לוּקָס 22
| ויקרב חג המצות הנקרא פסח׃ | 1 |
Now the feast of unleavened bread, which is called the Passover, was approaching.
| והכהנים הגדולים והסופרים מבקשים איך יהרגהו כי יראו מפני העם׃ | 2 |
The chief priests and the scribes sought how they might put him to death, for they feared the people.
| והשטן נכנס ביהודה המכנה איש קריות והוא במספר שנים העשר׃ | 3 |
Satan entered into Judah, who was also called Iscariot, who was counted with the twelve.
| וילך וידבר עם ראשי הכהנים ושרי החיל איך ימסרנו אל ידם׃ | 4 |
He went away and talked with the chief priests and captains about how he might deliver him to them.
| וישמחו ויאתו לתת לו כסף׃ | 5 |
They were glad, and agreed to give him money.
| ויבטח אתם ויבקש תואנה למסרו אליהם שלא לעיני ההמון׃ | 6 |
He consented and sought an opportunity to deliver him to them in the absence of the multitude.
| ויבא יום המצות אשר זבוח יזבח בו הפסח׃ | 7 |
The day of unleavened bread came, on which the Passover must be sacrificed.
| וישלח את פטרוס ואת יוחנן לאמר לכו והכינו לנו את הפסח ונאכלה׃ | 8 |
Yeshua sent Peter and Yochanan, saying, “Go and prepare the Passover for us, that we may eat.”
| ויאמרו אליו באי זה מקום תחפץ כי נכין אותו׃ | 9 |
They said to him, “Where do you want us to prepare?”
| ויאמר אליהם הנה אתם באים העירה ופגע אתכם איש נשא צפחת מים לכו אחריו אל הבית אשר יבוא שמה׃ | 10 |
He said to them, “Behold, when you have entered into the city, a man carrying a pitcher of water will meet you. Follow him into the house which he enters.
| ואמרתם אל בעל הבית כה אמר לך הרב איה המלון אשר אכלה שם את הפסח עם תלמידי׃ | 11 |
Tell the master of the house, ‘The Rabbi says to you, “Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?”’
| והוא יראה אתכם עליה גדולה מצעה שם תכינו׃ | 12 |
He will show you a large, furnished upper room. Make preparations there.”
| וילכו וימצאו כאשר דבר אליהם ויכינו את הפסח׃ | 13 |
They went, found things as Yeshua had told them, and they prepared the Passover.
| ויהי כאשר הגיעה השעה ויסב הוא ושנים עשר השליחים אתו׃ | 14 |
When the hour had come, he sat down with the twelve emissaries.
| ויאמר אליהם נכסף נכספתי לאכל אתכם את הפסח הזה לפני ענותי׃ | 15 |
He said to them, “I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer,
| כי אמר אני לכם אינני אכל אותו עוד עד כי ימלא במלכות האלהים׃ | 16 |
for I tell you, I will no longer by any means eat of it until it is fulfilled in God’s Kingdom.”
| ויקח את הכוס ויברך ויאמר קחו אתה וחלקו ביניכם׃ | 17 |
He received a cup, and when he had given thanks, he said, “Take this and share it amongst yourselves,
| כי אמר אני לכם שתה לא אשתה מעתה מתנובת הגפן עד כי תבוא מלכות האלהים׃ | 18 |
for I tell you, I will not drink at all again from the fruit of the vine, until God’s Kingdom comes.”
| ויקח את הלחם ויברך ויבצע ויתן להם לאמר זה גופי הנתן בעדכם זאת עשו לזכרוני׃ | 19 |
He took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body which is given for you. Do this in memory of me.”
| וכן גם את הכוס אחר הסעודה לאמר זו הכוס היא הברית החדשה בדמי הנשפך בעדכם׃ | 20 |
Likewise, he took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.
| אך הנה יד המסר אותי אתי על השלחן׃ | 21 |
But behold, the hand of him who betrays me is with me on the table.
| כי הן בן האדם הלך לו כפי אשר נחרץ עליו אבל אוי לאיש ההוא אשר על ידו ימסר׃ | 22 |
The Son of Man indeed goes as it has been determined, but woe to that man through whom he is betrayed!”
| והם החלו לחקר איש את רעהו מי הוא זה מהם אשר יעשה זאת׃ | 23 |
They began to question amongst themselves which of them it was who would do this thing.
| וגם מריבה היתה ביניהם מי יחשב להיות הגדול בהם׃ | 24 |
A dispute also arose amongst them, which of them was considered to be greatest.
| ויאמר אליהם מלכי הגוים רדים בהם ושליטיהם יקראו עשי חסד׃ | 25 |
He said to them, “The kings of the nations lord it over them, and those who have authority over them are called ‘benefactors.’
| ואתם לא כן כי הגדול בכם יהיה כצעיר והמשל יהיה כמשרת׃ | 26 |
But not so with you. Rather, the one who is greater amongst you, let him become as the younger, and one who is governing, as one who serves.
