Lukas 13
1 Es waren aber zur selben Zeit etliche da, die sagten Ihm an von den Galiläern, deren Blut Pilatus mit ihren Opfern vermischte.
Just at that time people came to tell Him about the Galilaeans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.
2 Und Jesus antwortete und sprach zu ihnen: Meint ihr, diese Galiläer seien Sünder gewesen vor allen Galiläern, weil sie solches erlitten haben?
"Do you suppose," He asked in reply, "that those Galilaeans were worse sinners than the mass of the Galilaeans, because this happened to them?
3 Nein, sage Ich euch, sondern wenn ihr nicht Buße tut, werdet ihr alle auch also umkommen.
I tell you, certainly not. On the contrary, if you are not penitent you will all perish as they did.
4 Oder meint ihr, daß jene achtzehn, auf die der Turm in Siloam fiel und sie tötete, seien Schuldner gewesen vor allen Menschen, die in Jerusalem wohnen?
Or those eighteen on whom the tower at Siloam fell, do you suppose they had failed in their duty more than all the rest of the people who live in Jerusalem?
5 Nein, sage Ich euch; sondern wenn ihr nicht Buße tut, werdet ihr alle auch also umkommen.
I tell you, certainly not. On the contrary, if you do not repent you will all perish just as they did."
6 Er sagte ihnen aber dies Gleichnis: Es hatte einer einen Feigenbaum, der in seinem Weinberg gepflanzt war, und kam und suchte Frucht darauf und fand keine.
And He gave them the following parable. "A man," He said, "who had a fig-tree growing in his garden came to look for fruit on it and could find none.
7 Er sprach aber zu dem Weinbauer: Siehe, drei Jahre komme ich und suche Frucht darauf und finde sie nicht. Haue ihn ab, was versperrt er das Land?
So he said to the gardener, "'See, this is the third year I have come to look for fruit on this fig-tree and cannot find any. Cut it down. Why should so much ground be actually wasted?'
8 Der aber antwortete und sagte zu ihm: Herr, laß ihn noch dieses Jahr, bis daß ich um ihn grabe und Dünger hinwerfe;
"But the gardener pleaded, "'Leave it, Sir, this year also, till I have dug round it and manured it.
9 Ob er dann Frucht bringt. Wo aber nicht, so haue ihn künftighin ab.
If after that it bears fruit, well and good; if it does not, then you shall cut it down.'"
10 Er lehrte aber in einer der Synagogen am Sabbath.
Once He was teaching on the Sabbath in one of the synagogues
11 Und siehe, da war ein Weib, das hatte achtzehn Jahre einen Geist des Gebrechens, und war zusammengekrümmt und konnte sich nicht völlig aufrichten.
where a woman was present who for eighteen years had been a confirmed invalid: she was bent double, and was unable to lift herself to her full height.
12 Da aber Jesus sie sah, rief Er sie herzu und sprach zu ihr: Weib, du bist erlöst von deinem Gebrechen.
But Jesus saw her, and calling to her, He said to her, "Woman, you are free from your weakness."
13 Und Er legte die Hände auf sie; und sogleich wurde sie gerade und verherrlichte Gott.
And He put His hands on her, and she immediately stood upright and began to give glory to God.
14 Der Oberste der Synagoge aber antwortete, unwillig, daß Jesus auf den Sabbath heilte, und sprach zu dem Gedränge: Sechs Tage sind es, an denen man arbeiten soll. An diesen kommt und lasset euch heilen, und nicht am Tage des Sabbaths.
Then the Warden of the Synagogue, indignant that Jesus had cured her on a Sabbath, said to the crowd, "There are six days in the week on which people ought to work. On those days therefore come and get yourselves cured, and not on the Sabbath day."
15 Da antwortete ihm der Herr und sprach: Du Heuchler, löst nicht jeder von euch am Sabbath seine Ochsen oder Esel von der Krippe und führt ihn hin, ihn zu tränken?
But the Lord's reply to him was, "Hypocrites, does not each of you on the Sabbath untie his bullock or his ass from the stall and lead him to water?
16 Diese aber, die eine Tochter Abrahams ist, die der Satan nun, siehe, achtzehn Jahre gebunden hatte, sie sollte nicht am Tage des Sabbaths von diesem Bande gelöst werden?
And this woman, daughter of Abraham as she is, whom Satan had bound for no less than eighteen years, was she not to be loosed from this chain because it is the Sabbath day?"
17 Und da Er solches sprach, mußten sich schämen alle Seine Widersacher; und das ganze Gedränge freute sich über all das Herrliche, das von Ihm geschah.
When He had said this, all His opponents were ashamed, while the whole multitude was delighted at the many glorious things continually done by Him.
18 Er aber sprach: Wem ist das Reich Gottes gleich, und wem soll Ich es vergleichen?
This prompted Him to say, "What is the Kingdom of God like? and to what shall I compare it?
