Kejadian 14

1 Empat raja, yaitu: Amrafel dari Babilonia, Ariokh dari Elasar, Kedorlaomer dari Elam, dan Tideal dari Goyim

And it came to pass at that time, that Amraphel king of Sennaar, and Arioch king of Pontus, and Chodorlahomor king of the Elamites, and Thadal king of nations,

2 berperang melawan lima raja lain, yaitu: Bera dari Sodom, Birsya dari Gomora, Syinab dari Adma, Semeber dari Zeboim, dan raja dari Bela yang disebut juga Zoar.

Made war against Bara king of Sodom, and against Bersa king of Gomorrha, and against Sennaab king of Adama, and against Semeber king of Seboim, and against the king of Bala, which is Segor.

3 Kelima raja itu bersekutu dan mengumpulkan tentara mereka di Lembah Sidim, yang sekarang disebut Laut Mati.

All these came together into the woodland vale, which now is the salt sea.

4 Selama dua belas tahun mereka dikuasai oleh Raja Kedorlaomer, tetapi dalam tahun yang ketiga belas, mereka memberontak melawan dia.

For they had served Chodorlahomor twelve years, and in the thirteenth year they revolted from him.

5 Dalam tahun keempat belas, Kedorlaomer dan sekutu-sekutunya datang dengan tentara mereka dan mengalahkan orang Refaim di Asyterot-Karnaim, orang Zuzim di Ham, orang Emim di Syawe-Kiryataim,

And in the fourteenth year came Chodorlahomor, and the kings that were with him: and they smote the Raphaim in Astarothcarnaim, and the Zuzim with them, and the Emim in Save of Cariathaim.

6 dan orang Hori di pegunungan Edom, lalu mengejar mereka sejauh El-Paran di pinggir padang gurun.

And the Chorreans in the mountains of Seir, even to the plains of Pharan, which is in the wilderness.

7 Setelah itu para pengejar balik lagi dan kembali ke En-Mispat yang sekarang disebut Kades. Mereka menaklukkan seluruh tanah Amalek serta mengalahkan orang Amori yang tinggal di Hazezon-Tamar.

And they returned, and came to the fountain of Misphat, the same is Cades: and they smote all the country of the Amalecites, and the Amorrhean that dwelt in Asasonthamar.

8 Kemudian raja-raja dari Sodom, Gomora, Adma, Zeboim dan Bela mengatur barisan tentara mereka di Lembah Sidim lalu berperang

And the king of Sodom, and the king of Gomorrha, and the king of Adama, and the king of Seboim, and the king of Bala, which is Segor, went out: and they set themselves against them in battle array in the woodland vale:

9 melawan raja-raja dari Elam, Goyim, Babilonia, dan Elasar; jadi, lima raja melawan empat.

To wit, against Chodorlahomor king of the Elamites, and Thadal king of nations, and Amraphel king of Sennaar, and Arioch king of Pontus: four kings against five.

10 Lembah itu penuh dengan sumur aspal, dan ketika raja-raja dari Sodom dan Gomora berusaha melarikan diri dari peperangan, mereka jatuh ke dalam sumur-sumur itu. Ketiga raja lainnya berhasil lolos dan lari ke pegunungan.

Now the woodland vale had many pits of slime. And the king of Sodom, and the king of Gomorrha turned their backs and were overthrown there: and they that remained fled to the mountain.

11 Keempat raja yang menang, merampas segala-galanya di Sodom dan Gomora, termasuk bahan makanan, lalu pergi.

And they took all the substance of the Sodomites, and Gomorrhites, and all their victuals, and went their way:

12 Lot kemanakan Abram juga bertempat tinggal di Sodom, karena itu ia pun dibawa oleh musuh beserta segala harta bendanya.

And Lot also, the son of Abram’s brother, who dwelt in Sodom, and his substance.

