ગીતશાસ્ત્ર 127

1 ૧ ચઢવાનું ગીત; સુલેમાનનું. જો યહોવાહ ઘર ન બાંધે તો, તેના બાંધનારાનો શ્રમ વ્યર્થ છે, જો યહોવાહ નગરનું રક્ષણ ન કરે તો, ચોકીદારની ચોકી કરવી કેવળ વ્યર્થ છે.

A Song of degrees for Solomon. Except the LORD shall build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD shall keep the city, the watchman waketh in vain.

2 ૨ તમારું વહેલું ઊઠવું, અને મોડું સૂવું, અને કષ્ટ વેઠીને રોટલી ખાવી તે પણ વ્યર્થ છે, કેમ કે યહોવાહ પોતાના વહાલાઓને ઊંઘમાં આપે છે.

It is vain for you to rise early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.

3 ૩ જુઓ, સંતાનો તો યહોવાહ પાસેથી મળેલો વારસો છે અને પેટનાં સંતાન તેમના તરફનું ઇનામ છે.

Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

4 ૪ યુવાવસ્થામાંના પુત્રો બળવાન વીર યોદ્ધાના હાથમાંના તીક્ષ્ણ બાણ જેવા છે.

As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.

5 ૫ જે માણસનો ભાથો તેનાથી ભરેલો છે તે આશીર્વાદિત છે. જ્યારે તે નગરના દરવાજે શત્રુઓ સામે લડશે, ત્યારે તેઓ લજ્જિત નહિ થાય.

Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.
