Lukas 1
1 Teofilus yang budiman, Banyak orang sudah berusaha menulis dengan teratur mengenai peristiwa-peristiwa yang telah terjadi di tengah-tengah kita.
Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to draw up a narrative concerning those matters which have been fulfilled among us,
2 Mereka menulis sesuai dengan yang diceritakan kepada kita oleh orang-orang yang melihat sendiri peristiwa-peristiwa itu dari permulaan, dan kemudian menyiarkan kabarnya.
even as they delivered them unto us, who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and ministers of the word,
3 Setelah saya dengan teliti menyelidiki semuanya itu dari permulaannya, saya menganggap baik untuk menulis sebuah laporan yang teratur untuk Tuan.
it seemed good to me also, having traced the course of all things accurately from the first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus;
4 Saya melakukan itu, supaya Tuan tahu bahwa apa yang telah diajarkan kepada Tuan memang benar.
that thou mightest know the certainty concerning the things wherein thou wast instructed.
5 Ketika Herodes menjadi raja negeri Yudea, ada seorang imam bernama Zakharia. Ia termasuk golongan imam-imam Abia. Istrinya bernama Elisabet, juga keturunan imam.
There was in the days of Herod, king of Judæa, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abijah: and he had a wife of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth.
6 Kehidupan suami istri itu menyenangkan hati Allah. Keduanya mentaati semua perintah dan Hukum Tuhan dengan sepenuhnya.
And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.
7 Mereka tidak mempunyai anak sebab Elisabet mandul dan mereka kedua-duanya sudah tua.
And they had no child, because that Elisabeth was barren, and they both were [now] well stricken in years.
8 Pada suatu hari, waktu golongan Abia mendapat giliran, Zakharia menjalankan tugas sebagai imam di hadapan Allah.
Now it came to pass, while he executed the priest’s office before God in the order of his course,
9 Dengan undian, yang biasanya dilakukan oleh imam-imam, Zakharia ditunjuk untuk masuk ke dalam Rumah Tuhan dan membakar kemenyan.
according to the custom of the priest’s office, his lot was to enter into the temple of the Lord and burn incense.
10 Sementara upacara pembakaran kemenyan diadakan, orang banyak berdoa di luar.
And the whole multitude of the people were praying without at the hour of incense.
11 Pada waktu itu malaikat Tuhan menampakkan diri kepada Zakharia. Malaikat itu berdiri di sebelah kanan meja tempat membakar kemenyan.
And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense.
12 Ketika Zakharia melihat malaikat itu, ia bingung dan takut.
And Zacharias was troubled when he saw [him], and fear fell upon him.
13 Tetapi malaikat itu berkata, "Jangan takut, Zakharia! Allah sudah mendengar doamu. Istrimu Elisabet akan melahirkan seorang anak laki-laki. Engkau harus memberi nama Yohanes kepadanya.
But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: because thy supplication is heard, and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.
14 Engkau akan sangat gembira dan banyak orang akan bersukaria bila anak itu lahir nanti!
And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth.
15 Ia akan menjadi orang besar menurut pandangan Tuhan, dan ia tidak akan minum anggur atau minuman keras. Sejak lahir ia akan dikuasai oleh Roh Allah.
For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and he shall drink no wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’s womb.
16 Banyak orang Israel akan dibimbingnya kembali kepada Allah, Tuhan mereka.
And many of the children of Israel shall he turn unto the Lord their God.
17 Ia akan menjadi utusan Tuhan yang kuat dan berkuasa seperti Elia. Ia akan mendamaikan bapak dengan anak, dan orang yang tidak taat akan dipimpinnya kembali pada jalan pikiran yang benar. Dengan demikian ia menyediakan suatu umat yang sudah siap untuk Tuhan."
And he shall go before his face in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient [to walk] in the wisdom of the just; to make ready for the Lord a people prepared [for him].
18 "Bagaimana saya tahu bahwa hal itu akan terjadi?" tanya Zakharia kepada malaikat itu. "Saya sudah tua, dan istri saya juga sudah tua."
