1 Issi Sambbaata gallas Yesuusi issi Farisaaweta halaqaa soo kathi maanaw geliya wode asay caddi xeellosona.
Then it happened, when He entered the house of one of the rulers of the Pharisees to eat bread on the Sabbath, that they were watching Him closely.
2 He bessan shawuhe harggen waayettiya issi asi iyaw sintha baggara zin77is.
And then, there in front of Him was a man who had dropsy!
3 Yesuusi Farisaawetakkonne higge asttamaaretakko, “Sambbaata gallas hargganchcho pasoy wogeyye woga gidennee?” yaagidi oychchis.
And Jesus reacted by saying to the lawyers and Pharisees, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?”
4 Entti si7i gidosona. Yesuusi harggettiya uraa bochchi pathidi moyzis.
But they kept silent. So He took hold of him, healed him, and let him go.
5 “Qassika hinttefe issuwas na7i woykko boori Sambbaata gallas aafon wulliko ellesidi kessonnay oonee?”
Then He addressed them saying, “Which of you, if a son or an ox falls into a pit, will not immediately pull him out on the Sabbath day?”
6 Entti issibaakka zaaranaw dandda7ibookkona.
And they could not answer Him regarding these things.
7 Yesuusi imatuwas xeegettidayssati bonchcho bessi doorishin be7idi, ha leemisuwa odis.
Then He told a parable to those who were invited, having observed how they kept trying for the best places, saying to them:
8 “Issi asi nena yaagano xeegikko bonchcho bessan uttofa. Neeppe aadhdhi bonchchettiya asi xeegettanaw dandda7ees.
“Whenever you are invited by someone to a wedding feast, do not recline in the place of honor, in case someone more honorable than you has been invited by him;
9 Hinttena nam77atakka xeegidayssi yidi, ‘Ne bessaa ha imathaas yedda’ yaagiya wode neeni yeellatashe ziqqa bessi wodhdhaasa.
then he who invited you both will come and say, ‘You, give this man place!’ and then, with shame, you start to take the lowest place.
10 Gidoshin, ne xeegettida wode koyrottada ziqqa bessi be7ada utta. Xeegoyssi yidi, ‘Ta laggiyaw, ha bonchcho bessan utta’ yaagana. He wode neera issife xeegettida asa ubbaa sinthan ne bonchchettana.
Rather, whenever you are invited, go and recline in the lowest place, so that when your host comes, he may say to you, ‘Friend, move up higher.’ Then you will have honor in the presence of your fellow guests.
11 Bana dhoqqu dhoqqu oothiya ubbay kawuyana; bana ziqqi ziqqi oothiya ubbay dhoqqu dhoqqu gaana.”
Because everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”
12 Qassi Yesuusi iya mokkida keethaa aawakko, “Quma woykko kaho imato xeegiya wode, neeni kushe zaaro xeegonna mela ne laggeta woykko ne ishata woykko ne dabbota woykko ne dure shoorota imato xeegoppa.
Then He said directly to His host: “Whenever you give a dinner or a supper, do not invite your friends, nor your brothers, nor your relatives, nor rich neighbors, lest they also invite you back, and you be repaid.
13 Gidoshin, ne imato giigisida wode manqota, wobbeta, gunddatanne qooqeta xeega; neeni anjjettana.
But whenever you make a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind;
14 Hayssati kushe zaaranaw dandda7onna gisho kushe zaaroy geeshshata denddo gallasan new simmana” yaagis.
and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you—you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.”
15 Yesuusara wolla imato bolla uttoyssata giddofe issoy hessa si7idi, “Xoossaa kawotethan imato bolla utteyssi anjjettidayssa” yaagis.
Well when one of the fellow-recliners heard these things, he said to Him, “Blessed is he who will eat dinner in the Kingdom of God!”
16 Yesuusi, “Issi asi gita imato giigisidi daro asata xeegis.
So He said to him: “A certain man prepared a great banquet and invited many.
17 Imatoy mokettiya saatey gakkiya wode xeegettida imathata, ‘Hekko ubbabay giigis, haa yiite’ yaagidi xeeganaada ba aylliya kiittis.
And at meal time he sent his slave to say to those who were invited, ‘Come, because everything is now ready.’
