Amos 4

1 Dengarlah, hai wanita-wanita Samaria yang bertambah gemuk seperti sapi-sapi tambun di Basan! Kamu menindas orang lemah, memeras orang miskin, dan menuntut supaya suamimu selalu menyediakan minuman keras bagimu!

Hear this word, all of you cattle of Bashan, that are in the mountain of Samaria, which oppress the poor, which crush the needy, which say to their masters, Bring, and let us drink.

2 Aku, TUHAN Yang Mahatinggi adalah TUHAN yang suci, dan Aku telah berjanji bahwa kelak kamu diseret dengan kaitan; kamu semua akan seperti ikan pada mata kail.

The Lord GOD has sworn by his holiness, that, lo, the days shall come upon you, that he will take you away with hooks, and your posterity with fishhooks.

3 Kamu akan diseret ke arah Hermon dan dilempar keluar, masing-masing melalui celah tembok yang terdekat. Aku TUHAN telah berbicara."

And all of you shall go out at the breaches, every cow at that which is before her; and all of you shall cast them into the palace, says the LORD.

4 TUHAN Yang Mahatinggi berkata, "Hai umat Israel! Pergilah saja ke tempat ibadah di Betel, dan berbuatlah dosa di situ! Pergilah ke Gilgal, dan berbuatlah dosa sesuka hatimu! Silakan mempersembahkan kurban setiap pagi, dan membawa sepersepuluh dari segala penghasilanmu setiap tiga hari!

Come to Bethel, and transgress; at Gilgal multiply transgression; and bring your sacrifices every morning, and your tithes after three years:

5 Silakan mempersembahkan roti sebagai ucapan terima kasihmu kepada-Ku, dan silakan membual bahwa kamu sudah membawa tambahan persembahan! Pasti itulah yang kamu senang lakukan!

And offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving with leaven, and proclaim and publish the free offerings: for this likes you, O all of you children of Israel, says the Lord GOD.

6 Akulah yang menimpakan bencana kelaparan ke atas semua kotamu, tapi kamu tidak kembali kepada-Ku.

And I also have given you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, and lack of bread in all your places: yet have all of you not returned unto me, says the LORD.

7 Aku mencegah turunnya hujan ketika tanamanmu sangat memerlukan air. Aku menurunkan hujan ke kota yang satu dan tidak ke kota yang lain. Ladang yang satu mendapat curahan hujan, sedangkan ladang yang lain kekeringan.

And also I have withheld the rain from you, when there were yet three months to the harvest: and I caused it to rain upon one city, and caused it not to rain upon another city: one piece was rained upon, and the piece whereupon it rained not withered.

8 Di beberapa kota, penduduknya yang sudah lemah kehausan, mencari air di kota yang lain, tapi air di situ tidak cukup. Meskipun begitu, kamu tidak juga kembali kepada-Ku.

So two or three cities wandered unto one city, to drink water; but they were not satisfied: yet have all of you not returned unto me, says the LORD.

9 Aku menghembuskan angin panas dan mengirim hama yang merusak tanaman-tanaman serta kebun-kebun anggurmu. Pohon-pohon ara, dan pohon-pohon zaitunmu telah habis dimakan belalang. Namun demikian kamu tidak juga kembali kepada-Ku.

I have smitten you with blasting and mildew: when your gardens and your vineyards and your fig trees and your olive trees increased, the palmerworm devoured them: yet have all of you not returned unto me, says the LORD.

10 Aku mengirim wabah penyakit kepadamu seperti yang Kukirim ke Mesir. Orang-orang mudamu Kutewaskan dalam pertempuran, dan kuda-kudamu dirampas. Aku mengisi perkemahanmu dengan bangkai-bangkai yang baunya menusuk hidung. Meskipun begitu, kamu tidak juga kembali kepada-Ku.

I have sent among you the pestilence after the manner of Egypt: your young men have I slain with the sword, and have taken away your horses; and I have made the stink of your camps to come up unto your nostrils: yet have all of you not returned unto me, says the LORD.

11 Sebagian dari kamu Kubinasakan seperti Aku membinasakan Sodom dan Gomora. Yang masih hidup di antara kamu adalah seperti puntung kayu yang diambil dari api. Meskipun begitu, kamu tidak juga kembali kepada-Ku.

I have overthrown some of you, as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and all of you were as a firebrand plucked out of the burning: yet have all of you not returned unto me, says the LORD.

12 Karena itu, hai umat Israel, Aku akan menghukum kamu. Jadi, bersiap-siaplah menghadapi hukuman yang akan Kutimpakan kepadamu!"

Therefore thus will I do unto you, O Israel: and because I will do this unto you, prepare to meet your God, O Israel.

13 Gunung dan angin, Tuhanlah penciptanya; rencana-Nya dinyatakan-Nya kepada manusia. Ia membuat siang dan malam; di atas puncak-puncak bumi Ia berjalan. TUHAN Allah Yang Mahakuasa, itulah nama-Nya.

For, lo, he that forms the mountains, and creates the wind, and declares unto man what is his thought, that makes the morning darkness, and treads upon the high places of the earth, The LORD, The God of hosts, is his name.
