< I Samuel 20 >

1 Kalpasanna, naglibas ni David manipud Najot iti Rama, immay kenni Jonatan ket kinunana, “Ania kadi ti naaramidko? Ania ti nadagsen a nakabasolak? Ania ti basolko iti amam, a kayatna pay a pukawen ti biagko?”
Then David fled from the dwellings at Ramah, and came and said before Jonathan, "What have I done? What is my iniquity? What is my sin before your father, that he seeks my life?"
2 Kinuna ni Jonatan kenni David, “Adayo a mapasamak dayta; saanka a matay. Awan ti ar-aramiden ti amak a saanna nga ibaga kaniak, dakkel man wenno bassit a banag. Apay koma nga ilimed ti amak daytoy a banag kaniak? Saan a pudno dayta.”
He said to him, "Far from it; you shall not die. Look, my father does nothing either great or small, but that he discloses it to me; and why should my father hide this thing from me? It is not so."
3 Ngem insapata manen ni David ket kinunana, “Ammo la unay ti amam a nasayaat ti pannakikaduam kaniak.” Kinunana, 'Saan koma a maammoan ni Jonatan daytoy, ta amangan no agladingit isuna.' Ngem kas iti kinapudno a sibibiag ni Yahweh, ken agingga a sibibiagka, maysa laengen nga addang ti baetmi kenni patay.”
And David answered and said, "Your father knows well that I have found favor in your eyes; and he says, 'Do not let Jonathan know this, lest he be grieved:' but truly as the LORD lives, and as your soul lives, there is but a step between me and death."
4 Ket kinuna ni Jonatan kenni David, “Aniaman nga ibagam, aramidek para kenka.”
Then Jonathan said to David, "Whatever your soul desires, I will even do it for you."
5 Kinuna ni David kenni Jonatan, “Inton bigat ket baro a bulan, ket masapul a sumangoak a makipangan iti ari. Ngem bay-annak koma a pumanaw, tapno makapaglemmengak iti away agingga iti rabii ti maikatlo nga aldaw.
So David said to Jonathan, "Look, tomorrow is the new moon, and I should not fail to sit with the king to eat. Instead, let me go so that I may hide myself in the field until evening.
6 No birokennak ti amam, ibagam ngarud, “Nagpakada ni David kaniak a mapan biit isuna idiay Betlehem a siudadna, gapu ta isu ti tinawen a panagidatonda sadiay para iti sibubukel a pamiliada.'
If your father missed me at all, then say, 'David urgently requested of me that he might run to Bethlehem his city, for it is the yearly sacrifice there for all the family.'
7 No kunaenna, 'Ala, wen,' maaddaan iti talna ti adipenmo. Ngem no makaunget unay isuna, ammomon a dakes ti pangngeddengna.
If he says, 'It is well;' your servant shall have peace: but if he be angry, then know that evil is determined by him.
8 Ipaaymo ngarud ti kinaimbagmo iti adipenmo. Ta nakitulagka iti adipenmo iti sangoanan ni Yahweh. Ngem no adda basolko, papatayennak; ta apay pay laeng nga iyegnak iti amam?”
Therefore deal kindly with your servant; for you have brought your servant into a covenant of the LORD with you: but if there is iniquity in me, kill me yourself; for why should you bring me to your father?"
9 Kinuna ni Jonatan, “Adayo a mapasamak kenka dayta! No natakuatak koma nga inkeddeng ti amak a madangranka, saanko kadi nga ibaga kenka?”
Jonathan said, "Far be it from you; for if I should at all know that evil were determined by my father to come on you, then wouldn't I tell you that?"
10 Ket kinuna ni David kenni Jonatan, “Siasinonto ti mangibaga kaniak no kas pangarigan ta sungbatannaka a sigugubsang ti amam?”
Then David said to Jonathan, "Who shall tell me if your father answers you harshly?"
11 Kinuna ni Jonatan kenni David, “Umayka, mapanta idiay away.” Ket napanda a dua iti tay-ak.
Jonathan said to David, "Come, and let us go out into the field." They both went out into the field.
12 Kinuna ni Jonatan kenni David, “Saksi koma ni Yahweh a Dios ti Israel. Inton damagek iti amak iti kastoy met laeng nga oras inton bigat, wenno iti maikatlo nga aldaw, denggem, no adda nasayaat a panggep para kenni David, saankonto kadi aya nga ipatulod ken ipakaammo kenka?
Jonathan said to David, "The LORD, the God of Israel, is witness. When I have studied my father, about this time tomorrow, or the third day, look, if there is good toward David, shall I not then send to you, and disclose it to you?
13 No pakaragsakan ti amak ti mangdangran kenka, aramiden koma ni Yahweh kenni Jonatan ken ad-adda pay koma no saanko nga ipakaammo kenka ken saanka a paadaywen, tapno makapanawka a natalna. Ni Yahweh koma ti kumuyog kenka, kas iti pannakikakaaddana iti amak.
