Aionian Verses
| ויקמו כל בניו וכל בנתיו לנחמו וימאן להתנחם ויאמר כי ארד אל בני אבל שאלה ויבך אתו אביו׃ (Sheol ) |
And all his sons and all his daughters came to give him comfort, but he would not be comforted, saying with weeping, I will go down to the underworld to my son. So great was his father's sorrow for him. (Sheol )
| ויאמר לא ירד בני עמכם כי אחיו מת והוא לבדו נשאר וקראהו אסון בדרך אשר תלכו בה והורדתם את שיבתי ביגון שאולה׃ (Sheol ) |
And he said, I will not let my son go down with you; for his brother is dead and he is all I have: if evil overtakes him on the journey, then through you will my grey head go down to the underworld in sorrow. (Sheol )
| ולקחתם גם את זה מעם פני וקרהו אסון והורדתם את שיבתי ברעה שאלה׃ (Sheol ) |
If now you take this one from me, and some evil comes to him, you will make my grey head go down in sorrow to the underworld. (Sheol )
| והיה כראותו כי אין הנער ומת והורידו עבדיך את שיבת עבדך אבינו ביגון שאלה׃ (Sheol ) |
When he sees that the boy is not with us, he will come to his death, and our father's grey head will go down in sorrow to the underworld. (Sheol )
| ואם בריאה יברא יהוה ופצתה האדמה את פיה ובלעה אתם ואת כל אשר להם וירדו חיים שאלה וידעתם כי נאצו האנשים האלה את יהוה׃ (Sheol ) |
But if the Lord does something new, opening the earth to take them in, with everything which is theirs, and they go down living into the underworld, then it will be clear to you that the Lord has not been honoured by these men. (Sheol )
| וירדו הם וכל אשר להם חיים שאלה ותכס עליהם הארץ ויאבדו מתוך הקהל׃ (Sheol ) |
So they and all theirs went down living into the underworld, and the earth was shut over them, and they were cut off from among the meeting of the people. (Sheol )
| כי אש קדחה באפי ותיקד עד שאול תחתית ותאכל ארץ ויבלה ותלהט מוסדי הרים׃ (Sheol ) |
For my wrath is a flaming fire, burning to the deep parts of the underworld, burning up the earth with her increase, and firing the deep roots of the mountains. (Sheol )
| יהוה ממית ומחיה מוריד שאול ויעל׃ (Sheol ) |
The Lord is the giver of death and life: sending men down to the underworld and lifting them up. (Sheol )
| חבלי שאול סבני קדמני מקשי מות׃ (Sheol ) |
The cords of hell were round me: the nets of death came on me. (Sheol )
| ועשית כחכמתך ולא תורד שיבתו בשלם שאל׃ (Sheol ) |
So be guided by your wisdom, and let not his white head go down to the underworld in peace. (Sheol )
| ועתה אל תנקהו כי איש חכם אתה וידעת את אשר תעשה לו והורדת את שיבתו בדם שאול׃ (Sheol ) |
But do not let him be free from punishment, for you are a wise man; and it will be clear to you what you have to do with him; see that his white head goes down to the underworld in blood. (Sheol )
| כלה ענן וילך כן יורד שאול לא יעלה׃ (Sheol ) |
A cloud comes to an end and is gone; so he who goes down into the underworld comes not up again. (Sheol )
| גבהי שמים מה תפעל עמקה משאול מה תדע׃ (Sheol ) |
They are higher than heaven; what is there for you to do? deeper than the underworld, and outside your knowledge; (Sheol )
| מי יתן בשאול תצפנני תסתירני עד שוב אפך תשית לי חק ותזכרני׃ (Sheol ) |
If only you would keep me safe in the underworld, putting me in a secret place till your wrath is past, giving me a fixed time when I might come to your memory again! (Sheol )
| אם אקוה שאול ביתי בחשך רפדתי יצועי׃ (Sheol ) |
If I am waiting for the underworld as my house, if I have made my bed in the dark; (Sheol )
| בדי שאל תרדנה אם יחד על עפר נחת׃ (Sheol ) |
Will they go down with me into the underworld? Will we go down together into the dust? (Sheol )
| יבלו בטוב ימיהם וברגע שאול יחתו׃ (Sheol ) |
Their days come to an end without trouble, and suddenly they go down to the underworld. (Sheol )
| ציה גם חם יגזלו מימי שלג שאול חטאו׃ (Sheol ) |
Snow waters become dry with the heat: so do sinners go down into the underworld. (Sheol )
| ערום שאול נגדו ואין כסות לאבדון׃ (Sheol ) |
The underworld is uncovered before him, and Destruction has no veil. (Sheol )
| כי אין במות זכרך בשאול מי יודה לך׃ (Sheol ) |
For in death there is no memory of you; in the underworld who will give you praise? (Sheol )
| ישובו רשעים לשאולה כל גוים שכחי אלהים׃ (Sheol ) |
The sinners and all the nations who have no memory of God will be turned into the underworld. (Sheol )
| כי לא תעזב נפשי לשאול לא תתן חסידך לראות שחת׃ (Sheol ) |
For you will not let my soul be prisoned in the underworld; you will not let your loved one see the place of death. (Sheol )
| חבלי שאול סבבוני קדמוני מוקשי מות׃ (Sheol ) |
The cords of hell were round me: the nets of death came on me. (Sheol )
| יהוה העלית מן שאול נפשי חייתני מיורדי בור׃ (Sheol ) |
O Lord, you have made my soul come again from the underworld: you have given me life and kept me from going down among the dead. (Sheol )
| יהוה אל אבושה כי קראתיך יבשו רשעים ידמו לשאול׃ (Sheol ) |
Let me not be shamed, O Lord, for I have made my prayer to you; let the sinners be shamed, and let their mouths be shut in the underworld. (Sheol )
| כצאן לשאול שתו מות ירעם וירדו בם ישרים לבקר וצירם לבלות שאול מזבל לו׃ (Sheol ) |
Death will give them their food like sheep; the underworld is their fate and they will go down into it; their flesh is food for worms; their form is wasted away; the underworld is their resting-place for ever. (Sheol )
| אך אלהים יפדה נפשי מיד שאול כי יקחני סלה׃ (Sheol ) |
But God will get back my soul; for he will take me from the power of death. (Selah) (Sheol )
| ישימות עלימו ירדו שאול חיים כי רעות במגורם בקרבם׃ (Sheol ) |
Let the hand of death come on them suddenly, and let them go down living into the underworld; because evil is in their houses and in their hearts. (Sheol )
| כי חסדך גדול עלי והצלת נפשי משאול תחתיה׃ (Sheol ) |
For your mercy to me is great; you have taken my soul up from the deep places of the underworld. (Sheol )
| כי שבעה ברעות נפשי וחיי לשאול הגיעו׃ (Sheol ) |
For my soul is full of evils, and my life has come near to the underworld. (Sheol )
| מי גבר יחיה ולא יראה מות ימלט נפשו מיד שאול סלה׃ (Sheol ) |
What man now living will not see death? will he be able to keep back his soul from the underworld? (Selah) (Sheol )
| אפפוני חבלי מות ומצרי שאול מצאוני צרה ויגון אמצא׃ (Sheol ) |
The nets of death were round me, and the pains of the underworld had me in their grip; I was full of trouble and sorrow. (Sheol )
| אם אסק שמים שם אתה ואציעה שאול הנך׃ (Sheol ) |
If I go up to heaven, you are there: or if I make my bed in the underworld, you are there. (Sheol )
| כמו פלח ובקע בארץ נפזרו עצמינו לפי שאול׃ (Sheol ) |
Our bones are broken up at the mouth of the underworld, as the earth is broken by the plough. (Sheol )
| נבלעם כשאול חיים ותמימים כיורדי בור׃ (Sheol ) |
Let us overcome them living, like the underworld, and in their strength, as those who go down to death; (Sheol )
| רגליה ירדות מות שאול צעדיה יתמכו׃ (Sheol ) |
Her feet go down to death, and her steps to the underworld; (Sheol )
| דרכי שאול ביתה ירדות אל חדרי מות׃ (Sheol ) |
Her house is the way to the underworld, going down to the rooms of death. (Sheol )
| ולא ידע כי רפאים שם בעמקי שאול קראיה׃ (Sheol ) |
But he does not see that the dead are there, that her guests are in the deep places of the underworld. (Sheol )
| שאול ואבדון נגד יהוה אף כי לבות בני אדם׃ (Sheol ) |
Before the Lord are the underworld and destruction: how much more, then, the hearts of the children of men! (Sheol )
| ארח חיים למעלה למשכיל למען סור משאול מטה׃ (Sheol ) |
Acting wisely is the way of life, guiding a man away from the underworld. (Sheol )
| אתה בשבט תכנו ונפשו משאול תציל׃ (Sheol ) |
Give him blows with the rod, and keep his soul safe from the underworld. (Sheol )
| שאול ואבדה לא תשבענה ועיני האדם לא תשבענה׃ (Sheol ) |
The underworld and Abaddon are never full, and the eyes of man have never enough. (Sheol )
| שאול ועצר רחם ארץ לא שבעה מים ואש לא אמרה הון׃ (Sheol ) |
The underworld, and the woman without a child; the earth which never has enough water, and the fire which never says, Enough. (Sheol )
