Matthaeus 4
1 Da ward Jesus vom Geist in die Wüste hinaufgeführt, auf daß Er vom Teufel versucht würde.
Then Jesus was sent by the Spirit into the waste land to be tested by the Evil One.
2 Und da Er vierzig Tage und vierzig Nächte gefastet hatte, hungerte Ihn danach.
And after going without food for forty days and forty nights, he was in need of it.
3 Und der Versucher kam herzu und sprach zu Ihm: Wenn Du Gottes Sohn bist, so sprich, daß diese Steine sollen Brot werden.
And the Evil One came and said to him, If you are the Son of God, give the word for these stones to become bread.
4 Er aber antwortete und sprach: Es ist geschrieben: Der Mensch soll nicht allein vom Brote leben, sondern von jeglichem Wort, das durch den Mund Gottes ausgeht.
But he made answer and said, It is in the Writings, Bread is not man's only need, but every word which comes out of the mouth of God.
5 Da nimmt Ihn der Teufel mit sich in die heilige Stadt und stellt Ihn auf die Zinne des Tempels,
Then the Evil One took him to the holy town; and he put him on the highest point of the Temple and said to him,
6 Und spricht zu Ihm: Wenn Du Gottes Sohn bist, so wirf Dich hinab; denn es ist geschrieben, daß Er Seinen Engeln gebieten wird ob Dir, und sie sollen Dich auf den Händen tragen, auf daß Du Deinen Fuß nicht an einen Stein stoßest.
If you are the Son of God, let yourself go down; for it is in the Writings, He will give his angels care over you; and, In their hands they will keep you up, so that your foot may not be crushed against a stone.
7 Sprach zu ihm Jesus: Wiederum ist geschrieben: du sollst den Herrn, deinen Gott, nicht versuchen.
Jesus said to him, Again it is in the Writings, You may not put the Lord your God to the test.
8 Wiederum nimmt Ihn der Teufel mit sich auf einen ungemein hohen Berg und zeigt Ihm alle Reiche der Welt und ihre Herrlichkeit,
Again, the Evil One took him up to a very high mountain, and let him see all the kingdoms of the world and the glory of them;
9 Und spricht zu Ihm: Dies alles will ich Dir geben, wenn Du niederfällst und mich anbetest.
And he said to him, All these things will I give you, if you will go down on your face and give me worship.
10 Da spricht zu ihm Jesus: Geh' hinweg hinter Mich, Satan, denn es ist geschrieben: Du sollst den Herrn, deinen Gott, anbeten und Ihm allein dienen.
Then said Jesus to him, Away, Satan: for it is in the Writings, Give worship to the Lord your God and be his servant only.
11 Da verläßt Ihn der Teufel, und siehe, Engel kamen herzu und bedienten Ihn.
Then the Evil One went away from him, and angels came and took care of him.
12 Als Er aber hörte, daß Johannes überantwortet ward, zog Er hin nach Galiläa.
Now when it came to his ears that John had been put in prison, he went away to Galilee;
13 Und Er verließ Nazareth, kam und wohnte in Kapernaum, das am Meere ist, in den Grenzen Sebulons und Nephthalims.
And going away from Nazareth, he came and made his living-place in Capernaum, which is by the sea, in the country of Zebulun and Naphtali:
14 Auf daß erfüllt würde, was gesagt wird durch den Propheten Jesajas, der da spricht:
So that the word of the prophet Isaiah might come true,
15 Das Land Sebulon und das Land Nephthalim am Wege des Meeres jenseits des Jordan und Galiläa der Völkerschaften.
The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, by the way of the sea, the other side of Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles,
16 Das Volk, das im Finstern saß, hat ein großes Licht gesehen, und denen, die in der Landschaft und dem Schatten des Todes saßen, ist ein Licht aufgegangen.
The people who were in the dark saw a great light, and to those in the land of the shade of death did the dawn come up.
17 Von da an fing Jesus an zu predigen und zu sprechen: Tut Buße, denn das Reich der Himmel hat sich genaht.
From that time Jesus went about preaching and saying, Let your hearts be turned from sin, for the kingdom of heaven is near.
18 Wie Jesus aber an dem Meere Galiläas wandelte, sah er zwei Brüder, Simon, genannt Petrus, und seinen Bruder Andreas, wie sie ein Fischnetz in das Meer warfen; denn sie waren Fischer.
And when he was walking by the sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon, whose other name was Peter, and Andrew, his brother, who were putting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen.
19 Und Er spricht zu ihnen: Kommet her, Mir nach, und Ich will euch zu Menschenfischern machen.
And he said to them, Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men.
20 Sie aber verließen alsbald die Netze und folgten Ihm nach.
And straight away they let go the nets and went after him.
21 Und Er ging von dannen weiter und sah zwei andere Brüder, Jakobus, den des Zebedäus, und Johannes, seinen Bruder, in dem Fahrzeug mit Zebedäus, ihrem Vater, wie sie ihre Netze zurichteten, und Er rief sie.
And going on from there he saw two other brothers, James, the son of Zebedee, and John, his brother, in the boat with their father, stitching up their nets; and he said, Come.
22 Sie aber verließen alsbald das Fahrzeug und ihren Vater und folgten Ihm nach.
And they went straight from the boat and their father and came after him.
23 Und Jesus zog umher in ganz Galiläa, lehrte in ihren Synagogen und predigte das Evangelium von dem Reiche und heilte alle Krankheit und alles Siechtum im Volke.
And Jesus went about in all Galilee, teaching in their Synagogues and preaching the good news of the kingdom, and making well those who were ill with any disease among the people.
24 Und Sein Gerücht ging hin in ganz Syrien, und sie brachten Ihm alle Leidende, die mit mancherlei Krankheiten und Qualen behaftet waren, und Besessene und Mondsüchtige und Gichtbrüchige, und Er heilte sie.
And news of him went out through all Syria; and they took to him all who were ill with different diseases and pains, those having evil spirits and those who were off their heads, and those who had no power of moving. And he made them well.
25 Und es folge Ihm nach viel Volks von Galiläa und den zehn Städten, und von Jerusalem und von Judäa, und von jenseits des Jordan.
And there went after him great numbers from Galilee and Decapolis and Jerusalem and Judaea and from the other side of Jordan.
