એઝરા 5

1 ૧ પછી યહૂદિયા તથા યરુશાલેમમાં જે યહૂદીઓ હતા તેઓને, હાગ્ગાય તથા ઇદ્દોના પુત્ર ઝખાર્યા પ્રબોધકોએ, ઇઝરાયલના પ્રભુ ઈશ્વરના નામે પ્રબોધ કર્યો.

Now the prophets, Haggai the prophet, and Zechariah the son of Iddo, prophesied to the Jews who were in Judah and Jerusalem; in the name of the God of Israel they prophesied to them.

2 ૨ શાલ્તીએલના દીકરા ઝરુબ્બાબેલે તથા યોસાદાકના દીકરા યેશૂઆએ, પ્રબોધકો કે જેઓએ તેમને ઉત્તેજન આપ્યું, તેઓની સાથે, યરુશાલેમમાં ઈશ્વરનું ભક્તિસ્થાન બાંધવાનું શરૂ કરી દીધું.

Then rose up Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and began to build God's house which is at Jerusalem; and with them were the prophets of God, helping them.

3 ૩ ત્યારે નદી પારના રાજ્યપાલ તાત્તનાય, શથાર-બોઝનાય તથા તેઓના સાથીદારોએ આવી તેમને કહ્યું, “આ ભક્તિસ્થાન ફરીથી બાંધવાની અને આ દિવાલોને પૂરી કરવાની પરવાનગી તમને કોણે આપી છે?”

At the same time came to them Tattenai, the governor beyond the River, and Shetharbozenai, and their companions, and said thus to them, "Who gave you a decree to build this house, and to finish this wall?"

4 ૪ વળી તેઓએ કહ્યું, “જે માણસો આ ભક્તિસ્થાન બાંધે છે તેઓનાં નામ આપો”

Then they asked them, "What are the names of the men who are constructing this building?

5 ૫ પણ ઈશ્વરની કૃપાદ્રષ્ટિ યહૂદીઓના વડીલો પર હતી તેથી તેઓ અટક્યા નહિ. તેઓ દાર્યાવેશ રાજા તરફથી અધિકૃત ફરમાનની રાહ જોતા હતા.

But the eye of their God was on the elders of the Jews, and they did not make them cease, until the matter should come to Daryavesh, and then answer should be returned by letter concerning it.

6 ૬ તાત્તનાય રાજ્યપાલ, શથાર-બોઝનાય તથા બીજા તેઓના સાથી અધિકારીઓએ દાર્યાવેશ રાજા પર પત્ર મોકલ્યો:

The copy of the letter that Tattenai, the governor beyond the River, and Shetharbozenai, and his companions the Apharsachites, who were beyond the River, sent to Daryavesh the king;

7 ૭ તેમાં તેઓએ આ પ્રમાણે દાર્યાવેશ રાજાને અહેવાલ લખી મોકલ્યો કે: “તમને શાંતિ હો.

they sent a letter to him, in which was written thus: To Daryavesh the king, all peace.

8 ૮ આપને જાણ થાય કે અમે યહૂદિયા પ્રાંતના મહાન ઈશ્વરના ભક્તિસ્થાનમાં ગયા હતા. તે મોટા પથ્થરોથી તથા ઈમારતી લાકડાથી બંધાઈ રહ્યું હતું. આ કાર્ય ખંતથી કરાઈ રહ્યું છે અને તેઓને હાથે સફળતાપૂર્વક આગળ ધપી રહ્યું છે.

Be it known to the king, that we went into the province of Judah, to the house of the great God, which is built with great stones, and timber is laid in the walls; and this work goes on with diligence and prospers in their hands.

9 ૯ અમે વડીલોને પૂછ્યું, ‘આ ભક્તિસ્થાન બાંધવાની તથા આ કોટ પૂરો કરવાની પરવાનગી તમને કોણે આપી છે?’

Then we asked those elders, and said to them thus, "Who gave you a decree to build this house, and to finish this wall?"

10 ૧૦ વળી અમે તેઓના નામ પણ પૂછયાં, જેથી તમે જાણી શકો કે, કોણ તેઓને આગેવાની આપે છે.

