1 शमूएल 22

1 तब दावीद ने गाथ से कूच कर अदुल्लाम की एक गुफा में आसरा लिया. जब उनके भाइयों तथा उनके पिता के परिवार को यह मालूम हुआ, वे सभी उनसे भेंटकरने वहां गए.

David therefore departed thence, and escaped to the cave of Adullam: and when his brethren and all his father’s house heard it, they went down thither to him.

2 वे सभी, जो किसी भी प्रकार की उलझन में थे, जो ऋण के बोझ में दबे जा रहे थे, तथा वे, जिनमें किसी कारण असंतोष समाया हुआ था, दावीद के पास इकट्ठा होने लगे, और दावीद ऐसों के लिए नायक सिद्ध हुए. ऐसे होते-होते उनके पास लगभग चार सौ व्यक्ति इकट्ठा हो गए.

And every one that was in distress, and every one that was in debt, and every one that was discontented, gathered themselves unto him; and he became captain over them: and there were with him about four hundred men.

3 फिर दावीद वहां से मोआब के मिज़पाह नामक स्थान को चले गए. वहां उन्होंने मोआब के राजा से विनती की, “जब तक परमेश्वर मुझ पर अपनी इच्छा प्रकट न करें, कृपया मेरे माता-पिता को यहां रहने की अनुमति दे दीजिए!”

And David went thence to Mizpeh of Moab: and he said unto the king of Moab, Let my father and my mother, I pray thee, come forth, [and be] with you, till I know what God will do for me.

4 तब दावीद ने उन्हें मोआब के राजा के यहां ठहरा दिया, और जब तक दावीद गढ़ में निवास करते रहे वे वहां उनके साथ रहे.

And he brought them before the king of Moab: and they dwelt with him all the while that David was in the stronghold.

5 तब भविष्यद्वक्ता गाद ने दावीद से कहा, “अब गढ़ में निवास न करो. बल्कि अब तुम यहूदिया प्रदेश में चले जाओ.” तब दावीद हेरेथ के वन में जाकर रहने लगे.

And the prophet Gad said unto David, Abide not in the stronghold; depart, and get thee into the land of Judah. Then David departed, and came into the forest of Hereth.

6 मगर शाऊल को इस बात का पता चल ही गया कि दावीद और उनके साथी कहां हैं. उस दिन शाऊल गिबियाह नामक स्थान पर एक टीले पर झाड़ वृक्ष के नीचे बैठे हुए थे. उनके हाथ में बर्छी थी और उनके आस-पास उनके अधिकारी भी थे.

And Saul heard that David was discovered, and the men that were with him: now Saul was sitting in Gibeah, under the tamarisk-tree in Ramah, with his spear in his hand, and all his servants were standing about him.

7 शाऊल ने अपने आस-पास के अधिकारियों से कहा, “बिन्यामिन के लोगों! ध्यान से सुनो, क्या यिशै का पुत्र तुम्हें खेत और अंगूर के बगीचे देगा? क्या वह तुम्हें हज़ार सैनिकों पर और सौ-सौ सैनिकों पर अधिकारी चुनेगा?

And Saul said unto his servants that stood about him, Hear now, ye Benjamites; will the son of Jesse give every one of you fields and vineyards, will he make you all captains of thousands and captains of hundreds,

8 तुम सबने मेरे विरुद्ध एका क्यों किया है? कोई भी मुझे सूचना नहीं देता, जब मेरा अपना पुत्र इस यिशै के पुत्र के साथ वाचा बांध लेता है. तुममें से किसी को भी मुझ पर तरस नहीं आता. किसी ने मुझे सूचना नहीं दी कि मेरे अपने पुत्र ने मेरे ही सेवक को मेरे ही विरुद्ध घात लगाकर बैठने का आदेश दे रखा है, जैसा कि आज यहां हो रहा है.”

that all of you have conspired against me, and there is none that discloseth to me when my son maketh a league with the son of Jesse, and there is none of you that is sorry for me, or discloseth unto me that my son hath stirred up my servant against me, to lie in wait, as at this day?

9 मगर एदोमवासी दोएग ने, जो इस समय शाऊल के अधिकारियों के साथ ही था, उन्हें उत्तर दिया, “मैंने यिशै के इस पुत्र को नोब नगर में अहीतूब के पुत्र अहीमेलेख से भेंटकरते देखा है.

Then answered Doeg the Edomite, who stood by the servants of Saul, and said, I saw the son of Jesse coming to Nob, to Ahimelech the son of Ahitub.

10 अहीमेलेख ने दावीद के लिए याहवेह से पूछताछ की, उसे भोजन दिया, साथ ही उस फिलिस्तीनी गोलियथ की तलवार भी.”

And he inquired of Jehovah for him, and gave him victuals, and gave him the sword of Goliath the Philistine.

11 तब राजा ने अहीतूब के पुत्र, पुरोहित अहीमेलेख को बुलाने का आदेश दिया; न केवल उन्हें ही, बल्कि नोब नगर में उनके पिता के परिवार के सारे पुरोहितों को भी. वे सभी राजा की उपस्थिति में आ गए.

Then the king sent to call Ahimelech the priest, the son of Ahitub, and all his father’s house, the priests that were in Nob: and they came all of them to the king.

