ગણના 32
1 ૧ હવે રુબેનના તથા ગાદના વંશજો પાસે મોટી સંખ્યામાં જાનવરો હતાં. જયારે તેઓએ જોયું કે યાઝેરનો તથા ગિલ્યાદનો દેશ જાનવરો માટે અનુકૂળ જગ્યા છે.
Now the descendants of Reuben and of Gad had large numbers of livestock. When they saw the land of Jazer and Gilead, the land was a wonderful place for livestock.
So the descendants of Gad and Reuben came and spoke to Moses, to Eleazar the priest, and to the leaders of the community. They said,
“This is a list of places we have surveyed: Ataroth, Dibon, Jazer, Nimrah, Heshbon, Elealeh, Sebam, Nebo, and Beon.
4 ૪ એટલે ઇઝરાયલી લોકોની આગળ જે દેશ પર યહોવાહે હુમલો કર્યો તે દેશ જાનવરોના માટે ખૂબ અનુકૂળ છે. તારા દાસો પાસે પુષ્કળ પશુસંપત્તિ છે.”
These are the lands that Yahweh attacked before the community of Israel, and they are good places for livestock. We, your servants, have a lot of livestock.”
5 ૫ તેઓએ કહ્યું, “જો અમે તારી દ્રષ્ટિમાં કૃપા પામ્યા હોય, તો અમને એટલે તારા દાસોને આ દેશ વતન તરીકે આપ. યર્દન પાર અમને લઈ ન જા.”
They said, “If we have found favor in your eyes, let this land be given to us, your servants, as a possession. Do not make us cross over the Jordan.”
6 ૬ મૂસાએ ગાદ તથા રુબેનના વંશજોને કહ્યું, “શું તમારા ભાઈઓ યુદ્ધમાં જાય છે ત્યારે તમે અહીં બેસી રહેશો?
Moses replied to the descendants of Gad and Reuben, “Should your brothers go to war while you settle down here?
Why discourage the hearts of the people of Israel from going over into the land that Yahweh has given them?
Your fathers did the same thing when I sent them from Kadesh Barnea to examine the land.
9 ૯ જ્યારે તેઓએ એશ્કોલ ખીણમાં જઈને તે દેશ જોયો ત્યારે તેઓએ ઇઝરાયલી લોકોનાં હૃદય નિરાશ કરી નાખ્યાં કે જેથી તેઓ જે દેશ યહોવાહે તેઓને આપ્યો છે તેમાં પ્રવેશ કરે નહિ.
They went up to the Valley of Eshkol. They saw the land and then discouraged the hearts of the people of Israel so that they refused to enter the land that Yahweh had given them.
Yahweh's anger was kindled on that day. He took an oath and said,
11 ૧૧ ‘વીસ વર્ષના કે તેથી વધારે ઉંમરના જે માણસો મિસર દેશમાંથી બહાર આવ્યા તેઓમાંનો કોઈ પણ જે દેશ વિષે મેં ઇબ્રાહિમ, ઇસહાક તથા યાકૂબ આગળ સમ ખાધા તેને જોવા પામશે નહિ. કેમ કે તેઓ મારી પાછળ પૂરા મનથી ચાલ્યા નથી.
'Surely none of the men who came up out of Egypt, from twenty years old and up, will see the land about which I swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, because they have not completely followed me, except for
12 ૧૨ કનિઝી યફૂન્નેનો દીકરો કાલેબ તથા નૂનનો દીકરો યહોશુઆ. ફક્ત કાલેબ તથા યહોશુઆ પૂરા મનથી મારી પાછળ ચાલ્યા હતા.’”
Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite, and Joshua son of Nun. Only Caleb and Joshua have completely followed me.'
13 ૧૩ તેથી ઇઝરાયલ ઉપર યહોવાહ કોપાયમાન થયા. તેમણે તેમને ચાલીસ વર્ષ સુધી, જે પેઢીએ યહોવાહની દ્રષ્ટિમાં ખોટું કર્યું હતું તે બધાનો નાશ થાય ત્યાં સુધી તેઓને અરણ્યમાં ચારે બાજુ ભટકાવ્યા.
So Yahweh's anger was kindled against Israel. He made them wander around in the wilderness for forty years until all the generation who had done evil in his sight was destroyed.