19 Es ist gleich einem Senfkorn, das ein Mensch nahm und warf es in seinen Garten. Und es wuchs und ward zu einem großen Baum, so daß das Gevögel des Himmels in seinen Zweigen wohnte.
It is like a mustard seed which a man drops into the soil in his garden, and it grows and becomes a tree in whose branches the birds roost."
20 Und abermals sprach Er: Wem soll Ich das Reich Gottes vergleichen?
And again He said, "To what shall I compare the Kingdom of God?
21 Es ist gleich einem Sauerteig, den ein Weib nahm und in drei Seahs Mehl verbarg, bis daß das Ganze durchsäuert war.
It is like yeast which a woman takes and buries in a bushel of flour, to work there till the whole is leavened."
22 Und Er durchzog Städte und Flecken und lehrte, und machte die Reise nach Jerusalem.
He was passing through town after town and village after village, steadily proceeding towards Jerusalem,
23 Es sprach aber einer zu Ihm: Herr, sind es wenige, die gerettet werden? Er aber sprach zu ihnen:
when some one asked Him, "Sir, are there but few who are to be saved?"
24 Ringet danach, daß ihr eingeht durch das enge Tor; denn viele, sage Ich euch, werden versuchen, einzugehen und werden es nicht vermögen.
"Strain every nerve to force your way in through the narrow gate," He answered; "for multitudes, I tell you, will endeavour to find a way in and will not succeed.
25 Wenn der Hausherr sich aufgemacht hat und die Tür verschlossen hat, und ihr anfanget, draußen zu stehen und an die Tür zu klopfen, und sagt: Herr, Herr, tue uns auf! Und er wird antworten und zu euch sagen: Ich kenne euch nicht, woher ihr seid.
As soon as the Master of the house shall have risen and shut the door, and you have begun to stand outside and knock at the door and say, "'Sir, open the door for us' --"'I do not know you,' He answers; 'you are no friends of mine.'
26 Dann werdet ihr anfangen zu sagen: Wir haben vor dir gegessen und getrunken und in unseren Straßen hast du gelehrt.
"Then you will plead, "'We have eaten and drunk in your company and you have taught in our streets.'
27 Und er wird sprechen: Ich sage euch: Ich kenne euch nicht, woher ihr seid. Weichet von mir alle, die Ungerechtigkeit wirken.
"But He will reply, "'I tell you that you are no friends of mine. Begone from me, all of you, wrongdoers that you are.'
28 Da wird sein Heulen und Zähneknirschen, wenn ihr sehen werdet Abraham und Isaak und Jakob und alle die Propheten im Reiche Gottes, ihr aber werdet hinausgeworfen.
"There will be the weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the Prophets in the Kingdom of God, and yourselves being driven far away.
29 Und kommen werden vom Aufgang und Niedergang und von Mitternacht und Mittag und im Reiche Gottes zu Tische liegen.
They will come from east and west, from north and south, and will sit down at the banquet in the Kingdom of God.
30 Und siehe, es sind Letzte, die Erste sein werden, und sind Erste, die Letzte sein werden.
And I tell you that some now last will then be first, and some now first will then be last."
31 An selbigen Tage kamen einige Pharisäer herzu und sprachen zu Ihm: Gehe hinaus und ziehe von hinnen; denn Herodes will Dich töten.
Just at that time there came some Pharisees who warned Him, saying, "Leave this place and continue your journey; Herod means to kill you."
32 Und Er sprach zu ihnen: Geht hin und sagt diesem Fuchs: Siehe, Ich treibe Dämonen aus und vollbringe Heilungen heute und morgen, und am dritten Tage werde Ich vollendet.
"Go," He replied, "and take this message to that fox: "'See, to-day and to-morrow I am driving out demons and effecting cures, and on the third day I finish my course.'
33 Doch muß Ich heute und morgen und am folgenden Tage hinziehen; denn es tut es nicht, daß ein Prophet umkomme außerhalb Jerusalems.
"Yet I must continue my journey to-day and to-morrow and the day following; for it is not conceivable that a Prophet should perish outside of Jerusalem.
34 Jerusalem, Jerusalem, die du tötest die Propheten und steinigst, die zu dir gesandt werden. Wie oft habe Ich deine Kinder versammeln wollen, wie die Henne ihr Brut unter die Flügel, und ihr habt nicht gewollt.
O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou who murderest the Prophets and stonest those who have been sent to thee, how often have I desired to gather thy children just as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you would not come!
35 Siehe, euer Haus wird euch wüste gelassen. Aber Ich sage euch: Ihr werdet Mich nicht sehen, bis es kommen wird, daß ihr sagt: Gesegnet sei, Der da kommt im Namen des Herrn.
See, your house is left to you. But I tell you that you will never see me again until you say, 'Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!'"
