< Lucas 2 >

1 Itatta, kadagidi nga al-aldaw, immay ti kanito nga ni Cesar Agusto ket nangipaulog iti linteg a mangibilbilin a masapul nga mailista amin nga tattao nga agbibiag iti lubong ti Roma.
About that time an edict was issued by the Emperor Augustus that a census should be taken of the whole Empire.
2 Daytoy ti kaunaan a panagpalista nga naaramid kabayatan a ni Kerinio ti gobernador idiay Syria.
(This was the first census taken while Quirinius was Governor of Syria).
3 Isu nga tunggal maysa ket napan iti bukodna nga ili tapno agpalista para iti dayta nga panagpalista.
And everyone went to his own town to be registered.
4 Uray ni Jose ket pimmanaw manipud siudad ti Nazaret idiay Galilea ket nagdalyasat a napan iti ili nga Betlehem a sakop ti Judea, a mabigbig nga siudad ni David, agsipud ta isuna ket kaputotan nga nagtaud iti pamilia ni David.
Among others Joseph went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Bethlehem, the town of David, in Judea – because he belonged to the family and house of David –
5 Napan isuna idiay tapno agpalista a kadwana ni Maria, a naitulag nga asawaenna ken agur-uray iti panaganakna.
to be registered with Mary, his engaged wife, who was about to become a mother.
6 Itatta immay ti kanito nga kabayatan nga addada idiay, dimteng ti tiempo tapno ipasngayna ti anakna.
While they were there her time came,
7 Inpasngayna ti maysa a lalaki, ti inauna nga anakna, ket binalkotna a nasayaat itia akikid ng lupot. Sana inkabil iti kulluong, gapu ta awan ti kuarto a para kadakuada iti pagdagdagusan dagiti bisita.
and she gave birth to her first child, a son. And because there was no room for them in the inn, she swathed him around and laid him in a manger.
8 Iti dayta met laeng a rehion, adda dagiti agpaspastor nga agnanaed iti away ken banbantayanda dagiti aguurnong a karneroda iti rabii.
In that same countryside were shepherds out in the open fields, watching their flocks that night,
9 Pagammoan, nagparang kadakuada iti anghel ti Apo, ken ti dayag ti Apo ket linawaganna ti aglawlawda, ket napalalo ti butengda.
when an angel of the Lord suddenly stood by them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were seized with fear.
10 Ket kinuna ti anghel kadakuada, “Saan kayo nga agbuteng, agsipud ta dandanin nga ibagak kadakayo ti naimbag a damag a mangiyeg iti dakkel nga ragsak kadagiti amin a tattao.
“Have no fear,” the angel said. “For I bring you good news of a great joy in store for all the nation.
11 Ita adda mangisalakan nga naipasngay para kadakayo iti siudad ni David! Isuna ni Kristo nga Apo!
This day there has been born to you, in the town of David, a Savior, who is Christ and Lord.
12 Daytoy ti pagilasinan a maited kadakayo, masarakanyonto ti maysa a maladaga a nabalkot iti akikid a lupot nga nakaidda iti kulluong.”
And this will be the sign for you. You will find the infant swathed, and lying in a manger.”
13 Pagammoan, adda naitipon iti anghel nga adu a bilang ti nainlangitan a soldado nga agdaydayaw iti Dios, a kunkunada,
Then suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly Host, praising God, and singing –
14 “Gloria iti Dios nga adda iti kangatoan, ken maadda koma ti kapia ditoy daga kadagiti tattao nga pakaay-aywanna.”
“glory to God on high, and on earth peace among those in whom he finds pleasure.”
15 Apaman a nakapanawen dagiti anghel manipud kadakuada a napandan idiay langit, kinuna dagiti agpaspastor iti tunggal maysa, “Intayo itan idiay Betlehem, ken intayo kitaen daytoy a banag nga napasamak, nga impakaammo ti Apo kadatayo.”
Now, when the angels had left them and gone back to heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go at once to Bethlehem, and see this thing that has happened, of which the Lord has told us.”
16 Nagdardarasda a napan idiay ket nasarakanda ni Maria ken ni Jose, ken nakitada ti maladaga nga nakaidda iti kulluong.
So they went quickly, and found Mary and Joseph, and the infant lying in a manger;
17 Kalpasan nga nakitada daytoy, impakaammoda kadagiti tattao no ania ti naibaga kadakuada maipapan iti daytoy nga ubing.
and, when they saw it, they told of all that had been said to them about this child.
18 Ket nagsiddaaw amin a nakangngeg iti imbaga dagiti agpaspastor kadakuada.
All who heard the shepherds were astonished at their story,
19 Ngem pinanpanunot ni Maria ti maipapan kadagiti amin nga banbanag a nangngeganna, ket sinalimetmetanna dagitoy iti pusona.
while Mary treasured in her heart all that they said, and thought about it often.
