1 Sesudah Amazia meninggal, seluruh rakyat Yehuda memilih Uzia putranya menjadi raja. Pada waktu itu ia berumur 16 tahun. Ibunya bernama Yekholya, wanita Yerusalem. Uzia memerintah di Yerusalem 52 tahun lamanya. Dialah yang merebut dan membangun kembali kota Elot.
And all the people of Judah took 'Uzziyahu, who was then sixteen years old, and made him king instead of his father Amazyahu.
He it was that built Eloth, and brought it back to Judah, after the king slept with his fathers.
Sixteen years old was 'Uzziyahu when he became king, and fifty and two years did he reign in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Yecholyah of Jerusalem.
4 Seperti ayahnya, Uzia pun melakukan yang menyenangkan hati TUHAN.
And he did what is right in the eyes of the Lord, in accordance with all that his father Amazyahu had done.
5 Zakharia adalah penasihat rohaninya. Selama Zakharia masih hidup, Uzia dengan setia beribadat kepada TUHAN sehingga TUHAN memberkatinya.
And he was [inclined] to seek God in the days of Zecharyahu, who had understanding in the visions of God; and during the time that he sought the Lord, God caused him to prosper.
6 Uzia bertempur melawan orang Filistin. Ia meruntuhkan tembok-tembok kota Gat, Yabne, dan Asdod, lalu mendirikan kota-kota berbenteng dekat Asdod dan di daerah lain di Filistin.
And he went forth and made war against the Philistines, and he broke down the wall of Gath, and the wall of Jabneh, and the wall of Ashdod; and he built cities in [the country of] Ashdod, and among the Philistines.
7 Allah menolong dia mengalahkan orang Filistin, dan orang Arab yang tinggal di Gur-Baal serta orang Meunim.
And God helped him against the Philistines, and against the Arabians that dwelt in Gur-ba'al, and the Me'unim.
8 Orang Amon membayar upeti kepada Uzia. Ia makin berkuasa sehingga namanya tersohor sampai ke Mesir.
And the 'Ammonites gave presents to 'Uzziyahu: and his name extended even to the entrance of Egypt; for he became exceedingly strong.
9 Untuk memperkuat kota Yerusalem, Uzia mendirikan menara di Pintu Gerbang Sudut, di Pintu Gerbang Lembah dan di tikungan tembok.
And 'Uzziyahu built towers in Jerusalem, above the corner-gate, and above the valley-gate, and at the angle, and made them strong.
10 Ia juga mendirikan menara-menara berbenteng di daerah padang, dan menggali banyak sumur karena ternaknya banyak sekali, baik di dataran tinggi maupun di dataran rendah di sebelah barat. Karena ia menaruh perhatian pada pertanian, maka ia mempekerjakan banyak orang untuk membuka kebun-kebun anggur di daerah pegunungan, dan untuk menggarap tanah di daerah-daerah yang subur.
He built also towers in the desert, and hewed out many wells; for he had much cattle, both in the lowlands and in the plain; [also] husbandmen, and vintners in the mountains, and in Carmel; for he loved husbandry.
11 Uzia mempunyai tentara besar yang selalu siap untuk bertempur. Mereka terdiri atas kesatuan-kesatuan yang jumlahnya dicatat oleh kedua sekretaris raja, yaitu Yeiel dan Maaseya di bawah pimpinan Hananya, salah seorang anggota staf raja.
Moreover 'Uzziyah had an army of fighting men, that went out to the host by bands, according to the number of those mustered of them through the hand of Je'iel the scribe and Ma'asseyahu the overseer, under the supervision of Chananyahu, one of the king's captains.
12 Seluruh angkatan bersenjata itu terdiri dari 307.500 prajurit dipimpin oleh 2.600 perwira. Mereka semua mempunyai kemampuan yang sangat besar untuk bertempur dan membantu raja mengalahkan musuh.
The whole number of the chiefs of the family divisions of the mighty men of valor was two thousand and six hundred.
And under their supervision was an efficient army, [of] three hundred thousand and seven thousand and five hundred, that made war with mighty power, to help the king against the enemy.
