Ἰησοῦς Nαυῆ 4

1 Και αφού πας ο λαός ετελείωσε διαβαίνων τον Ιορδάνην, είπε Κύριος προς τον Ιησούν, λέγων,

And it came to pass, when all the people had quite passed over Jordan, that the LORD spoke to Joshua, saying,

2 Λάβετε εις εαυτούς δώδεκα άνδρας εκ του λαού, ανά ένα άνδρα κατά φυλήν,

Take you twelve men from the people, from every tribe a man,

3 και πρόσταξον αυτούς, λέγων, Λάβετε εντεύθεν εκ μέσου του Ιορδάνου, εκ του τόπου όπου των ιερέων οι πόδες εστάθησαν στερεοί, δώδεκα λίθους· και θέλετε μετακομίσει αυτούς μεθ' εαυτών, και θέλετε θέσει αυτούς εν τω τόπω όπου στρατοπεδεύσητε ταύτην την νύκτα.

And command ye them, saying, Take you hence out of the midst of Jordan, from the place where the priests' feet stood firm, twelve stones, and ye shall carry them over with you, and leave them in the lodging-place where ye shall lodge this night.

4 Τότε ο Ιησούς προσεκάλεσε τους δώδεκα άνδρας, τους οποίους είχε διορίσει εκ των υιών Ισραήλ, ανά ένα άνδρα κατά φυλήν·

Then Joshua called the twelve men, whom he had prepared of the children of Israel, of every tribe a man:

5 και είπε προς αυτούς ο Ιησούς, διάβητε έμπροσθεν της κιβωτού Κυρίου του Θεού σας εν τω μέσω του Ιορδάνου, και σηκώσατε έκαστος από σας ένα λίθον επί τους ώμους αυτού, κατά τον αριθμόν των φυλών των υιών Ισραήλ·

And Joshua said to them, Pass over before the ark of the LORD your God into the midst of Jordan, and take ye up every man of you a stone upon his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Israel:

6 διά να ήναι τούτο σημείον μεταξύ σας· ώστε όταν ερωτώσιν οι υιοί σας εις το μέλλον λέγοντες, Τι δηλούσιν εις εσάς οι λίθοι ούτοι;

That this may be a sign among you, [that] when your children ask [their fathers] in time to come, saying, What [mean] ye by these stones?

7 τότε θέλετε αποκριθή προς αυτούς, Ότι εκόπησαν τα ύδατα του Ιορδάνου απ' έμπροσθεν της κιβωτού της διαθήκης του Κυρίου· ότε διέβαινε τον Ιορδάνην, τα ύδατα του Ιορδάνου εκόπησαν· και οι λίθοι ούτοι θέλουσιν είσθαι προς τους υιούς Ισραήλ εις μνημόσυνον έως αιώνος.

Then ye shall answer them, That the waters of Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD; when it passed over Jordan, the waters of Jordan were cut off: and these stones shall be for a memorial to the children of Israel for ever.

8 Και έκαμον ούτως οι υιοί Ισραήλ καθώς προσέταξεν ο Ιησούς, και έλαβον δώδεκα λίθους εκ μέσου του Ιορδάνου, καθώς είπε Κύριος προς τον Ιησούν, κατά τον αριθμόν των φυλών των υιών Ισραήλ, και μετεκόμισαν αυτούς μεθ' εαυτών εις τον τόπον όπου κατέλυσαν και έθεσαν αυτούς εκεί.

And the children of Israel did so as Joshua commanded, and took up twelve stones from the midst of Jordan, as the the LORD commanded Joshua, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Israel, and carried them over with them to the place where they lodged, and laid them down there.

9 Και άλλους δώδεκα λίθους έστησεν ο Ιησούς εν τω μέσω του Ιορδάνου, εν τω τόπω όπου εστάθησαν οι πόδες των ιερέων, των βασταζόντων την κιβωτόν της διαθήκης· και εκεί είναι μέχρι της σήμερον.

And Joshua set up twelve stones in the midst of Jordan, in the place where the feet of the priests who bore the ark of the covenant stood: and they are there to this day.

10 Οι δε ιερείς οι βαστάζοντες την κιβωτόν ίσταντο εν τω μέσω του Ιορδάνου, εωσού ετελέσθησαν πάντα όσα ο Κύριος προσέταξεν εις τον Ιησούν να είπη προς τον λαόν, κατά πάντα όσα ο Μωϋσής προσέταξεν εις τον Ιησούν· και έσπευσεν ο λαός και διέβη.

For the priests who bore the ark stood in the midst of Jordan, until every thing was finished that the LORD commanded Joshua to speak to the people, according to all that Moses commanded Joshua: and the people hasted and passed over.