20 Nagsubli dagiti agpaspastor nga intantan-ok ken indaydayawda ti Dios gapu kadagiti amin a nangngegan ken nakitada, a kas iti naibaga kadakuada.
And the shepherds went back, giving glory and praise to God for all that they had heard and seen. It had all happened as they had been told.
21 Idi maikawalo nga aldaw ken isu ti tiempo a pannakakugit ti ubing, pinanagananda isuna iti Hesus, ti nagan nga inted ti anghel sakbay ti pannakaisikogna.
Eight days after the birth of the child, when it was time to circumcise him, he received the name Jesus – the name given him by the angel before his conception.
22 Idi nalpas ti kasapulan nga bilang ti aldaw a para iti pannakadalusda, a sigun iti linteg ni Moises, inyeg da Jose ken Maria ti anakda a maladaga a lalaki iti templo idiay Jerusalem tapno isagutda iti Apo.
When the period of purification of mother and child, required by the Law of Moses, came to an end, his parents took the child up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord,
23 Kas naisurat iti linteg ti Apo, “Tunggal inauna nga anak a lalaki ket maawagan nga nasantoan iti Dios.”
in compliance with the Law of the Lord that every firstborn male will be dedicated to the Lord,
24 Immayda pay tapno agidaton da iti sagot a sigun iti naibaga iti linteg ti Apo, “maysa nga pares ti kalapati wenno dua a sibong nga kalapati.”
and also to offer the sacrifice required by the Law of the Lord – a pair of turtle-doves or two young pigeons.
25 Kitaen, adda maysa a lalaki manipud Jerusalem nga agnagan ti Simeon. Daytoy nga lalaki ket nalinteg ken napapati iti Dios. Isu ket agur-uray iti mangliwliwa iti Israel, ken adda kenkuana ti Espiritu Santo.
There was at that time in Jerusalem a man named Simeon, a righteous and devout man, who lived in constant expectation of Israel’s consulation, and under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
26 Naipakaammo kenkuana ti Espiritu Santo nga saan pay a matay agingga nga dina makita ti Kristo iti Apo.
It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he should not die until he had seen the Lord’s Christ.
27 Maysa nga aldaw immay isuna idiay templo, babaen iti panangidalan ti Espiritu Santo. Idi impan dagiti nagannakna ti ubing, a ni Hesus, tapno aramidenda para kenkuana no ania ti kadawyan nga kidkiddawen ti linteg,
Moved by the Spirit, Simeon came into the Temple Courts, and, when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him what was customary under the Law,
28 ket inubba ni Simeon ti ubing, ken nagdayaw iti Dios ket kinunana,
Simeon himself took the child in his arms, and blessed God, and said:
29 “Ita palubusam toy adipenmo nga pumanaw a sitatalna, Apo, a kas kunam iti saom.
“Now, Lord, you will let your servant go, according to your word, in peace,
30 Agsipud ta nakita dagiti matak ti panangisalakanmo,
for my eyes have seen the salvation
31 nga insaganam iti imatang dagiti amin nga tattao.
which you have prepared in the sight of all nations –
32 Agbalinto a silaw a mangiparangarang iti kinapudno kadagiti Hentil ken agbalin nga dayag dagiti tattaom nga Israel.”
a light to bring light to the Gentiles, and to be the glory of your people Israel.”
33 Nagsiddaaw ti ama ken ina ti ubing kadagiti banbanag a naibaga maipanggep iti ubing.
While the child’s father and mother were wondering at what was said about him,
34 Ket binendisionan ida ni Simeon ken kinunana ken ni Maria nga inana, “Dumngegka a nasayaat! Daytoy nga ubing ket naituding a pakatinnagan ken pakabangonan dagiti adu nga tattao iti Israel ken pagilasinan a masuppiat.
Simeon gave them his blessing, and said to Mary, the child’s mother, “This child is appointed to be the cause of the fall and rise of many in Israel, and to be a sign much spoken against –
35 Maysa pay, sugatento ti kampilan ti kararuam, tapno dagiti kapanunotan manipud kadagiti adu nga puspuso ket maiparangarang.”
Yes, the sword will pierce your own heart – and so the thoughts in many minds will be disclosed.”