And Zacharias said unto the angel, Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife well stricken in years.
19 Malaikat itu menjawab, "Saya ini Gabriel. Saya melayani Allah dan Ialah yang menyuruh saya menyampaikan kabar baik ini kepadamu.
And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and I was sent to speak unto thee, and to bring thee these good tidings.
20 Apa yang saya katakan, akan terjadi pada waktunya. Tetapi karena engkau tidak percaya, engkau nanti tidak dapat berbicara; engkau akan bisu sampai apa yang saya katakan itu terjadi."
And behold, thou shalt be silent and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall come to pass, because thou believedst not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season.
21 Sementara itu, orang-orang terus menantikan Zakharia. Mereka heran mengapa ia begitu lama di dalam Rumah Tuhan.
And the people were waiting for Zacharias, and they marvelled while he tarried in the temple.
22 Dan pada waktu ia keluar, ia tidak dapat berbicara kepada mereka. Ia terus saja memberi isyarat dengan tangannya, dan tetap bisu. Maka orang-orang pun tahu bahwa ia sudah melihat suatu penglihatan di dalam Rumah Tuhan.
And when he came out, he could not speak unto them: and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple: and he continued making signs unto them, and remained dumb.
23 Setelah habis masa tugasnya di Rumah Tuhan, Zakharia pun pulang ke rumah.
And it came to pass, when the days of his ministration were fulfilled, he departed unto his house.
24 Tidak berapa lama kemudian, Elisabet istrinya mengandung, lalu mengurung diri di rumah lima bulan lamanya.
And after these days Elisabeth his wife conceived; and she hid herself five months, saying,
25 Ia berkata, "Akhirnya Tuhan menolong saya dan menghapuskan kehinaan saya."
Thus hath the Lord done unto me in the days wherein he looked upon [me], to take away my reproach among men.
26 Ketika Elisabet sudah mengandung enam bulan, Allah menyuruh malaikat Gabriel pergi ke Nazaret, sebuah kota di daerah Galilea.
Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,
27 Gabriel diutus kepada seorang perawan, bernama Maria. Perawan itu sudah bertunangan dengan seorang yang bernama Yusuf, keturunan Raja Daud.
to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary.
28 Malaikat itu datang kepada Maria dan berkata, "Salam, engkau yang diberkati Tuhan secara istimewa! Tuhan bersama dengan engkau!"
And he came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favored, the Lord [is] with thee.
29 Mendengar perkataan malaikat itu Maria terkejut, sehingga bertanya-tanya dalam hati apa maksud salam itu.
But she was greatly troubled at the saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this might be.
30 Maka malaikat itu berkata kepadanya, "Jangan takut, Maria, sebab engkau berkenan di hati Allah.
And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favor with God.
31 Engkau akan mengandung dan melahirkan seorang anak, yang harus engkau beri nama Yesus.
And behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.
32 Ia akan menjadi agung dan akan disebut Anak Allah Yang Mahatinggi. Tuhan Allah akan menjadikan Dia raja seperti Raja Daud, nenek moyang-Nya.
He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Most High: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:
33 Dan Ia akan memerintah sebagai raja atas keturunan Yakub selama-lamanya. Kerajaan-Nya tidak akan berakhir." (aiōn g165)
and he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. (aiōn g165)
34 "Tetapi saya masih perawan," kata Maria kepada malaikat itu, "bagaimana hal itu bisa terjadi?"
And Mary said unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?
35 Malaikat itu menjawab, "Roh Allah akan datang kepadamu, dan kuasa Allah akan meliputi engkau. Itulah sebabnya anak yang akan lahir itu akan disebut Kudus, Anak Allah.
And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Spirit shall come upon thee, and the power of the Most High shall overshadow thee: wherefore also the holy thing which is begotten shall be called the Son of God.
36 Ingat: Elisabet, sanak saudaramu itu sudah hamil enam bulan, walaupun ia sudah tua dan orang mengatakan bahwa ia mandul.
And behold, Elisabeth thy kinswoman, she also hath conceived a son in her old age; and this is the sixth month with her that was called barren.