| כי מי הוא הגדול אם המסב או המשרת הלא המסב ואני הנני בתוככם כמו המשרת׃ | 27 |
For who is greater, one who sits at the table, or one who serves? Isn’t it he who sits at the table? But I am amongst you as one who serves.
| ואתם הם העמדים עמדי עד עתה בנסיונתי׃ | 28 |
“But you are those who have continued with me in my trials.
| לכן אני מנחיל אתכם כאשר הנחילני אבי את המלכות׃ | 29 |
I confer on you a kingdom, even as my Father conferred on me,
| למען תאכלו ותשתו על שלחני במלכותי וישבתם על כסאות לשפט את שנים עשר שבטי ישראל׃ | 30 |
that you may eat and drink at my table in my Kingdom. You will sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.”
| ויאמר האדון שמעון שמעון הנה תבע אתכם השטן לזרותכם כחטים׃ | 31 |
The Lord said, “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan asked to have all of you, that he might sift you as wheat,
| ואני התפללתי בעדך אשר לא תכלה אמונתך ואתה כאשר תשוב חזק את אחיך׃ | 32 |
but I prayed for you, that your faith wouldn’t fail. You, when once you have turned again, establish your brothers.”
| והוא אמר אליו אדני הנני נכון ללכת אתך גם לבית האסורים גם למות׃ | 33 |
He said to him, “Lord, I am ready to go with you both to prison and to death!”
| ויאמר אני אמר לך פטרוס לא יקרא תרנגל היום עד כי שלש פעמים כחשת בי לאמר לא ידעתיו׃ | 34 |
He said, “I tell you, Peter, the rooster will by no means crow today until you deny that you know me three times.”
| ויאמר אליהם כאשר שלחתי אתכם בלי כיס ותרמיל ונעלים החסרתם דבר ויאמרו לא חסרנו כל דבר׃ | 35 |
He said to them, “When I sent you out without purse, bag, and sandals, did you lack anything?” They said, “Nothing.”
| ויאמר אליהם אכן עתה אשר לו כיס ישאהו וכן גם את התרמיל ואשר אין לו הוא ימכר את בגדו ויקנה חרב׃ | 36 |
Then he said to them, “But now, whoever has a purse, let him take it, and likewise a bag. Whoever has none, let him sell his cloak, and buy a sword.
| כי אמר אני לכם אשר צריך עוד להתמלא בי הכתוב הזה ואת פשעים נמנה כי כל הכתוב עלי בא עד קצו׃ | 37 |
For I tell you that this which is written must still be fulfilled in me: ‘He was counted with transgressors.’ For that which concerns me is being fulfilled.”
| ויאמרו אדנינו הנה פה שתי חרבות ויאמר אליהם די׃ | 38 |
They said, “Lord, behold, here are two swords.” He said to them, “That is enough.”
| ויצא וילך כיום ביום על הר הזיתים וילכו אחריו גם תלמידיו׃ | 39 |
He came out and went, as his custom was, to the Mount of Olives. His disciples also followed him.
| ויבא אל המקום ויאמר אליהם התפללו לבלתי בוא לידי נסיון׃ | 40 |
When he was at the place, he said to them, “Pray that you don’t enter into temptation.”
| והוא נפרד מהם הרחק כקלע אבן ויכרע על ברכיו ויתפלל לאמר׃ | 41 |
He was withdrawn from them about a stone’s throw, and he knelt down and prayed,
| אבי אם רצונך להעביר מעלי את הכוס הזאת אך אל יהי כרצוני כי אם כרצונך׃ | 42 |
saying, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.”
| וירא אליו מלאך מן השמים ויחזקהו׃ | 43 |
An angel from heaven appeared to him, strengthening him.
| ויבאו עליו חבלי מות ויוסף להתפלל בחזקה ותהי זעתו כנטפי דם ירדים לארץ׃ | 44 |
Being in agony, he prayed more earnestly. His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down on the ground.
| ויקם מהתפלל ויבא אל התלמידים וימצאם ישנים מיגון׃ | 45 |
When he rose up from his prayer, he came to the disciples and found them sleeping because of grief,
| ויאמר אליהם למה תישנו קומו והתפללו אשר לא תבאו לידי נסיונ, עודנו מדבר והנה המון ואחד משנים העשר הנקרא יהודה הלך לפניהם ויקרב אל ישוע לנשק לו׃ | 46 |
and said to them, “Why do you sleep? Rise and pray that you may not enter into temptation.”
| 47 |
While he was still speaking, a crowd appeared. He who was called Judah, one of the twelve, was leading them. He came near to Yeshua to kiss him.
| ויאמר ישוע אליו יהודה הבנשיקה אתה מוסר את בן האדם׃ | 48 |
But Yeshua said to him, “Judah, do you betray the Son of Man with a kiss?”
