1 A waɗancan kwanaki, Kaisar Augustus ya ba da doka cewa ya kamata a yi ƙidaya a dukan masarautar Roma.
About that time an edict was issued by the Emperor Augustus that a census should be taken of the whole Empire.
2 (Wannan ce ƙidaya ta fari da aka yi a lokacin da Kwiriniyus yake gwamnar Suriya.)
(This was the first census taken while Quirinius was Governor of Syria).
3 Sai kowa ya koma garinsa don a rubuta shi.
And everyone went to his own town to be registered.
4 Saboda haka Yusuf ma ya haura daga Nazaret a Galili zuwa Yahudiya, ya tafi Betlehem garin Dawuda, don shi daga gida da kuma zuriyar Dawuda ne.
Among others Joseph went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Bethlehem, the town of David, in Judea – because he belonged to the family and house of David –
5 Ya tafi can don a rubuta shi tare da Maryamu, wadda aka yi masa alkawari zai aura, tana kuwa da ciki.
to be registered with Mary, his engaged wife, who was about to become a mother.
6 Yayinda suke can, sai lokacin haihuwar jaririn ya yi,
While they were there her time came,
7 ta kuwa haifi ɗanta na fari. Ta nannaɗe shi a zane ta kuma kwantar da shi cikin wani kwami, don ba su sami ɗaki a masauƙi ba.
and she gave birth to her first child, a son. And because there was no room for them in the inn, she swathed him around and laid him in a manger.
8 Akwai makiyaya masu zama a fili kusa da wurin, suna tsaron garkunan tumakinsu da dare.
In that same countryside were shepherds out in the open fields, watching their flocks that night,
9 Sai wani mala’ikan Ubangiji ya bayyana gare su, ɗaukakar Ubangiji kuma ta haskaka kewaye da su, suka kuwa tsorata ƙwarai.
when an angel of the Lord suddenly stood by them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were seized with fear.
10 Amma mala’ikan ya ce musu, “Kada ku ji tsoro. Na kawo muku labari mai daɗi na farin ciki mai yawa ne wanda zai zama domin dukan mutane.
“Have no fear,” the angel said. “For I bring you good news of a great joy in store for all the nation.
11 Yau a birnin Dawuda an haifa muku Mai Ceto; shi ne Kiristi Ubangiji.
This day there has been born to you, in the town of David, a Savior, who is Christ and Lord.
12 Wannan zai zama alama a gare ku. Za ku tarar da jariri a nannaɗe a zane kwance a kwami.”
And this will be the sign for you. You will find the infant swathed, and lying in a manger.”
13 Ba labari sai ga taron rundunar sama suka bayyana tare da mala’ikan, suna yabon Allah suna cewa,
Then suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly Host, praising God, and singing –
14 “Ɗaukaka ga Allah a can cikin sama, a duniya kuma salama ga mutane waɗanda tagomashinsa yake bisansu.”
“glory to God on high, and on earth peace among those in whom he finds pleasure.”
15 Da mala’ikun suka bar su, su suka koma sama, sai makiyayan suka ce wa juna, “Mu je Betlehem mu ga wannan abin da ya faru, wanda Ubangiji ya sanar mana.”
Now, when the angels had left them and gone back to heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go at once to Bethlehem, and see this thing that has happened, of which the Lord has told us.”
16 Sai suka tafi da sauri, suka tarar da Maryamu da Yusuf, da kuma jaririn kwance a kwami.
So they went quickly, and found Mary and Joseph, and the infant lying in a manger;
17 Sa’ad da suka gan shi, sai suka baza maganar da aka gaya musu game da yaron,
and, when they saw it, they told of all that had been said to them about this child.
18 duk kuwa waɗanda suka ji wannan, suka yi mamaki a kan abin da makiyayan suka faɗa.
All who heard the shepherds were astonished at their story,
19 Amma Maryamu ta riƙe dukan waɗannan abubuwa ta kuma yi ta tunaninsu a zuciyarta.
while Mary treasured in her heart all that they said, and thought about it often.