37 Sebab untuk Allah tidak ada yang mustahil."
For no word from God shall be void of power.
38 Lalu Maria berkata, "Saya ini hamba Tuhan; biarlah terjadi pada saya seperti yang engkau katakan." Lalu malaikat itu pergi meninggalkan Maria.
And Mary said, Behold, the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.
39 Segera sesudah itu, Maria pergi ke sebuah kota di Yudea di daerah pegunungan.
And Mary arose in these days and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Judah;
40 Ia pergi ke rumah Zakharia, dan ketika masuk, ia memberi salam kepada Elisabet.
and entered into the house of Zacharias and saluted Elisabeth.
41 Dan begitu Elisabet mendengar salam Maria, anak yang di dalam kandungan Elisabet itu bergerak. Maka Elisabet dikuasai oleh Roh Allah,
And it came to pass, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit;
42 lalu berseru, "Engkaulah yang paling diberkati di antara semua wanita! Diberkatilah anak yang akan kaulahirkan itu!
and she lifted up her voice with a loud cry, and said, Blessed [art] thou among women, and blessed [is] the fruit of thy womb.
43 Siapa saya sehingga ibu Tuhan datang kepada saya?
And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come unto me?
44 Begitu saya mendengar salammu, anak dalam kandungan saya bergerak kegirangan.
For behold, when the voice of thy salutation came into mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.
45 Bahagialah engkau, karena percaya bahwa apa yang dikatakan Tuhan kepadamu itu akan terjadi!"
And blessed [is] she that believed; for there shall be a fulfilment of the things which have been spoken to her from the Lord.
46 Maria berkata, "Hatiku memuji Tuhan,
And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord,
47 dan jiwaku bersukaria karena Allah Penyelamatku.
And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.
48 Ia ingat daku, hamba-Nya yang hina! Mulai sekarang semua bangsa mengatakan aku bahagia.
For he hath looked upon the low estate of his handmaid: For behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.
49 Karena Allah Yang Mahakuasa melakukan hal-hal besar padaku. Sucilah nama-Nya.
For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; And holy is his name.
50 Keturunan demi keturunan Tuhan menaruh belas kasihan kepada orang yang takut kepada-Nya.
And his mercy is unto generations and generations On them that fear him.
51 Dengan tangan-Nya yang perkasa Ia menceraiberaikan orang sombong, dan mengacaukan rencana mereka.
He hath showed strength with his arm; He hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their heart.
52 Raja-raja diturunkan-Nya dari takhta dan orang hina ditinggikan.
He hath put down princes from [their] thrones, And hath exalted them of low degree.
53 Orang lapar dipuaskan-Nya dengan segala kebaikan, si kaya diusir dengan hampa.
The hungry he hath filled with good things; And the rich he hath sent empty away.
54 Ia menolong Israel hamba-Nya, menurut janji yang dibuat-Nya dengan nenek moyang kita.
He hath given help to Israel his servant, That he might remember mercy
55 Tuhan tidak lupa janji-Nya, Ia bermurah hati kepada Abraham dan keturunannya sampai selamanya." (aiōn g165)
(As he spake unto our fathers) Toward Abraham and his seed for ever. (aiōn g165)
56 Kira-kira tiga bulan lamanya Maria tinggal dengan Elisabet, baru ia pulang ke rumahnya.
And Mary abode with her about three months, and returned unto her house.
57 Sampailah waktunya bagi Elisabet untuk bersalin. Ia melahirkan seorang anak laki-laki.
Now Elisabeth’s time was fulfilled that she should be delivered; and she brought forth a son.
58 Tetangga-tetangga dan sanak saudaranya mendengar betapa baiknya Tuhan terhadap Elisabet, dan mereka pun ikut bergembira dengan dia.
And her neighbors and her kinsfolk heard that the Lord had magnified his mercy towards her; and they rejoiced with her.
59 Waktu bayi itu berumur delapan hari, mereka datang untuk menyunat dia. Mereka mau menamakan bayi itu Zakharia menurut nama ayahnya,
And it came to pass on the eighth day, that they came to circumcise the child; and they would have called him Zacharias, after the name of his father.