God do so to Jonathan, and more also, should it please my father to do you evil, if I do not disclose it to you, and send you away, that you may go in peace. And may the LORD be with you, as he has been with my father.
14 No sibibiagak pay laeng, saanmo kadi nga ipakita kaniak ti kinapudno ni Yahweh iti tulag, tapno saanak koma a matay?
And if I am still alive, deal loyally with me. But if I die,
15 Ket saanmonto koma a putden a maminpinsan ti kinapudnom iti tulagmo iti balayko, inton pukawen ni Yahweh amin a kabusor ni David iti rabaw ti daga.”
do not cut off your loyalty from my house forever. And when the LORD cuts off the enemies of David, each one from the face of the earth,
16 Nakitulag ngarud ni Jonatan iti balay ni David a kunana, “Sapay koma ta singirento ni Yahweh daytoy iti ima dagiti kabusor ni David.”
if the name of Jonathan be cut off from the house of David, then may the LORD require it at the hand of the enemies of David."
17 Pinagsapata manen ni Jonatan ni David gapu iti panagayatna kenkuana, gapu ta ay-ayatenna isuna kas iti panagayatna iti bukodna a kararua.
And Jonathan swore to David again, because he loved him, for he loved him as he loved his own soul.
18 Ket kinuna ni Jonatan kenkuana, “Inton bigat ket baro a bulan. Birokennakanto gapu ta awan ti nakatugaw iti tugawmo.
Then Jonathan said to him, "Tomorrow is the new moon: and you will be missed, because your seat will be empty.
19 Inton nakapagtalinaedka iti tallo nga aldaw, sumalogka a dagus ket umayka iti disso a naglemmengam inton madama a mapagtutungtongan dayta a banag, ket agtalinaedka iti bato nga Ezel.
On the third day you should go down quickly, and come to the place where you hid yourself when this started, and stay by that mound.
20 Mangipanaakto iti tallo a pana iti igid daytoy, a kasla adda panpanaek.
And as for me, on the third day I will shoot arrows to its side, as though I shot at a mark.
21 Ket ibaonkonto ti agtutubok a lalaki ket ibagak kenkuana, 'Mapanmo biroken dagiti impanak. No ibagak iti agtutubo a lalaki, 'Kitaem, adda dagiti pana iti dayta a paset; alaem ida,” ket umayka; ta addanto talged para kenka saan ket a pakadangran, iti nagan ni Yahweh nga adda iti agnanayon.
Look, I will send the boy, saying, 'Go, find the arrows.' If I tell the boy, 'Look, the arrow is on this side of you. Take it;' then come; for there is peace to you and no hurt, as the LORD lives.
22 “Ngem no ibagak iti agtutubo a lalaki, “Kitaem, adda iti labesmo dagiti pana,' nasken a pumanawkan, ta ibabaonnaka ni Yahweh nga umadayo.
But if I say this to the boy, 'Look, the arrow is beyond you;' then go your way; for the LORD has sent you away.
23 Maipanggep iti nagnummoanta, pudno, adda ni Yahweh iti nagbaetanta iti agnanayon.'”
Concerning the matter which you and I have spoken of, look, the LORD is a witness between you and me forever."
24 Naglemmeng ngarud ni David iti tay-ak. Idi dimteng ti baro a bulan, nagtugaw ti ari tapno mangan.
So David hid himself in the field. And when the new moon had come, the king sat at the table to eat.
25 Nagtugaw ti ari iti tugawna, iti masansan a pagtugtugawanna, iti abay ti diding. Timmakder ni Jonatan, ket nagtugaw ni Abner iti abay ni Saul. Ngem awan ti nagtugaw iti tugaw ni David.
The king sat on his seat, as at other times, even on the seat by the wall; and Jonathan sat opposite, and Abner sat by Saul's side: but David's place was empty.
26 Ngem awan ti imbagbaga ni Saul iti dayta nga aldaw, gapu ta impagarupna, “Adda napasamak kenkuana. Saan isuna a nadalus; sigurado saan isuna a nadalus.”
Nevertheless Saul did not say anything that day: for he thought, "Something has happened to him. He is not clean. Surely he is not clean."
27 Ngem iti maikadua nga aldaw, ti aldaw kalpasan ti baro a bulan, awan ti nakatugaw iti tugaw ni David. Kinuna ni Saul kenni Jonatan nga anakna, “Apay a saan nga immay ti anak ni Jesse iti pannangan, uray idi kalman ken ita nga aldaw?”
It happened on the next day after the new moon, the second day, that David's place was empty. Saul said to Jonathan his son, "Why hasn't the son of Jesse come to the table, either yesterday or today?"
28 Simmungbat ni Jonatan kenni Saul, “Nagpakada kaniak ni David a mapan isuna idiay Betlehem.
Jonathan answered Saul, and said, "David earnestly asked leave of me to go to Bethlehem.
