< Daniel 4 >

1 Inwaragawag ni Ari Nebucadnesar daytoy a bilin kadagiti amin a tattao, nasion, ken kadagiti pagsasao nga agnananed iti rabaw ti daga: “Adda koma kappia kadakayo.
Nebuchadnezzar the king, unto all people, nations, and languages, that dwell on all the earth, May your welfare increase.
2 Kasla nasayaat kaniak nga ibaga kadakayo ti maipapan kadagiti pagilasinan ken kadagiti nakaskasdaaw nga inaramid ti Kangangatoan kaniak.
The signs and wonders which the most high God hath wrought toward me I find it for good to make known.
3 Anian a naindaklan dagiti pagilasinanna, ket anian a nagbileg dagiti nakaskasdaaw nga inaramidna! Ti pagarianna ket agnanayon a pagarian, ken agpaut ti panagturayna manipud iti maysa a henerasion agingga iti sumarsaruno a henerasion.”
His signs—how great are they! and his wonders— how mighty are they! his kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and his rule is over every generation.
4 Siak, a ni Nebucadnesar ket agnanaedak a siraragsak iti balayko ket ragragsakek ti kinarang-ay iti palasiok.
Nebuchadnezzar was at rest in my house, and flourishing in my palace.
5 Ngem pinagbutengnak ti maysa a tagtagainepko. Bayat a nakaiddaak sadiay, riniribuknak dagiti ladawan a nakitak ken dagiti sirmata iti panunotko.
I saw a dream which terrified me; and the thoughts upon my couch and the visions of my head troubled me.
6 Isu nga imbilinko nga iyegda iti sangoanak dagiti amin a lallaki ti Babilonia nga addaan iti kinasirib tapno mailawlawagda kaniak ti kaipapanan ti tagtagainep.
Therefore made I a decree to bring before me all the wise men of Babylon, that they might make known unto me the interpretation of the dream.
7 Ket immay dagiti salamangkero, dagiti mangibagbaga a kabaelanda iti makisarita kadagiti natay, dagiti nasirib a lallaki ken dagiti astrologo. Imbagak kadakuada ti tagtagainep, ngem saanda a maipalawag kaniak ti kaipapanan daytoy.
Then came up the magicians, the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers; and the dream did I recite before them; but its interpretation did they not make known unto me.
8 Ngem kamaudiananna, simrek ni Daniel— ti napanaganan iti Beltesazar a kanagnagan ti diosko, ken adda kenkuana ti espiritu dagiti nasantoan a didios. Imbagak kenkuana ti tagtagainep.
But at the last came up before me Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, after the name of my god, and in whom is the spirit of the holy gods; and the dream did I recite before him, [saying, ]
9 “Beltesazar a kangatoan kadagiti salamangkero, ammok nga adda kenka ti espiritu dagiti nasantoan a didios ket awan iti nakaskasdaaw a narigat unay kenka. Ibagam kaniak ti nakitak iti tagtagainepko ken ti kayat a sawen daytoy.
O Belteshazzar, chief of the magicians, of whom I know that the spirit of the holy gods is in thee, and that no secret is concealed from thee, tell me the visions of my dream which I have seen, with its interpretation.
10 Dagitoy dagiti nakitak iti panunotko bayat nga agid-iddaak; “Kimmitaak ket adda maysa a kayo iti tengnga ti daga, ket kasta unay iti kangatona.
And the visions of my head on my couch were, [that] I saw, and behold, there was a tree in the midst of the earth, and its height was great.
11 Dimmakkel ti kayo ket nagbalin a natibker. Dimmanon ti tuktokna kadagiti langit, ken makita daytoy kadagiti pungto ti entero a daga.
The tree grew, and was strong, and its height reached unto heaven, and it was visible to the end of all the earth.
12 Nalangto dagiti bulongna, adu dagiti bungana, ket taraon daytoy para iti amin. Naglinong dagiti atap nga ayup iti sirokna. ken agnanaed kadagiti sangana dagiti billit iti tangatang. Nangan manipud iti bungana dagiti amin a sibibiag a parsua.