20 Makiyayan kuwa suka koma, suna ɗaukaka suna kuma yabon Allah saboda dukan abubuwan da suka ji, suka kuma gani, yadda aka gaya musu.
And the shepherds went back, giving glory and praise to God for all that they had heard and seen. It had all happened as they had been told.
21 A rana ta takwas, da lokaci ya yi da za a yi masa kaciya, sai aka ba shi suna Yesu, sunan da mala’ika ya ba shi kafin a yi cikinsa.
Eight days after the birth of the child, when it was time to circumcise him, he received the name Jesus – the name given him by the angel before his conception.
22 Da lokacin tsarkakewarsu bisa ga Dokar Musa ya cika, sai Yusuf da Maryamu suka ɗauke shi suka haura zuwa Urushalima don su miƙa shi ga Ubangiji
When the period of purification of mother and child, required by the Law of Moses, came to an end, his parents took the child up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord,
23 (yadda yake a rubuce a Dokar Ubangiji cewa, “Kowane ɗan fari, za a keɓe shi ga Ubangiji”),
in compliance with the Law of the Lord that every firstborn male will be dedicated to the Lord,
24 don kuma su miƙa hadaya bisa ga abin da aka faɗa a Dokar Ubangiji cewa, “kurciyoyi biyu ko’yan tattabarai biyu.”
and also to offer the sacrifice required by the Law of the Lord – a pair of turtle-doves or two young pigeons.
25 To, akwai wani mutum a Urushalima mai suna Siman, shi mai adalci da kuma mai ibada. Yana jiran fansar Isra’ila, Ruhu Mai Tsarki kuwa yana tare da shi.
There was at that time in Jerusalem a man named Simeon, a righteous and devout man, who lived in constant expectation of Israel’s consulation, and under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
26 An bayyana masa ta wurin Ruhu Mai Tsarki cewa ba zai mutu ba sai ya ga Kiristi na Ubangiji.
It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he should not die until he had seen the Lord’s Christ.
27 Da Ruhu ya iza shi, sai ya shiga cikin filin haikali. Sa’ad da iyayen suka kawo jaririn nan Yesu don su yi masa abin da al’adar Doka ta bukaci,
Moved by the Spirit, Simeon came into the Temple Courts, and, when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him what was customary under the Law,
28 sai Siman ya karɓi yaron a hannuwansa ya yabi Allah, yana cewa,
Simeon himself took the child in his arms, and blessed God, and said:
29 “Ya Ubangiji Mai Iko Duka, kamar yadda ka yi alkawari, yanzu ka sallami bawanka lafiya.
“Now, Lord, you will let your servant go, according to your word, in peace,
30 Gama idanuna sun ga cetonka,
for my eyes have seen the salvation
31 wanda ka shirya a gaban dukan mutane,
which you have prepared in the sight of all nations –
32 haske don bayyanawa ga Al’ummai da kuma ɗaukaka ga mutanenka Isra’ila.”
a light to bring light to the Gentiles, and to be the glory of your people Israel.”
33 Mahaifin yaron da kuma mahaifiyarsa suka yi mamaki abin da aka faɗa game da shi.
While the child’s father and mother were wondering at what was said about him,
34 Sa’an nan Siman ya sa musu albarka ya ce wa Maryamu mahaifiyarsa, “An ƙaddara yaron nan yă zama sanadin fāɗuwa da tashin mutane da yawa a Isra’ila, zai kuma zama alamar da mutane ba za su so ba,
Simeon gave them his blessing, and said to Mary, the child’s mother, “This child is appointed to be the cause of the fall and rise of many in Israel, and to be a sign much spoken against –
35 ta haka za a fallasa tunanin zukatan mutane da yawa. Ke ma, takobi zai soki zuciyarki.”
Yes, the sword will pierce your own heart – and so the thoughts in many minds will be disclosed.”
