Zefanya 2

1 Hai bangsa yang tidak tahu malu, sadarlah

Assemble, be gathered together, O people not worthy to be loved.

2 sebelum kamu layu dan kering seperti bunga! Insaflah sebelum tiba hari kemarahan TUHAN, dan kamu ditimpa murka TUHAN yang menyala-nyala itu.

Until the decree settles accounts, the day like dust is passing away, before which the wrath of the fury of the Lord may overcome you, before which the day of the anger of the Lord may overcome you.

3 Kembalilah kepada TUHAN, hai semua orang yang rendah hati di negeri ini, dan semua orang yang mentaati perintah-perintah-Nya. Bertindaklah menurut kehendak TUHAN, dan rendahkanlah dirimu di hadapan-Nya. Siapa tahu kamu akan luput dari penghukuman pada hari TUHAN menunjukkan kemarahan-Nya.

Seek the Lord, all you meek of the earth; you who have been working are his judgment. Seek the just, seek the meek. So then, in some way, you might be hidden in the day of the fury of the Lord.

4 Di kota Gaza tak seorang pun akan diselamatkan. Askelon akan sepi tanpa penghuni. Penduduk Asdod akan diusir dalam sebuah serangan mendadak di siang bolong dan penduduk Ekron akan disuruh pergi dari kota mereka.

For Gaza will be destroyed, and Ashkelon will be in the desert; they will expel Ashdod at midday, and Ekron will be eradicated.

5 Terkutuklah kamu, hai orang Filistin, bangsa yang tinggal di sepanjang pantai. TUHAN telah menetapkan hukuman bagimu. Ia akan membinasakan kamu, tak seorang pun dari kamu akan luput.

Woe to you who inhabit the coast of the sea, you people of perdition. The word of the Lord is over you, Canaan, the land of the Philistines, and I will disperse you, so that not one inhabitant will be left.

6 Daerahmu di dekat laut menjadi padang rumput; gubug-gubug gembala dan kandang-kandang domba akan dibangun di situ.

And the coastline of the sea will be a resting place for shepherds and a fence line for cattle.

7 Penduduk Yehuda yang dapat lolos, akan menduduki daerahmu itu. Mereka akan menggembalakan ternak di tanah itu, dan pada malam hari mereka akan tidur di rumah-rumah orang Askelon. Sebab TUHAN, Allah mereka akan melindungi mereka lagi dan menjadikan mereka makmur kembali.

And it will be the line of him who will remain from the house of Judah. There they will pasture. In the houses of Ashkelon, they will rest towards evening. For the Lord their God will visit them, and he will turn away their captivity.

8 TUHAN Yang Mahakuasa berkata, "Telah Kudengar bangsa-bangsa Moab dan Amon menghina dan mengejek umat-Ku. Mereka membual akan merebut tanah umat-Ku.

I have heard about the disgrace of Moab and the blasphemies of the sons of Ammon, by which they have defamed my people and have been magnified beyond their borders.

9 Demi Aku yang hidup, Allah bangsa Israel, Aku akan menyapu bersih Moab dan Amon seperti Sodom dan Gomora. Negeri-negeri itu akan penuh dengan sumur-sumur garam dan puing-puing abadi yang ditumbuhi semak-semak belukar. Sisa umat-Ku yang terluput akan merampoki penduduknya, dan merebut tanah mereka."

Because of this, as I live, says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, Moab will be like Sodom, and the sons of Ammon like Gomorrah, like the dryness of thorns, and piles of salt, and a desert, all the way to eternity. The remnant of my people will despoil them, and the residue of my nation will possess them.

10 Demikianlah penduduk Moab dan Amon akan dihukum karena kesombongan dan keangkuhan mereka, juga karena mereka telah menghina umat TUHAN Yang Mahakuasa.

This will come upon them for their arrogance, because they have blasphemed and have been magnified over the people of the Lord of hosts.

11 TUHAN akan membuat mereka ketakutan. Ia akan menghancurkan dewa-dewa di bumi. Lalu segala bangsa akan beribadat kepada TUHAN, masing-masing di negerinya sendiri.

The Lord will be a horror over them, and he will reduce all the gods of the earth. And they will adore him, each man from his own place, all the islands of the Gentiles.

12 Juga penduduk Sudan akan dijatuhi hukuman mati oleh TUHAN.

Even so, you Ethiopians, you will be executed by my sword.

13 Setelah itu TUHAN akan menggunakan kuasa-Nya untuk menghancurkan Asyur. Kota Niniwe akan dijadikan sunyi sepi dan gurun yang tandus.

And he will extend his hand over the North, and he will destroy Assur. And he will set the Beautiful in the wilderness, and in an impassable place, and like a desert.

14 Di situ kawanan binatang dan segala macam hewan akan berbaring dan beristirahat. Burung-burung hantu akan bersarang di puing-puing itu dan berteriak-teriak dari jendela-jendela. Burung gagak akan menggaok-gaok di ambang-ambang pintu. Kayu cemara pada bangunan-bangunan kota itu akan habis dicopoti.

And flocks will lie down in its midst, all the beasts of the Gentiles. And the pelican and the hedgehog will stay at its threshold; the voice of the singing bird will be at the window, with the crow above its threshold, for I will diminish her strength.

15 Itulah yang akan terjadi pada kota yang riang gembira itu dan yang menganggap dirinya aman tenteram. Penduduknya mengira bahwa kota mereka itu kota yang paling besar di dunia. Alangkah sepi daerah itu, tak ada penghuninya kecuali binatang-binatang hutan yang bersarang di situ! Setiap orang yang lewat di kota itu akan terkejut dan merasa ngeri.

This is the glorious city, dwelling in trust, which said in her heart, “I am and there is no one other than me.” How has she become a lair for beasts in the desert? All who pass through her will hiss and wag their hand.