14 ૧૪ જુઓ, તમે પાપી લોકો જેવા, તમારા પિતાઓની જગ્યાએ ઊભા થઈને, ઇઝરાયલ પ્રત્યે યહોવાહનો ગુસ્સો હજી પણ વધુ સળગાવ્યો છે.
Look, you have risen up in your fathers' place, like just more sinful men, to add to Yahweh's burning anger toward Israel.
15 ૧૫ જો તમે તેની પાછળથી ફરી જશો, તો તેઓ ફરીથી ઇઝરાયલને અરણ્યમાં ભટકતા મૂકી દેશે અને તમારાથી આ બધા લોકોનો નાશ થશે.”
If you turn away from following him, he will again leave Israel in the wilderness and you will have destroyed all this people.”
16 ૧૬ તેથી તેઓએ મૂસાની પાસે આવીને કહ્યું, “અહીં અમને અમારાં ઘેટાંબકરાં માટે વાડા અને અમારા કુટુંબો માટે નગરો બાંધવા દે.
So they came near Moses and said, “Allow us to build fences here for our cattle and cities for our families.
17 ૧૭ ત્યાર બાદ અમે જાતે શસ્ત્રસજજ થઈને ઇઝરાયલી લોકોની આગળ રહી તેઓને તેઓની જગ્યાએ પહોંચાડતા સુધી લડીશું. પણ અમારા કુટુંબો આ દેશના રહેવાસીઓને લીધે કિલ્લેબંધીવાળા નગરોમાં રહેશે.
However, we ourselves will be ready and armed to go with Israel's army until we have led them into their place. But our families will live in the fortified cities because of the other people who still live in this land.
We will not return to our houses until every one of the people of Israel has obtained his inheritance.
19 ૧૯ અમે યર્દન નદીને પેલે પારના દેશમાં તેઓની સાથે વારસો નહિ લઈએ, કેમ કે, યર્દન નદીને પૂર્વ કિનારે અમને વારસો મળી ચૂક્યો છે.”
We will not inherit the land with them on the other side of the Jordan, because our inheritance is here on the east side of the Jordan.”
20 ૨૦ મૂસાએ તેઓને કહ્યું, “જો તમે જે કહ્યું છે તે પ્રમાણે કરશો અને સજ્જ થઈને યહોવાહની આગળ તમે યુદ્ધ માટે જશો.
So Moses replied to them, “If you do what you say, if you arm yourselves to go before Yahweh to war,
21 ૨૧ જ્યાં સુધી યહોવાહ પોતાના શત્રુઓને પોતાની આગળથી કાઢી મૂકે ત્યાં સુધી તમે શસ્ત્રસજ્જિત માણસો યહોવાહની આગળથી યર્દન પાર જશો.
then every one of your armed men must cross over the Jordan before Yahweh, until he has driven out his enemies from before him
22 ૨૨ તે દેશ યહોવાહના તાબામાં થાય. ત્યારપછી તમે પાછા આવજો. તમે યહોવાહ તથા ઇઝરાયલ પ્રત્યે નિર્દોષ ઠરશો. યહોવાહની આગળ આ દેશ તમારું વતન થશે.
and the land is subdued before him. Then afterward you may return. You will be guiltless toward Yahweh and toward Israel. This land will be your possession before Yahweh.
23 ૨૩ પરંતુ જો તમે તે નહિ કર્યું હોય તો તમે યહોવાહની વિરુદ્ધનું પાપ કર્યું ગણાશે. નિશ્ચે તમારું પાપ તમને પકડી પાડશે.
But if you do not do so, look, you will have sinned against Yahweh. Be sure that your sin will find you out.
Build cities for your families and pens for your sheep; then do what you have said.”
The descendants of Gad and Reuben spoke to Moses and said, “Your servants will do as you, our master, commands.
26 ૨૬ અમારાં બાળકો, અમારી સ્ત્રીઓ, અમારાં ઘેટાબકરાં સહિત અમારાં તમામ જાનવરો સહિત અહીં ગિલ્યાદના નગરોમાં રહીશું.
Our little ones, our wives, our flocks, and all our livestock will stay there in the cities of Gilead.
27 ૨૭ પણ યુદ્ધને માટે સજ્જ થયેલો તારા બધા દાસો મારા માલિકના કહેવા પ્રમાણે યર્દન પાર યહોવાહની સમક્ષ લડાઈ કરવાને જઈશું.”
However, we, your servants, will cross over before Yahweh to battle, every man who is armed for war, as you, our master, say.”
