< Joel 1 >

1 Daytoy ti sao ni Yahweh nga immay kenni Joel a putot ni Petuel.
The word of the Lord which came to Joel the son of Bathuel.
2 Denggenyo daytoy, dakayo a panglakayen, ken dumngegkayo, dakayo amin nga agnanaed iti daga. Adda kadin kastoy a napasamak iti panawenyo wenno iti panawen dagiti kapuonanyo?
Hear these [words], you elders, and listen all you that inhabit the land. Have such things happen in your days, or in the days of your fathers?
3 Ibagayo kadagiti annakyo ti maipapan iti daytoy, ken ibaganto met dagiti annakyo kadagiti annakda, ken ibaganto met dagiti annakda kadagiti sumaruno a henerasion.
Tell your children concerning them, and [let] your children [tell] their children, and their children another generation.
4 Nagsasaruno a pangen ti dudon ti immay nangan kadagiti mula, ti natda ti umuna a pangen dagiti dudon, kinnan dagiti simmaruno a pangen dagiti dudon.
The leavings of the caterpillar has the locust eaten, and the leavings of the locust has the palmerworm eaten, and the leavings of the palmerworm has the cankerworm eaten.
5 Agriingkayo, dakayo a mammartek, ket agsangitkayo! Aganug-ogkayo, dakayo amin a managinum iti arak, gapu ta naibusankayon kadagiti nasam-it nga arak.
Awake, you drunkards, from your wine, and weep: mourn, all you that drink wine to drunkenness: for joy and gladness and removed are from your mouth.
6 Ta adda nasion a nangraut iti dagak, nabileg ken saan a mabilang. Dagiti ngipenna ket kas kadagiti ngipen ti leon, ken addaan isuna iti ngipen ti babai a leon.
For a strong and innumerable nation is come up against my land, their teeth are lion's teeth, and their back teeth those of a [lion's] whelp.
7 Pinagbalinna ti kaubasak a nakabutbuteng a lugar ken inukkisanna dagiti kayok nga igos. Inukkisanna sana imbelleng dagitoy; pimmuraw dagiti sangada.
He has ruined my vine, and utterly broken my fig-trees: he has utterly searched [my vine], and cast it down; he has peeled its branches.
8 Agladingitkayo a kas iti maysa a birhen a nagkawes iti nakersang a lupot gapu iti ipapatay ti pakayasawaanna.
Lament to me more than a virgin girded with sackcloth for the husband of her youth.
9 Naibusen ti daton a bukel ken daton a mainum iti balay ni Yahweh. Nagladingit dagiti papadi nga adipen ni Yahweh.
The meat-offering and drink-offering are removed from the house of the Lord: mourn, you priests that serve at the altar of the Lord.
10 Nadadaelen dagiti taltalon, ket agladladingit ti daga. Ta nadadaelen dagiti bukbukel, natianan ti baro nga arak, ken nabangles ti lana.
For the plains languish: let the land mourn, for the corn languishes; the wine is dried up, the oil becomes scarce;
11 Agbainkayo, dakayo a mannalon, ken aganug-ogkayo, dakayo a mangay-aywan iti kaubasan, gapu iti trigo ken sebada. Ta nadadael ti apit kadagiti taltalon.
the husbandmen are consumed: mourn your property on account of the wheat and barley; for the harvest has perished from off the field.
12 Nalaylay dagiti lanut ken nagango dagiti kayo nga igos, dagiti kayo a granada, kasta met dagiti kayo a palma, ken dagiti kayo a mansanas- nalaylay amin a kayo iti talon. Ta napukawen ti rag-o dagiti kaputotan ti sangkataoan.
The vine is dried up, and the fig-trees are become few; the pomegranate, and palm tree, and apple, and all trees of the field are dried up: for the sons of men have have abolished joy.
13 Agkaweskayo iti nakersang a lupot ket agladingitkayo, dakayo a papadi! Aganug-ogkayo, dakayo nga agserserbi iti altar. Umaykayo, agiddakayo nga agpatpatnag a sikakawes iti nakersang a lupot, dakayo nga adipen ti Diosko. Ta naibusen dagiti daton a bukbukel ken dagiti daton a mainum iti balay ti Diosyo.
Gird yourselves [with sackcloth], and lament, you priests: mourn, you that serve at the altar: go in, sleep in sackcloths, you that minister to God: for the meat-offering and drink-offering are withheld from the house of your God.
14 Mangangaykayo iti nasantoan a panagayunar, ket mangangaykayo iti nasantoan a gimong. Ummongenyo dagiti panglakayen ken dagiti amin nga agnanaed iti daga iti balay ni Yahweh a Diosyo ket umasugkayo kenni Yahweh.
Sanctify a fast, proclaim a [solemn] service, gather the elders [and] all the inhabitants of the land into the house of your God, and cry earnestly to the Lord,
15 Anian a nakabutbuteng nga aldaw! Ta umadanin ti aldaw ni Yahweh. Iti daytoy nga aldaw, iyegto ti Mannakabalin-amin ti pannakadadael.
Alas, Alas, Alas for the day! for the day of the Lord is near, and it will come as trouble upon trouble.
16 Saan kadi a napukawen dagiti taraon iti imatangtayo, ken naawanen ti rag-o ken ragsak iti balay ti Diostayo?
[Your] meat has been destroyed before your eyes, joy and gladness from out of the house of your God.
17 Nalungtot dagiti bukel kadagiti nakaimulaanda, naibusen ti naggian dagiti sarusa ken narban dagiti kamalig, ta nalaylay dagiti mula.
The heifers have started at their mangers, the treasures are abolished, the wine presses are broken down; for the corn is withered.
18 Anian ti panagasug dagiti ayup! Agsagsagaba dagiti arban ti baka gapu ta awan ti pagarabanda. Agsagsagaba met dagiti arban dagiti karnero.
What shall we store up for ourselves? the herds of cattle have mourned, because they had no pasture; and the flocks of sheep have been utterly destroyed.
19 O, Yahweh, umas-asugak kenka. Ta inkisap ti apuy dagiti pagpaaraban idiay let-ang, ken inuram ti gil-ayab dagiti amin a kayo kadagiti tay-ak.
To you, O Lord, will I cry: for fire has devoured the fair places of the wilderness, and a flame has burnt up all the trees of the field.
20 Uray pay dagiti ayup iti tay-ak ket agpakpakaasi kenka, ta natianan dagiti waig ken inkisap ti apuy dagiti pagpaaraban idiay let-ang.
And the cattle of the field have looked up to you: for the fountains of waters have been dried up, and fire has devoured the fair places of the wilderness.
