was with him.

10 Si radunarono in Gerusalemme nel terzo mese dell'anno quindicesimo del regno di Asa.

So they assembled to Ierusalem in the third moneth, in the fifteenth yere of the reigne of Asa.

11 In quel giorno sacrificarono al Signore parte della preda che avevano riportata: settecento buoi e settemila pecore.

And they offred vnto the Lord the same time of the spoyle, which they had brought, euen seuen hundreth bullockes, and seuen thousande sheepe.

12 Si obbligarono con un'alleanza a ricercare il Signore, Dio dei loro padri, con tutto il cuore e con tutta l'anima.

And they made a couenant to seeke the Lord God of their fathers, with all their heart, and with all their soule.

13 Per chiunque, grande o piccolo, uomo o donna, non avesse ricercato il Signore, Dio di Israele, c'era la morte.

And whosoeuer will not seeke the Lord God of Israel, shalbe slaine, whether he were small or great, man or woman.

14 Giurarono al Signore a voce alta e con acclamazioni, fra suoni di trombe e di corni.

And they sware vnto the Lord with a loude voyce, and with shouting and with trumpets, and with cornets.

15 Tutto Giuda gioì per il giuramento, perché avevano giurato con tutto il cuore e avevano ricercato il Signore con tutto l'ardore e questi si era lasciato trovare da loro e aveva concesso la pace alle frontiere.

And all Iudah reioyced at the othe: for they had sworne vnto the Lord with all their heart, and sought him with a whole desire, and he was founde of them. And the Lord gaue them rest rounde about.

16 Il re destituì dalla sua dignità di regina Maaca, madre di Asa, perché aveva eretto un abominio in onore di Asera. Asa demolì questo abominio, lo fece a pezzi e lo bruciò nel torrente Cedron.

And King Asa deposed Maachah his mother from her regencie, because she had made an idole in a groue: and Asa brake downe her idole, and stamped it, and burnt it at the brooke Kidron.

17 Ma non scomparvero le alture da Israele, anche se il cuore di Asa si mantenne integro per tutta la vita.

But the hie places were not taken away out of Israel: yet the heart of Asa was perfit all his dayes.

18 Egli fece portare nel tempio le cose consacrate da suo padre e quelle consacrate da lui stesso, consistenti in argento, oro e vasellame.

Also he brought into the house of God the things that his father had dedicate, and that he had dedicate, siluer, and golde, and vessels.

19 Non ci fu guerra fino all'anno trentacinquesimo del regno di Asa.

And there was no warre vnto the fiue and thirtieth yeere of the reigne of Asa.