14 Uzia memperlengkapi tentaranya itu dengan perisai tombak, topi baja, baju besi, busur dan panah, serta batu pengumban.
And 'Uzziyahu prepared for them, for all the host, shields, and spears, and helmets, and coats of mail, and bows, and stones for slinging.
15 Di Yerusalem para ahli senjatanya telah menciptakan alat yang dapat membidikkan anak panah dan batu-batu besar dari dalam menara dan sudut-sudut tembok kota. Uzia termasyhur di mana-mana, dan ia menjadi sangat berkuasa karena Allah sangat menolong dia.
And he made in Jerusalem artificial contrivances, contrived by a skilful man, to be [stationed] on the towers and upon the ramparts, to shoot off arrows and great stones. And his name extended ever so far abroad; for he was marvelously assisted, till he became strong.
16 Setelah Raja Uzia kuat, ia menjadi sombong, dan itu menyebabkan kehancurannya. Ia melanggar perintah TUHAN Allahnya karena memasuki Rumah TUHAN untuk membakar dupa di atas mezbah dupa.
But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up to his destruction; and he became unfaithful against the Lord his God, and went into the temple of the Lord to burn incense upon the altar of incense.
17 Tetapi Imam Azarya bersama 80 imam lain yang kuat-kuat dan berani mengikuti dia
And there went in after him 'Azaryahu the priest, and with him were priests of the Lord, valiant men, [to the number of] eighty;
18 untuk menentang perbuatannya itu. Mereka berkata, "Paduka Yang Mulia! Baginda tidak berhak membakar dupa untuk TUHAN. Itu tugas imam-imam keturunan Harun, sebab merekalah yang dikhususkan untuk itu. Hendaklah Baginda meninggalkan tempat yang suci ini! Baginda telah melawan TUHAN Allah, dan tidak lagi mendapat restu-Nya."
And they stood forward against king 'Uzziyahu, and they said unto him, It is not for thee, O 'Uzziyahu, to burn incense unto the Lord, but for the priests the sons of Aaron, who are consecrated to burn incense: go out of the sanctuary; for thou hast trespassed; and it will not be for thy honor from the Lord God.
19 Pada waktu itu Uzia sedang berdiri di dekat mezbah dupa di Rumah TUHAN dengan alat pembakar dupa di tangannya. Ia marah kepada imam-imam itu, dan tiba-tiba timbul penyakit kulit yang mengerikan pada dahinya.
But 'Uzziyahu became wroth, and in his hand was a censer to burn incense: and while he was wroth with the priests, the leprosy even broke out on his forehead before the priests in the house of the Lord, above the altar of the incense.
20 Azarya dan imam-imam lain melihat kepadanya dengan sangat terkejut, lalu mendesak supaya ia meninggalkan Rumah TUHAN. Cepat-cepat ia ke luar karena TUHAN telah menghukumnya.
And when 'Azaryahu the chief priest, with all the priests, turned about toward him, behold, he was leprous on his forehead, and they hurried him away from there: yea, he also made haste to go out, because the Lord had afflicted him.
21 Sampai Raja Uzia meninggal penyakitnya itu tidak sembuh-sembuh. Ia diasingkan di sebuah rumah dan tidak diizinkan lagi memasuki Rumah TUHAN. Ia dibebaskan dari tugas-tugasnya, dan Yotam putranya memerintah rakyat sebagai wakilnya.
And king 'Uzziyahu was a leper until the day of his death, and dwelt in the leper-house, as a leper; for he was excluded from the house of the Lord: and Jotham his son was over the king's house, [and] judged the people of the land.
22 Kisah lain mengenai pemerintahan Raja Uzia, sudah dicatat oleh Nabi Yesaya anak Amos.
And the rest of the acts of 'Uzziyahu, the first and the last, did Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amos write.
23 Ketika meninggal, Uzia dikuburkan di tanah dekat makam raja-raja, tetapi tidak di makam itu sendiri, sebab ia berpenyakit kulit yang mengerikan. Yotam putranya menjadi raja menggantikan dia.
And 'Uzziyahu slept with his fathers, and they buried him with his fathers in the burial-field which belonged to the kings; for they said, He is a leper: and Jotham his son became king in his stead.