13 Tetapi seorang yang berhasil lolos melaporkan semua kejadian itu kepada Abram, orang Ibrani itu. Abram tinggal dekat pohon-pohon keramat tempat ibadat milik Mamre, seorang Amori. Mamre dan saudara-saudaranya, yaitu Eskol dan Aner adalah teman-teman sekutu Abram.

And behold one that had escaped told Abram the Hebrew, who dwelt in the vale of Mambre the Amorrhite, the brother of Escol, and the brother of Aner: for these had made league with Abram.

14 Ketika Abram mendengar bahwa kemanakannya tertawan, dikumpulkannya semua orang di dalam perkemahannya, yakni yang pandai berperang, sebanyak 318 orang, lalu mengejar keempat raja itu sampai ke kota Dan.

Which when Abram had heard, to wit, that his brother Lot was taken, he numbered of the servants born in his house, three hundred and eighteen well appointed: and pursued them to Dan.

15 Di situ Abram membagi orang-orangnya atas beberapa kelompok, lalu menyerang musuh pada waktu malam dan mengalahkan mereka. Ia mengejar mereka sampai ke Hoba di sebelah utara kota Damsyik.

And dividing his company, he rushed upon them in the night: and defeated them, and pursued them as far as Hoba, which is on the left hand of Damascus.

16 Abram berhasil merebut kembali barang-barang yang telah dirampas, juga Lot dengan segala harta bendanya, dan para wanita dan tawanan lainnya.

And he brought back all the substance, and Lot his brother, with his substance, the women also and the people.

17 Sesudah mengalahkan Raja Kedorlaomer dengan raja-raja sekutunya, Abram kembali. Lalu raja Sodom pergi menyongsong dia di Lembah Syawe yang disebut juga Lembah Raja.

And the king of Sodom went out to meet him, after he returned from the slaughter of Chodorlahomor, and of the kings that were with him in the vale of Save, which is the king’s vale.

18 Melkisedek, raja Salem yang juga menjabat imam Allah Yang Mahatinggi, membawa roti dan anggur untuk Abram,

But Melchisedech the king of Salem, bringing forth bread and wine, for he was the priest of the most high God,

19 lalu memberkati Abram, katanya, "Semoga Allah Yang Mahatinggi, yang telah menciptakan langit dan bumi, memberkati Abram!

Blessed him, and said: Blessed be Abram by the most high God, who created heaven and earth.

20 Terpujilah Allah Yang Mahatinggi, yang telah memberikan kepadamu kemenangan atas musuhmu." Setelah itu Abram memberikan kepada Melkisedek sepersepuluh dari segala barang rampasan yang telah dibawanya kembali.

And blessed be the most high God, by whose protection the enemies are in thy hands. And he gave him the tithes of all.

21 Lalu berkatalah raja Sodom kepada Abram, "Ambillah barang rampasan itu, tetapi sudilah mengembalikan kepadaku semua orang-orangku."

And the king of Sodom said to Abram: Give me the persons, and the rest take to thyself.

22 Tetapi Abram menjawab, "Saya bersumpah di hadapan TUHAN, Allah Yang Mahatinggi, Pencipta langit dan bumi,

And he answered him: I lift up my hand to the Lord God the most high, the possessor of heaven and earth,

23 bahwa saya tak akan mengambil apa-apa dari milikmu, bahkan sehelai benang atau sepotong tali sandal pun tidak. Dengan begitu engkau tidak akan dapat berkata, 'Sayalah yang membuat Abram menjadi kaya.'

That from the very woof thread unto the shoe latchet, I will not take of any things that are thine, lest thou say I have enriched Abram:

24 Saya tidak mau mengambil apa-apa untuk saya sendiri. Saya hanya mau menerima apa yang telah dipakai oleh orang-orang saya. Tetapi biarlah teman-teman sekutu saya, yakni Aner, Eskol dan Mamre, mengambil bagian mereka."

Except such things as the young men have eaten, and the shares of the men that came with me, Aner, Escol, and Mambre: these shall take their shares.
