લૂક 22

1 ૧ હવે બેખમીર રોટલીનું પર્વ જે પાસ્ખાપર્વ કહેવાય છે, તે પાસે આવ્યું.

Now the Festival of Unleavened Bread, also called the Passover, was approaching.

2 ૨ ઈસુને શી રીતે મારી નાખવા, તેની તજવીજ મુખ્ય યાજકો તથા શાસ્ત્રીઓ કરતા હતા; કેમ કે તેઓ લોકોથી બીતા હતા.

The chief priests and religious teachers were looking for a way to kill Jesus, but were afraid of what the people would do.

3 ૩ યહૂદા જે ઇશ્કારિયોત કહેવાતો હતો, જે બાર શિષ્યોમાંનો એક હતો, તેનામાં શેતાને પ્રવેશ કર્યો.

Satan entered into Judas, surnamed Iscariot, one of the twelve disciples.

4 ૪ તેણે જઈને મુખ્ય યાજકો તથા સરદારોના હાથમાં ઈસુને શી રીતે સ્વાધીન કરવા, તે સંબંધી તેઓની સાથે મસલત કરી.

He went and discussed with the chief priests and guard officers how he could betray Jesus.

5 ૫ તેથી તેઓ ખુશ થયા, અને યહૂદાને પૈસા આપવાનું વચન આપ્યું;

They were delighted, and offered him money.

6 ૬ તે સહમત થયો, અને લોકો હાજર ન હોય ત્યારે ઈસુને તેઓના હાથમાં સોંપવાની તક તે શોધતો રહ્યો.

He agreed, and began to look for an opportunity to hand over Jesus when a crowd would not be there.

7 ૭ બેખમીર રોટલીનો દિવસ આવ્યો કે જયારે પાસ્ખાના યજ્ઞમાં ઘેંટાઓનું બલિદાન કરવાનું હતું.

The Day of Unleavened Bread arrived when the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed.

8 ૮ ઈસુએ પિતરને તથા યોહાનને એમ કહીને મોકલ્યા કે, ‘જઈને આપણે સારુ પાસ્ખા તૈયાર કરો કે આપણે તે ખાઈએ.’”

Jesus sent Peter and John, telling them, “Go and prepare the Passover meal, so we can eat it together.”

9 ૯ તેઓએ ઈસુને કહ્યું કે, ‘અમે ક્યાં તૈયાર કરીએ એ વિષે તમારી શી ઇચ્છા છે?’”

They asked him, “Where do you want us to prepare for it?”

10 ૧૦ ઈસુએ તેઓને કહ્યું કે, ‘જુઓ, તમને શહેરમાં પેસતાં પાણીનો ઘડો લઈને જતો એક પુરુષ મળશે, તે જે ઘરમાં જાય ત્યાં તેની પાછળ જજો.’”

He replied, “When you enter the city you'll meet a man carrying a jar of water. Follow him and go into the house he enters.

11 ૧૧ ઘરના માલિકને કહેજો કે,’ ઉપદેશક તને કહે છે કે, જ્યાં મારા શિષ્યોની સાથે હું પાસ્ખા ખાઉં તે ઉતારાની ઓરડી ક્યાં છે?

Tell the owner of the house that the Teacher asks you, ‘Where is the dining room where I can eat the Passover with my disciples?’

12 ૧૨ તે પોતે તમને એક મોટી મેડી સુસજ્જ અને તૈયાર કરેલી બતાવશે. ત્યાં આપણે સારું પાસ્ખા તૈયાર કરો.’”

He'll show you a large upstairs room that already has the necessary furniture. Prepare the meal there.”

13 ૧૩ તેઓ ગયા, જેમ ઈસુએ તેઓને કહ્યું હતું તેમ તેઓને મળ્યું, અને તેઓએ પાસ્ખા તૈયાર કર્યું.

They went and found that everything was just as he had told them, and they prepared the Passover meal there.

14 ૧૪ વખત થયો ત્યારે તે બેઠા, તથા બાર પ્રેરિતો તેમની સાથે બેઠા.

When the time came, he sat down at the table with his apostles. He told them,

15 ૧૫ ઈસુએ તેઓને કહ્યું કે, ‘મરણ સહ્યાં પહેલાં આ પાસ્ખા તમારી સાથે ખાવાની મારી ઘણી ઇચ્છા હતી.

“I've been really looking forward to eating this Passover meal with you before my sufferings begin.