Its foliage was splendid, and its fruit large, and on it was food for all: under it sought the beasts of the field for shade, and in its boughs dwelt the fowls of heaven, and from it was fed all flesh.
13 Nakitak iti panunotko bayat nga agid-iddaak, ket maysa a nasantoan a mensahero ti bimmaba manipud kadagiti langit.
I saw in the visions of my head on my couch, and, behold, a watcher who was also a holy one came down from heaven.
14 Impukkawna ket kinunana, Pukanenyo ti kayo ket salingsinganyo dagiti sangana, ikkatenyo dagiti bulongna ket iwarayo dagiti bungana. Bay-anyo a pumanaw dagiti ayup iti sirokna ken tumayab nga umadayo dagiti billit manipud kadagiti sangana.
He called with might, and thus he said, Hew down the trees and lop off its branches, strip off its leaves, and scatter its fruit; let the beasts flee away from under it, and the fowls from among its branches:
15 Ibatiyo iti daga ti pungdol a nagkapetan dagiti ramutna, pulipolanyo iti landok ken bronse, iti tengnga dagiti naganus a ruot iti kataltalonan. Bay-anyo a mabasa daytoy iti linnaaw manipud kadagiti langit. Bay-anyo a makipagnaed kadagiti ayup ken kadagiti mula iti daga.
Nevertheless leave the body of its roots in the earth, but [bound] with fetters of iron and copper, among the grass of the field; and let it be made wet with the dew of heaven, and let its portion be with the beasts on the herbage of the earth;
16 Bay-anyo nga agbaliw ti panunotna manipud iti panunot ti tao, ket agbalin koma a kasla panunot ti ayup ti panunotna agingga nga aglabas iti pito a tawen.
Let his heart be changed not to be human, and let a beast's heart be given unto him; and let seven times elapse over him.
17 Daytoy a pangngeddeng ket babaen iti bilin nga impadamag ti mensahero. Maysa daytoy a pangngeddeng nga inaramid dagiti nasantoan tapno maammoan dagiti sibibiag nga agturturay ti Kangangatoan kadagiti pagarian dagiti tattao ket iyawatna ida iti siasinoman a tarigagayanna a mangituray kadakuada, uray kadagiti kanunumoan a tattao.'
Through the resolve of the watchers is this decree, and by the order of the holy ones is this decision: to the intent that the living may know that the Most High ruleth over the kingdom of men, and that he can give it to whomsoever he pleaseth, and can set up over it the lowest of men.
18 Siak, a ni Ari Nebucadnesar, daytoy ti natagtagainepko. Ita sika, Beltesazar, ibagam kaniak ti kaipapananna, gapu ta awan kadagiti nasirib a lallaki iti pagariak ti makaibaga kaniak iti kaipapanan daytoy. Ngem kabaelam nga aramiden dayta, gapu ta adda kenka ti espiritu dagiti nasantoan a didios.”
This dream have I, king Nebuchadnezzar, seen; but thou, O Belteshazzar, relate its interpretation, forasmuch as all the wise men of my kingdom are not able to make known unto me the interpretation; but thou art able; for the spirit of the holy gods is in thee.
19 Ket napaulimek iti apagbiit ni Daniel a napanaganan met iti Beltesazar, ken nagdanag isuna. Kinuna ti ari, “Beltesazar, saannaka koma a pagdanagen ti tagtagainep wenno ti kaipapanan daytoy.” Insungbat ni Beltesazar, “O apok, para koma kadagiti manggurgura kenka ti tagtagainep; para koma kadagiti kabusormo ti kaipapanan daytoy.
Then was Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, astounded for one hour, and his thoughts troubled him. The king then commenced, and said, Belteshazzar, let not the dream, or its interpretation, trouble thee. Belteshazzar answered and said, My lord, O that the dream might be for those that hate thee, and its interpretation for thy enemies.