| כל אשר תמצא ידך לעשות בכחך עשה כי אין מעשה וחשבון ודעת וחכמה בשאול אשר אתה הלך שמה׃ (Sheol ) |
Whatever comes to your hand to do with all your power, do it because there is no work, or thought, or knowledge, or wisdom in the place of the dead to which you are going. (Sheol )
| שימני כחותם על לבך כחותם על זרועך כי עזה כמות אהבה קשה כשאול קנאה רשפיה רשפי אש שלהבתיה׃ (Sheol ) |
Put me as a sign on your heart, as a sign on your arm; love is strong as death, and wrath bitter as the underworld: its coals are coals of fire; violent are its flames. (Sheol )
| לכן הרחיבה שאול נפשה ופערה פיה לבלי חק וירד הדרה והמונה ושאונה ועלז בה׃ (Sheol ) |
For this cause the underworld has made wide its throat, opening its mouth without limit: and her glory, and the noise of her masses, and her loud-voiced feasters, will go down into it. (Sheol )
| שאל לך אות מעם יהוה אלהיך העמק שאלה או הגבה למעלה׃ (Sheol ) |
Make a request to the Lord your God for a sign, a sign in the deep places of the underworld, or in the high heavens. (Sheol )
| שאול מתחת רגזה לך לקראת בואך עורר לך רפאים כל עתודי ארץ הקים מכסאותם כל מלכי גוים׃ (Sheol ) |
The underworld is moved at your coming: the shades of the dead are awake before you, even the strong ones of the earth; all the kings of the world have got up from their seats. (Sheol )
| הורד שאול גאונך המית נבליך תחתיך יצע רמה ומכסיך תולעה׃ (Sheol ) |
Your pride has gone down into the underworld, and the noise of your instruments of music; the worms are under you, and your body is covered with them. (Sheol )
| אך אל שאול תורד אל ירכתי בור׃ (Sheol ) |
But you will come down to the underworld, even to its inmost parts. (Sheol )
| כי אמרתם כרתנו ברית את מות ועם שאול עשינו חזה שיט שוטף כי עבר לא יבואנו כי שמנו כזב מחסנו ובשקר נסתרנו׃ (Sheol ) |
Because you have said, We have made death our friend, and with the underworld we have made an agreement; when the overflowing waters come through they will not come near us; for we are looking to false words for help, taking cover in what is untrue: (Sheol )
| וכפר בריתכם את מות וחזותכם את שאול לא תקום שוט שוטף כי יעבר והייתם לו למרמס׃ (Sheol ) |
And the help you were looking for from death will come to nothing, and your agreement with the underworld will be broken; when the overflowing waters come through, then you will be overcome by them. (Sheol )
| אני אמרתי בדמי ימי אלכה בשערי שאול פקדתי יתר שנותי׃ (Sheol ) |
I said, In the quiet of my days I am going down into the underworld: the rest of my years are being taken away from me. (Sheol )
| כי לא שאול תודך מות יהללך לא ישברו יורדי בור אל אמתך׃ (Sheol ) |
For the underworld is not able to give you praise, death gives you no honour: for those who go down into the underworld there is no hope in your mercy. (Sheol )
| ותשרי למלך בשמן ותרבי רקחיך ותשלחי צריך עד מרחק ותשפילי עד שאול׃ (Sheol ) |
And you went to Melech with oil and much perfume, and you sent your representatives far off, and went as low as the underworld. (Sheol )
| כה אמר אדני יהוה ביום רדתו שאולה האבלתי כסתי עליו את תהום ואמנע נהרותיה ויכלאו מים רבים ואקדר עליו לבנון וכל עצי השדה עליו עלפה׃ (Sheol ) |
This is what the Lord has said: The day when he goes down to the underworld, I will make the deep full of grief for him; I will keep back her streams and the great waters will be stopped: I will make Lebanon dark for him, and all the trees of the field will be feeble because of him. (Sheol )
| מקול מפלתו הרעשתי גוים בהורדי אתו שאולה את יורדי בור וינחמו בארץ תחתית כל עצי עדן מבחר וטוב לבנון כל שתי מים׃ (Sheol ) |
I will send shaking on the nations at the sound of his fall, when I send him down to the underworld with those who go down into the deep: and on earth they will be comforting themselves, all the trees of Eden, the best of Lebanon, even all the watered ones. (Sheol )
| גם הם אתו ירדו שאלה אל חללי חרב וזרעו ישבו בצלו בתוך גוים׃ (Sheol ) |
And they will go down with him to the underworld, to those who have been put to the sword; even those who were his helpers, living under his shade among the nations (Sheol )
| ידברו לו אלי גבורים מתוך שאול את עזריו ירדו שכבו הערלים חללי חרב׃ (Sheol ) |
The strong among the great ones will say to him from the underworld, Are you more beautiful than any? go down, you and your helpers, and take your rest among those without circumcision, and those who have been put to the sword. (Sheol )
| ולא ישכבו את גבורים נפלים מערלים אשר ירדו שאול בכלי מלחמתם ויתנו את חרבותם תחת ראשיהם ותהי עונתם על עצמותם כי חתית גבורים בארץ חיים׃ (Sheol ) |
And they have been put to rest with the fighting men who came to their end in days long past, who went down to the underworld with their instruments of war, placing their swords under their heads, and their body-covers are over their bones; for their strength was a cause of fear in the land of the living. (Sheol )
| מיד שאול אפדם ממות אגאלם אהי דבריך מות אהי קטבך שאול נחם יסתר מעיני׃ (Sheol ) |
I will give the price to make them free from the power of the underworld, I will be their saviour from death: O death! where are your pains? O underworld! where is your destruction? my eyes will have no pity. (Sheol )
| אם יחתרו בשאול משם ידי תקחם ואם יעלו השמים משם אורידם׃ (Sheol ) |
Even if they go deep into the underworld, my hand will take them up from there; if they go up to heaven, I will get them down: (Sheol )
| ויאמר קראתי מצרה לי אל יהוה ויענני מבטן שאול שועתי שמעת קולי׃ (Sheol ) |
In my trouble I was crying to the Lord, and he gave me an answer; out of the deepest underworld I sent up a cry, and you gave ear to my voice. (Sheol )
| ואף כי היין בוגד גבר יהיר ולא ינוה אשר הרחיב כשאול נפשו והוא כמות ולא ישבע ויאסף אליו כל הגוים ויקבץ אליו כל העמים׃ (Sheol ) |
A curse on the cruel and false one! the man full of pride, who never has enough; who makes his desires wide as the underworld! he is like death; he is never full, but he makes all nations come to him, getting all peoples together to himself. (Sheol )
| אבל אני אמר לכם כל אשר יקצף על אחיו חנם מחיב הוא לבית דין ואשר יאמר אל אחיו רקא מחיב הוא לסנהדרין ואשר יאמר אתה הנבל מחיב לאש גיהנם׃ (Geenna ) |
But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be in danger of being judged; and he who says to his brother, Raca, will be in danger from the Sanhedrin; and whoever says, You foolish one, will be in danger of the hell of fire. (Geenna )
| ואם תכשילך עין ימינך נקר אותה והשלך ממך כי טוב לך אשר יאבד אחד מאבריך מרדת כל גופך אל גיהנם׃ (Geenna ) |
And if your right eye is a cause of trouble to you, take it out and put it away from you; because it is better to undergo the loss of one part, than for all your body to go into hell. (Geenna )
| ואם ידך הימנית תכשילך קצץ אותה והשלך ממך כי טוב לך אשר יאבד אחד מאבריך מרדת כל גופך אל גיהנם׃ (Geenna ) |
And if your right hand is a cause of trouble to you, let it be cut off and put it away from you; because it is better to undergo the loss of one part, than for all your body to go into hell. (Geenna )
| ואל תיראי מן ההרגים את הגוף ואת הנפש לא יוכלו להרג אך תיראו את אשר יוכל לאבד גם את הנפש גם את הגוף בגיהנם׃ (Geenna ) |
And have no fear of those who put to death the body, but are not able to put to death the soul. But have fear of him who has power to give soul and body to destruction in hell. (Geenna )
| ואת כפר נחום המרוממה עד השמים עד שאול תורדי כי הגבורות אשר נעשו בתוכך לו בסדום נעשו כי עתה עמדה על תלה עד היום הזה׃ (Hadēs ) |
And you, Capernaum, were you not to be lifted up to heaven? you will go down into hell: for if the works of power which were done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have been here to this day. (Hadēs )
| וכל אשר ידבר דבר חרפה על בן האדם יסלח לו והמחרף את רוח הקדש לא יסלח לו לא בעולם הזה ולא בעולם הבא׃ (aiōn ) |
And whoever says a word against the Son of man, will have forgiveness; but whoever says a word against the Holy Spirit, will not have forgiveness in this life or in that which is to come. (aiōn )