36 Akwai wata annabiya ma, mai suna Anna, diyar Fanuwel, na kabilar Asher. Ta tsufa kutuf; ta yi zama da mijinta shekaru bakwai bayan sun yi aure,
There was also a prophet named Hannah, a daughter of Phanuel and of the tribe of Asher. She was far advanced in years, having lived with her husband for seven years after marriage,
37 ta kuwa zama gwauruwa sai da ta kai shekaru tamanin da huɗu. Ba ta taɓa barin haikali ba, tana sujada dare da rana, tana kuma azumi da addu’a.
and then a widow, until she had reached the age of eighty-four. She never left the Temple Courts, but, fasting and praying, worshiped God night and day.
38 Tana haurawa wurinsu ke nan a wannan lokaci, sai ta yi wa Allah godiya ta kuma yi magana game da yaron nan ga dukan waɗanda suke sauraron fansar Urushalima.
At that moment she came up, and began publicly to thank God and to speak about the child to all who were looking for the deliverance of Jerusalem.
39 Bayan da Yusuf da Maryamu suka gama yin dukan abubuwan da Dokar Ubangiji ta bukaci, sai suka koma Galili suka tafi Nazaret garinsu.
When the child’s parents had done everything required by the Law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee to their own town of Nazareth.
40 Yaron kuwa ya yi girma ya yi ƙarfi; ya cika da hikima, alherin Allah kuwa yana bisansa.
The child grew and became strong and wise, and the blessing of God was on him.
41 Kowace shekara, iyayen Yesu sukan je Urushalima don Bikin Ƙetarewa.
Every year the child’s parents used to go to Jerusalem at the Passover Festival.
42 Da Yesu ya cika shekaru goma sha biyu, sai suka tafi Bikin bisa ga al’ada.
When Jesus was twelve years old, they went according to custom to Jerusalem,
43 Bayan Bikin, da iyayen suka kama hanya don su koma gida, sai Yesu, yaron nan, ya tsaya a Urushalima, ba da saninsu ba.
and had finished their visit; but, when they started to return, the boy Jesus remained behind in Jerusalem, without their knowing it.
44 Su kuwa sun ɗauka yana tare da su, saboda haka, suka yi ta tafiya har na yini guda. Sa’an nan suka fara nemansa cikin’yan’uwansu da abokansu.
Thinking that he was with their fellow travelers, they went one day’s journey before searching for him among their relatives and acquaintances;
45 Da ba su gan shi ba, sai suka koma Urushalima nemansa.
and then, as they did not find him, they returned to Jerusalem, searching everywhere for him.
46 Bayan kwana uku, sai suka same shi a filin haikali zaune a tsakiyar malamai, yana sauraronsu yana kuma yi musu tambayoyi.
It was not until the third day that they found him in the Temple Courts, sitting among the teachers, now listening to them, now asking them questions.
47 Dukan waɗanda suka ji shi, suka yi mamakin fahimtarsa, da amsoshinsa.
All who listened to him marveled at his intelligence and his answers.
48 Da iyayensa suka gan shi sai suka yi mamaki. Mahaifiyarsa ta ce masa, “Ɗana, don me ka yi mana haka? Ni da mahaifinka duk mun damu muna nemanka.”
His parents were amazed when they saw him, and his mother said to him, “My child, why have you treated us like this? Your father and I have been searching for you in great distress.”
49 Sai ya ce, “Don me kuke nemana? Ba ku san cewa, dole in kasance a gidan Ubana ba?”
“What made you search for me?” he answered. “Didn’t you know that I must be in my Father’s house?”
50 Amma ba su fahimci abin da yake faɗin musu ba.
His parents did not understand what he meant.
51 Sai ya koma Nazaret tare da su, yana yi musu biyayya. Mahaifiyarsa kuma ta riƙe dukan waɗannan abubuwa a zuciyarta.
However he went down with them to Nazareth, and submitted himself to their control; and his mother treasured all that was said in her heart.
52 Yesu kuwa ya yi girma, ya kuma ƙaru cikin hikima, ya kuma sami tagomashi a wurin Allah da mutane.
And Jesus grew in wisdom as he grew in years, and gained the blessing of God and people.
