1 Raja Hiram dari negeri Tirus mengirim duta-dutanya kepada Daud, juga kayu cemara Libanon dan tukang-tukang kayu serta tukang batu untuk mendirikan istana.
And Iram, the kyng of Tyre, sente messageris to Dauid, and `he sente trees of cedre, and werk men of wallis and of trees, that thei schulden bilde to hym an hows.
2 Karena itu Daud merasa yakin TUHAN sudah mengukuhkan dia sebagai raja Israel dan menguatkan kerajaannya untuk kepentingan umat TUHAN.
And Dauid knewe that the Lord hadde confermyd hym in to kyng on Israel; and that his rewme was reisid on his puple Israel.
3 Di Yerusalem Daud mengambil lagi beberapa istri, dan mendapat anak-anak lagi.
And Dauid took othere wyues in Jerusalem, and gendride sones and douytris.
4 Putra-putranya yang lahir di Yerusalem ialah: Syamua, Sobab, Natan, Salomo,
And these ben the names of hem that weren borun to hym in Jerusalem; Sammu, and Sobab, Nathan, and Salomon,
5 Yibhar, Elisua, Elpelet,
Jeber, and Elisu, and Heli, and Eliphalech,
6 Nogah, Nefeg, Yafia,
and Noga, and Napheg, and Japhie,
7 Elisama, Beelyada dan Elifelet.
and Elisama, and Baliada, and Eliphelech.
8 Ketika orang Filistin mendengar bahwa Daud sudah diangkat menjadi raja seluruh Israel, mereka datang hendak menangkap dia. Karena itu Daud keluar untuk berperang dengan mereka.

9 Sementara itu orang Filistin sudah tiba di Lembah Refaim dan merampoki lembah itu.

10 Mendengar itu Daud bertanya kepada Allah, "TUHAN, haruskah saya menyerang orang-orang Filistin itu? Apakah TUHAN akan memberikan kemenangan kepada saya?" "Ya, seranglah!" jawab TUHAN. "Aku akan memberikan kemenangan kepadamu!"
and Dauid counselide the Lord, and seide, Whether Y schal stie to Filisteis? and whether thou schalt bitake hem in to myn hondis? And the Lord seide to hym, Stie thou, and Y schal bitake hem in thin hond.
11 Maka Daud dan pasukannya menyerang orang-orang Filistin itu di Baal-Perasim dan mengalahkan mereka. Berkatalah Daud, "Allah telah memakai aku untuk mendobrak pertahanan musuh seperti banjir merobohkan segalanya dalam seketika." Itu sebabnya tempat itu disebut Baal-Perasim.
And whanne thei hadden styed in to Baal Pharasym, Dauid smoot hem there, and seide, God hath departid myn enemyes bi myn hond, as watris ben departid. And therfor the name of that place was clepid Baal Pharasym; and thei leften there her goddis,
12 Ketika pasukan Filistin lari, mereka tidak sempat membawa patung-patung berhala mereka. Daud memerintahkan supaya patung-patung itu dibakar.

13 Tidak lama kemudian orang Filistin datang dan merampoki lagi Lembah Refaim.

14 Sekali lagi Daud meminta petunjuk dari Allah, dan Allah menjawab, "Jangan menyerang mereka dari sini, tetapi berjalanlah memutar dan seranglah mereka dari seberang, dekat pohon-pohon murbei.
and eft Dauid counseilide the Lord, and the Lord seide to hym, Thou schalt not stie aftir hem; go awei fro hem, and thou schalt come ayens hem euen ayens the pere trees.
15 Kalau engkau mendengar bunyi seperti derap orang berbaris di puncak pohon-pohon itu, majulah, sebab Aku akan berjalan di depanmu untuk mengalahkan tentara Filistin."
And whanne thou schalt here the sowun of a goere in the cop of the pere trees, thanne thou schalt go out to batel; for the Lord is go out byfor thee, to smyte the castels of Filisteis.
16 Daud melaksanakan apa yang diperintahkan Allah kepadanya. Ia dan pasukannya memukul mundur tentara Filistin mulai dari Gibeon sampai ke Gezer.
Therfor Dauid dide as God comaundide to hym, and he smoot the castels of Filisteis fro Gabaon `til to Gazara.
17 Maka termasyhurlah nama Daud di mana-mana, dan TUHAN membuat segala bangsa takut kepada Daud.
And the name of Dauid was puplischid in alle cuntreis, and the Lord yaf his drede on alle folkis.
