Psalm 83

1 Ein Lied, ein Psalm Asaphs. Gott sei dir nicht stille, schweige nicht, raste nicht, o Gott!

A song. A psalm of Asaph. God, do not be silent! Do not ignore us and remain unmoved, God.

2 Denn siehe, Deine Feinde toben; und das Haupt erheben, die Dich hassen.

Look, your enemies are making a commotion, and those who hate you have raised their heads.

3 Wider Dein Volk handeln sie insgeheim mit Arglist, und ratschlagen wider die, so Du verdeckst.

They conspire against your people and plan together against your protected ones.

4 Sie sagen: Kommt, wir schaffen sie weg, daß sie keine Völkerschaft mehr sind, und des Namens Israels nicht mehr gedacht werde.

They have said, “Come, and let us destroy them as a nation. Then the name of Israel will no longer be remembered.”

5 Denn sie ratschlagen miteinander im Herzen und schließen wider Dich einen Bund,

They have schemed together with one strategy; against you they have made an alliance.

6 Die Zelte Edoms und die Ismaeliter, Moab und die Hagriter,

This includes the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, and the people of Moab and the Hagrites, who plot together with

7 Gebal und Ammon und Amalek, Philistäa mit denen, die in Tyrus wohnen;

Gebal, Ammon, Amalek; it also includes Philistia and the inhabitants of Tyre.

8 Auch Assur hängt ihnen an, ein Arm sind sie den Söhnen Lots. (Selah)

Assyria also is allied with them; they are helping the descendants of Lot. (Selah)

9 Tue ihnen, wie Midjan, wie dem Sisera, wie Jabin im Bachtal Kischon.

Do to them as you did to Midian, as you did to Sisera and to Jabin at the Kishon River.

10 Sie wurden in Endor vernichtet, wurden zum Dünger auf dem Boden.

They perished at Endor and became like manure for the earth.

11 Mache ihre Edlen wie Oreb und wie Seeb, und wie Sebach und wie Zalmunna, alle ihre Gesalbten;

Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb, and all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna.

12 Sie, die da sagen: Lasset uns einnehmen für uns Gottes Wohnplätze.

They said, “Let us take for ourselves the pastures of God.”

13 Mache sie, mein Gott, wie Wirbelstaub, wie Spreu vor dem Winde;

My God, make them like the whirling dust, like chaff before the wind,

14 Wie Feuer den Wald verbrennt, und wie die Flamme, die Berge entflammt,

like the fire that burns the forest, and like the flame that sets the mountains on fire.

15 So setze ihnen nach mit Deinem Wetter, und mit Deinem Sturmwind mache sie bestürzt.

Chase them with your strong wind, and terrify them with your windstorm.

16 Fülle ihr Gesicht mit Unehre, und lasse sie, Jehovah, Deinen Namen suchen.

Fill their faces with shame so that they might seek your name, Yahweh.

17 Lasse sie beschämt und bestürzt werden fort und fort, und lasse sie erröten und vergehen.

May they be put to shame and be terrified forever; may they perish in disgrace.

18 Und sie sollen erkennen, daß Du, Dein Name, Jehovah, allein der Allerhöchste bist auf der ganzen Erde.

Then they will know that you alone, Yahweh, are the Most High over all the earth.
