Keluaran 20

1 Lalu Allah berbicara, dan inilah kata-kata-Nya,

And the Lord spoke all these words:

2 "Akulah TUHAN Allahmu yang membawa kamu keluar dari Mesir tempat kamu diperbudak.

I am the Lord thy God, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

3 Jangan menyembah ilah-ilah lain. Sembahlah Aku saja.

Thou shalt not have strange gods before me.

4 Jangan membuat bagi dirimu patung yang menyerupai apa pun yang ada di langit, di bumi atau di dalam air di bawah bumi.

Thou shalt not make to thyself a graven thing, nor the likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or in the earth beneath, nor of those things that are in the waters under the earth.

5 Jangan menyembah patung semacam itu, karena Akulah TUHAN Allahmu, dan Aku tak mau disamakan dengan apa pun. Orang-orang yang membenci Aku, Kuhukum sampai kepada keturunan yang ketiga dan keempat.

Thou shalt not adore them, nor serve them: I am the Lord thy God, mighty, jealous, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me:

6 Tetapi Aku menunjukkan kasih-Ku kepada beribu-ribu keturunan orang-orang yang mencintai Aku dan taat kepada perintah-Ku.

And shewing mercy unto thousands to them that love me, and keep my commandments.

7 Jangan menyebut nama-Ku dengan sembarangan, sebab Aku, TUHAN Allahmu, menghukum siapa saja yang menyalahgunakan nama-Ku.

Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain: for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that shall take the name of the Lord his God in vain.

8 Rayakanlah hari Sabat dan hormatilah hari itu sebagai hari yang suci.

Remember that thou keep holy the sabbath day.

9 Kamu Kuberi enam hari untuk bekerja,

Six days shalt thou labour, and shalt do all thy works.

10 tetapi hari yang ketujuh adalah hari istirahat yang khusus untuk Aku. Pada hari itu tak seorang pun boleh bekerja, baik kamu, maupun anak-anakmu, hamba-hambamu, ternakmu atau orang asing yang tinggal di negerimu.

But on the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: thou shalt do no work on it, thou nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy beast, nor the stranger that is within thy gates.

11 Dalam waktu enam hari, Aku, TUHAN, membuat bumi, langit, lautan, dan segala yang ada di dalamnya, tetapi pada hari yang ketujuh Aku beristirahat. Itulah sebabnya Aku, TUHAN, memberkati hari Sabat dan mengkhususkannya bagi diri-Ku.

For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, and the sea, and all things that are in them, and rested on the seventh day: therefore the Lord blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it.

12 Hormatilah ayah dan ibumu, supaya kamu sejahtera dan panjang umur di negeri yang akan Kuberikan kepadamu.

Honour thy father and thy mother, that thou mayest be longlived upon the land which the Lord thy God will give thee.

13 Jangan membunuh.

Thou shalt not kill.

14 Jangan berzinah.

Thou shalt not commit adultery.

15 Jangan mencuri.

Thou shalt not steal.

16 Jangan memberi kesaksian palsu tentang orang lain.

Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

17 Jangan menginginkan kepunyaan orang lain: rumahnya, istrinya, hamba-hambanya, ternaknya, keledainya, atau apa pun yang dimilikinya."

Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house: neither shalt thou desire his wife, nor his servant, nor his handmaid, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is his.

18 Ketika orang-orang mendengar guruh dan bunyi trompet, serta melihat kilat dan gunung yang berasap, mereka gemetar ketakutan dan berdiri jauh-jauh.

And all the people saw the voices and the flames, and the sound of the trumpet, and the mount smoking: and being terrified and struck with fear, they stood afar off,

19 Kata mereka kepada Musa, "Engkau saja berbicara kepada kami, kami akan mendengarkan; tetapi janganlah Allah berbicara kepada kami, nanti kami mati."

Saying to Moses: Speak thou to us, and we will hear: let not the Lord speak to us, lest we die.

20 Jawab Musa, "Jangan takut. Allah datang hanya untuk mencobai kamu supaya kamu tetap mentaati-Nya, dan tidak berdosa."

And Moses said to the people: Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that the dread of him might be in you, and you should not sin.

21 Tetapi orang-orang itu tetap berdiri jauh-jauh, dan hanya Musa mendekati awan gelap di tempat Allah hadir.

And the people stood afar off. But Moses went to the dark cloud wherein God was.

22 TUHAN memerintahkan Musa untuk mengatakan kepada bangsa Israel, "Kamu telah melihat bagaimana Aku, TUHAN, berbicara kepadamu dari langit.

And the Lord said to Moses: Thus shalt thou say to the children of Israel: You have seen that I have spoken to you from heaven.

23 Jangan membuat bagi dirimu patung-patung perak atau emas untuk kamu puja selain Aku.

You shall not make gods of silver, nor shall you make to yourselves gods of gold.

24 Buatlah untuk-Ku sebuah mezbah dari tanah, lalu persembahkanlah di situ domba dan sapimu untuk kurban bakaran dan kurban perdamaian. Di setiap tempat yang Kutentukan bagimu sebagai tempat untuk beribadat kepada-Ku, Aku akan datang dan memberkati kamu.

You shall make an altar of earth unto me, and you shall offer upon it your holocausts and peace offerings, your sheep and oxen, in every place where the memory of my name shall be: I will come to thee, and will bless thee.

25 Kalau kamu membuat bagi-Ku sebuah mezbah dari batu, jangan membuatnya dari batu pahatan, sebab jika kamu memakai pahat untuk membelah batu, mezbah itu tidak boleh lagi dipakai untuk-Ku.

And if thou make an altar of stone unto me, thou shalt not build it of hewn stones: for if thou lift up a tool upon it, it shall be defiled.

26 Jangan membangun mezbah yang tinggi sehingga harus dinaiki dengan tangga, supaya jangan terlihat bagian badanmu yang tidak pantas dilihat."

Thou shalt not go up by steps unto my altar, lest thy nakedness be discovered.