60 tetapi ibunya berkata, "Tidak! Ia harus diberi nama Yohanes."
And his mother answered and said, Not so; but he shall be called John.
61 "Tidak seorang pun dari sanak saudaramu bernama begitu," kata mereka kepadanya.
And they said unto her, There is none of thy kindred that is called by this name.
62 Lalu dengan isyarat, mereka bertanya kepada Zakharia nama apa yang mau diberikannya kepada anaknya.
And they made signs to his father, what he would have him called.
63 Zakharia meminta sebuah batu tulis lalu menulis, "Namanya Yohanes." Mereka semua heran.
And he asked for a writing tablet, and wrote, saying, His name is John. And they marvelled all.
64 Pada waktu itu juga Zakharia dapat berbicara lagi dan memuji Allah.
And his mouth was opened immediately, and his tongue [loosed], and he spake, blessing God.
65 Tetangga-tetangganya semua takut, dan kabar itu tersebar ke seluruh daerah pegunungan Yudea.
And fear came on all that dwelt round about them: and all these sayings were noised abroad throughout all the hill country of Judæa.
66 Semua orang yang mendengar hal itu bertanya dalam hati, "Menjadi apakah anak itu nanti?" Sebab Tuhan menyertai dia.
And all that heard them laid them up in their heart, saying, What then shall this child be? For the hand of the Lord was with him.
67 Zakharia, ayah dari anak itu, dikuasai oleh Roh Allah sehingga ia menyampaikan pesan dari Tuhan. Ia berkata,
And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Spirit, and prophesied, saying,
68 "Mari kita memuji Tuhan, Allah bangsa Israel! Ia telah datang menolong umat-Nya dan membebaskan mereka.
Blessed [be] the Lord, the God of Israel; For he hath visited and wrought redemption for his people,
69 Ia memberi kita penyelamat yang perkasa, keturunan Daud, hamba-Nya.
And hath raised up a horn of salvation for us In the house of his servant David
(As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets that have been from of old), (aiōn g165)
71 untuk menyelamatkan kita dari musuh kita dan dari kuasa orang-orang yang membenci kita.
Salvation from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us;
72 Untuk menunjukkan kemurahan hati-Nya kepada leluhur kita, janji-Nya yang suci itu akan ditepati-Nya.
To show mercy towards our fathers, And to remember his holy covenant;
73 Ia bersumpah kepada Abraham bapak kita, dan berjanji untuk menyelamatkan kita dari musuh kita, supaya kita tanpa takut melayani Dia
The oath which he sware unto Abraham our father,
To grant unto us that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies Should serve him without fear,
75 selalu mengabdi kepada-Nya dan menyenangkan hati-Nya sepanjang hidup kita.
In holiness and righteousness before him all our days.
76 Engkau, hai anakku, akan disebut nabi Allah Yang Mahatinggi. Engkau diutus mendahului Tuhan untuk merintis jalan bagi-Nya,
Yea and thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Most High: For thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to make ready his ways;
77 untuk mewartakan kepada umat-Nya bahwa mereka akan diselamatkan, kalau Allah sudah mengampuni dosa-dosa mereka.
To give knowledge of salvation unto his people In the remission of their sins,
78 Tuhan kita murah hati lagi penyayang; guna menyelamatkan kita Ia datang. Seperti matahari terbit di pagi hari,
Because of the tender mercy of our God, Whereby the dayspring from on high shall visit us,
79 demikianlah Ia memberikan terang-Nya kepada semua orang yang hidup di dalam kegelapan dan ketakutan. Ia membimbing kita pada jalan yang menuju kedamaian."
To shine upon them that sit in darkness and the shadow of death; To guide our feet into the way of peace.
80 Anak Zakharia itu bertambah besar dan bertambah kuat rohnya. Ia tinggal di padang gurun, sampai tiba waktunya ia menyatakan dirinya kepada bangsa Israel.
And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his showing unto Israel.
