1 શમુએલ 7

1 ૧ કિર્યાથ-યારીમના માણસો આવ્યા, તેઓ ઈશ્વરનો કોશ લઈ, પર્વત ઉપર અબીનાદાબના ઘરમાં લાવ્યા, તેઓએ તેના દીકરા એલાઝારને ઈશ્વરના કોશની સંભાળ રાખવાને અભિષિક્ત કર્યો.

The men of Kiriath Jearim came and took Yahweh’s ark, and brought it into Abinadab’s house on the hill, and consecrated Eleazar his son to keep Yahweh’s ark.

2 ૨ જે દિવસથી કોશ કિર્યાથ-યારીમમાં રહ્યો, ત્યાર પછી લાંબો સમય વીતી ગયો એટલે કે વીસ વર્ષ થઈ ગયાં. ઇઝરાયલના ઘરોનાં સઘળાંએ વિલાપ કર્યો અને ઈશ્વર તરફ પાછા ફરવાની ઇચ્છા રાખી.

From the day that the ark stayed in Kiriath Jearim, the time was long—for it was twenty years; and all the house of Israel lamented after Yahweh.

3 ૩ ત્યારે શમુએલે ઇઝરાયલના સર્વ લોકોને કહ્યું કે, “જો તમે પોતાના પૂરા હૃદયથી ઈશ્વરની તરફ ફરતા હો, તો તમારા મધ્યેથી અન્ય દેવો તથા આશ્તારોથને દૂર કરો, તમારાં અંતઃકરણો ઈશ્વરની પ્રત્યે લગાડો, કેવળ તેમની સ્તુતિ કરો, એટલે તે તમને પલિસ્તીઓના હાથમાંથી છોડાવશે.”

Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, “If you are returning to Yahweh with all your heart, then put away the foreign gods and the Ashtaroth from among you, and direct your hearts to Yahweh, and serve him only; and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.”

4 ૪ ત્યારે ઇઝરાયલના લોકોએ બઆલિમ તથા આશ્તારોથને દૂર કરીને કેવળ ઈશ્વરની સ્તુતિ શરૂ કરી.

Then the children of Israel removed the Baals and the Ashtaroth, and served Yahweh only.

5 ૫ પછી શમુએલે કહ્યું, સર્વ ઇઝરાયલીઓને મિસ્પામાં એકઠા કરો. હું તમારે સારુ ઈશ્વરને પ્રાર્થના કરીશ.”

Samuel said, “Gather all Israel to Mizpah, and I will pray to Yahweh for you.”

6 ૬ તેઓ મિસ્પામાં એકઠા થયા, તેઓએ પાણી કાઢીને ઈશ્વર આગળ રેડ્યું. તે દિવસે તેઓએ ઉપવાસ કર્યો અને કહ્યું, “અમે ઈશ્વર વિરુદ્ધ પાપ કર્યું છે.” શમુએલે ત્યાં ઇઝરાયલના લોકોની તકરારનો ન્યાય કર્યો અને આગેવાની આપી.

They gathered together to Mizpah, and drew water, and poured it out before Yahweh, and fasted on that day, and said there, “We have sinned against Yahweh.” Samuel judged the children of Israel in Mizpah.

7 ૭ પલિસ્તીઓએ સાંભળ્યું કે ઇઝરાયલના લોકો મિસ્પામાં એકઠા થયા છે, ત્યારે પલિસ્તીઓના અધિકારીઓએ ઇઝરાયલ ઉપર હુમલો કર્યો. જયારે ઇઝરાયલના લોકોએ તે સાંભળ્યું, ત્યારે તેઓ પલિસ્તીઓથી ભયભીત થયા.

When the Philistines heard that the children of Israel were gathered together at Mizpah, the lords of the Philistines went up against Israel. When the children of Israel heard it, they were afraid of the Philistines.

8 ૮ ત્યારે ઇઝરાયલના લોકોએ શમુએલને કહ્યું, “આપણા ઈશ્વર આગળ અમારે સારુ વિનંતી કરવાનું પડતું ન મૂક, કે જેથી ઈશ્વર અમને પલિસ્તીઓના હાથમાંથી બચાવે.”

The children of Israel said to Samuel, “Don’t stop crying to Yahweh our God for us, that he will save us out of the hand of the Philistines.”