| והנזרע בין הקצים הוא השמע את הדבר ודאגת העולם הזה ומרמת העשר ימעכו את הדבר ופרי לא יהיה לו׃ (aiōn ) |
And that which was dropped among the thorns, this is he who has the word; and the cares of this life, and the deceits of wealth, put a stop to the growth of the word and it gives no fruit. (aiōn )
| והאיב אשר זרעם הוא השטן והקציר הוא קץ העולם והקצרים הם המלאכים׃ (aiōn ) |
And he who put them in the earth is Satan; and the getting in of the grain is the end of the world; and those who get it in are the angels. (aiōn )
| והנה כאשר ילקטו הזונין ונשרפו באש כן יהיה בקץ העולם הזה׃ (aiōn ) |
As then the evil plants are got together and burned with fire, so will it be in the end of the world. (aiōn )
| כן יהיה בקץ העולם יצאו המלאכים והבדילו את הרשעים מתוך הצדיקים׃ (aiōn ) |
So will it be in the end of the world: the angels will come and take out the bad from the good, (aiōn )
| ואף אני אמר אליך כי אתה פטרוס ועל הסלע הזה אבנה את קהלתי ושערי שאול לא יגברו עליה׃ (Hadēs ) |
And I say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock will my church be based, and the doors of hell will not overcome it. (Hadēs )
| ואם תכשילך ידך או רגלך קצץ אותה והשלך ממך טוב לך לבוא לחיים פסח או קטע מהיות לך שתי ידים או שתי רגלים ותשלך אל אש עולם׃ (aiōnios ) |
And if your hand or your foot is a cause of trouble, let it be cut off and put it away from you: it is better for you to go into life with the loss of a hand or a foot than, having two hands or two feet, to go into the eternal fire. (aiōnios )
| ואם עינך תכשליך נקר אותה והשלך ממך טוב לך לבוא לחיים בעין אחת מהיות לך שתי עינים ותשלך אל אש גיהנם׃ (Geenna ) |
And if your eye is a cause of trouble to you, take it out, and put it away from you: it is better for you to go into life with one eye than, having two eyes, to go into the hell of fire. (Geenna )
| והנה איש נגש אליו ויאמר רבי הטוב אי זה הטוב אשר אעשנו לקנות חיי עולמים׃ (aiōnios ) |
And one came to him and said, Master, what good thing have I to do, so that I may have eternal life? (aiōnios )
| וכל איש אשר עזב את בתיו ואת אחיו ואת אחיותיו ואת אביו ואת אמו ואת אשתו ואת בניו ואת שדותיו למען שמי הוא יקח מאה שערים וחיי עולמים יירש׃ (aiōnios ) |
And everyone who has given up houses, or brothers, or sisters, or father, or mother, or child, or land, for my name, will be given a hundred times as much, and have eternal life. (aiōnios )
| וירא תאנה אחת על הדרך ויקרב אליה ולא מצא בה מאומה מלבד העלים ויאמר אליה מעתה לא יהיה ממך פרי עד עולם ותיבש התאנה פתאם׃ (aiōn ) |
And seeing a fig-tree by the wayside, he came to it, and saw nothing on it but leaves only; and he said to it, Let there be no fruit from you from this time forward for ever. And straight away the fig-tree became dry and dead. (aiōn )
| אוי לכם הסופרים והפרושים החנפים כי סובבים אתם בים וביבשה למען גיר גר אחד וכי יתגיר תעשו אותו לבן גיהנם כפלים יותר מכם׃ (Geenna ) |
A curse is on you, scribes and Pharisees, false ones! for you go about land and sea to get one disciple and, having him, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves. (Geenna )
| נחשים אתם ילדי הצפעונים איכה תמלטו מדין גיהנם׃ (Geenna ) |
You snakes, offspring of snakes, how will you be kept from the punishment of hell? (Geenna )
| וישב על הר הזיתים ויגשו אליו התלמידים לבדם ויאמרו אמר נא לנו מתי תהיה זאת ומה הוא אות בואך ואות קץ העולם׃ (aiōn ) |
And while he was seated on the Mountain of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, Make clear to us, when will these things be? and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the world? (aiōn )
| ואז יאמר גם אל הנצבים לשמאלו לכו מעלי אתם הארורים אל אש עולם המוכנה לשטן ולמלאכיו׃ (aiōnios ) |
Then will he say to those on the left, Go from me, you cursed ones, into the eternal fire which is ready for the Evil One and his angels: (aiōnios )
| וילכו אלה למעצבת עולם והצדיקים לחיי עולם׃ (aiōnios ) |
And these will go away into eternal punishment; but the upright into eternal life. (aiōnios )
| ולמדתם אתם לשמר את כל אשר צויתי אתכם והנה אנכי אתכם כל הימים עד קץ העולם אמן׃ (aiōn ) |
Teaching them to keep all the rules which I have given you: and see, I am ever with you, even to the end of the world. (aiōn )
| אך המגדף את רוח הקדש אין לו סליחה לעולם כי יאשם בעונו לנצח׃ (aiōn , aiōnios ) |
But whoever says evil things against the Holy Spirit will never have forgiveness, but the evil he has done will be with him for ever: (aiōn , aiōnios )
| ודאגות העולם הזה ומרמת העשר ותאות שאר הדברים באות וממעכות את הדבר ופרי לא יהיה לו׃ (aiōn ) |
And the cares of this life, and the deceits of wealth, and the desire for other things coming in, put a stop to the growth of the word, and it gives no fruit. (aiōn )
| ואם ידך תכשילך קצץ אתה טוב לך לבוא קטע לחיים מהיות לך שתי ידים ותלך אל גיהנם אל האש אשר לא תכבה׃ (Geenna ) |
And if your hand is a cause of trouble to you, let it be cut off; it is better for you to go into life with one hand than to have two hands and go into hell, into the eternal fire. (Geenna )
| ואם רגלך תכשילך קצץ אתה טוב לך לבוא פסח לחיים מהיות לך שתי רגלים ותשלך לגיהנם אל האש אשר לא תכבה׃ (Geenna ) |
And if your foot is a cause of trouble to you, let it be cut off: it is better for you to go into life with one foot than to have two feet and go into hell. (Geenna )
| ואם עינך תכשילך עקר אתה טוב לך לבוא אל מלכות האלהים בעין אחת מהיות לך שתי עינים ותשלך לגיהנם׃ (Geenna ) |
And if your eye is a cause of trouble to you, take it out: it is better for you to go into the kingdom of God with one eye than, having two eyes, to go into hell, (Geenna )
| ויהי בצאתו לדרך והנה איש רץ אליו ויכרע לפניו וישאל אותו רבי הטוב מה אעשה ואירש חיי עולם׃ (aiōnios ) |
And while he was going out into the way, a man came running to him, and went down on his knees, saying, Good Master, what have I to do so that I may have eternal life? (aiōnios )
| אשר לא יקח עתה בזמן הזה בכל הרדיפות מאה פעמים כהמה בתים ואחים ואחיות ואמות ובנים ושדות ובעולם הבא חיי עולמים׃ (aiōn , aiōnios ) |
Who will not get a hundred times as much now in this time, houses, and brothers, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and land — though with great troubles; and, in the world to come, eternal life. (aiōn , aiōnios )
| ויען ויאמר אליה מעתה איש אל יאכל פרי ממך עד עולם וישמעו תלמידיו׃ (aiōn ) |
And he said to it, Let no man take fruit from you for ever. And his disciples took note of his words. (aiōn )
| ועל בית יעקב ימלך לעולם ועד ולמלכותו אין קץ׃ (aiōn ) |
He will have rule over the house of Jacob for ever, and of his kingdom there will be no end. (aiōn )
| כאשר דבר אל אבותינו לאברהם ולזרעו עד עולם׃ (aiōn ) |
As he gave his word to our fathers. (aiōn )
| כאשר דבר בפי נביאיו הקדושים אשר מעולם׃ (aiōn ) |
(As he said, by the mouth of his holy prophets, from the earliest times, ) (aiōn )
| ויתחנן לו לבלתי צות אתם לרדת אל התהום׃ (Abyssos ) |
And they made a request to him that he would not give them an order to go away into the deep. (Abyssos )
| ואת כפר נחום אשר עד השמים התרוממת אל שאול תורדי׃ (Hadēs ) |
And you, Capernaum, were you not lifted up to heaven? you will go down to hell. (Hadēs )
| והנה אחד מבעלי התורה קם לנסותו ויאמר מורה מה אעשה ואירש חיי עולם׃ (aiōnios ) |
And a certain teacher of the law got up and put him to the test, saying, Master, what have I to do so that I may have eternal life? (aiōnios )
| אבל אורה אתכם את אשר תיראו יראו את אשר יש לו שלטן אחרי המיתו להשליך אל גיהנם הן אני אמר לכם אותו תיראון׃ (Geenna ) |
But I will make clear to you of whom you are to be in fear: of him who after death has power to send you to hell; yes, truly I say, Have fear of him. (Geenna )
| וישבח האדון את פקיד העולה על אשר הערים לעשות כי בני העולם הזה ערומים הם בדורם מבני האור׃ (aiōn ) |
And his lord was pleased with the false servant, because he had been wise; for the sons of this world are wiser in relation to their generation than the sons of light. (aiōn )
