ગીતશાસ્ત્ર 79

1 ૧ આસાફનું ગીત. હે ઈશ્વર, વિદેશીઓ તમારા વતનમાં આવ્યા છે; તેઓએ તમારા પવિત્રસ્થાનને અશુદ્ધ કર્યુ છે; તેઓએ યરુશાલેમને ખંડિયેર કરી નાખ્યું છે.

God, the nations have come into your inheritance. They have defiled your holy temple. They have laid Jerusalem [City of peace] in heaps.

2 ૨ તેઓએ તમારા સેવકોના મૃતદેહોને જંગલી પક્ષીઓને ખાવા માટે આપ્યા છે તેઓએ તમારા ભક્તોના મૃતદેહોને ખાવા માટે જંગલી પશુઓને આપ્યા છે.

They have given the dead bodies of your servants to be food for the birds of the sky, the flesh of your saints to the animals of the earth.

3 ૩ તેઓએ યરુશાલેમની આસપાસ પાણીની જેમ લોહી વહેવડાવ્યું છે અને તેઓને દફનાવનાર કોઈ નથી.

Their blood they have shed like water around Jerusalem [City of peace]. There was no one to bury them.

4 ૪ અમે અમારા પડોશીઓને નિંદારૂપ થયા છીએ, જેઓ અમારી આસપાસ છે તેઓની આગળ તિરસ્કારરૂપ તથા મશ્કરીપાત્ર થયા છીએ.

We have become a reproach to our neighbors, a scoffing and derision to those who are around us.

5 ૫ હે યહોવાહ, ક્યાં સુધી? શું તમે સદાને માટે કોપાયમાન રહેશો? શું તમારો રોષ અગ્નિની જેમ સળગી ઊઠશે?

How long, Adonai? Will you be angry forever? Will your jealousy burn like fire?

6 ૬ જે વિદેશીઓ તમને જાણતા નથી અને જે રાજ્યની પ્રજાઓ તમારા નામે અરજ કરતી નથી, તેઓ પર તમારો કોપ રેડો.

Pour out your wrath on the nations that don’t know you; on the kingdoms that don’t call on your name;

7 ૭ કારણ કે તેઓ યાકૂબને ગળી ગયા છે અને તેનું રહેઠાણ ઉજ્જડ કર્યું છે.

For they have devoured Jacob [Supplanter], and destroyed his homeland.

8 ૮ અમારા પૂર્વજોનાં પાપોને લીધે અમને દોષિત ઠરાવશો નહિ; અમારા પર તમારી દયા કરવામાં વિલંબ કરશો નહિ, કારણ કે અમે બહુ દુર્દશામાં આવી પડ્યા છીએ.

Don’t hold the iniquities of our forefathers against us. Let your tender racham ·merciful love· speedily meet us, for we are in desperate need.

9 ૯ હે અમારા ઉદ્ધારનાર ઈશ્વર, તમારા નામના મહિમાને માટે, અમારી સહાય કરો; તમારા નામની ખાતર અમને અમારાં પાપોથી બચાવો અને માફ કરો.

Help us, God of our yesha' ·salvation·, for the kavod ·weighty glory· of your name. Deliver us, and forgive our sins, for your name’s sake.

10 ૧૦ વિદેશીઓ શા માટે એવું કહે છે કે, “તેઓના ઈશ્વર ક્યાં છે?” અમે નજરે જોઈએ એવી રીતે તમારા સેવકોના વહેવડાવેલા લોહીનો બદલો વિદેશીઓને આપો.

Why should the nations say, “Where is their God?” Let it be known among the nations, before our eyes, that vengeance for your servants’ blood is being poured out.

11 ૧૧ બંદીવાનોના નિસાસા તમારી આગળ પહોંચો; જેઓ મરણને માટે નિર્મિત થયેલા છે તેઓનું, તમારા મહાન સામર્થ્ય પ્રમાણે, રક્ષણ કરો.

Let the sighing of the prisoner come before you. According to the greatness of your power, preserve those who are sentenced to death.

12 ૧૨ હે પ્રભુ, અમારા પડોશી જે રીતે તમારું અપમાન કરે છે, તે જ રીતે તેઓને તમે સાતગણી સજા તેઓના ખોળે આપો.

Pay back to our neighbors seven times into their bosom their reproach with which they have reproached you, Lord.

13 ૧૩ જેથી અમે અમારા લોકો તથા તમારા ચારના ઘેટાં નિરંતર તમારી આભારસ્તુતિ કરીશું. પેઢી દરપેઢી અમે તમારું સ્તવન કરીશું.

So we, your people and sheep of your pasture, will yadah ·extend hands in thankful praise· to you forever. We will tehilah ·praise song· you forever, to all generations.
