< Luka 18 >

1 Nake Jesũ akĩhe arutwo ake ngerekano ya kũmaruta atĩ nĩmagĩrĩirwo nĩkũhooyaga hĩndĩ ciothe mategũkua ngoro.
He also spoke a parable to them that they must always pray, and not give up,
2 Akĩmeera atĩrĩ: “Itũũra-inĩ rĩmwe nĩ kwarĩ na mũtuanĩri ciira ũteetigagĩra Ngai kana agatĩĩa andũ.
saying, "There was a judge in a certain city who did not fear God, and did not respect people.
3 Na itũũra-inĩ rĩu nĩ kwarĩ mũtumia ũmwe wa ndigwa wathiiaga kũrĩ we kaingĩ akamwĩra atĩrĩ, ‘Ndĩhĩria harĩ thũ ciakwa.’
A widow was in that city, and she often came to him, saying, 'Give me justice against my adversary.'
4 “No mũtuanĩri ciira ũcio akĩrega kũmũteithia kwa ihinda. No marigĩrĩrio akĩĩra na ngoro atĩrĩ, ‘O na gũtuĩka ndiĩtigĩrĩte Ngai kana ngatĩĩa andũ-rĩ,
He would not for a while, but afterward he said to himself, 'Though I neither fear God, nor respect people,
yet because this widow bothers me, I will give her justice, or else she will wear me out by her continual coming.'"
6 Nake Mwathani akiuga atĩrĩ, “Nĩmwaigua ũrĩa mũtuanĩri ciira ũcio ũtarĩ kĩhooto oigire?
The Lord said, "Listen to what the unrighteous judge says.
7 Githĩ o nake Ngai ndagatua ciira na kĩhooto wa arĩa ake ethuurĩire, o arĩa mamũkayagĩra mũthenya na ũtukũ? No aage kũmateithia na ihenya?
Won't God avenge his chosen ones, who are crying out to him day and night, and yet he exercises patience with them?
8 Ngũmwĩra atĩrĩ, agaatigĩrĩra atĩ nĩmaciirĩrwo na kĩhooto, o na ningĩ na ihenya. O na kũrĩ ũguo-rĩ, rĩrĩa Mũrũ wa Mũndũ agooka-rĩ, nĩagakora andũ metĩkĩtie gũkũ thĩ?”
I tell you that he will avenge them quickly. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?"
9 Ningĩ Jesũ akĩarĩria andũ amwe arĩa meĩhokaga o ene, magetuaga athingu na makahũthagia andũ arĩa angĩ othe, akĩmahe ngerekano, akĩmeera atĩrĩ:
He spoke also this parable to certain people who were convinced of their own righteousness, and who despised all others.
10 “Andũ eerĩ nĩmambatire hekarũ-inĩ kũhooya. Ũmwe aarĩ Mũfarisai na ũcio ũngĩ aarĩ mwĩtia wa mbeeca cia igooti.
"Two men went up into the temple to pray; one was a Pharisee, and the other was a tax collector.
11 Mũfarisai ũcio akĩrũgama akĩĩhooera we mwene, akiuga atĩrĩ, ‘Ngai, nĩndagũcookeria ngaatho nĩgũkorwo ndihaana ta andũ arĩa angĩ, arĩa atunyani, na arĩa mekaga ũũru, na itharia, o na kana ta mwĩtia ũyũ wa mbeeca cia igooti.
The Pharisee stood and prayed to himself like this: 'God, I thank you, that I am not like other people, extortioners, unrighteous, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.
12 Nĩndĩĩhingaga kũrĩa irio maita meerĩ o kiumia, na ngaruta gĩcunjĩ gĩa ikũmi kĩa indo ciothe iria nyonaga.’
I fast twice a week. I give tithes of all that I get.'
13 “No rĩrĩ, mwĩtia wa mbeeca cia igooti ũcio akĩrũgama o haraaya; na ndaigana gũtiira maitho make na igũrũ, no nĩ kwĩgũtha eegũthaga gĩthũri enyiihĩtie, akoiga atĩrĩ, ‘Ngai, njiguĩra tha, niĩ mũndũ mwĩhia.’
But the tax collector, standing far away, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me, a sinner.'