| וגם אני אמר לכם עשו לכם אהבים בממון העולה למען בעת כלתו יאספו אתכם אל משכנות עולם׃ (aiōnios ) |
And I say to you, Make friends for yourselves through the wealth of this life, so that when it comes to an end, you may be taken into the eternal resting-places. (aiōnios )
| ובהיותו במכאבות בשאול וישא את עיניו וירא את אברהם מרחוק ואת לעזר בחיקו׃ (Hadēs ) |
And in hell, being in great pain, lifting up his eyes he saw Abraham, far away, and Lazarus on his breast. (Hadēs )
| וישאלהו קצין אחד לאמר רבי הטוב מה לי לעשות ואירש חיי עולמים׃ (aiōnios ) |
And a certain ruler put a question to him, saying, Good Master, what have I to do so that I may have eternal life? (aiōnios )
| ולא יקח תחתיהם כפלים הרבה בעולם הזה ובעולם הבא חיי עולמים׃ (aiōn , aiōnios ) |
Who will not get much more in this time, and in the world to come, eternal life. (aiōn , aiōnios )
| ויען ישוע ויאמר אליהם בני העולם הזה ישאו נשים ותנשאנה׃ (aiōn ) |
And Jesus said to them, The sons of this world are married and have wives; (aiōn )
| והזכים לנחל את העולם הבא ואת תחית המתים לא ישאו נשים ולא תנשאנה׃ (aiōn ) |
But those to whom is given the reward of the world to come, and to come back from the dead, have no wives, and are not married; (aiōn )
| למען לא יאבד כל המאמין בו כי אם יחיה חיי עולמים׃ (aiōnios ) |
So that whoever has faith may have in him eternal life. (aiōnios )
| כי ככה אהב האלהים את העולם עד אשר נתן את בנו את יחידו למען לא יאבד כל המאמין בו כי אם יחיה חיי עולמים׃ (aiōnios ) |
For God had such love for the world that he gave his only Son, so that whoever has faith in him may not come to destruction but have eternal life. (aiōnios )
| כל המאמין בבן יש לו חיי עולמים ואשר לא יאמין בבן לא יראה חיים כי אם חרון אלהים ישכן עליו׃ (aiōnios ) |
He who has faith in the Son has eternal life; but he who has not faith in the Son will not see life; God's wrath is resting on him. (aiōnios )
| ואשר ישתה מן המים אשר אנכי נתן לו לא יצמא לעולם כי המים אשר אתן לו יהיו בקרבו למקור מים נבעים לחיי העולמים׃ (aiōn , aiōnios ) |
But whoever takes the water I give him will never be in need of drink again; for the water I give him will become in him a fountain of eternal life. (aiōn , aiōnios )
| והקוצר יקח שכרו ויאסף תבואה לחיי עולמים למען ישמחו יחדו גם הזרע גם הקוצר׃ (aiōnios ) |
He who does the cutting now has his reward; he is getting together fruit for eternal life, so that he who did the planting and he who gets in the grain may have joy together. (aiōnios )
| אמן אמן אני אמר לכם השמע דברי ומאמין לשלחי יש לו חיי עולמים ולא יבא במשפט כי עבר ממות לחיים׃ (aiōnios ) |
Truly I say to you, The man whose ears are open to my word and who has faith in him who sent me, has eternal life; he will not be judged, but has come from death into life. (aiōnios )
| דרשו בכתובים אשר תחשבו שיש לכם חיי עולמים בהם והמה המעידים עלי׃ (aiōnios ) |
You make search in the holy Writings, in the belief that through them you get eternal life; and it is those Writings which give witness about me. (aiōnios )
| אל תעמלו במאכל אשר יאבד כי אם במאכל הקים לחיי עולמים אשר בן האדם יתננו לכם כי בו חתם חותמו אביו האלהים׃ (aiōnios ) |
Let your work not be for the food which comes to an end, but for the food which goes on for eternal life, which the Son of man will give to you, for on him has God the Father put his mark. (aiōnios )
| וזה רצון שלחי אשר כל הראה את הבן ומאמין בו יהיו לו חיי עולמים ואני אקימנו ביום האחרון׃ (aiōnios ) |
This, I say, is my Father's pleasure, that everyone who sees the Son and has faith in him may have eternal life: and I will take him up on the last day. (aiōnios )
| אמן אמן אני אמר לכם המאמין בי לו חיי עולמים׃ (aiōnios ) |
Truly I say to you, He who has faith in me has eternal life. (aiōnios )
| אנכי הלחם החי הירד מן השמים איש כי יאכל מן הלחם הזה יחיה לעולם והלחם אשר אתננו הוא בשרי אשר אני נתן בעד חיי העולם׃ (aiōn ) |
I am the living bread which has come from heaven: if any man takes this bread for food he will have life for ever: and more than this, the bread which I will give is my flesh which I will give for the life of the world. (aiōn )
| האכל את בשרי והשתה את דמי יש לו חיי עולמים ואני אקימנו ביום האחרון׃ (aiōnios ) |
He who takes my flesh for food and my blood for drink has eternal life: and I will take him up from the dead at the last day. (aiōnios )
| זה הוא הלחם הירד מן השמים לא כאשר אכלו אבותיכם את המן וימתו האכל את הלחם הזה יחיה לעולם׃ (aiōn ) |
This is the bread which has come down from heaven. It is not like the food which your fathers had: they took of the manna, and are dead; but he who takes this bread for food will have life for ever. (aiōn )
| ויען אתו שמעון פטרוס אדני אל מי נלך דברי חיי עולמים עמך׃ (aiōnios ) |
Then Simon Peter gave this answer: Lord, to whom are we to go? you have the words of eternal life; (aiōnios )
| והעבד לא ישכן בבית לעולם הבן ישכן לעולם׃ (aiōn ) |
Now the servant does not go on living in the house for ever, but the son does. (aiōn )
| אמן אמן אני אמר לכם אם ישמר איש את דברי לא יראה מות לנצח׃ (aiōn ) |
Truly I say to you, If a man keeps my word he will never see death. (aiōn )
| ויאמרו אליו היהודים עתה ידענו כי שד בך הן אברהם והנביאים מתו ואתה אמרת אם ישמר איש את דברי לא יטעם מות לנצח׃ (aiōn ) |
The Jews said to him, Now we are certain that you have an evil spirit. Abraham is dead, and the prophets are dead; and you say, If a man keeps my word he will never see death. (aiōn )
| מעולם לא נשמע כי פקח איש עיני עור מרחם׃ (aiōn ) |
In all the years nobody has ever before seen the eyes of a man blind from birth made open. (aiōn )
| ואני אתן להן חיי עולמים ולא תאבדנה לנצח ואיש לא יחטף אתהן מידי׃ (aiōn , aiōnios ) |
And I give them eternal life; they will never come to destruction, and no one will ever take them out of my hand. (aiōn , aiōnios )
| וכל החי אשר יאמין בי לא ימות לעולם התאמיני זאת׃ (aiōn ) |
And no one who is living and has faith in me will ever see death. Is this your faith? (aiōn )
| האהב את נפשו יאבדנה והשנא את נפשו בעולם הזה ינצרה לחיי נצח׃ (aiōnios ) |
He who is in love with life will have it taken from him; and he who has no care for his life in this world will keep it for ever and ever. (aiōnios )
| ויענו אתו העם ויאמרו הנה שמענו בתורה כי המשיח יכון לעולם ואיך אמרת כי בן האדם צריך להנשא ומי בן האדם הלזה׃ (aiōn ) |
Then the people in answer said to him, The law says that the Christ will have life without end: how say you then that it is necessary for the Son of man to be lifted up? Who is this Son of man? (aiōn )
| ואני ידעתי כי מצותו חיי עולם לכן כל אשר אדבר כאשר אמר אלי אבי כן אני מדבר׃ (aiōnios ) |
And I have knowledge that his order is eternal life: so that the things which I say, I say them even as the Father says them to me. (aiōnios )
| ויאמר אליו פטרוס לעולם לא תרחץ את רגלי ויען ישוע אם לא ארחץ אתך אין לך חלק עמי׃ (aiōn ) |
Peter said, I will never let my feet be washed by you, never. Jesus said in answer, If I do not make you clean you have no part with me. (aiōn )
| ואני אשאלה מאבי והוא יתן לכם פרקליט אחר אשר ישכן אתכם לנצח׃ (aiōn ) |
And I will make prayer to the Father and he will give you another Helper to be with you for ever, (aiōn )
| כאשר נתת לו השלטן על כל בשר למען יתן חיי עולמים לכל אשר נתת לו׃ (aiōnios ) |
Even as you gave him authority over all flesh, to give eternal life to all those whom you have given to him. (aiōnios )
| ואלה הם חיי העולמים לדעת אתך אשר אתה לבדך אל אמת ואת ישוע המשיח אשר שלחת׃ (aiōnios ) |
And this is eternal life: to have knowledge of you, the only true God, and of him whom you have sent, even Jesus Christ. (aiōnios )
| כי לא תעזב נפשי לשאול לא תתן חסידך לראות שחת׃ (Hadēs ) |
For you will not let my soul be in hell and you will not give up your Holy One to destruction. (Hadēs )
| לכן בחזותו מראש דבר על תקומת המשיח כי לא נעזבה נפשו לשאול וגם בשרו לא ראה שחת׃ (Hadēs ) |
He, having knowledge of the future, was talking of the coming again of Christ from the dead, that he was not kept in hell and his body did not see destruction. (Hadēs )
