Κατα Λουκαν 16
1 Έλεγε δε και προς τους μαθητάς αυτού· Ήτο άνθρωπός τις πλούσιος, όστις είχεν οικονόμον, και ούτος κατηγορήθη προς αυτόν ως διασκορπίζων τα υπάρχοντα αυτού.
And he spoke a parable to his disciples. There was a certain rich man, who had a steward; and accusations were brought to him of him, that he squandered his property.
2 Και κράξας αυτόν, είπε προς αυτόν· Τι είναι τούτο το οποίον ακούω περί σου; δος τον λογαριασμόν της οικονομίας σου· διότι δεν θέλεις δυνηθή πλέον να ήσαι οικονόμος.
And his lord called him, and said to him: What is this that I hear of thee? Render to me an account of thy stewardship; for thou canst no longer be my steward.
3 Είπε δε καθ' εαυτόν ο οικονόμος· Τι να κάμω, επειδή ο κύριός μου αφαιρεί απ' εμού την οικονομίαν; να σκάπτω δεν δύναμαι, να ζητώ εντρέπομαι·
And the steward said with himself: What shall I do, since my lord is about to take from me the stewardship? To dig, I am unable; and to become a beggar, I am ashamed.
4 ενόησα τι πρέπει να κάμω, διά να με δεχθώσιν εις τους οίκους αυτών, όταν αποβληθώ της οικονομίας.
I know what to do, that, when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me to their houses.
5 Και προσκαλέσας ένα έκαστον των χρεωφειλετών του κυρίου αυτού, είπε προς τον πρώτον· Πόσον χρεωστείς εις τον κύριόν μου;
And he called each one of his lord's debtors; and he said to the first, How much owest thou to my lord?
6 Ο δε είπεν· Εκατόν μέτρα ελαίου. Και είπε προς αυτόν· Λάβε το έγγραφόν σου και καθήσας ταχέως γράψον πεντήκοντα.
And he said to him, One hundred measures of oil. And he said to him: Take thy bill, and sit down quickly, and write Fifty measures.
7 Έπειτα είπε προς άλλον· Συ δε πόσον χρεωστείς; Ο δε είπεν· Εκατόν μόδια σίτου. Και λέγει προς αυτόν· Λάβε το έγγραφόν σου και γράψον ογδοήκοντα.
And he said to another: And how much owest thou to my lord? And he said to him, One hundred cors of wheat. And he said to him: Take thy bill, and sit down, and write Eighty cors.
8 Και επήνεσεν ο κύριος τον άδικον οικονόμον, ότι φρονίμως έπραξε· διότι οι υιοί του αιώνος τούτου είναι φρονιμώτεροι εις την εαυτών γενεάν παρά τους υιούς του φωτός. (aiōn g165)
And our Lord praised the unrighteous steward, for having acted sagaciously: for the children of this world are more sagacious than the children of light, in this their generation. (aiōn g165)
9 Και εγώ σας λέγω· Κάμετε εις εαυτούς φίλους εκ του μαμωνά της αδικίας, διά να σας δεχθώσιν εις τας αιωνίους σκηνάς, όταν εκλείψητε. (aiōnios g166)
And I also say to you: Make to yourselves friends, with this unrighteous mammon; so that when it is finished, they may receive you to their everlasting tabernacles. (aiōnios g166)
10 Ο εν τω ελαχίστω πιστός και εν τω πολλώ πιστός είναι, και ο εν τω ελαχίστω άδικος και εν τω πολλώ άδικος είναι.
He that is faithful in the little, is also faithful in the much; and he that is unjust in the little, is also unjust in the much.
11 Εάν λοιπόν εις τον άδικον μαμωνά δεν εφάνητε πιστοί, τον αληθινόν πλούτον τις θέλει σας εμπιστευθή;
If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will intrust to you the reality?
12 Και εάν εις το ξένον δεν εφάνητε πιστοί, τις θέλει σας δώσει το ιδικόν σας;
And if ye have not been found faithful in that which is not yours, who will give to you that which is yours?
13 Ουδείς δούλος δύναται να δουλεύη δύο κυρίους διότι ή τον ένα θέλει μισήσει και τον άλλον θέλει αγαπήσει· ή εις τον ένα θέλει προσκολληθή και τον άλλον θέλει καταφρονήσει. Δεν δύνασθε να δουλεύητε Θεόν και μαμωνά.
There is no servant, who can serve two lords. For, either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will honor the one and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
14 Ήκουον δε ταύτα πάντα και οι Φαρισαίοι, φιλάργυροι όντες, και περιεγέλων αυτόν.
And the Pharisees, when they heard all these things, because they loved money, derided him.
15 Και είπε προς αυτούς· Σεις είσθε οι δικαιόνοντες εαυτούς ενώπιον των ανθρώπων, ο Θεός όμως γνωρίζει τας καρδίας σας· διότι εκείνο, το οποίον μεταξύ των ανθρώπων είναι υψηλόν, βδέλυγμα είναι ενώπιον του Θεού.
And Jesus said to them: Ye are such as justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your heart: for that which is exalted among men, is abominable before God.