18 “Shin ubbayka bantta gaaso gaaso medhdhidosona. Issoy, ‘Ha77i buroo gade shammida gisho, bada be7anaw koshshees hayyana tana aggarkii yaaga’ yaagis.
But they all alike began to make excuses. The first said to him: ‘I bought a field, and I need to go and see it. I ask you to have me excused.’
19 Hankkoy, ‘Ichchashu waatha boori shammas enttana waaxa be7ana gisho hayyana tana lanccofa’ yaagis.
Another said: ‘I bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going to test them. I ask you to have me excused.’
20 Qassi haray, ‘Taani buroo meddan de7iya gisho, yaanaw dandda7ikke’ yaagis.
Yet another said, ‘I have married a wife, and so I cannot come.’
21 “Aylley simmi yidi he ubbaa ba godaas odis. He wode yaagano aaway hanqettidi aylliyako, ‘Ellesada kataman de7iya wogga ogetanne daggalata bada, manqota, wobbeta, qooqetanne gunddata haa eha’ yaagis.
So that slave came and reported these things to his master. Then the owner of the house became angry and said to his slave, ‘Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in here the poor and crippled and blind and lame.’
22 “Aylley, ‘Ta godaw, ne kiittidayssi ubbay polettis, shin ha77ika bessi de7ees’ yaagis.
And the slave said, ‘Master, what you ordered has been done, and there is still room.’
23 “Goday aylliyako, ‘Horogata bollanne, gade giddo ogeta keya, ta keethay kumana gakkanaw demmida ubbaa yaana mela ootha.
Then the master said to the slave: ‘Go out to the roads and hedges and make people come in, so that my house may be filled.
24 Ta hinttew odays; imatotidayssatappe oonikka ta gibiraappe moonnayssa erite’ gis” yaagis.
For I tell you that none of those men who were invited will get a taste of my banquet!’”
25 Daro asay iyara wolla bishin Yesuusi enttako guye simmidi,
Now large crowds were traveling with Him, and turning He said to them:
26 “Taakko yaa ubbay ba aawanne, ba aayiw, ba machchiwunne ba nayta, ba ishatanne ba michcheta, hari attoshin ba de7uwa ixxonnay ta tamaare gidanaw dandda7enna.
“If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple.
27 Ba masqaliya tookkidi tana kaallonnay ta tamaare gidanaw dandda7enna.
And whoever does not carry his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.
28 “Hinttefe issi asi shuchcha keethi keexanaw koykko, keethaa keexidi ongganaw ay mela miishe koshshiyako koyrottidi eranaw qoppi be7onnay oonee?
“Further, which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and calculate the cost, whether he has enough to complete it?
29 Hessa gidonna ixxiko, ha uray baaso shuchchu hiixin qusttethi xoonikko,
This so he does not lay a foundation without being able to finish, and all who see it begin to ridicule him,
30 be7iya ubbay, ‘Ha uray gimbbethi oykkin qusttanaw iya xoonis’ yaagidi boroosona.
saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish!’
31 “Woykko issi kawoy hara kawora olettanaw denddishe laatamu mukulu olanchchota ekki yaa kawuwara tammu mukulu olanchchotara eqettanaw dandda7anayssanne dandda7onayssa uttidi zorettonnay oonee?
“Or what king, going to engage another king in battle, does not sit down first and consider whether he is able with ten thousand to meet the one coming against him with twenty thousand?
32 Eqettanaw dandda7ettonaba gidikko, he hara kawuwara haahon de7ishin giiganaw koyrottidi cima yeddidi oychchees.
And if not, while the other is still far away he sends a delegation and asks for terms for peace.
33 Hessadakka, hinttefe oonikka baw de7iyaba ubbaa aggonna ixxiko ta tamaare gidanaw dandda7enna.
“So likewise, any of you who does not renounce all his own possessions cannot be my disciple.
34 “Maxiney lo77o, shin maxiney ba mal7uwa aggiko, waanidi maxine geetettanaw dandda7ii?
Salt is good; but should the salt become insipid, with what can it be seasoned?
35 Biittatethaaskka araddatethaaskka maaddonabaa gidiya gisho wora yegettees. Hiza, si7iya haythi de7iya asi si7o” yaagis.
It is fit for neither soil nor fertilizer; it is thrown out. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”