| אשר צריך כי יקבלהו השמים עד ימי שוב כל הדברים לתקונם אשר דבר עליהם האלהים בפי נביאיו הקדושים מימי עולם׃ (aiōn ) |
Who is to be kept in heaven till the time when all things are put right, of which God has given word by the mouth of his holy prophets, who have been from the earliest times. (aiōn )
| אז הגידו פולוס ובר נבא על פניהם לאמר בדין היה להשמיע אתכם בראשונה את דבר האלהים ועתה אחרי אשר מאסתם אותו ואינכם זכים בעיניכם לחיי העולם לכן הננו פנים אל הגוים׃ (aiōnios ) |
Then Paul and Barnabas without fear said, It was necessary for the word of God to be given to you first; but because you will have nothing to do with it, and have no desire for eternal life, it will now be offered to the Gentiles. (aiōnios )
| וישמחו הגוים כשמעם ויהללו את דבר יהוה ויאמינו כל אשר היו מוכנים לחיי עולם׃ (aiōnios ) |
And the Gentiles, hearing this, were glad and gave glory to the word of God: and those marked out by God for eternal life had faith. (aiōnios )
| נודעים לאלהים מעולם כל מעשיו׃ (aiōn ) |
Says the Lord, who has made these things clear from the earliest times. (aiōn )
| כי מהותו הנעלמה היא כחו הנצחי ואלהותו מעת נברא העולם תודע במעשים ותראה לבלתי היות להם להתנצל׃ (aïdios ) |
For from the first making of the world, those things of God which the eye is unable to see, that is, his eternal power and existence, are fully made clear, he having given the knowledge of them through the things which he has made, so that men have no reason for wrongdoing: (aïdios )
| אשר המירו אמת האלהים בכזב ויכבדו ויעבדו את הבריה תחת בראה המברך לעולמים אמן׃ (aiōn ) |
Because by them the true word of God was changed into that which is false, and they gave worship and honour to the thing which is made, and not to him who made it, to whom be blessing for ever. So be it. (aiōn )
| למתמידים בעשות הטוב ומבקשים את הכבוד וההדר ואת אשר איננו עבד יתן את חיי העולמים׃ (aiōnios ) |
To those who go on with good works in the hope of glory and honour and salvation from death, he will give eternal life: (aiōnios )
| למען כאשר מלך החטא במות ככה ימלך גם החסד על ידי הצדקה לחיי עולם בישוע המשיח אדנינו׃ (aiōnios ) |
That, as sin had power in death, so grace might have power through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (aiōnios )
| אכן עתה בהיותכם משחררים מידי החטא ומשעבדים לאלהים יש לכם פריכם לקדשה ואחריתו חיי עולם׃ (aiōnios ) |
But now, being free from sin, and having been made servants to God, you have your fruit in that which is holy, and the end is eternal life. (aiōnios )
| כי שכר החטא הוא המות ומתנת חסד אלהים היא חיי העולם במשיח ישוע אדנינו׃ (aiōnios ) |
For the reward of sin is death; but what God freely gives is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord. (aiōnios )
| ולהם האבות ואשר מהם יצא המשיח לפי בשרו אשר הוא אל על הכל מברך לעולמים אמן׃ (aiōn ) |
Whose are the fathers, and of whom came Christ in the flesh, who is over all, God, to whom be blessing for ever. So be it. (aiōn )
| או מי ירד לתהום זאת היא להעלות את המשיח מן המתים׃ (Abyssos ) |
Or, Who will go down into the deep? (that is, to make Christ come again from the dead: ) (Abyssos )
| כי האלהים הסגיר את כלם ביד המרי למען יחן את כלם׃ (eleēsē ) |
For God has let them all go against his orders, so that he might have mercy on them all. (eleēsē )
| הלא הכל ממנו והכל בו והכל אליו אשר לו הכבוד לעולמים אמן׃ (aiōn ) |
For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things. To him be the glory for ever. So be it. (aiōn )
| ואל תשתוו לעולם הזה כי אם התחלפו בהתחדש דעתכם למען תבחנו לדעת מה הוא רצון האלהים הטוב והחמד והשלם׃ (aiōn ) |
And let not your behaviour be like that of this world, but be changed and made new in mind, so that by experience you may have knowledge of the good and pleasing and complete purpose of God. (aiōn )
| ולאשר יכל לחזק אתכם כבשורתי וכקריאת ישוע המשיח כפי גלוי הסוד אשר היה מכסה מימות עולם׃ (aiōnios ) |
Now to him who is able to make you strong in agreement with the good news which I gave you and the preaching of Jesus Christ, in the light of the revelation of that secret which has been kept through times eternal, (aiōnios )
| ועתה נתפרסם ונודע על ידי כתבי הנביאים כמצות אלהי עולם לכל הגוים להביאם למשמעת האמונה׃ (aiōnios ) |
But is now made clear; and by the writings of the prophets, by the order of the eternal God, the knowledge of it has been given to all the nations, so that they may come under the rule of the faith; (aiōnios )
| לאלהים החכם לבדו לו הכבוד בישוע המשיח לעולמים אמן׃ (aiōn ) |
To the only wise God, through Jesus Christ, be the glory for ever. So be it. (aiōn )
| איה חכם איה ספר איה דרש העולם הזה הלא סכל האלהים את חכמת העולם הזה׃ (aiōn ) |
Where is the wise? where is he who has knowledge of the law? where is the man of this world who has a love of discussion? has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? (aiōn )
| אכן חכמה נדבר בין השלמים לא חכמת העולם הזה גם לא של שרי העולם הזה אשר יאבדו׃ (aiōn ) |
But still we have wisdom for those who are complete in knowledge, though not the wisdom of this world, and not of the rulers of this world, who are coming to nothing: (aiōn )
| כי אם בסוד נדבר חכמת האלהים הנסתרה אשר האלהים יעדה לכבודנו לפני ימי העולם׃ (aiōn ) |
But we give the news of the secret wisdom of God, which he had kept in store before the world came into existence, for our glory; (aiōn )
| אשר לא ידעה איש משרי העולם הזה כי לו ידעוה לא צלבו את אדון הכבוד׃ (aiōn ) |
Of which not one of the rulers of this world had knowledge: for if they had, they would not have put the Lord of glory on the cross: (aiōn )
| אל ירמה איש את עצמו והחשב את עצמו חכם בעולם הזה יהי לסכל למען יחכם׃ (aiōn ) |
Let no man have a false idea. If any man seems to himself to be wise among you, let him become foolish, so that he may be wise. (aiōn )
| על כן אם מאכלי מכשיל את אחי לא אכל בשר לעולם למען לא אכשיל את אחי׃ (aiōn ) |
For this reason, if food is a cause of trouble to my brother, I will give up taking meat for ever, so that I may not be a cause of trouble to my brother. (aiōn )
| כל זאת מצאתם להיות למופת ותכתב למוסר לנו אשר הגיעו אלינו קצי העולמים׃ (aiōn ) |
Now these things were done as an example; and were put down in writing for our teaching, on whom the last days have come. (aiōn )
| איה עקצף המות איה שאול בצחונך׃ (Hadēs ) |
O death, where is your power? O death, where are your pains? (Hadēs )
| אשר אלהי העולם הזה עור בהם את דעות הסוררים לבלתי זרח להם נגה בשורת כבוד המשיח אשר הוא צלם האלהים׃ (aiōn ) |
Because the god of this world has made blind the minds of those who have not faith, so that the light of the good news of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, might not be shining on them. (aiōn )
| כי לחצנו אשר הוא קל ואך לרגע יביא לנו כבוד עולמים גדול ורב עד למאד׃ (aiōnios ) |
For our present trouble, which is only for a short time, is working out for us a much greater weight of glory; (aiōnios )
| אשר לא נביט אל הדברים הנראים כי אם אל אשר אינם נראים כי הנראים לשעה המה ואשר אינם נראים הם לעולם׃ (aiōnios ) |
While our minds are not on the things which are seen, but on the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are for a time; but the things which are not seen are eternal. (aiōnios )
| הן ידענו כי בהרס בית אהלנו אשר בארץ יש לנו בנין מאת האלהים בית אשר איננו מעשה ידים והוא לעולם בשמים׃ (aiōnios ) |
For we are conscious that if this our tent of flesh is taken down, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal, in heaven. (aiōnios )
| ככתוב פזר נתן לאביונים צדקתו עמדת לעד׃ (aiōn ) |
As it is said in the Writings, He has sent out far and wide, he has given to the poor; his righteousness is for ever. (aiōn )
| האלהים אבי ישוע המשיח אדנינו המברך לעולמי עולמים הוא ידע כי לא אשקר׃ (aiōn ) |
The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to whom be praise for ever, is witness that the things which I say are true. (aiōn )
| אשר נתן את נפשו בעד חטאתינו לחלצנו מן העולם הרע הזה כרצון אלהינו אבינו׃ (aiōn ) |