9 ૯ શમુએલે ધાવણું હલવાન લઈને તેનું સંપૂર્ણ દહનીયાર્પણ ઈશ્વરને કર્યું અને તેણે ઇઝરાયલને સારુ ઈશ્વરની આગળ પોકાર કર્યો અને ઈશ્વરે તેને ઉત્તર આપ્યો.

Samuel took a suckling lamb, and offered it for a whole burnt offering to Yahweh. Samuel cried to Yahweh for Israel, and Yahweh answered him.

10 ૧૦ જે વખતે શમુએલ દહનીયાર્પણ કરતો હતો, એટલામાં પલિસ્તીઓ ઇઝરાયલ સામે લડાઈ કરવાને પાસે આવ્યા; પણ તે દિવસે ઈશ્વરે પલિસ્તીઓ ઉપર મોટા અવાજ સાથે ગર્જના કરી અને તેઓને ગભરાવી દીધા, તેઓને ઇઝરાયલીઓ આગળથી હાંકી કાઢ્યાં.

As Samuel was offering up the burnt offering, the Philistines came near to battle against Israel; but Yahweh thundered with a great thunder on that day on the Philistines and confused them; and they were struck down before Israel.

11 ૧૧ ઇઝરાયલના માણસો મિસ્પામાંથી નીકળ્યા, તેઓએ પલિસ્તીઓની પાછળ લાગીને બેથ-કારની તળેટીએ પહોંચતાં સુધી તેઓને માર્યા.

The men of Israel went out of Mizpah and pursued the Philistines, and struck them until they came under Beth Kar.

12 ૧૨ ત્યારે શમુએલે એક પથ્થર લઈને મિસ્પા તથા શેનની વચ્ચે ઊભો કર્યો. તેનું નામ એબેન-એઝેર પાડીને, કહ્યું, “અત્યાર સુધી ઈશ્વરે આપણી સહાય કરી છે.”

Then Samuel took a stone and set it between Mizpah and Shen, and called its name Ebenezer, saying, “Yahweh helped us until now.”

13 ૧૩ આ રીતે પલિસ્તીઓ પરાજીત થયા, તેઓ ફરીથી ઇઝરાયલની હદમાં આવ્યા નહિ. શમુએલના સર્વ દિવસોમાં ઈશ્વરનો હાથ પલિસ્તીઓ વિરુદ્ધ હતો.

So the Philistines were subdued, and they stopped coming within the border of Israel. Yahweh’s hand was against the Philistines all the days of Samuel.

14 ૧૪ જે નગરો પલિસ્તીઓએ ઇઝરાયલ પાસેથી લીધાં હતાં, ઇઝરાયલના હાથમાં પાછાં આવ્યાં, એક્રોનથી છેક ગાથ સુધી તેઓની હદ ઇઝરાયલે પલિસ્તીઓના હાથમાંથી લઈ લીધી. અને ત્યાં ઇઝરાયલીઓ તથા અમોરીઓ વચ્ચે મન-મેળ હતો.

The cities which the Philistines had taken from Israel were restored to Israel, from Ekron even to Gath; and Israel recovered its border out of the hand of the Philistines. There was peace between Israel and the Amorites.

15 ૧૫ શમુએલે પોતાના આયુષ્યનાં સર્વ દિવસભર ઇઝરાયલનો ન્યાય કર્યો.

Samuel judged Israel all the days of his life.

16 ૧૬ દર વર્ષે તે બેથેલ, ગિલ્ગાલ, મિસ્પામાં જતો હતો; એ બધે સ્થળે તે ઇઝરાયલીઓની તકરારનો ન્યાય કરતો હતો.

He went from year to year in a circuit to Bethel, Gilgal, and Mizpah; and he judged Israel in all those places.

17 ૧૭ પછી રામામાં પાછો આવતો હતો, કેમ કે ત્યાં તેનું ઘર હતું; ત્યાં પણ તે ઇઝરાયલીઓની તકરારનો ન્યાય કરતો હતો. ત્યાં પણ તેણે ઈશ્વરને સારુ વેદી બાંધી.

His return was to Ramah, for his house was there, and he judged Israel there; and he built an altar to Yahweh there.