16 ૧૬ કેમ કે હું તમને કહું છું કે, ઈશ્વરના રાજ્યમાં તે પૂરું થાય ત્યાં સુધી હું તે ફરી ખાઈશ નહિ.’”

I tell you I shall not eat it again until the time is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.”

17 ૧૭ ઈસુએ પ્યાલો લઈને આભાર માની અને કહ્યું કે, ‘આ લો, અને માંહોમાંહે વહેંચો.

Jesus took the cup, and after he had given thanks, he said, “Take this and share it among yourselves.

18 ૧૮ કેમ કે હું તમને કહું છું કે, ઈશ્વરનું રાજ્ય આવે ત્યાં સુધી હું હવેથી દ્રાક્ષનો રસ પીનાર નથી.’”

I tell you that I won't drink again of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.”

19 ૧૯ પછી ઈસુએ રોટલી લઈને આભાર માની અને ભાંગી, અને તેઓને આપીને કહ્યું કે, ‘આ મારું શરીર છે જે તમારે સારુ આપવામાં આવે છે, મારી યાદગીરીમાં આ કરો.’”

He picked up some bread, and after he had given thanks, he broke it into pieces and gave it to them. “This is my body which is given for you; do this in order to remember me,” Jesus told them.

20 ૨૦ તે પ્રમાણે ભોજન કર્યા પછી તેમણે પ્યાલો લઈને કહ્યું કે, ‘આ પ્યાલો તમારે સારુ વહેવડાવેલા મારા રક્તમાંનો નવો કરાર છે.

In the same way after they had finished supper, he picked up the cup and said, “This cup is the new agreement in my blood which is poured out for you.”

21 ૨૧ પણ જુઓ, જે મને પરાધીન કરે છે તેનો હાથ મારી સાથે મેજ પર છે.

“In spite of this, my betrayer is sitting right here with me at the table.

22 ૨૨ માણસનો દીકરો ઠરાવ્યાં પ્રમાણે જાય છે ખરો, પણ જે માણસથી તે પરાધીન કરાય છે તેને અફસોસ છે!’

For it has been determined that the Son of man will die, yet how disastrous it will be for his betrayer!”

23 ૨૩ તેઓ અંદરોઅંદર પૂછપરછ કરવા લાગ્યા, કે’ આપણામાંનો કોણ આ કામ કરવાનો હશે?’”

They began to argue among themselves as to who this might be and who could do this.

24 ૨૪ આપણામાં કોણ મોટો ગણાય તે સંબંધી પણ તેઓમાં વાદવિવાદ શરૂ થયો.

At the same time they also got into a quarrel about which of them was the most important.

25 ૨૫ ઈસુએ તેઓને કહ્યું કે, ‘વિદેશીઓના રાજાઓ તેમના પર સત્તા ચલાવે છે અને જેઓ તેમના પર અધિકાર ચલાવે છે તેઓ પરોપકારી કહેવાય છે.

Jesus told them, “Foreign kings lord it over their subjects, and those having power even want people to call them ‘benefactors.’

26 ૨૬ પણ તમે એવા ન થાઓ; પણ તમારામાં જે મોટો હોય તેણે નાના જેવા થવું, અને જે આગેવાન હોય તેણે સેવકના જેવા થવું.

But it should not be so with you! Whoever is highest among you should be like the lowest, and the leader should be like a servant.

27 ૨૭ કેમ કે આ બેમાં કયો મોટો છે, જમવા બેસનાર કે સેવા કરનાર? શું જમવા બેસનાર મોટો નથી? પણ હું તમારામાં સેવા કરનારનાં જેવો છું.

Who is greater—the one who sits at the table, or the one who serves? Isn't it the one who sits at the table? But I'm among you as the one who serves.

28 ૨૮ પણ મારી કપરી કસોટીઓમાં મારી સાથે રહેનાર તમે થયા છો.

You have stayed with me throughout my trials.

29 ૨૯ જેમ મારા પિતાએ મને રાજ્ય ઠરાવી આપ્યું, તેમ હું તમને રાજ્ય ઠરાવી આપું છું;

And I grant to you authority to rule, just as my Father granted it to me,

30 ૩૦ કે તમે મારા રાજ્યમાં મારી મેજ પર ખાઓ અને પીઓ; અને તમે ઇઝરાયલનાં બાર કુળોનો ન્યાય કરતાં રાજ્યાસનો પર બિરાજો.’”

so that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.”