Who gave himself for our sins, so that he might make us free from this present evil world, after the purpose of our God and Father: (aiōn )
| אשר לו הכבוד לעולמי עולמים אמן׃ (aiōn ) |
To whom be the glory for ever and ever. So be it. (aiōn )
| הזרע בבשרו יקצר כליון משברו והזרע ברוח יקצר מן הרוח חיי עולם׃ (aiōnios ) |
Because he who puts in the seed of the flesh will of the flesh get the reward of death; but he who puts in the seed of the Spirit will of the Spirit get the reward of eternal life. (aiōnios )
| ממעל לכל שררה ושלטן וגבורה וממשלה וכל הנקרא בשם לא לבד בעולם הזה כי אם גם בעולם הבא׃ (aiōn ) |
Far over all rule and authority and power and every name which is named, not only in the present order, but in that which is to come: (aiōn )
| אשר התהלכתם בהם לפי דור העולם הזה כרצון שר ממשלת האויר והוא הרוח הפעל כעת בבני המרי׃ (aiōn ) |
In which you were living in the past, after the ways of this present world, doing the pleasure of the lord of the power of the air, the spirit who is now working in those who go against the purpose of God; (aiōn )
| להראות בדרות הבאים את גדלת עשר חסדו בטובתו עלינו במשיח ישוע׃ (aiōn ) |
That in the time to come he might make clear the full wealth of his grace in his mercy to us in Christ Jesus: (aiōn )
| ולהאיר עיני כל מה היא הנהגת הסוד הנסתר מדרת עולם באלהים יוצר הכל על ידי ישוע המשיח׃ (aiōn ) |
And make all men see what is the ordering of the secret which from the first has been kept in God who made all things; (aiōn )
| על פי עצת עולמים אשר יעץ במשיח ישוע אדנינו׃ (aiōn ) |
Which is seen in his eternal purpose in Christ Jesus our Lord: (aiōn )
| לו הכבוד בקרב הקהל במשיח ישוע לדר ודר עד עולמי עולמים אמן׃ (aiōn ) |
To him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations for ever and ever. So be it. (aiōn )
| כי לא עם בשר ודם מלחמתנו כי עם שרים ושליטים עם המשלים בחשכת העולם הזה עם הרוחות הרעות אשר במרומים׃ (aiōn ) |
For our fight is not against flesh and blood, but against authorities and powers, against the world-rulers of this dark night, against the spirits of evil in the heavens. (aiōn )
| ולאלהים אבינו הכבוד לעולמי עולמים אמן׃ (aiōn ) |
Now to God our Father be glory for ever and ever. So be it. (aiōn )
| את הסוד אשר היה נסתר מעולמים ומדור ודור ועתה נגלה לקדושיו׃ (aiōn ) |
The secret which has been kept from all times and generations, but has now been made clear to his saints, (aiōn )
| אשר ישאו משפט אבדן עולם מאת פני האדון ומהדר גאונו׃ (aiōnios ) |
Whose reward will be eternal destruction from the face of the Lord and from the glory of his strength, (aiōnios )
| והוא אדנינו ישוע המשיח ואלהינו אבינו אשר אהב אתנו ויתן לנו בחסדו נחמת עולם ותקוה טובה׃ (aiōnios ) |
Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father who had love for us and has given us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, (aiōnios )
| ובעבור זאת רחמתי למען אשר יראה ישוע המשיח בי בראשונה את כל ארך רוחו להיותי למופת לכל אשר יבאו להאמין בו לחיי עולם׃ (aiōnios ) |
But for this reason I was given mercy, so that in me, the chief of sinners, Jesus Christ might make clear all his mercy, as an example to those who in the future would have faith in him to eternal life. (aiōnios )
| ולמלך עולמים לאלהים הקים לעד והנעלם מעין והחכם לבדו לו הכבוד וההדר לעולמי עולמים אמן׃ (aiōn ) |
Now to the King eternal, ever-living, unseen, the only God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. So be it. (aiōn )
| הלחם המלחמה הטובה של האמונה ואחז חיי עולמים אשר נקראת להם והודית הודאה יפה בפני עדים רבים׃ (aiōnios ) |
Be fighting the good fight of the faith; take for yourself the life eternal, for which you were marked out, and of which you gave witness in the eyes of all. (aiōnios )
| אשר הוא לבדו חי וקים והוא הדר באור נשגב ואיש לא ראהו ולא יוכל לראונו ולו הכבוד וגבורת עולמים אמן׃ (aiōnios ) |
Who only has life for ever, living in light to which no man may come near; whom no man has seen or is able to see: to whom be honour and power for ever. So be it. (aiōnios )
| את עשירי העולם הזה תצוה שלא ירום לבבם גם לא יבטחו בעשר הבוגד כי אם באלהים חיים המספיק לנו די והותר לשבע׃ (aiōn ) |
Give orders to those who have money and goods in this life, not to be lifted up in their minds, or to put their hope in the uncertain chances of wealth, but in God who gives us in full measure all things for our use; (aiōn )
| אשר הוא הושיענו וקראנו בקריאה קדושה לא לפי מעשינו כי אם לפי עצתו וחסדו הנתן לנו במשיח ישוע לפני ימות עולם׃ (aiōnios ) |
Who gave us salvation, marking us out for his purpose, not on account of our works, but in the measure of his purpose and his grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus before times eternal, (aiōnios )
| ועל כן אסבל את כל למען הבחירים למען ישיגו גם המה את התשועה במשיח ישוע עם כבוד עולמים׃ (aiōnios ) |
But I undergo all things for the saints, so that they may have salvation in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. (aiōnios )
| כי דימס עזבני באהבתו את העולם הזה וילך לו לתסלוניקי וקריסקיס הלך לגלטיא וטיטוס לדלמטיא׃ (aiōn ) |
For Demas has gone away from me, for love of this present life, and has gone to Thessalonica: Crescens has gone to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia. (aiōn )
| ויצילני האדון מכל מעשה רע ויושיעני אל מלכותו שבשמים לו הכבוד לעולמי עולמים אמן׃ (aiōn ) |
The Lord will keep me safe from every evil work and will give me salvation in his kingdom in heaven: to whom be glory for ever and ever. So be it. (aiōn )
| עלי תקות חיי העולם אשר הבטיח לפני ימות עולם האל אשר לא ישקר׃ (aiōnios ) |
In the hope of eternal life, which was made certain before eternal time, by the word of God who is ever true; (aiōnios )
| וליסר אתנו אשר נתעב הרשע ותאות העולם ונחיה בעולם הזה בצניעות ובצדק ובחסידות׃ (aiōn ) |
Training us so that, turning away from evil and the desires of this world, we may be living wisely and uprightly in the knowledge of God in this present life; (aiōn )
| למען נצדק בחסדו ונירש לפי התקוה את חיי העולמים׃ (aiōnios ) |
So that, having been given righteousness through grace, we might have a part in the heritage, the hope of eternal life. (aiōnios )
| כי אולי נפרד ממך לשעה בעבור אשר יהיה לך לעולם׃ (aiōnios ) |
For it is possible that for this reason he was parted from you for a time, so that you might have him for ever; (aiōnios )
| אשר נתנו ליורש כל וגם עשה בידו את העולמות׃ (aiōn ) |
But now, at the end of these days, it has come to us through his Son, to whom he has given all things for a heritage, and through whom he made the order of the generations; (aiōn )

But of the Son he says, Your seat of power, O God, is for ever and ever; and the rod of your kingdom is a rod of righteousness. (aiōn )

As he says in another place, You are a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek. (aiōn )
| ואחרי אשר השלם היה ממציא תשועת עולמים לכל שמעיו׃ (aiōnios ) |
And when he had been made complete, he became the giver of eternal salvation to all those who are under his orders; (aiōnios )
| ותורת הטבילות וסמיכת ידים ותחית המתים והדין הנצחי׃ (aiōnios ) |
The teaching of baptisms, and of the putting on of hands, and of the future life of the dead, and of the judging on the last day. (aiōnios )
| וטעמו את דבר אלהים הטוב וכחות העולם הבא וימעלו מעל׃ (aiōn ) |
With knowledge of the good word of God, and of the powers of the coming time, (aiōn )
| אשר בא שמה ישוע העבר לפנינו ויהי כהן גדול לעולם על דברתי מלכי צדק׃ (aiōn ) |
Where Jesus has gone before us, as a high priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek. (aiōn )
| כי העיד עליו אתה כהן לעולם על דברתי מלכי צדק׃ (aiōn ) |
For it has been witnessed of him, You are a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek. (aiōn )
| כי המה נתכהנו בלי שבועה וזה בשבועה על ידי האמר לו נשבע יהוה ולא ינחם אתה כהן לעולם על דברתי מלכי צדק׃ (aiōn ) |
(For those were made priests without an oath, but this one was made a priest with an oath by him who says of him, The Lord gave his oath, which he will not take back, that you are a priest for ever); (aiōn )