16 Ο νόμος και οι προφήται έως Ιωάννου υπήρχον· από τότε η βασιλεία του Θεού ευαγγελίζεται, και πας τις βιάζεται να εισέλθη εις αυτήν.
The law and the prophets were until John: since then, the kingdom of God is proclaimed, and every one presseth it to enter in.
17 Ευκολώτερον δε είναι ο ουρανός και η γη να παρέλθωσι παρά μία κεραία του νόμου να πέση.
And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away, than for one letter to pass from the law.
18 Πας όστις χωρίζεται την γυναίκα αυτού και νυμφεύεται άλλην, μοιχεύει, και πας όστις νυμφεύεται κεχωρισμένην από ανδρός, μοιχεύει.
Whoever putteth away his wife, and taketh another, committeth adultery; and whoever taketh her that is put away, committeth adultery.
19 Ήτο δε άνθρωπός τις πλούσιος και ενεδύετο πορφύραν και στολήν βυσσίνην, ευφραινόμενος καθ' ημέραν μεγαλοπρεπώς.
And there was a certain rich man, who was clothed in fine linen and scarlet, and passed every day in splendid luxury.
20 Ήτο δε πτωχός τις ονομαζόμενος Λάζαρος, όστις έκειτο πεπληγωμένος πλησίον της πύλης αυτού
And there was a certain poor man, whose name was Lazarus; and he was laid at the gate of the rich man, smitten with ulcers.
21 και επεθύμει να χορτασθή από των ψιχίων των πιπτόντων από της τραπέζης του πλουσίου· αλλά και οι κύνες ερχόμενοι έγλειφον τας πληγάς αυτού.
And he desired to fill his belly with the fragments that fell from the rich man's table: and the dogs also came and licked his ulcers.
22 Απέθανε δε ο πτωχός και εφέρθη υπό των αγγέλων εις τον κόλπον του Αβραάμ· απέθανε δε και ο πλούσιος και ετάφη.
And so it was, that the poor man died; and angels transported him to Abraham's bosom. The rich man also died, and was buried.
23 Και εν τω άδη υψώσας τους οφθαλμούς αυτού, ενώ ήτο εν βασάνοις, βλέπει τον Αβραάμ από μακρόθεν και τον Λάζαρον εν τοις κόλποις αυτού. (Hadēs g86)
And being tormented in hell, he raised his eyes from afar off, and saw Abraham, and Lazarus in his bosom. (Hadēs g86)
24 Και αυτός φωνάξας είπε· Πάτερ Αβραάμ, ελέησόν με και πέμψον τον Λάζαρον, διά να βάψη το άκρον του δακτύλου αυτού εις ύδωρ και να καταδροσίση την γλώσσαν μου, διότι βασανίζομαι εν τη φλογί ταύτη·
And he called with a loud voice, and said: Abraham, my father, have pity on me; and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and moisten my tongue; for, lo, I am tormented in this flame.
25 είπε δε ο Αβραάμ· Τέκνον, ενθυμήθητι ότι απέλαβες συ τα αγαθά σου εν τη ζωή σου, και ο Λάζαρος ομοίως τα κακά· τώρα ούτος μεν παρηγορείται, συ δε βασανίζεσαι·
And Abraham said to him: My son, remember, that thou receivedst thy good things in thy lifetime, and Lazarus his evil things: and now, behold he is here at rest, and thou art tormented.
26 και εκτός τούτων πάντων, μεταξύ ημών και υμών χάσμα μέγα είναι εστηριγμένον, ώστε οι θέλοντες να διαβώσιν εντεύθεν προς εσάς να μη δύνανται, μηδέ οι εκείθεν να διαπερώσι προς υμάς.
And with all these, there is a great barrier between us and you; so that they who would pass from here to you, cannot; neither can they pass from there to us
27 Είπε δέ· παρακαλώ σε λοιπόν, πάτερ, να πέμψης αυτόν εις τον οίκον του πατρός μου·
He said to him: I pray thee, therefore, my father, that thou wouldst send him to my father's house;
28 διότι έχω πέντε αδελφούς· διά να μαρτυρήση εις αυτούς, ώστε να μη έλθωσι και αυτοί εις τον τόπον τούτον της βασάνου.
for I have five brothers; that he may go and protest to them; lest they also come to this place of torment.
29 Λέγει προς αυτόν ο Αβραάμ, Έχουσι τον Μωϋσήν και τους προφήτας· ας ακούσωσιν αυτούς.
Abraham said to him: They have Moses and the prophets, let them hear them.
30 Ο δε είπεν· Ουχί, πάτερ Αβραάμ, αλλ' εάν τις από νεκρών υπάγη προς αυτούς, θέλουσι μετανοήσει.
But he said to him: No, my father Abraham: but if one shall go to them from the dead, they will repent.
31 Είπε δε προς αυτόν· Εάν τον Μωϋσήν και τους προφήτας δεν ακούωσιν, ουδέ εάν τις αναστηθή εκ νεκρών θέλουσι πεισθή.
Abraham said to him: If they hear not Moses and the prophets, they will not believe, though one should rise from the dead.