31 ૩૧ ‘સિમોન, સિમોન, જો, શેતાને તમને ઘઉંની પેઠે ચાળવા સારુ કબજે લેવા માગ્યા.

“Simon, Simon—Satan has asked to have all of you to sift like wheat,

32 ૩૨ પણ મેં તારે સારુ પ્રાર્થના કરી કે, તારો વિશ્વાસ ખૂટે નહિ; અને તું તારા ફર્યા પછી તારા ભાઈઓને સ્થિર કરજે.’”

but I have prayed for you that your trust in me may not fail. And when you have returned, encourage your brothers.”

33 ૩૩ તેણે તેમને કહ્યું કે, ‘પ્રભુ, હું તમારી સાથે જેલમાં જવા તથા મરવા પણ તૈયાર છું.’”

Peter said, “Lord, I'm ready to go with you to prison, and to die with you!”

34 ૩૪ પણ ઈસુએ કહ્યું કે, ‘પિતર, હું તને કહું છું કે, આજે મરઘો બોલ્યા અગાઉ, હું તને ઓળખતો નથી, એમ કહીને તું ત્રણ વાર મારો નકાર કરશે.’”

Jesus replied, “I'm telling you, Peter, before the cock crows today, you will deny three times that you know me.”

35 ૩૫ પછી તેમણે તેઓને પૂછ્યું કે, ‘જયારે થેલી, ઝોળી તથા પગરખાં વિના મેં તમને મોકલ્યા ત્યારે તમને કશાની ખોટ પડી?’ તેઓએ કહ્યું કે, ‘કશાની નહિ.’”

Jesus asked them, “When I sent you out without money, without a bag, and without an extra pair of sandals, did you lack anything?” “No, nothing,” they replied.

36 ૩૬ ત્યારે તેમણે તેઓને કહ્યું, ‘પણ હમણાં જેની પાસે નાણાં હોય તે રાખે, થેલી પણ રાખે, અને જેની પાસે તલવાર ના હોય તે પોતાનું વસ્ત્ર વેચીને તલવાર ખરીદી રાખે.

“But now, if you have money you should take it, as well as a bag, and if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one.

37 ૩૭ કેમ કે હું તમને કહું છું કે, ‘તે અપરાધીઓની સાથે ગણાયો’, એવું જે લખેલું છે તે મારા સંદર્ભે હજી પૂરું થવું જોઈએ; કારણ કે મારા સંબંધીની વાતો પૂરી થાય છે.’”

I tell you that this statement in Scripture about me must be fulfilled: ‘He was counted with the wicked.’ What was said about me is now being fulfilled.”

38 ૩૮ તેઓએ કહ્યું કે, ‘પ્રભુ, જો બે તલવાર આ રહી;’ તેણે તેઓને કહ્યું કે, ‘એ બસ છે.’”

“Look, Lord, here are two swords,” they said. “That's enough,” he replied.

39 ૩૯ બહાર નીકળીને પોતાની રીત પ્રમાણે ઈસુ જૈતૂન પહાડ પર ગયા; શિષ્યો પણ તેમની પાછળ ગયા.

Jesus left and as usual went to the Mount of Olives together with his disciples.

40 ૪૦ ઈસુ તે જગ્યાએ આવ્યા, ત્યારે તેમણે તેઓને કહ્યું કે, ‘પ્રાર્થના કરો કે તમે પરીક્ષણમાં ન પડો.’”

When he arrived he said to them, “Pray that you don't give in to temptation.”

41 ૪૧ આશરે પથ્થર ફેંકાય તેટલે દૂર તે તેઓથી ગયા, અને ઘૂંટણ ટેકવીને તેમણે પ્રાર્થના કરતાં કહ્યું કે,

Then he left them and walked about a stone's throw away, where he kneeled down and prayed.

42 ૪૨ ‘હે પિતા, જો તમારી ઇચ્છા હોય, તો આ પ્યાલો મારાથી દૂર કરો, તોપણ મારી ઇચ્છા પ્રમાણે નહિ, પણ તમારી ઇચ્છા પ્રમાણે થાઓ.’”

“Father,” he prayed, “if you're willing, please take away this cup of suffering from me. But I want to do what you want, not what I want.”

43 ૪૩ આકાશમાંથી ઈસુને બળ આપતો એક સ્વર્ગદૂત તેમને દેખાયો.