| אבל זה בעמדו לעולם יש לו כהנה אשר לא תעבר ממנו׃ (aiōn ) |
But this priest, because his life goes on for ever, is unchanging. (aiōn )
| כי התורה העמידה לכהנים גדולים בני אדם חלשים אבל דבר השבועה הבאה אחרי התורה העמיד את הבן המשלם לעולם׃ (aiōn ) |
The law makes high priests of men who are feeble; but the word of the oath, which was made after the law, gives that position to a Son, in whom all good is for ever complete. (aiōn )
| גם לא בא בדם שעירים ועגלים אלא בדם נפשו בא בפעם אחת אל הקדש פנימה וימצא גאלת עולם׃ (aiōnios ) |
And has gone once and for ever into the holy place, having got eternal salvation, not through the blood of goats and young oxen, but through his blood. (aiōnios )
| אף כי דם המשיח אשר הקריב את עצמו לאלהים ברוח נצחי ובלי מום יטהר לבבכם ממעשי מות לעבד את אלהים חיים׃ (aiōnios ) |
How much more will the blood of Christ, who, being without sin, made an offering of himself to God through the Holy Spirit, make your hearts clean from dead works to be servants of the living God? (aiōnios )
| ובעבור זאת הוא גם סרסר לברית חדשה למען אשר יירשו המקראים את הבטחת נחלת עולם אחרי אשר מת לפדות מן הפשעים אשר נעשו תחת הברית הראשונה׃ (aiōnios ) |
And for this cause it is through him that a new agreement has come into being, so that after the errors under the first agreement had been taken away by his death, the word of God might have effect for those who were marked out for an eternal heritage. (aiōnios )
| כי אם כן הוא הלא היה לו לענות פעמים רבות מראשית העולם ועתה בקץ העתים נגלה בפעם אחת כדי לבטל את החטא בזבח נפשו׃ (aiōn ) |
For then he would have undergone a number of deaths from the time of the making of the world: but now he has come to us at the end of the old order, to put away sin by the offering of himself. (aiōn )
| באמונה נבין כי העולמות נעשו בדבר האלהים למען אשר יצא הנראה מן הנעלם׃ (aiōn ) |
By faith it is clear to us that the order of events was fixed by the word of God, so that what is seen has not been made from things which only seem to be. (aiōn )
| ישוע המשיח גם תמול גם היום הוא הוא וגם לעולמים׃ (aiōn ) |
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and for ever. (aiōn )
| ואלהי השלום אשר בדם ברית עולם העלה מן המתים את רעה הצאן הגדול את ישוע אדנינו׃ (aiōnios ) |
Now may the God of peace, who made that great keeper of his flock, even our Lord Jesus, come back from the dead through the blood of the eternal agreement, (aiōnios )
| הוא ישלימכם בכל מעשה טוב לעשות רצונו בפעלו בכם את הרצוי לפניו ביד ישוע המשיח אשר לו הכבוד לעולמי עולמים אמן׃ (aiōn ) |
Make you full of every good work and ready to do all his desires, working in us whatever is pleasing in his eyes through Jesus Christ; and may the glory be given to him for ever and ever. So be it. (aiōn )
| כן הלשון נצבת בין אברינו המגאלת את כל הגוף ומלהטת את גלגל הויתנו והיא להוטה באש גיהנם׃ (Geenna ) |
And the tongue is a fire; it is the power of evil placed in our bodies, making all the body unclean, putting the wheel of life on fire, and getting its fire from hell. (Geenna )
| כנולדים מחדש לא מזרע נשחת כי אם מזרע לא ישחת במאמר אלהים החי והקים לעולם׃ (aiōn ) |
Because you have had a new birth, not from the seed of man, but from eternal seed, through the word of a living and unchanging God. (aiōn )
| ודבר יהוה יקום לעולם וזה הוא הדבר אשר בשר לכם׃ (aiōn ) |
But the word of the Lord is eternal. And this is the word of the good news which was given to you. (aiōn )
| איש כי ידבר יהי כאמרי אל ואיש כי יעזר תהי עזרתו מתוך החיל אשר חננו אלהים למען יכבד אלהים בכל על ידי ישוע המשיח אשר לו הכבוד והעז לעולמי עולמים אמן׃ (aiōn ) |
If anyone has anything to say, let it be as the words of God; if anyone has the desire to be the servant of others, let him do it in the strength which is given by God; so that in all things God may have the glory through Jesus Christ, whose are the glory and the power for ever. (aiōn )
| ואלהי כל החסד אשר קראנו לכבודו הנצחי במשיח ישוע אחרי ענותכם מעט הוא ישלים ויחזק ויגבר וייסד אתכם׃ (aiōnios ) |
And after you have undergone pain for a little time, the God of all grace who has given you a part in his eternal glory through Christ Jesus, will himself give you strength and support, and make you complete in every good thing; (aiōnios )
| לו הכבוד והעז לעולמי עולמים אמן׃ (aiōn ) |
His is the power for ever. So be it. (aiōn )
| כי כן יפתח לפניכם לרוחה המבוא אל מלכות עולם אשר לאדנינו ומושיענו ישוע המשיח׃ (aiōnios ) |
For so the way will be open to you into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. (aiōnios )
| כי לא חס אלהים על המלאכים אשר חטאו כי אם הורידם לקצבי הרים ויסגירם בכבלי אפל לשמרם למשפט׃ (Tartaroō ) |
For if God did not have pity for the angels who did evil, but sent them down into hell, to be kept in chains of eternal night till they were judged; (Tartaroō )
| ורבו בחסד ובדעת אדנינו ומושיענו ישוע המשיח אשר לו הכבוד גם היום וגם ליום העולם אמן׃ (aiōn ) |
But be increased in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. May he have glory now and for ever. So be it. (aiōn )
| והחיים נגלו ונרא ומעידים אנחנו ומודיעים לכם את חיי העולם אשר היו עם האב ונגלו לנו׃ (aiōnios ) |
(And the life was made clear to us, and we have seen it and are witnessing to it and giving you word of that eternal life which was with the Father and was seen by us); (aiōnios )
| והחלד עבור יעבר עם תאותיו והעשה רצון אלהים יעמד לעד׃ (aiōn ) |
And the world and its desires is coming to an end: but he who does God's pleasure is living for ever. (aiōn )
| וההבטחה אשר הבטיחנו היא חיי עולמים׃ (aiōnios ) |
And this is the hope which he gave you, even eternal life. (aiōnios )
| כל השנא את אחיו רצח נפש הוא וידעתם כי כל רצח נפש לא יתקימו בו חיי עולמים׃ (aiōnios ) |
Anyone who has hate for his brother is a taker of life, and you may be certain that no taker of life has eternal life in him. (aiōnios )
| וזאת היא העדות כי חיי עולמים נתן לנו האלהים והחיים האלה בבנו המה׃ (aiōnios ) |
And his witness is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. (aiōnios )
| זאת כתבתי אליכם המאמינים בשם בן האלהים למען תדעון שיש לכם חיי עולם ולמען תאמינו בשם בן האלהים׃ (aiōnios ) |
I have put these things in writing for you who have faith in the name of the Son of God, so that you may be certain that you have eternal life. (aiōnios )
| וידענו כי בא בן אלהים ויתן לנו בינה לדעת את האמתי ובאמתי אנחנו בבנו ישוע המשיח זה הוא האל האמתי וחיי העולם׃ (aiōnios ) |
And we are certain that the Son of God has come, and has given us a clear vision, so that we may see him who is true, and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life. (aiōnios )
| למען האמת העמדת בקרבנו וגם תהיה עמנו לעולם׃ (aiōn ) |
Because of this true knowledge which is in us, and will be with us for ever: (aiōn )
| והמלאכים אשר לא שמרו את משרתם כי אם עזבו את זבלם שמרם במוסרות עולם ובאפלה למשפט היום הגדול׃ (aïdios ) |
And the angels who did not keep to their kingdom but went out from the place which was theirs, he has put in eternal chains and in dark night till the great day of the judging. (aïdios )
| כאשר סדום ועמרה והערים סביבותיהן אשר הזנו כמוהם וילכו אחרי בשר זר נהיו כראי כי נמסרו למוסר אש עולם׃ (aiōnios ) |
Even as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the towns near them, having like these, given themselves up to unclean desires and gone after strange flesh, have been made an example, undergoing the punishment of eternal fire. (aiōnios )
| משברי ים עזים אשר יגרשו בשתם ככבים תעים אשר חשך אפלה צפון להם עדי עד׃ (aiōn ) |
Violent waves of the sea, streaming with their shame, wandering stars for whom the darkest night is kept in store for ever. (aiōn )
| ושמרתם את נפשתיכם באהבת אלהים וחכיתם לרחמי אדנינו ישוע המשיח לחיי העולם׃ (aiōnios ) |
Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for life eternal through the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ. (aiōnios )
| לאלהים אשר לו לבדו החכמה המושיע אתנו לו הכבוד והגדלה והעז והממשלה מעתה ולעולמי עד אמן׃ (aiōn ) |