12 तब उन्हें शाऊल ने कहा, “अहीतूब के पुत्र, ध्यान से सुनो.” अहीमेलेख ने उत्तर दिया, “आज्ञा दीजिए, मेरे स्वामी!”

And Saul said, Hear now, thou son of Ahitub. And he answered, Here I am, my lord.

13 शाऊल ने उनसे कहा, “क्या कारण है कि तुमने और यिशै के पुत्र ने मिलकर मेरे विरुद्ध षड़्‍यंत्र रचा है? तुमने उसे भोजन दिया, उसे तलवार दी, और उसके भले के लिए परमेश्वर से प्रार्थना भी की. अब वह मेरा विरोधी हो गया है, और आज स्थिति यह है कि वह मेरे लिए घात लगाए बैठा है?”

And Saul said unto him, Why have ye conspired against me, thou and the son of Jesse, in that thou hast given him bread, and a sword, and hast inquired of God for him, that he should rise against me, to lie in wait, as at this day?

14 अहीमेलेख ने राजा को उत्तर में कहा, “महाराज, आप ही बताइए आपके सारे सेवकों में दावीद के तुल्य विश्वासयोग्य और कौन है? वह राजा के दामाद हैं, वह आपके अंगरक्षकों के प्रधान हैं, तथा इन सबके अलावा वह आपके परिवार में बहुत ही सम्माननीय हैं!

Then Ahimelech answered the king, and said, And who among all thy servants is so faithful as David, who is the king’s son-in-law, and is taken into thy council, and is honorable in thy house?

15 क्या आज पहला मौका है, जो मैंने उनके लिए परमेश्वर से प्रार्थना की है? जी नहीं! महाराज, न तो मुझ पर और न मेरे पिता के परिवार पर कोई ऐसे आरोप लगाएं. क्योंकि आपके सेवक को इन विषयों का कोई पता नहीं है, न पूरी तरह और न ही थोड़ा भी.”

Have I to-day begun to inquire of God for him? be it far from me: let not the king impute anything unto his servant, nor to all the house of my father; for thy servant knoweth nothing of all this, less or more.

16 मगर राजा ने उन्हें उत्तर दिया, “अहीमेलेख, आपके लिए तथा आपके पूरे परिवार के लिए मृत्यु दंड तय है.”

And the king said, Thou shalt surely die, Ahimelech, thou, and all thy father’s house.

17 तब राजा ने अपने पास खड़े रक्षकों को आदेश दिया: “आगे बढ़कर याहवेह के इन पुरोहितों को खत्म करो, क्योंकि ये सभी दावीद ही के सहयोगी हैं. इन्हें यह मालूम था कि वह मुझसे बचकर भाग रहा है, फिर भी इन्होंने मुझे इसकी सूचना नहीं दी.” मगर राजा के अंगरक्षक याहवेह के पुरोहितों पर प्रहार करने में हिचकते रहे.

And the king said unto the guard that stood about him, Turn, and slay the priests of Jehovah; because their hand also is with David, and because they knew that he fled, and did not disclose it to me. But the servants of the king would not put forth their hand to fall upon the priests of Jehovah.

18 यह देख राजा ने दोएग को आदेश दिया, “चलो, आगे आओ और तुम करो इन सबका वध.” तब एदोमी दोएग आगे बढ़ा और उस दिन उसने पुरोहितों के पवित्र वस्त्र धारण किए हुए पचासी व्यक्तियों का वध कर दिया.

And the king said to Doeg, Turn thou, and fall upon the priests. And Doeg the Edomite turned, and he fell upon the priests, and he slew on that day fourscore and five persons that did wear a linen ephod.

19 तब उसने पुरोहितों के नगर नोब जाकर वहां; स्त्रियों, पुरुषों, बालकों, शिशुओं, बैलों, गधों तथा भेड़ों को, सभी को, तलवार से घात कर दिया.

And Nob, the city of the priests, smote he with the edge of the sword, both men and women, children and sucklings, and oxen and asses and sheep, with the edge of the sword.

20 मगर अहीतूब के पुत्र अहीमेलेख के पुत्रों में से एक बच निकला और दावीद के पास जा पहुंचा. उसका नाम अबीयाथर था.

And one of the sons of Ahimelech, the son of Ahitub, named Abiathar, escaped, and fled after David.

21 अबीयाथर ने दावीद को सूचना दी कि शाऊल ने याहवेह के पुरोहितों का वध करवा दिया है.

And Abiathar told David that Saul had slain Jehovah’s priests.

22 तब दावीद ने अबीयाथर से कहा, “उस दिन, जब मैंने एदोमी दोएग को वहां देखा, मुझे यह लग रहा था कि वह अवश्य ही जाकर शाऊल को उसकी सूचना दे देगा. तुम्हारे पिता के परिवार की मृत्यु का दोषी में ही हूं.

And David said unto Abiathar, I knew on that day, when Doeg the Edomite was there, that he would surely tell Saul: I have occasioned [the death] of all the persons of thy father’s house.

23 अब तुम मेरे ही साथ रहो. अब तुम्हें डरने की कोई आवश्यकता नहीं है. जो कोई मेरे प्राणों का प्यासा है, वही तुम्हारे प्राणों का भी प्यासा है. मेरे साथ तुम सुरक्षित हो.”

Abide thou with me, fear not; for he that seeketh my life seeketh thy life: for with me thou shalt be in safeguard.
