< Amos 3 >

1 Dakayo a tattao ti Israel, denggenyo daytoy a sao nga imbalikas ni Yahweh maibusor kadakayo, maibusor iti sibubukel a pamilia nga inruarko iti daga ti Egipto,
People of Israel, listen to this message that the Lord has spoken against you—all of you, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt.
2 dakayo laeng ti pinilik manipud kadagiti amin a pamilia iti daga. Isu a dusaenkayonto gapu iti amin a nagbasolanyo.
I chose a special relationship with you alone out of all the families of the earth, and so I will punish you for your wrongdoing.
3 Agkuyog kadi a magna ti dua a tao no saanda a nagtulag?
Can two people walk together unless they have arranged to meet?
4 Agngernger kadi ti leon idiay kabakiran no awan biktimana? Agngernger kadi ti urbon a leon idiay rukibna no awan nakemmegna?
Does a lion roar in the forest before finding its prey? Does a young lion growl from its den if it has caught nothing?
5 Matiliw kadi ti billit iti palab-og nga adda iti daga no awan iti appan a naikabil para iti daytoy? Agpangato kadi ti silo manipud iti daga no awan nasiloanna?
Does a bird fall into a trap and get caught unless the spring is set? Does a trap spring shut if there's nothing there to catch?
6 No aguni ti trumpeta iti maysa a siudad, saan kadi nga agtigerger dagiti tattao? Umay kadi ti didigra iti maysa a siudad no saan nga inyeg ni Yahweh daytoy?
When the trumpet sounds in the city, shouldn't the people be alarmed? When a disaster comes to a city, isn't it the Lord who does it?
7 Awan duadua a saan nga agtignay ni Yahweh nga Apo no saanna pay nga impakaammo ti panggepna kadagiti adipenna a profeta.
For the Lord God does nothing without revealing his intentions to his servants the prophets.
8 Nagngernger ti leon; siasino ti saan nga agbuteng? Nagsao ni Yahweh nga Apo; siasino ti saan a mangipadto?
The lion has roared—so who isn't scared? The Lord God has spoken—so who can refuse to speak for him?
9 Iwaragawagyo daytoy kadagiti sarikedked idiay Asdod, ken kadagiti sarikedked idiay daga ti Egipto; ibagayo: “Aguummongkayo kadagiti banbantay ti Samaria ket kitaenyo ti dakkel a riribok nga adda kenkuana ken ti pannakaidadanes nga adda kenkuana.
Announce this to the fortresses of Ashdod and to the fortresses in the land of Egypt: Assemble yourselves on Samaria's mountains and see all the turmoil and oppression happening in the country.
10 Gapu ta saanda nga ammo ti agaramid iti nalinteg”—daytoy ti imbaga ni Yahweh—”Agur-urnongda iti kinaranggas ken pannakadadael kadagiti sarikedkedda.”
They don't know how to do what is right, declares the Lord. They have stored up in their fortresses what they've taken by violence and robbery.
11 Isu a kastoy ti ibagbaga ni Yahweh nga Apo: “Palawlawanto ti kabusor ti daga. Rebbaenanto dagiti sarikedkedmo ken samsamannanto dagiti sarikedkedmo.”
As a result, says the Lord, an enemy will surround you, break down your strongholds, and plunder your fortresses.
12 Kastoy ti kuna ni Yahweh: “Kas iti panangispal ti agpaspastor iti dua laeng a saka wenno maysa a lapayag manipud iti ngiwat iti leon kastanto met iti pannakaispal dagiti Israelita nga agnanaed iti Samaria, ket ti suli laeng iti sofa wenno maysa laeng a pidaso ti ap-ap ti kama ti maisalbarda.”
This is what the Lord says: Just as a shepherd tries to rescue a sheep from a lion's mouth, but only saves a couple of legs or a piece of an ear, so it will be for the people of Israel living in Samaria—all that will be “saved” will be the corner of a couch and a piece of a leg from a bed.
13 Dumngegkayo ken agsaksikayo maibusor iti balay ni Jacob —kastoy ti impakaammo ti Apo a Yahweh, ti Dios a mannakabalin amin.
Listen! Warn the house of Jacob, declares the Lord God of power.
14 “Ta iti aldaw a dusaek ti basbasol ti Israel, dusaekto met dagiti altar ti Betel. Maputedto dagiti sara ti altar ket matnagto dagitoy iti daga.
For on that day I will punish Israel for their sins. I will destroy the altars of Bethel: the corners of the altar will be cut off and fall to the ground.
15 Dadaelekto ti balay a pagtataenganda iti panawen iti lam-ek ken ti balayda iti kalgaw. Madadaelto dagiti balay a marfil, ken mapukawto dagiti dadakkel a babbalay,” —daytoy ti imbaga ni Yahweh.
I will tear down their winter houses and their summer houses as well, their houses filled with ivory will be ruined—their many houses will be destroyed.
