1 १ दाऊद तो बूढ़ा वरन् बहुत बूढ़ा हो गया था, इसलिए उसने अपने पुत्र सुलैमान को इस्राएल पर राजा नियुक्त कर दिया।
When David was old and near the end of his life, he made Solomon his son king over Israel.
He gathered together all the leaders of Israel, with the priests and Levites.
3 ३ जितने लेवीय तीस वर्ष के और उससे अधिक अवस्था के थे, वे गिने गए, और एक-एक पुरुष के गिनने से उनकी गिनती अड़तीस हजार हुई।
The Levites who were thirty years old and older were counted. They numbered thirty-eight thousand.
4 ४ इनमें से चौबीस हजार तो यहोवा के भवन का काम चलाने के लिये नियुक्त हुए, और छः हजार सरदार और न्यायी।
“Of these, twenty-four thousand were to oversee the work of Yahweh's house, and six thousand were officers and judges.
5 ५ और चार हजार द्वारपाल नियुक्त हुए, और चार हजार उन बाजों से यहोवा की स्तुति करने के लिये ठहराए गए जो दाऊद ने स्तुति करने के लिये बनाए थे।
Four thousand were gatekeepers, and four thousand were to praise Yahweh with the instruments that I made to give praise,” David said.
6 ६ फिर दाऊद ने उनको गेर्शोन, कहात और मरारी नामक लेवी के पुत्रों के अनुसार दलों में अलग-अलग कर दिया।
He divided them into groups that corresponded to Levi's sons: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
From the clans descended from Gershon, there were Ladan and Shimei.
There were three of Ladan's sons: Jehiel the leader, Zetham, and Joel.
9 ९ शिमी के पुत्र: शलोमीत, हजीएल और हारान ये तीन थे। लादान के कुल के पूर्वजों के घरानों के मुख्य पुरुष ये ही थे।
There were three of Shimei's sons: Shelomoth, Haziel, and Haran. These were the leaders of the clans of Ladan.
There were four of Shimei's sons: Jahath, Ziza, Jeush, and Beriah.
11 ११ यहत मुख्य था, और जीजा दूसरा; यूश और बरीआ के बहुत बेटे न हुए, इस कारण वे सब मिलकर पितरों का एक ही घराना ठहरे।
Jahath was the oldest, and Ziza the second, but Jeush and Beriah did not have many sons, so they were considered as one clan with the same duties.
There were four of Kohath's sons: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel.
13 १३ हारून तो इसलिए अलग किया गया, कि वह और उसकी सन्तान सदा परमपवित्र वस्तुओं को पवित्र ठहराएँ, और सदा यहोवा के सम्मुख धूप जलाया करें और उसकी सेवा टहल करें, और उसके नाम से आशीर्वाद दिया करें।
These were Amram's sons: Aaron and Moses. Aaron was chosen to set apart the most holy things, that he and his descendants would offer incense before Yahweh, to serve him and to give blessings in his name forever.
But as for Moses the man of God, his sons were considered to be Levites.
Moses' sons were Gershom and Eliezer.
Gershom's descendant was Shubael the oldest.
17 १७ एलीएजेर के पुत्र: रहब्याह मुख्य; और एलीएजेर के और कोई पुत्र न हुआ, परन्तु रहब्याह के बहुत से बेटे हुए।
Eliezer's descendant was Rehabiah. Eliezer had no other sons, but Rehabiah had many descendants.
Izhar's son was Shelomith the leader.
Hebron's descendants were Jeriah, the oldest, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, and Jekameam the fourth.
Uzziel's sons were Micah the oldest, and Ishijah the second.
Merari's sons were Mahli and Mushi. Mahli's sons were Eleazar and Kish.
22 २२ एलीआजर पुत्रहीन मर गया, उसके केवल बेटियाँ हुईं; अतः कीश के पुत्रों ने जो उनके भाई थे उन्हें ब्याह लिया।
Eleazar died without having any sons. He had only daughters. The sons of Kish married them.
Mushi's three sons were Mahli, Eder, and Jerimoth.
24 २४ लेवीय पितरों के घरानों के मुख्य पुरुष ये ही थे, ये नाम ले लेकर, एक-एक पुरुष करके गिने गए, और बीस वर्ष की या उससे अधिक अवस्था के थे और यहोवा के भवन में सेवा टहल करते थे।
These were Levi's descendants corresponding to their clans. They were the leaders, counted and listed by name, of the clans that did the work in the service of Yahweh's house, from twenty years old and upward.
25 २५ क्योंकि दाऊद ने कहा, “इस्राएल के परमेश्वर यहोवा ने अपनी प्रजा को विश्राम दिया है, कि वे यरूशलेम में सदैव रह सकें।
For David said, “Yahweh, the God of Israel, has given rest to his people. He makes his home in Jerusalem forever.
The Levites will no longer need to carry the tabernacle and all the equipment used in its service.”
For by David's last words the Levites were counted, from twenty years old and upward.
28 २८ क्योंकि उनका काम तो हारून की सन्तान की सेवा टहल करना था, अर्थात् यह कि वे आँगनों और कोठरियों में, और सब पवित्र वस्तुओं के शुद्ध करने में और परमेश्वर के भवन की उपासना के सब कामों में सेवा टहल करें;
Their duty was to assist Aaron's descendants in the service of Yahweh's house. They were to care for the courtyards, the rooms, the ceremonial purification of all the things that belong to Yahweh, and other work in the service of God's house.
29 २९ और भेंट की रोटी का, अन्नबलियों के मैदे का, और अख़मीरी पपड़ियों का, और तवे पर बनाए हुए और सने हुए का, और मापने और तौलने के सब प्रकार का काम करें।
They also took care of the bread of the presence, the fine flour for grain offerings, the unleavened wafers, the baked offerings, the offerings mixed with oil, and all the measuring of the amounts and sizes of things.
They also stood every morning to thank and praise Yahweh. They also did this in the evening
31 ३१ और विश्रामदिनों और नये चाँद के दिनों, और नियत पर्वों में गिनती के नियम के अनुसार नित्य यहोवा के सब होमबलियों को चढ़ाएँ;
and whenever burnt offerings were offered to Yahweh, on the Sabbath and at the new moon festivals and feast days. A fixed number, assigned by decree, always had to be present before Yahweh.
32 ३२ और यहोवा के भवन की उपासना के विषय मिलापवाले तम्बू और पवित्रस्थान की रक्षा करें, और अपने भाई हारूनियों के सौंपे हुए काम को चौकसी से करें।
They were in charge of the tent of meeting, the holy place, and helped their fellow descendants of Aaron in the service of Yahweh's house.