20 Ti kayo a nakitam— a dimmakkel ken nagbalin a natibker, ken ti tuktokna ket nakadanon kadagiti langit, ken makita agingga kadagiti pungto ti daga—
The tree that thou hast seen, which grew, and was strong, the height of which reached unto the heaven, and which was visible to all the earth;
21 a nalangto dagiti bulongna, ken adu dagiti bungana, tapno kadagitoy adda taraon para iti amin, ken aglinong iti sirokna dagiti ayup iti kataltalonan, ken agnaed iti daytoy dagiti billit iti tangatang—
The foliage of which was splendid, and the fruit of which was large, and on which was food for all; under which dwelt the beasts of the field, and in the boughs of which nestled the fowls of the heaven: —
22 daytoy a kayo ket sika, O ari, dimmakkelka a natibker. Ad-adda a bimmilegka ket dumanon ti kinabilegmo kadagiti langit, ken dumanon ti turaymo agingga kadagiti pungto ti daga.
It is thou, O king, that art grown and become strong; and thy greatness is grown apace, and reacheth unto heaven, and thy dominion is to the end of the earth.
23 Nakakitaka O ari, iti maysa a nasantoan a mensahero a bumabbaba manipud langit, a kunana, “Pukanenyo ti kayo ket dadaelenyo daytoy ngem ibatiyo ti pungdol a nagkapetan dagiti ramutna iti daga, pulipolanyo daytoy iti landok ken bronse, iti tengnga ti naganus a ruot iti kataltalonan. Bay-anyo a mabasa iti linnaaw manipud kadagiti langit. Bay-anyo a makipagnaed isuna kadagiti atap nga ayup kadagiti kataltalonan agingga nga aglabas ti pito a tawen.'
And whereas the king saw a watcher and a holy one coming down from heaven, who said, Hew the tree down, and destroy it; yet leave the body of its roots in the earth, but [bound] in fetters of iron and copper, among the grass of the field; and let it be made wet with the dew of heaven, and let its portion be with the beasts of the field, till seven times elapse over it: —
24 Kastoy ti kaipapananna O ari. Maysa a bilin daytoy ti Kangangatoan a dimmanon kenka, O apok nga ari.
This is the interpretation, O king, and this is the resolve of the Most High, which will come over my lord the king:
25 Mapapanawkanto iti ayan dagiti tattao, ket agnaedkanto a kaduam dagiti ayup kadagiti kataltalonan. Mangankanto kadagiti ruot a kasla iti maysa a baka, ket mabasakanto iti linnaaw manipud kadagiti langit, ket aglabasto ti pito a tawen agingga a mabigbigmo nga agturturay ti Kangangatoan kadagiti pagarian dagiti tattao ken iyaw-awatna ida iti siasinoman a tarigagayanna.
They will drive thee away from men, and with the beasts of the field is thy dwelling to be, and they will suffer thee to eat herbs like oxen, and they will suffer thee to be made wet with the dew of heaven, and seven times will elapse over thee; until that thou wilt know that the Most High ruleth over the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he pleaseth.
26 Kas iti naibilin a mabati ti pungdol ti ramut ti kayo, iti kastoy a wagas, maisublinto kenka ti pagariam inton tiempo a maammoam nga agturturay ti langit.
And whereas they ordered to leave the body of the roots of the tree: thy kingdom will remain unto thee, as soon as thou wilt know that the Heavens do rule.
27 Ngarud, O ari, makaay-ayo koma kenka ti balakadko. Isardengmon ti agbasbasol ket aramidem no ania ti umno. Agbabawika kadagiti basbasolmo babaen iti panangipakitam iti asi kadagiti maparparigat, ket mabalin a mapabayag ti kinarang-aymo.”
Therefore, O king, let my counsel be agreeable unto thee, and atone for thy sins by righteousness, and for thy iniquities by showing kindness to the poor: perhaps thy prosperity may [thereby] endure long.
All this came over king Nebuchadnezzar.
29 Napasamak amin dagitoy kenni Ari Nebucadnesar kalpasan ti sangapulo ket dua a bulan. Magmagna isuna iti palasio ti ari idiay Babilonia.
At the end of twelve months he was walking upon the royal palace at Babylon.