14 “Ngũmwĩra atĩrĩ, mwĩtia mbeeca cia igooti nĩainũkire atuĩtwo mũthingu mbere ya Ngai gũkĩra ũcio ũngĩ. Nĩgũkorwo ũrĩa wothe wĩtũgagĩria nĩakanyiihio nake ũrĩa wĩnyiihagia nĩagatũũgĩrio.”
I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted."
15 Na rĩrĩ, andũ nao nĩmarehagĩra Jesũ twana nĩguo atũhutie. Arutwo ake mona ũguo, makĩmakaania.
Now they were also bringing their babies to him, that he might touch them. But when the disciples saw it, they rebuked them.
16 Nowe Jesũ agĩĩta twana tũu harĩ we, akiuga atĩrĩ, “Rekei twana tũu tũũke kũrĩ niĩ, tigai gũtũgiria, nĩgũkorwo ũthamaki wa Ngai nĩ wa arĩa matariĩ ta tuo.
Jesus summoned them, saying, "Allow the little children to come to me, and do not hinder them, for the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these.
17 Ngũmwĩra atĩrĩ na ma, ũrĩa wothe ũtakamũkĩra ũthamaki wa Ngai ta kaana ndakaũtoonya.”
Truly, I tell you, whoever does not receive the Kingdom of God like a little child, he will in no way enter into it."
18 Mũnene ũmwe akĩmũũria atĩrĩ, “Mũrutani mwega, ingĩĩka atĩa nĩguo ngaagaya muoyo wa tene na tene?” (aiōnios g166)
A certain ruler asked him, saying, "Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit everlasting life?" (aiōnios g166)
19 Nake Jesũ akĩmũũria atĩrĩ, “Ũkũnjĩta mwega nĩkĩ? Gũtirĩ o na ũmwe mwega tiga Ngai we wiki.
Jesus asked him, "Why do you call me good? No one is good, except one—God.
20 We nĩũĩ ũrĩa maathani moigĩte, ‘Ndũkanatharanie, na ndũkanoragane, na ndũkanaiye, na ndũkanaigĩrĩre mũndũ ũrĩa ũngĩ kĩgeenyo, na tĩĩa thoguo na nyũkwa.’”
You know the commandments: 'Do not commit adultery,' 'Do not murder,' 'Do not steal,' 'Do not give false testimony,' 'Honor your father and your mother.'"
21 Nake akĩmũcookeria atĩrĩ, “Maathani macio mothe ndũire ndĩmarũmĩtie kuuma ndĩ o mũnini.”
And he said, "I have kept all these things from my youth up."
22 Jesũ aigua ũguo, akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Harĩ ũndũ ũmwe ũtigarĩtie gwĩka. Thiĩ wendie kĩrĩa gĩothe ũrĩ nakĩo ũhe athĩĩni mbeeca icio, na nĩũkũgĩa na mũthiithũ igũrũ. Ũcooke ũũke ũnũmĩrĩre.”
When Jesus heard it, he said to him, "You still lack one thing. Sell all that you have, and distribute it to the poor. You will have treasure in heaven. Come, follow me."
23 Rĩrĩa mũnene ũcio aiguire ũguo, akĩigua kĩeha mũno, tondũ aarĩ mũtongu mũno.
But when he heard these things, he became very sad, for he was very rich.
24 Jesũ akĩmũrora, akiuga atĩrĩ, “Kaĩ nĩ hinya andũ arĩa atongu gũtoonya ũthamaki-inĩ wa Ngai-ĩ!
And Jesus looked at him and said, "How hard it is for those who have riches to enter into the Kingdom of God.
25 Nĩ ũhũthũ ngamĩĩra ĩhungurĩre irima rĩa cindano, gũkĩra gĩtonga gũtoonya ũthamaki-inĩ wa Ngai.”
For it is easier for a camel to enter in through a needle's eye, than for a rich person to enter into the Kingdom of God."
26 Nao arĩa maiguire ũhoro ũcio makĩũria atĩrĩ, “Nũũ ũngĩkĩhota kũhonoka?”
Those who heard it said, "Then who can be saved?"