36 Maysa nga propeta a babai nga agnagan ti Ana ket adda met idiay. Isuna ket anak ni Fanuel a nagtaud iti tribu ni Asher. Pirmi nga nabaketan isunan. Nagdennada iti asawana iti pito nga tawen kalpasan ti pannakikallaysana,
There was also a prophet named Hannah, a daughter of Phanuel and of the tribe of Asher. She was far advanced in years, having lived with her husband for seven years after marriage,
37 ken balo isuna iti walopulo ket uppat nga tawen. Saan isuna nga pulos a pimmanaw iti templo ket kanayon nga agdaydayaw iti Dios babaen ti panagayunar ken panagkarkararag, iti rabii ken aldaw.
and then a widow, until she had reached the age of eighty-four. She never left the Temple Courts, but, fasting and praying, worshiped God night and day.
38 Iti dayta met laeng a kanito, immasideg isuna kadakuada ken rinugianna ti nagyaman iti Dios. Imbagana ti maipapan iti ubing kadagiti amin nga agur-uray iti pannakasubbot ti Jerusalem.
At that moment she came up, and began publicly to thank God and to speak about the child to all who were looking for the deliverance of Jerusalem.
39 Idin ta nalpasda nga inaramid ti amin a banag a kinasapulan nga aramidenda a kas kinuna ti linteg ti Apo, nagsublida iti Galilea, iti bukodda nga siudad, a Nazaret.
When the child’s parents had done everything required by the Law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee to their own town of Nazareth.
40 Dimmakkel ti ubing ken nagbalin nga napigsa, nanayonan ti kinasiribna, ken adda kenkuana ti parabur iti Dios.
The child grew and became strong and wise, and the blessing of God was on him.
41 Tinawen nga mapmapan dagiti nagannakna idiay Jerusalem tapno makipagrambakda iti Fiesta ti Ilalabas.
Every year the child’s parents used to go to Jerusalem at the Passover Festival.
42 Idi agtawen isuna ti sangapulo ket dua, simang-atda manen a kas kadawyan nga ar-aramidenda iti tiempo ti fiesta.
When Jesus was twelve years old, they went according to custom to Jerusalem,
43 Kalpasan a nagianda idiay agingga a nalpas ti aldaw ti fiesta, inrugidan ti nagsubli iti pagtaenganda. Ngem ti ubing a ni Hesus ket nagbati idiay Jerusalem a saan nga ammo dagiti nagannakna.
and had finished their visit; but, when they started to return, the boy Jesus remained behind in Jerusalem, without their knowing it.
44 Inpagarupda a naikuyog isuna kadagiti bunggoy a makipagdaldalyasat kadakuada, isu nga nagdalyasatda iti uneg ti maysa nga aldaw. Ket inrugida ti nagbirok kenkuana kadagiti kakabagian ken gagayyemda.
Thinking that he was with their fellow travelers, they went one day’s journey before searching for him among their relatives and acquaintances;
45 Ket idi saanda nga mabirukan isuna, nagsublida idiay Jerusalem ket rinugianda nga biniruk isuna sadiay.
and then, as they did not find him, they returned to Jerusalem, searching everywhere for him.
46 Iti napasamak ket kalpasan iti tallo nga aldaw, nasarakanda isuna iti templo, agtugtugaw iti tengnga dagiti manursuro, dudumngeg kadakuada ken agsalsaludsod kadakuada.
It was not until the third day that they found him in the Temple Courts, sitting among the teachers, now listening to them, now asking them questions.
47 Amin nga nakangngeg kenkuana ket nasdaaw iti pannakaawatna ken kadagiti sungbatna.
All who listened to him marveled at his intelligence and his answers.
48 Idi nakitada isuna, nasdaawda. Kinuna ti inana kenkuana, “Anakko, apay nga kastoy ti panangtratom kadakami? Dumngegka, ni amam ken siak ket nagdandanag nga nangbirbiruk kenka.”
His parents were amazed when they saw him, and his mother said to him, “My child, why have you treated us like this? Your father and I have been searching for you in great distress.”
49 Kinunana kadakuada, “Apay nga birbirukendak? Diyo kadi ammo a masapul nga addaak iti balay ni Amak?”
“What made you search for me?” he answered. “Didn’t you know that I must be in my Father’s house?”
50 Ngem saanda nga naawatan ti kayatna nga sawen kadagidiay nga sasao.
His parents did not understand what he meant.
51 Ket nagawid isuna a kaduada idiay Nazaret ken natulnog kadakuada. Sinalemetmetan amin ni Maria dagitoy a banbanag iti pusona.
However he went down with them to Nazareth, and submitted himself to their control; and his mother treasured all that was said in her heart.
52 Ngem nagtultuloy ni Hesus a dimakkel iti kinasirib ken bagi, ken nanayonan a naay-ayo kenkuana ti Dios ken dagiti tattao.
And Jesus grew in wisdom as he grew in years, and gained the blessing of God and people.