11 Και αφού πας ο λαός ετελείωσε διαβαίνων, διέβη και η κιβωτός του Κυρίου και οι ιερείς έμπροσθεν του λαού.

And it came to pass, when all the people had quite passed over, that the ark of the LORD passed over, and the priests in the presence of the people.

12 Και οι υιοί Ρουβήν και οι υιοί Γαδ και το ήμισυ της φυλής Μανασσή διέβησαν ώπλισμένοι έμπροσθεν των υιών Ισραήλ, καθώς είπε προς αυτούς ο Μωϋσής.

And the children of Reuben, and the children of Gad, and half the tribe of Manasseh, passed over armed before the children of Israel, as Moses directed them:

13 Έως τεσσαράκοντα χιλιάδες ένοπλοι διέβησαν έμπροσθεν του Κυρίου εις πόλεμον, προς τας πεδιάδας της Ιεριχώ.

About forty thousand prepared for war passed over before the LORD to battle, to the plains of Jericho.

14 Εν εκείνη τη ημέρα εμεγάλυνεν ο Κύριος τον Ιησούν ενώπιον παντός του Ισραήλ, και εφοβούντο αυτόν, καθώς εφοβούντο τον Μωϋσήν, πάσας τας ημέρας της ζωής αυτού.

On that day the LORD magnified Joshua in the sight of all Israel, and they feared him, as they feared Moses, all the days of his life.

15 Και είπε Κύριος προς τον Ιησούν λέγων,

And the LORD spoke to Joshua, saying,

16 Πρόσταξον τους ιερείς τους βαστάζοντας την κιβωτόν του μαρτυρίου, να αναβώσιν εκ του Ιορδάνου.

Command the priests that bear the ark of the testimony, that they come up out of Jordan.

17 Και προσέταξεν ο Ιησούς τους ιερείς λέγων, Ανάβητε εκ του Ιορδάνου.

Joshua therefore commanded the priests, saying, Come ye up out of Jordan.

18 Και αφού οι ιερείς οι βαστάζοντες την κιβωτόν της διαθήκης του Κυρίου ανέβησαν εκ μέσου του Ιορδάνου, και τα ίχνη των ποδών των ιερέων επάτησαν επί της ξηράς, τα ύδατα του Ιορδάνου επιστρέψαντα εις τον τόπον αυτών επλημμύρησαν πάσας τας όχθας αυτού, καθώς πρότερον.

And it came to pass, when the priests that bore the ark of the covenant of the LORD had come up out of the midst of Jordan, [and] the soles of the priests' feet were lifted up upon the dry land, that the waters of Jordan returned to their place, and flowed over all its banks, as [they did] before.

19 Και ανέβη ο λαός εκ του Ιορδάνου την δεκάτην του πρώτου μηνός και εστρατοπέδευσαν εν Γαλγάλοις προς το ανατολικόν μέρος της Ιεριχώ.

And the people came up out of Jordan on the tenth [day] of the first month, and encamped in Gilgal, in the east border of Jericho.

20 Και τους δώδεκα εκείνους λίθους, τους οποίους έλαβον εκ του Ιορδάνου, έστησεν ο Ιησούς εν Γαλγάλοις.

And those twelve stones which they took out of Jordan, did Joshua set up in Gilgal.

21 Και είπε προς τους υιούς Ισραήλ, λέγων, Όταν εις το μέλλον ερωτώσιν οι υιοί σας τους πατέρας αυτών, λέγοντες, Τι δηλούσιν οι λίθοι ούτοι;

And he spoke to the children of Israel, saying, When your children shall ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What [mean] these stones?

22 τότε θέλετε αναγγείλει προς τους υιούς σας, λέγοντες, Διά ξηράς διέβη ο Ισραήλ τον Ιορδάνην τούτον·

Then ye shall let your children know, saying, Israel came over this Jordan on dry land.

23 διότι απεξήρανε Κύριος ο Θεός σας τα ύδατα του Ιορδάνου έμπροσθέν σας, εωσού διέβητε, καθώς έκαμε Κύριος ο Θεός σας εις την Ερυθράν θάλασσαν, την οποίαν απεξήρανεν έμπροσθεν ημών, εωσού διέβημεν·

For the LORD your God dried up the waters of Jordan from before you, until ye had passed over, as the LORD your God did to the Red sea, which he dried up from before us, until we had gone over:

24 διά να γνωρίσωσι πάντες οι λαοί της γης την χείρα του Κυρίου, ότι είναι κραταιά· διά να φοβήσθε Κύριον τον Θεόν σας πάντοτε.

That all the people of the earth might know the hand of the LORD that it [is] mighty: that ye might fear the LORD your God for ever.