27 Jesũ akĩmacookeria atĩrĩ, “Maũndũ marĩa matahotekaga nĩ andũ nĩmahotekaga nĩ Ngai.”
But he said, "The things which are impossible with man are possible with God."
28 Nake Petero akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Ithuĩ tũtigĩte maũndũ maitũ mothe tũgakũrũmĩrĩra!”
And Peter said, "Look, we have left our own things and followed you."
29 Jesũ akĩmeera, “Ngũmwĩra atĩrĩ na ma, gũtirĩ mũndũ ũtigĩte mũciĩ wake, kana mũtumia wake, kana ariũ a nyina, kana aciari ake, o na kana ciana ciake, nĩ ũndũ wa ũthamaki wa Ngai,
He said to them, "Truly I tell you, there is no one who has left house, or wife, or brothers, or parents, or children, for the Kingdom of God's sake,
who will not receive many times more in this time, and in the world to come, everlasting life." (aiōn g165, aiōnios g166)
31 Na rĩrĩ, Jesũ agĩtwara arutwo ake arĩa ikũmi na eerĩ handũ keheri-inĩ akĩmeera atĩrĩ, “Nĩtũkwambata tũthiĩ Jerusalemu, na maũndũ mothe marĩa maandĩkirwo nĩ anabii makoniĩ Mũrũ wa Mũndũ no nginya mahingio.
He took the twelve aside, and said to them, "Look, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all the things that are written through the prophets concerning the Son of Man will be completed.
32 Nake nĩakaneanwo kũrĩ andũ-a-Ndũrĩrĩ. Nao nĩ makaamũnyũrũria, na mamũrume, na mamũtuĩre mata, na mamũhũũre iboko, o na mamũũrage.
For he will be delivered up to the non-Jews, will be mocked, treated shamefully, and spit on.
33 Naguo mũthenya wa gatatũ nĩakariũka.”
They will scourge and kill him. On the third day, he will rise again."
34 Nao arutwo ake makĩaga kũmenya ũndũ o na ũmwe wa macio. Nĩmahithĩtwo ũhoro ũcio na matiamenyire ũrĩa aameeraga.
They understood none of these things. This saying was hidden from them, and they did not understand the things that were said.
35 Nake Jesũ akuhĩrĩria Jeriko, mũndũ warĩ mũtumumu nĩaikarĩte mũkĩra-inĩ wa njĩra akĩhooya mbeeca.
It happened, as he came near Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the road, begging.
36 Rĩrĩa aiguire andũ aingĩ makĩhĩtũka, akĩũria ũrĩa gwekĩkaga.
Hearing a crowd going by, he asked what this meant.
37 Andũ makĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Nĩ Jesũ wa Nazarethi ũrahĩtũka.”
They told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by.
38 Nake akĩanĩrĩra, akiuga atĩrĩ, “Jesũ, mũrũ wa Daudi, njiguĩra tha.”
He called out, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me."
39 Arĩa maatongoretie makĩmũkaania makĩmwĩra akire, nowe agĩkĩrĩrĩria kwanĩrĩra akiugaga atĩrĩ, “Mũrũ wa Daudi, njiguĩra tha!”
Those who led the way rebuked him, that he should be quiet; but he shouted all the more, "Son of David, have mercy on me."
40 Nake Jesũ akĩrũgama, agĩathana, mũndũ ũcio atwarwo harĩ we.
Standing still, Jesus commanded him to be brought to him. When he had come near, he asked him,
41 Rĩrĩa aakuhĩrĩirie, Jesũ akĩmũũria atĩrĩ, “Ũkwenda ngwĩkĩre atĩa?” Nake akĩmũcookeria atĩrĩ, “Mwathani, ngwenda njooke kuona.”
"What do you want me to do?" He said, "Lord, that I may see again."
42 Jesũ akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Cooka kuona, gwĩtĩkia gwaku nĩkuo gwatũma ũhone.”
Jesus said to him, "Receive your sight. Your faith has healed you."
43 O rĩmwe akĩambĩrĩria kuona, nake akĩrũmĩrĩra Jesũ, akĩgoocaga Ngai. Rĩrĩa andũ othe moonire ũguo, o nao makĩgooca Ngai.
And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God. All the people, when they saw it, praised God.