To the only God our Saviour, through Jesus Christ our Lord, let us give glory and honour and authority and power, before all time and now and for ever. So be it. (aiōn )
| ויעש אתנו למלכים וכהנים לאלהים אביו הכבוד והעז לעולמי עולמים אמן׃ (aiōn ) |
And has made us to be a kingdom and priests to his God and Father; to him let glory and power be given for ever and ever. So be it. (aiōn )
| ואהי מת והנני חי לעולמי עולמים אמן ובידי מפתחות שאול ומות׃ (aiōn , Hadēs ) |
And I was dead, and see, I am living for ever, and I have the keys of death and of Hell. (aiōn , Hadēs )
| ומדי תת החיות כבוד והדר ותודה לישב על הכסא אשר הוא חי לעולמי עולמים׃ (aiōn ) |
And when the beasts give glory and honour to him who is seated on the high seat, to him who is living for ever and ever, (aiōn )
| אז יפלו עשרים וארבעה הזקנים על פניהם לפני הישב על הכסא והשתחוו לחי עולמי העולמים ושמו את עטרותיהם לפני הכסא לאמר׃ (aiōn ) |
The four and twenty rulers go down on their faces before him who is seated on the high seat, and give worship to him who is living for ever and ever, and take off their crowns before the high seat, saying, (aiōn )
| וכל בריה אשר בשמים ובארץ ומתחת לארץ ואשר על הים וכל אשר בהם את כלם שמעתי אמרים לאמר לישב על הכסא ולשה הברכה וההדר והכבוד והעז לעולמי עולמים׃ (aiōn ) |
And to my ears came the voice of everything in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and of all things which are in them, saying, To him who is seated on the high seat, and to the Lamb, may blessing and honour and glory and power be given for ever and ever. (aiōn )
| וארא והנה סוס ירקרק והרכב עליו שמו המות ושאול יוצאת לרגליו וינתן להם שלטן על רביעית הארץ להמית בחרב וברעב ובדבר ובחית הארץ׃ (Hadēs ) |
And I saw a grey horse, and the name of him who was seated on it was Death; and Hell came after him. And there was given to them authority over the fourth part of the earth, to put to destruction by the sword, and by taking away their food, and by death, and by the beasts of the earth. (Hadēs )
| ויאמרו אמן הברכה והכבוד והחכמה והתודה וההדר והכח והעז לאלהינו לעולמי עולמים אמן׃ (aiōn ) |
So be it. Let blessing and glory and wisdom and praise and honour and power and strength be given to our God for ever and ever. So be it. (aiōn )
| והמלאך החמישי תקע בשופר וארא כוכב נפל מן השמים לארץ וינתן לו מפתח באר התהום׃ (Abyssos ) |
And at the sounding of the fifth angel I saw a star falling from heaven to the earth: and there was given to him the key of the great deep. (Abyssos )
| ויפתח את באר התהום ויעל עשן מן הבאר כעשן כבשן גדול ויחשך השמש והרקיע מקיטר הבאר׃ (Abyssos ) |
And he made the great deep open and a smoke went up from it, like the smoke of a great oven; and the sun and the air were made dark because of the smoke. (Abyssos )
| ומלאך התהום הוא מלך עליהם ושמו אבדון בעברית והוא אפוליון בלשון יון׃ (Abyssos ) |
They have over them as king the angel of the great deep: his name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in the Greek language Apollyon. (Abyssos )
| וישבע בחי עולמי העולמים אשר ברא את השמים וכל אשר בהם והארץ וכל אשר בה והים וכל אשר בו כי לא יהיה עוד זמן׃ (aiōn ) |
And took his oath by him who is living for ever and ever, who made the heaven and the things in it, and the earth and the things in it, and the sea and the things in it, that there would be no more waiting: (aiōn )
| ואחרי השלימם עדותם החיה העלה מן התהום תעשה עמהם מלחמה ותוכל להם והרגתם׃ (Abyssos ) |
And when they have come to the end of their witness, the beast which comes up out of the great deep will make war on them and overcome them and put them to death. (Abyssos )
| והמלאך השביעי תקע בשופר ויהי קלות גדולים בשמים ויאמרו הנה ממלכת העולם היתה לאדיניו ולמשיחו והוא ימלך לעולמי עולמים׃ (aiōn ) |
And at the sounding of the seventh angel there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord, and of his Christ, and he will have rule for ever and ever. (aiōn )
| וארא מלאך אחר מעופף במרום הרקיע אשר היה לו בשורת עולם לבשר את ישבי הארץ ואת כל גוי ונשפחה ולשון ועם׃ (aiōnios ) |
And I saw another angel in flight between heaven and earth, having eternal good news to give to those who are on the earth, and to every nation and tribe and language and people, (aiōnios )
| ועשן ענוים יעלה לעולמי עד ולא ימצאו מנוחה יומם ולילה המשתחוים לחיה ולצלמה ואשר ישא את תו שמה׃ (aiōn ) |
And the smoke of their pain goes up for ever and ever; and they have no rest day and night, who give worship to the beast and his image, and have on them the mark of his name. (aiōn )
| ואחת מארבע החיות נתנה אל שבעת המלאכים שבע קערת זהב מלאות חמת האלהים החי לעולמי העולמים׃ (aiōn ) |
And one of the four beasts gave to the seven angels seven gold vessels full of the wrath of God, who is living for ever and ever. (aiōn )
| החיה אשר ראיתה היתה ואיננה ועתידה לעלות מן התהום וללכת לאבדון וישבי הארץ אשר שמם איננו נכתב בספר החיים מיום הוסד תבל ישתוממו בראתם את החיה אשר היתה ואיננה ותבוא׃ (Abyssos ) |
The beast which you saw was, and is not; and is about to come up out of the great deep, and to go into destruction. And those who are on the earth, whose names have not been put in the book of life from the first, will be full of wonder when they see the beast, that he was, and is not, and still will be. (Abyssos )
| וישנו ויאמרו הללויה ועשנה יעלה לעולמי עולמים׃ (aiōn ) |
And again they said, Praise to the Lord. And her smoke went up for ever and ever. (aiōn )
| ותתפש החיה ונביא השקר אתה אשר עשה האותות לפניה אשר הדיח בהן את נשאי תו החיה והמשתחוים לצלמה וחיים השלכו שניהם באגם האש הבער בגפרית׃ (Limnē Pyr ) |
And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet who did the signs before him, by which they were turned from the true way who had the mark of the beast, and who gave worship to his image: these two were put living into the sea of ever-burning fire. (Limnē Pyr )
| וארא מלאך יורד מן השמים ובידו מפתח התהום וכבל גדול׃ (Abyssos ) |
And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key of the great deep and a great chain in his hand. (Abyssos )
| וישליכהו בתהום ויסגר בעדו ויחתם עליו למען לא ידיח עוד את הגוים עד כלות אלף השנים ואחרי כן יתר לזמן מצער׃ (Abyssos ) |
And put him into the great deep, and it was shut and locked over him, so that he might put the nations in error no longer, till the thousand years were ended: after this he will be let loose for a little time. (Abyssos )
| והשטן אשר הדיחם השלך באגם אש וגפרית אשר שם גם החיה ונביא השקר ויסרו יומם ולילה לעולמי עולמים׃ (aiōn , Limnē Pyr ) |
And the Evil One who put them in error was sent down into the sea of ever-burning fire, where the beast and the false prophet are, and their punishment will go on day and night for ever and ever. (aiōn , Limnē Pyr )
| ויתן הים את מתיו והמות והשאול נתנו את מתיהם וישפטו איש איש כמעשיהם׃ (Hadēs ) |
And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and Hell gave up the dead which were in them; and they were judged every man by his works. (Hadēs )

And death and Hell were put into the sea of fire. This is the second death, even the sea of fire. (Hadēs , Limnē Pyr )

And if anyone's name was not in the book of life, he went down into the sea of fire. (Limnē Pyr )
| אבל רכי הלב ואשר אינם מאמינים והמגאלים והמרצחים והזנים והמכשפים ועבדי האלילים וכל המכזבים חלקם יהיה באגם הבער באש וגפרית אשר הוא המות השני׃ (Limnē Pyr ) |
But those who are full of fear and without faith, the unclean and takers of life, those who do the sins of the flesh, and those who make use of evil powers or who give worship to images, and all those who are false, will have their part in the sea of ever-burning fire which is the second death. (Limnē Pyr )
| ולילה לא יהיה עוד ולא יצטרכו עוד לאור נר ולאור שמש כי יהוה אלהים הוא יאיר להם וימלכו עד עולמי עולמים׃ (aiōn ) |
And there will be no more night; and they have no need of a light or of the shining of the sun; for the Lord God will give them light: and they will be ruling for ever and ever. (aiōn )
| בארות בלי מים המה עבים נדפים בסערה אשר שמור להם חשך אפלה לעולם׃ () |
