Psalm 115

1 Nicht uns, Jehovah, nicht uns, sondern Deinem Namen gib Herrlichkeit, um Deiner Barmherzigkeit, um Deiner Wahrheit willen!

Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to your name give glory.

2 Warum sollen die Völkerschaften sagen: Wo ist nun ihr Gott?

Give glory to your mercy and your truth, lest the Gentiles should say, “Where is their God?”

3 Aber unser Gott ist in den Himmeln, Er kann tun, wozu Er Lust hat.

But our God is in heaven. All things whatsoever that he has willed, he has done.

4 Ihre Götzenbilder sind Silber und Gold, gemacht von den Händen des Menschen.

The idols of the nations are silver and gold, the works of the hands of men.

5 Einen Mund haben sie und reden nicht, Augen haben sie und sehen nicht;

They have mouths, and do not speak; they have eyes, and do not see.

6 Ohren haben sie und hören nicht, eine Nase haben sie und riechen nicht;

They have ears, and do not hear; they have noses, and do not smell.

7 Ihre Hände, und sie tasten nicht, ihre Füße, und sie gehen nicht, sie sprechen nicht aus ihrer Kehle.

They have hands, and do not feel; they have feet, and do not walk. Neither will they cry out with their throat.

8 Wie sie sind die, so sie machen, jeder, der auf sie vertraut.

Let those who make them become like them, along with all who trust in them.

9 Israel, vertraue auf Jehovah! Ihr Beistand und ihr Schild ist Er.

The house of Israel has hoped in the Lord. He is their helper and their protector.

10 Haus Aharons, vertrauet auf Jehovah; ihr Beistand und ihr Schild ist Er.

The house of Aaron has hoped in the Lord. He is their helper and their protector.

11 Ihr, die ihr Jehovah fürchtet, vertrauet auf Jehovah; ihr Beistand und ihr Schild ist Er.

Those who fear the Lord have hoped in the Lord. He is their helper and their protector.

12 Jehovah gedenkt unser, Er segnet: Er segnet das Haus Israel, Er segnet das Haus Aharons.

The Lord has been mindful of us, and he has blessed us. He has blessed the house of Israel. He has blessed the house of Aaron.

13 Er segnet die, so Jehovah fürchten, die Kleinen mit den Großen.

He has blessed all who fear the Lord, the small with the great.

14 Jehovah wird zu euch hinzutun, zu euch und zu euren Söhnen.

May the Lord add blessings upon you: upon you, and upon your sons.

15 Gesegnet seid ihr dem Jehovah, Der Himmel und Erde gemacht.

Blessed are you by the Lord, who made heaven and earth.

16 Die Himmel, die Himmel sind Jehovahs, und die Erde gab Er den Söhnen des Menschen.

The heaven of heaven is for the Lord, but the earth he has given to the sons of men.

17 Die Toten loben nicht Jah, noch alle, die zur Stille hinabfahren.

The dead will not praise you, Lord, and neither will all those who descend into Hell. (questioned)

18 Wir aber segnen Jah von nun an und bis in Ewigkeit. Hallelujah!

But we who live will bless the Lord, from this time forward, and even forever.