We asked them their names also, to inform you that we might write the names of the men who were at their head.

11 ૧૧ તેઓએ ઉત્તર આપ્યો કે, ‘અમે એક, એટલે જે આકાશ તથા પૃથ્વીના ઈશ્વર છે, તેમના સેવકો છીએ, અને ઘણાં વર્ષો અગાઉ ઇઝરાયલના એક મહાન રાજાએ બંધાવેલ સભાસ્થાનને જ અમે ફરીથી બાંધી રહ્યાં છીએ.

Thus they returned us answer, saying, "We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth, and are building the house that was built these many years ago, which a great king of Israel built and finished.

12 ૧૨ જો કે, જયારે અમારા પૂર્વજોએ આકાશના ઈશ્વરને કોપાયમાન કર્યા, ત્યારે તેમણે બાબિલના રાજા નબૂખાદનેસ્સારના હાથમાં તેઓને સોંપ્યાં, કે જે આ સભાસ્થાનનો નાશ કરીને લોકોને બાબિલના બંદીવાસમાં લઈ ગયો.

But after that our fathers had provoked the God of heaven to wrath, he gave them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, the Chaldean, who destroyed this house, and carried the people away into Babylon.

13 ૧૩ તેમ છતાં, બાબિલના રાજા કોરેશે પોતાના રાજ્યના પહેલા વર્ષમાં, ઈશ્વરના એ સભાસ્થાનને પુનઃ બાંધવાનું અમને અધિકૃત ફરમાન કર્યું.

But in the first year of Koresh king of Babylon, Koresh the king made a decree to build this house of God.

14 ૧૪ ઈશ્વરના સભાસ્થાનની સોનાચાંદીની વસ્તુઓ, જે નબૂખાદનેસ્સાર યરુશાલેમના ભક્તિસ્થાનમાંથી બાબિલના મંદિરમાં લઈ ગયો હતો, તે બધી વસ્તુઓ બાબિલના મંદિરમાંથી પાછી લઈને કોરેશ રાજાએ શેશ્બાસારને, કે જેને તેણે રાજ્યપાલ બનાવ્યો હતો, તેને સોંપી.

The gold and silver vessels also of God's house, which Nebuchadnezzar took out of the temple that was in Jerusalem, and brought into the temple of Babylon, those Koresh the king took out of the temple of Babylon, and they were delivered to one whose name was Sheshbazzar, whom he had made governor;

15 ૧૫ તેણે તેને કહ્યું, “આ સર્વ વસ્તુઓ લઈને યરુશાલેમના ભક્તિસ્થાનમાં પાછી મૂક. ઈશ્વરના સભાસ્થાનને તેની મૂળ જગ્યાએ ફરીથી બંધાવ.

and he said to him, 'Take these vessels, go, put them in the temple that is in Jerusalem, and let God's house be built in its place.'

16 ૧૬ પછી શેશ્બાસારે આવીને ઈશ્વરના એ સભાસ્થાનનો પાયો યરુશાલેમમાં નાખ્યો; અને ત્યારથી તેનું બાંધકામ ચાલુ છે, પણ તે હજી પૂરું થયું નથી.’”

Then the same Sheshbazzar came, and laid the foundations of God's house which is in Jerusalem: and since that time even until now has it been in building, and yet it is not completed.

17 ૧૭ હવે એ આપની દ્રષ્ટિમાં યોગ્ય લાગે તો, કોરેશ રાજાએ યરુશાલેમમાં ઈશ્વરનું આ ભક્તિસ્થાન બાંધવાનો હુકમ કર્યો હતો કે નહિ, તેની તપાસ આપના બાબિલમાંના ભંડારમાં કરાવશો અને તે બાબતે આપની ઇચ્છા પ્રમાણે હુકમ ફરમાવશો.”

Now therefore, if it seem good to the king, let a search be made in the king's treasure house, which is there at Babylon, whether it be so, that a decree was made of Koresh the king to build this house of God at Jerusalem; and let the king send his pleasure to us concerning this matter."