28 ૨૮ તેથી મૂસાએ એલાઝાર યાજક, નૂનનો દીકરો યહોશુઆ તથા ઇઝરાયલના કુળના કુટુંબોના આગેવાનોને સૂચના આપીને કહ્યું,
So Moses gave instructions concerning them to Eleazar the priest, to Joshua son of Nun, and to the leaders of the ancestor's clans in the tribes of the people of Israel.
29 ૨૯ મૂસાએ તેઓને કહ્યું, “જો ગાદના તથા રુબેનના વંશજો યુદ્ધને સારુ હથિયાર સજીને દરેક માણસ યહોવાહની આગળ તમારી સાથે લડાઈ કરવાને યર્દનને પેલે પાર જાય, જો તે દેશ તમારા તાબામાં આવી જાય તો તમે તેઓને ગિલ્યાદનો દેશ વતન તરીકે આપજો.
Moses said to them, “If the descendants of Gad and Reuben cross over the Jordan with you, every man who is armed to battle before Yahweh, and if the land is subdued before you, then you will give them the land of Gilead as a possession.
30 ૩૦ પણ જો તેઓ શસ્ત્રસજ્જ થઈને તમારી સાથે યર્દનને પાર ન જાય તો તેઓને કનાન દેશમાં તમારી મધ્યે વતન મળશે.”
But if they do not cross over with you armed, then they will acquire their possessions among you in the land of Canaan.”
31 ૩૧ ગાદના તથા રુબેનના વંશજોએ જવાબ આપીને કહ્યું, “જેમ યહોવાહે તારા દાસોને કહ્યું છે તે પ્રમાણે અમે કરીશું.
So the descendants of Gad and Reuben answered and said, “As Yahweh has said to us, your servants, this is what we will do.
32 ૩૨ અમે શસ્ત્રસજ્જ થઈને યહોવાહની આગળ યર્દન પાર કરીને કનાનના દેશમાં જઈશું, પણ યર્દન નદીના પૂર્વ કાંઠે અમારા વારસાની જમીન રહેશે.”
We will cross over armed before Yahweh into the land of Canaan, but our possessed inheritance will remain with us on this side of the Jordan.”
33 ૩૩ આથી મૂસાએ ગાદના તથા રુબેનના વંશજોને તથા યૂસફના દીકરા મનાશ્શાના અર્ધકુળને અમોરીઓના રાજા સીહોનનું રાજ્ય તથા બાશાનના રાજા ઓગનું રાજ્ય આપ્યું. તેણે તેઓને તે દેશ, તેની સરહદો સાથે તેના બધા નગરો તથા તે દેશની આજુબાજુનાં બધાં નગરો આપ્યાં.
So to the descendants of Gad and Reuben, and also to the half tribe of Manasseh son of Joseph, Moses gave the kingdom of Sihon, king of the Amorites, and of Og, king of Bashan. He gave to them the land, and distributed to them all its cities with their borders, the cities of the land around them.
The descendants of Gad rebuilt Dibon, Ataroth, Aroer,
Atroth Shophan, Jazer, Jogbehah,
Beth Nimrah, and Beth Haran as fortified cities with pens for sheep.
The descendants of Reuben rebuilt Heshbon, Elealeh, Kiriathaim,
38 ૩૮ નબો, બઆલ-મેઓન પછી તેઓના નામ બદલીને તથા સિબ્માહ બાંધ્યાં. જે નગરો તેઓએ બાંધ્યાં તેઓને તેઓએ બીજાં નામ આપ્યાં.
Nebo, Baal Meon—their names were later changed, and Sibmah. They gave other names to the cities that they rebuilt.
39 ૩૯ મનાશ્શાના દીકરા માખીરના વંશજોએ ગિલ્યાદ જઈને તેને જીતી લીધું અને તેમાં રહેતા અમોરીઓને કાઢી મૂક્યા.
The descendants of Machir son of Manasseh went to Gilead and took it away from the Amorites who were in it.
Then Moses gave Gilead to Machir son of Manasseh, and his people settled there.
41 ૪૧ મનાશ્શાના દીકરા યાઈરે ત્યાં જઈને તેનાં નગરો કબજે કરી લીધાં અને તેઓને હાવ્વોથ-યાઈર એવું નામ આપ્યું.
Jair son of Manasseh went and captured its towns and called them Havvoth Jair.
Nobah went and captured Kenath and its villages, and he called it Nobah, after his own name.