| והאנשים אשר אתו ראים את אשר יהיה ויאמרו אליו אדנינו הנכה בחרב׃ | 49 |
When those who were around him saw what was about to happen, they said to him, “Lord, shall we strike with the sword?”
| ויך אחד מהם את עבד הכהן הגדול ויקצץ את אזנו הימנית׃ | 50 |
A certain one of them struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear.
| ויען ישוע ויאמר רב עתה הרפו ויגע באזנו וירפאהו׃ | 51 |
But Yeshua answered, “Let me at least do this”—and he touched his ear and healed him.
| ויאמר ישוע אל ראשי הכהנים ושרי המקדש והזקנים אשר באו עליו לאמר כמו על פריץ יצאתם עלי בחרבות ובמקלות׃ | 52 |
Yeshua said to the chief priests, captains of the temple, and elders, who had come against him, “Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs?
| ואהי אצלכם יום יום בהיכל ולא שלחתם בי יד ואולם זאת היא שעתכם ושלטן החשך׃ | 53 |
When I was with you in the temple daily, you didn’t stretch out your hands against me. But this is your hour, and the power of darkness.”
| ויתפשו אותו ויוליכהו ויביאהו בית הכהן הגדול ופטרוס הלך אחריו מרחוק׃ | 54 |
They seized him and led him away, and brought him into the high priest’s house. But Peter followed from a distance.
| ויהי כי בערו אש בתוך החצר וישבו יחדו וישב גם פטרוס בתוכם׃ | 55 |
When they had kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard and had sat down together, Peter sat amongst them.
| ותראהו השפחה יושב נגד האור ותבט בו ותאמר גם זה היה עמו׃ | 56 |
A certain servant girl saw him as he sat in the light, and looking intently at him, said, “This man also was with him.”
| ויכחש בו ויאמר אשה לא ידעתיו׃ | 57 |
He denied Yeshua, saying, “Woman, I don’t know him.”
| ואחרי מעט ראהו אדם אחר ויאמר גם אתה מהם ויאמר פטרוס לא אדם כי אינני׃ | 58 |
After a little while someone else saw him and said, “You also are one of them!” But Peter answered, “Man, I am not!”
| ואחרי עבר כשעה אחת קים איש אחר לאמר אמנם גם זה היה עמו כי אף הוא גלילי׃ | 59 |
After about one hour passed, another confidently affirmed, saying, “Truly this man also was with him, for he is a Galilean!”
| ויאמר פטרוס בן אדם לא ידעתי מה אתה אמר והוא עודנו מדבר והתרנגול קרא׃ | 60 |
But Peter said, “Man, I don’t know what you are talking about!” Immediately, while he was still speaking, a rooster crowed.
| ויפן האדון ויבט אל פטרוס ויזכר פטרוס את דבר האדון אשר דבר אליו כי בטרם יקרא התרנגל תכחש בי שלש פעמים׃ | 61 |
The Lord turned and looked at Peter. Then Peter remembered the Lord’s word, how he said to him, “Before the rooster crows you will deny me three times.”
| ויצא פטרוס החוצה וימרר בבכי׃ | 62 |
He went out, and wept bitterly.
| והאנשים אשר אחזו את ישוע התעללו בו ויכהו׃ | 63 |
The men who held Yeshua mocked him and beat him.
| ויחפו את ראשו ויכהו על פניו וישאלהו לאמר הנבא מי הוא ההלם אותך׃ | 64 |
Having blindfolded him, they struck him on the face and asked him, “Prophesy! Who is the one who struck you?”
| ועוד גדופים אחרים הרבו עליו׃ | 65 |
They spoke many other things against him, insulting him.
| ובהית הבקר נקהלו זקני העם והכהנים הגדולים והסופרים ויעלהו לפני הסנהדרין שלהם ויאמרו האתה הוא המשיח אמר לנו׃ | 66 |
As soon as it was day, the assembly of the elders of the people were gathered together, both chief priests and scribes, and they led him away into their council, saying,
| ויאמר אליהם כי אגיד לכם לא תאמינו׃ | 67 |
“If you are the Messiah, tell us.” But he said to them, “If I tell you, you won’t believe,
| וגם אם אשאל לא תשיבו דבר ולא תשלחוני׃ | 68 |
and if I ask, you will in no way answer me or let me go.
| אבל מעתה יהיה בן האדם ישב לימין גבורת האלהים׃ | 69 |
From now on, the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the power of God.”
| ויאמרו כלם הכי אתה הוא בן האלהים ויאמר אליהם אתם אמרתם כי אני הוא׃ | 70 |
They all said, “Are you then the Son of God?” He said to them, “You say it, because I am.”
| ויאמרו מה לנו עוד לבקש עדות הלא באזנינו שמענוה מפיו׃ | 71 |
They said, “Why do we need any more witness? For we ourselves have heard from his own mouth!”