30 Kuna ti ari, “Saan kadi a daytoy ti nabileg a Babilonia, nga imbangonko para iti naarian a pagtaengak, para iti dayag ti kinatan-okko?”
The king commenced, and said, Is not this Babylon the great, that I myself have built for a royal residence by the might of my power, and for the honor of my majesty?
31 Kabayatan nga ibagbaga pay laeng ti ari daytoy, maysa a timek ti nagtaud iti langit: “Ari Nebucadnesar, naipakaammon kenka a daytoy a pagarian ket saanmon a kukua.
The word was still in the king's mouth, when there fell a voice from heaven, [saying, ] To thee it is said, O king Nebuchadnezzar, The kingdom departeth from thee.
32 Mapapanawkanto manipud iti ayan dagiti tattao, ket makipagtaengkanto kadagiti atap nga ayup kadagiti kataltalonan. Mangankanto kadagiti ruot a kasla iti maysa a baka. Pito a tawen ti aglabas agingga a mabigbigmo a ti Kangangatoan ti agturturay kadagiti pagarian dagiti tattao ken iyaw-awatna ida iti siasinoman a tarigagayanna.”
And from men will they drive thee away, and with the beasts of the field shall thy dwelling be; herbs like oxen will they suffer thee to eat, and seven times shall elapse over thee: until thou wilt know that the Most High ruleth over the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he pleaseth.
33 Naipatungpal a dagus daytoy a bilin a maibusor kenni Nebucadnesar. Napapanaw isuna iti ayan dagiti tattao. Nangan isuna iti ruot a kasla iti maysa baka, ket nabasa ti bagina iti linnaaw manipud kadagiti langit. Immatiddog ti buokna a kas kadagiti dutdot ti agila, ken nagbalin a kasla kuko dagiti billit dagiti kukona.
At the same hour the word was fulfilled upon Nebuchadnezzar; and from men was he driven away, and herbs like oxen had he to eat, and with the dew of heaven was his body made wet: till his hair was grown like eagles' [feathers], and his nails were like birds' [claws].—
34 Ket iti pagpatinggaan dagiti al-aldaw, Siak, a ni Nebucadnesar, intangadko dagiti matak iti langit ket nagsubli kaniak ti kinalimbong ti panunotko. “Dinaydayawko ti Kangangatoan, ket rinaem ken dinayawko ti agbibiag iti agnanayon. Ta ti panagturayna ket awan patinggana a panagturay, ken agpaut ti pagarianna kadagiti amin a henerasion.
But at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up my eyes unto heaven, and my understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the Most High, and I praised and glorified the Everliving, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and whose kingdom is over every generation;
35 Imbilangna nga awan serserbi dagiti agnanaed iti daga; ar-aramidenna kadagiti armada ti langit ken kadagiti agnanaed iti daga aniaman a maikari iti pagayatanna. Awan iti siasinoman a makapasardeng kenkuana wenno mangkarit kenkuana. Awan ti siasinoman a makaibaga kenkuana, 'Apay nga inaramidmo daytoy?'”
And [by whom] all the inhabitants of the earth are regarded as nought; and [who] according to his pleasure doth with the host of heaven and the inhabitants of the earth; while there is none that can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?
36 Iti isu met laeng a tiempo a nagsubli kaniak ti kinalimbong ti panunotko, naisubli kaniak ti kinatan-ok ken kinadayagko para iti dayag ti pagariak. Binirok dagiti mammagbagak ken dagiti ofisialko ti paborko. Naisubliak iti tronok, ket ad-adda a bimmilegak.
At the same time my understanding returned unto me; and with the glory of my kingdom, my honor and my splendor returned unto me; and my counsellors and my lords sought for me: and I was replaced in my kingdom, and additional greatness was added unto me.
37 Ita, siak, a ni Nebucadnesar, dayawek, itan-okko, ken raemek ti Ari ti langit, ta nalinteg dagiti amin nga aramidna, ken nalinteg dagiti wagasna. Kabaelanna nga ipababa dagiti magna iti bukodda a kinatangsit.
Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and glorify the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and whose ways are justice; and who is able to bring low those that walk in pride.
