ગીતશાસ્ત્ર 90

1 ૧ હે ઈશ્વર, પેઢી દરપેઢી તમે અમારું નિવાસસ્થાન થયા છો.

A Prayer of Moses the man of God. Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations.

2 ૨ પર્વતો ઉત્પન્ન થયા હતા, અને તમે પૃથ્વી અને જગતને રચ્યાં હતાં, તે પહેલાંથી, એટલે અનાદિકાળથી તે અનંતકાળ સુધી, તમે ઈશ્વર છો.

Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.

3 ૩ તમે મનુષ્યોને ધૂળમાં પાછા મેળવી દો છો અને તમે કહો છો, “હે મનુષ્યપુત્રો પાછા ફરો.”

Thou turnest man to destruction; and sayest, Return, ye children of men.

4 ૪ કારણ કે તમારી દ્રષ્ટિમાં હજાર વર્ષો વીતી ગયેલી કાલના જેવાં છે અને રાતના એક પહોર જેવાં છે.

For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.

5 ૫ તમે તેઓને પૂરની જેમ તાણી જાઓ છો અને તેઓ નિંદ્રા જેવાં છે; તેઓ સવારમાં ઊગતાં ઘાસ જેવા છે.

Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep: in the morning they are like grass which groweth.

6 ૬ તે સવારે ખીલે છે અને વધે છે; સાંજે સુકાઈ જાય છે અને ચીમળાય છે.

In the morning it flourisheth, and groweth; in the evening it is cut down, and withereth.

7 ૭ ખરેખર, તમારા કોપથી અમારો નાશ થાય છે અને તમારા રોષથી અમને ત્રાસ થાય છે.

For we are consumed by thy anger, and by thy wrath are we troubled.

8 ૮ તમે અમારા અન્યાય તમારી સમક્ષ, અમારાં ગુપ્ત પાપો તમારા મુખના પ્રકાશમાં મૂક્યાં છે.

Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret sins in the light of thy countenance.

9 ૯ તમારા રોષમાં અમારા સર્વ દિવસો વીતી જાય છે; નિસાસાની જેમ અમે અમારા વર્ષો પૂરાં કરીએ છીએ.

For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: we spend our years as a tale that is told.

10 ૧૦ અમારી ઉંમરના દિવસો સિત્તેર વર્ષ જેટલા છે, અથવા બળના કારણથી તેઓ એંસી વર્ષ થાય; પણ તેઓનો ગર્વ, શ્રમ તથા દુ: ખમાત્ર છે. હા, તે ઝડપથી પસાર થઈ જાય છે અને અમે ઊડી જઈએ છીએ.

The days of our years are seventy years; and if by reason of strength they are eighty years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.

11 ૧૧ તમારા ક્રોધના બળને તથા તમારો રોષ ધ્યાનમાં લઈને તે પ્રમાણે તમારી બીક રાખવી તે કોણ જાણે છે?

Who knoweth the power of thy anger? even according to thy fear, so is thy wrath.

12 ૧૨ તમે અમને અમારું જીવન એવી રીતે ગણવાને શીખવો કે જેથી અમને ડહાપણવાળું હૃદય પ્રાપ્ત થાય.

So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts to wisdom.

13 ૧૩ હે યહોવાહ, પાછા આવો; ક્યાં સુધી? તમારા સેવકો પર કરુણા કરો.

Return, O LORD, how long? and repent thou concerning thy servants.

14 ૧૪ સવારે અમને તમારી કૃપાથી ભરી દો, કે જેથી અમે અમારા સર્વ દિવસો હર્ષ તથા આનંદમાં ગુજારીએ.

O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.

15 ૧૫ જે દિવસોમાં તમે અમને દુઃખી કર્યા છે અને જે વર્ષોમાં અમે પીડા ભોગવી છે, તે પ્રમાણે અમને આનંદ પમાડો.

Make us glad according to the days in which thou hast afflicted us, and the years in which we have seen evil.

16 ૧૬ તમારા સેવકોને તમારાં કૃત્યો અને તેઓના દીકરાઓ પર તમારો મહિમા દેખાઓ.

Let thy work appear to thy servants, and thy glory to their children.

17 ૧૭ અમારા પર અમારા પ્રભુ ઈશ્વરની કૃપા થાઓ; તમે અમારા હાથનાં કામ અમારે માટે સ્થાપન કરો; હા, અમારા હાથનાં કામ તમે સ્થાપન કરો.

And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it.