29 Kinunana, 'Pangngaasim ta palubosannak. Adda ngamin panagidaton nga aramiden ti pamiliami idiay siudad, ket imbilin ti kabsatko a lalaki nga addaak koma sadiay. Ita, no nasayaatak iti imatangmo, palubosannak koma a mapanko kitaen dagiti kakabsatko a lallaki.' Daytoy ti makagapu a saan isuna nga immay iti lamisaan ti ari.”
He said, 'Please let me go, for our family has a sacrifice in the city. And as for me, my brothers have ordered me to be there. Now, if I have found favor in your eyes, please let me go away and see my brothers.' Therefore he has not come to the king's table."
30 Ket simged ti pungtot ni Saul kenni Jonatan, ket kinunana kenkuana, “Sika nga anak ti dakes ken managsukir a babai! Ti kunam kadi ket saanko nga ammo a pinilim ti anak ni Jesse a pakaibabainam, ken pakaibabainan ti inam a nangipasngay kenka?
Then Saul's anger was kindled against Jonathan, and he said to him, "You son of a perverse rebellious woman, do I not know that you are the companion of the son of Jesse to your own shame, and to the shame of your mother's nakedness?
31 Ta agingga a sibibiag ti anak ni Jesse iti rabaw ti daga, sika man wenno ti pagariam ket saanto a maisaad. Ita ngarud, ibaon ken iyegmo isuna kaniak, ta masapul a matay isuna.”
For as long as the son of Jesse lives on the earth, your kingdom will not be established. Therefore now send and bring him to me, for he shall surely die."
32 Simmungbat ni Jonatan kenni Saul nga amana, “Ania ti makagapu a nasken a mapapatay isuna! Ania ti naaramidna?”
But Jonathan answered Saul, "Why should he be put to death? What has he done?"
33 Ket ginayang ni Saul ni Jonatan tapno patayenna isuna. Isu nga ammon ni Jonatan a kayat unay ti amana a patayen ni David.
Then Saul raised his spear at him to strike him, and Jonathan realized that this evil from his father to kill David was determined.
34 Makapungtot unay a timmakder ni Jonatan iti lamisaan ket saan a nangnangan iti maikadua nga aldaw ti bulan, ta nakaro ti panagladingitna para kenni David, gapu ta imbabain isuna ti amana.
So Jonathan sprang up from the table in fierce anger, and ate no food the second day of the month; for he was grieved for David, because his father had dishonored him.
35 Iti kabigatanna, napan ni Jonatan iti away a nagtulaganda kenni David, ket adda maysa nga agtutubo a lalaki a kaduana.
It happened in the morning, that Jonathan went out into the field at the time appointed with David, and a little boy with him.
36 Kinunana iti agtutubona a lalaki, “Tumarayka ket birokem dagiti pana nga ipanak.” Ket bayat nga agtartaray ti agtutubo a lalaki, nangipana isuna iti maysa a pana iti labesna.
He said to the boy, "Run, find now the arrows which I shoot." And as the boy ran, he shot an arrow, causing it to pass beyond, toward the city.
37 Idi nakadanon ti agtutubo a lalaki iti disso a nagdissoan ti pana nga impana ni Jonatan, pinukkawan ni Jonatan ti agtutubo a lalaki a kunana, “Saan kadi nga adda ti pana iti labesmo?”
When the boy had come to the place of the arrow which Jonathan had shot, Jonathan called after the youth, and said, "Isn't the arrow beyond you?"
38 Ket pinukkawan ni Jonatan ti agtutubo a lalaki, “Darasem! Saanka nga agbayag!” Inurnong ngarud ti lalaki nga agtutubo ni Jonatan dagiti pana ket immay iti ayan ti amona.
Jonathan cried after the boy, "Go fast. Hurry. Do not delay." Jonathan's boy gathered up the arrows, and came to his master.
39 Ngem awan ammo ti agtutubo a lalaki. Da laeng Jonatan ken David ti makaammo iti dayta a banag.
But the boy did not know anything. Only Jonathan and David knew the matter.
40 Inted ni Jonatan dagiti igamna iti agtutubona a lalaki ket kinunana kenkuana, “Mapankan, ipanmo dagitoy iti siudad.”
Jonathan gave his weapons to his boy, and said to him, "Go, carry them to the city."
41 Apaman a nakapanaw ti agtutubo a lalaki, timmakder ni David manipud iti abagatan a paset, nagpakleb iti daga, ket namitlo a daras a nagpakleb isuna iti daga. Naginnagekda iti maysa ken maysa ken nagsinnangitda, ngem nakarkaro ti panagsangsangit ni David.
As soon as the boy was gone, David arose from beside the mound, and fell on his face to the ground, and bowed himself three times. They kissed one another, and wept one with another, and David wept the most.
Jonathan said to David, "Go in peace, because we have both sworn in the name of the LORD, saying, 'The LORD shall be between me and you, and between my descendants and your descendants, forever.'" He arose and departed; and Jonathan went into the city.