Then an angel appeared from heaven to strengthen him.

44 ૪૪ તેમણે વેદના સાથે વિશેષ આગ્રહથી પ્રાર્થના કરી, અને તેમનો પરસેવો જમીન પર પડતાં લોહીનાં ટીપાં જેવો થયો.

In great distress Jesus prayed even harder, and his sweat fell like drops of blood onto the ground.

45 ૪૫ પ્રાર્થના કરીને ઊઠયા પછી ઈસુ પોતાના શિષ્યોની પાસે પાછા આવ્યા, ત્યારે તેઓને દુઃખને લીધે નિદ્રાવશ થયેલા જોયા,

He finished praying, stood up, and went over to the disciples. He found them asleep, worn out by grief.

46 ૪૬ ઈસુએ તેઓને કહ્યું કે, ‘કેમ ઊંઘો છો? ઊઠીને પ્રાર્થના કરો, કે તમે પરીક્ષણમાં ન પડો.’”

“Why are you sleeping?” he asked them. “Get up and pray so that you won't fall into temptation.”

47 ૪૭ તે હજી બોલતા હતા એટલામાં, જુઓ, ઘણાં લોકો આવ્યા, યહૂદા નામે બાર શિષ્યોમાંનો એક તેઓની આગળ ચાલતો હતો; તે ઈસુને ચુંબન કરવા સારુ તેમની પાસે આવ્યો.

While he was still speaking, a crowd appeared led by Judas, one of the twelve disciples. Judas went up to Jesus to kiss him.

48 ૪૮ પણ ઈસુએ તેને કહ્યું, ‘શું તું માણસના દીકરાને ચુંબન કરીને પરાધીન કરે છે?’”

But Jesus asked him, “Judas, are you betraying the Son of man with a kiss?”

49 ૪૯ જેઓ તેમની આસપાસ હતા તેઓએ શું થવાનું છે તે જોઈને તેમને પૂછ્યું, ‘પ્રભુ, અમે તલવાર મારીએ શું?’”

Jesus' followers asked him, “Lord, should we attack them with our swords?”

50 ૫૦ તેઓમાંનાં એકે પ્રમુખ યાજકના ચાકરને તલવારનો ઝટકો માર્યો, અને તેનો જમણો કાન કાપી નાખ્યો.

And one of them struck the high priest's servant, cutting off his right ear.

51 ૫૧ પણ ઈસુએ કહ્યું કે, ‘હવે બસ કરો’. અને તેમણે ચાકરનાં કાનને સ્પર્શીને સાજો કર્યો.

“Stop! No more of this!” said Jesus. He touched the man's ear and healed him.

52 ૫૨ જે મુખ્ય યાજકો તથા ભક્તિસ્થાનના સરદારો તથા વડીલો તેમની સામે આવ્યા હતા, તેઓને ઈસુએ કહ્યું, ‘જેમ લૂંટારાની સામે આવતા હો તેમ તલવારો તથા લાકડીઓ લઈને કેમ આવ્યા છો?

Then Jesus spoke to the chief priests, and the officers of the Temple guard, and the elders. “Am I some kind of criminal that you had to come with swords and clubs?” he asked.

53 ૫૩ હું રોજ તમારી સાથે ભક્તિસ્થાનમાં બોધ કરતો હતો, ત્યારે તમે મને પકડ્યો નહિ; પણ હાલ તમારો અને અંધકારનાં અધિકારનો સમય છે.’”

“You didn't arrest me before, even though I was with you in the Temple every day. But this is your moment now, the time when darkness is in power.”

54 ૫૪ તેઓ ઈસુની ધરપકડ કરીને લઈ ગયા. પ્રમુખ યાજકના ઘરમાં તેમને લાવ્યા. પણ પિતર દૂર રહીને તેમની પાછળ ચાલતો હતો.

They arrested him and led him away, taking him to the chief priest's house. Peter followed at a distance.

55 ૫૫ ચોકની વચમાં તાપણું સળગાવીને તેઓ તાપવા બેઠા ત્યારે પિતર તેઓની સાથે બેઠો હતો.

They started a fire in the middle of the courtyard and sat down by it. Peter was there among them.

56 ૫૬ એક દાસીએ તેને અગ્નિના પ્રકાશમાં બેઠેલો જોઈને તેની તરફ સતત જોઈ રહીને કહ્યું કે, ‘આ માણસ પણ તેમની સાથે હતો.’”

