Ibrani 3

1 Saudara-saudara sesama Kristen yang sudah dipanggil juga oleh Allah! Coba pikirkan dalam-dalam mengenai Yesus ini! Allah mengutus Dia khusus untuk menjadi Imam Agung dalam agama yang kita anut.

Therefore, my Christian friends, you who, all alike, have received the call from heaven, fix your attention on Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our religion.

2 Ia setia kepada Allah yang sudah memilih Dia untuk pekerjaan itu, seperti juga Musa dahulu setia menunaikan tugasnya di Rumah Allah.

See how faithful he was to the God who appointed him, as Moses was in the whole house of God.

3 Tetapi Yesus patut mendapat kehormatan yang lebih besar daripada Musa. Sebab orang yang membangun rumah harus mendapat kehormatan lebih besar daripada rumah itu sendiri.

He has been deemed worthy of far higher honour than Moses, just as the founder of the house is held in greater regard than the house itself.

4 Memang setiap rumah ada yang membangunnya, tetapi yang membangun segala sesuatu adalah Allah sendiri.

For every house has its founder, and the founder of the universe is God.

5 Musa setia sebagai pelayan di dalam Rumah Allah dan menyampaikan hal-hal yang akan diberitahukan oleh Allah pada masa yang akan datang.

While the faithful service of Moses in the whole house of God was that of a servant, whose duty was to bear testimony to a message still to come,

6 Tetapi Kristus setia sebagai Anak yang bertanggung jawab atas Rumah Allah. Dan kita inilah Rumah Allah, kalau kita tetap bersemangat dan tetap yakin untuk mendapat apa yang kita harapkan.

the faithfulness of Christ was that of a son set over the house of God. And we are his house – if only we retain, unshaken to the end, the courage and confidence inspired by our hope.

7 Sebab itu, seperti kata Roh Allah, "Kalau pada hari ini kamu mendengar suara Allah,

Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says – “If today you hear God’s voice,

8 janganlah kamu berkeras kepala, seperti leluhurmu, ketika mereka memberontak terhadap Allah, dan menguji Allah di padang pasir.

harden not your hearts, as when Israel provoked me on the day when they tried my patience in the desert,

9 'Di sana leluhurmu mencobai Aku, dan menguji Aku,' kata Allah, 'padahal mereka sudah melihat perbuatan-Ku empat puluh tahun lamanya.'

Where your ancestors tried my forbearance, and saw my mighty deeds for forty years.

10 Itulah sebabnya Aku murka terhadap mereka dan Aku berkata, 'Mereka selalu tidak setia, dan enggan mentaati perintah-perintah-Ku.'

Therefore I was sorely vexed with that generation, and I said – ‘Their hearts are always straying; they have never learned my ways’;

11 Aku marah dan bersumpah, 'Mereka tak akan masuk ke negeri itu untuk mendapat istirahat bersama Aku.'"

While in my wrath I swore – ‘They will never enter upon my rest.’”

12 Saudara-saudara, hati-hatilah jangan sampai ada di antaramu seorang yang hatinya begitu jahat dan tidak beriman, sehingga ia berbalik dan menjauhi Allah yang hidup!

Be careful, friends, that there is never found in anyone of you a wicked and faithless heart, shown by that person separating themselves from the living God.

13 Jadi, supaya tidak ada seorang pun dari antaramu yang tertipu oleh dosa sehingga menentang Allah, hendaklah kalian saling menasihati setiap hari selama kita masih hidup dalam zaman yang disebut "Hari Ini" dalam Alkitab.

Rather encourage one another daily – while there is a today – to prevent anyone among you from being hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.

14 Kita semua adalah teman seperjuangan dengan Kristus, asal kita sampai akhir memegang teguh keyakinan yang kita miliki pada mulanya.

For we now all share in the Christ, if indeed we retain, unshaken to the end, the confidence that we had at the first.

15 Inilah yang tertulis dalam Alkitab, "Kalau pada hari ini kamu mendengar suara Allah, janganlah kamu berkeras kepala, seperti leluhurmu, ketika mereka memberontak terhadap Allah."

To use the words of scripture – “If today you hear God’s voice, harden not your hearts, as when Israel provoked me.”

16 Nah, siapakah orang-orang yang mendengar suara Allah lalu memberontak terhadap-Nya? Itulah semua orang yang dipimpin oleh Musa keluar dari Mesir, bukan?

Who were they who heard God speak and yet provoked him? Were not they all those who left Egypt under the leadership of Moses?

17 Dan terhadap siapakah Allah marah empat puluh tahun lamanya? Terhadap mereka yang berdosa, yang jatuh mati di padang gurun, bukan?

And with whom was it that God was sorely vexed for forty years? Was not it with those who had sinned, and who fell dead in the desert?

18 Ketika Allah bersumpah begini, "Mereka tidak akan masuk ke negeri itu untuk mendapat istirahat bersama-Ku" --siapakah pula yang dimaksudkan oleh Allah? Yang dimaksudkan ialah orang-orang yang memberontak terhadap Allah, bukan?

And who were they to whom God swore that they should not enter upon his rest, if not those who had proved faithless?

19 Sekarang kita mengerti bahwa mereka tidak dapat masuk, karena mereka tidak percaya kepada Allah.

We see, then, that they failed to enter upon it because of their want of faith.