As he sat there, a servant girl noticed him in the firelight, and stared directly at him and said,

57 ૫૭ પણ પિતરે ઇનકાર કરીને કહ્યું કે, ‘બહેન, હું તેમને ઓળખતો નથી.’”

“This man was with him.” But Peter denied it. “Woman, I don't know him!” he said.

58 ૫૮ થોડીવાર પછી બીજાએ તેને જોઈને કહ્યું કે, “તું પણ તેઓમાંનો છે.” પણ પિતરે કહ્યું, “અરે, ભાઈ, હું એમાંનો નથી.”

A little later someone else looked at him and said, “You're also one of them.” “No, I'm not!” Peter replied.

59 ૫૯ આશરે એક કલાક પછી બીજાએ ખાતરીથી કહ્યું કે, “ખરેખર આ માણસ પણ તેમની સાથે હતો, કેમ કે તે ગાલીલનો છે.”

About an hour later, another person insisted, “I'm sure he was with him too—he's a Galilean.”

60 ૬૦ પણ પિતરે કહ્યું, “અરે ભાઈ, તું શું કહે છે તે હું જાણતો નથી.” અને તરત, તે બોલતો હતો એટલામાં મરઘો બોલ્યો.

“I've no idea what you're talking about!” Peter replied. Right then, while he was still speaking, the cock crowed. The Lord turned and looked at Peter.

61 ૬૧ પ્રભુએ ફરીને પિતરની સામે જોયું. અને પિતરને પ્રભુનું વચન યાદ આવ્યું કે, “ઈસુએ તેને કહ્યું હતું કે, આજ મરઘો બોલ્યા અગાઉ તું ત્રણ વાર મારો નકાર કરશે.”

And Peter remembered what the Lord had said, how he'd told him: “Before the cock crows today, you'll deny me three times.”

62 ૬૨ તે બહાર જઈને બહુ જ રડ્યો.

Peter went out and wept bitterly.

63 ૬૩ ઈસુ જે માણસોના હવાલે હતા તેઓએ તેમની ઠેકડી ઉડાવી અને તેમને માર માર્યો.

The men guarding Jesus began to mock him and beat him.

64 ૬૪ તેઓએ તેમની આંખોએ પાટો બાંધીને તેને પૂછ્યું કે ‘કહી બતાવ, તને કોણે માર્યું?’”

They put a blindfold on him, and then asked him, “If you can prophesy, tell us who hit you that time!”

65 ૬૫ તેઓએ દુર્ભાષણ કરીને તેમની વિરુદ્ધ બીજું ઘણું કહ્યું.

and shouted many other insults at him.

66 ૬૬ દિવસ ઊગતાં જ લોકોના વડીલોની સભા, મુખ્ય યાજકો તથા શાસ્ત્રીઓ ભેગા થયા; અને તેમને પોતાની ન્યાયસભામાં લઈ જઈને તેઓએ કહ્યું કે,

Early in the morning the council of elders gathered together with the chief priests and religious teachers. Jesus was led before the council.

67 ૬૭ “જો તમે ખ્રિસ્ત હો, તો અમને કહો.” પણ ઈસુએ તેઓને કહ્યું કે, “જો હું તમને કહું, તો તમે વિશ્વાસ કરવાના નથી

“If you really are the Messiah, then tell us,” they said. “Even if I were to tell you, you wouldn't believe me,” Jesus replied.

68 ૬૮ વળી જો હું પૂછીશ તો તમે મને જવાબ આપવાના નથી.

“And if I were to ask you a question, you wouldn't answer.

69 ૬૯ પણ હવે પછી માણસનો દીકરો ઈશ્વરના પરાક્રમને જમણે હાથે બિરાજશે.”

But from now on the Son of man will sit at the right hand of the mighty God.”

70 ૭૦ લોકોએ કહ્યું, “તો શું, તમે ઈશ્વરના દીકરા છો?” તેમણે તેઓને કહ્યું કે, “તમે કહો છો તે મુજબ હું તે છું.”

They all asked, “So are you the son of God?” “You say that I am,” Jesus replied.

71 ૭૧ અને તેઓએ કહ્યું કે, “હવે આપણને પુરાવાની શી જરૂર છે? કેમ કે આપણે પોતે તેમના મુખથી જ સાંભળ્યું છે.”

“Why do we need any more witnesses?” they said. “We've heard it ourselves from his own mouth!”

Jesus is Mocked
