1 Mose 11
1 Und die ganze Erde hatte eine Lippe und einerlei Worte.
The whole earth was of one language and of one speech.
2 Und es geschah, daß sie von Osten auszogen und ein Tal im Lande Schinear fanden und daselbst wohnten.
It happened, as they traveled from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar, and they settled there.
3 Und sie sprachen zueinander: Wohlan, lasset uns Ziegel streichen und im Feuer brennen; und sie hatten Ziegel statt Stein und Erdharz hatten sie statt Mörtel.
And they said to one another, "Come, let us make bricks, and burn them thoroughly." They had brick for stone, and they used tar for mortar.
4 Und sie sprachen: Wohlan, lasset uns eine Stadt bauen, und einen Turm und seine Spitze sei im Himmel, und laßt uns einen Namen für uns machen, daß wir uns nicht über die ganze Erde zerstreuen.
They said, "Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top reaches to the sky, and let us make ourselves a name, lest we be scattered abroad on the surface of the whole earth."
5 Und Jehovah kam herab um zu sehen die Stadt und den Turm, den die Söhne des Menschen bauten.
The LORD came down to see the city and the tower, that humankind was building.
6 Und Jehovah sprach: Siehe, sie sind alle ein Volk und haben eine Lippe und dies fangen sie an zu tun und nun wird nichts von ihnen zurückgehalten werden was sie gedenken zu tun.
The LORD said, "Look, they are one people, and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do. So now nothing which they plan to do will be too difficult for them.
7 Wohlan, lasset uns hinabgehen und ihre Lippe verwirren, daß keiner auf die Lippe des anderen höre.
Come, let us go down, and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another's speech."
8 Und Jehovah zerstreute sie von da über die ganze Erde und sie hörten auf die Stadt zu bauen,
Then God scattered them abroad from there on the surface of all the earth; so they ceased building the city.
9 Deshalb nannte man ihren Namen Babel, weil dort Jehovah die Lippe der ganzen Erde verwirrte; und von da zerstreute sie Jehovah über die ganze Erde.
Therefore its name was called Babel, because there God confused the language of all the earth. From there he scattered them over the face of the whole earth.
10 Dies sind die Geburten des Schem. Schem war hundert Jahre alt, und er zeugte den Arpachschad zwei Jahre nach der Flut.
These are the generations of Shem. Shem was one hundred years old and became the father of Arpachshad two years after the flood.
11 Und Schem lebte, nachdem er den Arpachschad gezeugt, fünfhundert Jahre und zeugte Söhne und Töchter.
Shem lived five hundred years after he became the father of Arpachshad, and fathered sons and daughters.
12 Und Arpachschad lebte fünfunddreißig Jahre, und er zeugte Schelach.
And Arpachshad lived one hundred and thirty-five years and became the father of Kenan.
13 Und nachdem er Schelach gezeugt, lebte Arpachschad drei Jahre und vierhundert Jahre, und er zeugte Söhne und Töchter.
And Arpachshad lived four hundred and thirty years after he became the father of Kenan, and fathered sons and daughters. And Kenan lived one hundred and thirty years and became the father of Shelah. And Kenan lived three hundred and thirty years after he had become the father of Shelah, and fathered sons and daughters.
14 Und Schelach lebte dreißig Jahre, und zeugte den Eber.
Shelah lived one hundred and thirty years, and became the father of Eber:
15 Und Schelach lebte, nachdem er Eber gezeugt hatte, drei Jahre und vierhundert Jahre, und er zeugte Söhne und Töchter.
and Shelah lived four hundred and three years after he became the father of Eber, and fathered sons and daughters.
16 Und Eber lebte vierunddreißig Jahre, und zeugte den Peleg.
Eber lived one hundred and thirty-four years, and became the father of Peleg.
17 Und Eber lebte, nachdem er den Peleg gezeugt, dreißig Jahre und vierhundert Jahre, und zeugte Söhne und Töchter.
Eber lived three hundred and seventy years after he became the father of Peleg, and fathered sons and daughters.
18 Und Peleg lebte dreißig Jahre und zeugte Reu.
Peleg lived one hundred and thirty years, and became the father of Reu.
19 Und Peleg lebte, nachdem er Reu gezeugt neun Jahre und zweihundert Jahre, und zeugte Söhne und Töchter.
Peleg lived two hundred and nine years after he became the father of Reu, and fathered sons and daughters.
20 Und Reu lebte zweiunddreißig Jahre, und zeugte Serug.
Reu lived one hundred and thirty-two years, and became the father of Serug.
21 Und Reu lebte, nachdem er Serug gezeugt hatte, sieben Jahre und zweihundert Jahre, und er zeugte Söhne und Töchter.
Reu lived two hundred and seven years after he became the father of Serug, and fathered sons and daughters.
22 Und Serug lebte dreißig Jahre, und zeugte Nachor.
Serug lived one hundred and thirty years, and became the father of Nahor.
23 Und Serug lebte, nachdem er Nachor gezeugt hatte, zweihundert Jahre, und er zeugte Söhne und Töchter.
Serug lived two hundred years after he became the father of Nahor, and fathered sons and daughters.
24 Und Nachor lebte neunundzwanzig Jahre, und zeugte Tharach.
Nahor lived seventy-nine years, and became the father of Terah.
25 Und Nachor lebte, nachdem er den Tharach gezeugt hatte, neunzehn Jahre und hundert Jahre, und er zeugte Söhne und Töchter.
Nahor lived one hundred and twenty-nine years after he became the father of Terah, and fathered sons and daughters.
26 Und Tharach lebte siebzig Jahre, und zeugte Abram, Nachor und Haran.
Terah lived seventy years, and became the father of Abram, Nahor, and Haran.
27 Und dies sind die Geburten Tharachs: Tharach zeugte Abram, Nachor und Haran; und Haran zeugte Lot.
Now these are the generations of Terah. Terah became the father of Abram, Nahor, and Haran. And Haran became the father of Lot.
28 Und Haran starb auf dem Angesichte seines Vaters Tharach im Lande seiner Geburt in Ur der Chaldäer.
And Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his birth, in Ur Kasdim.
29 Und Abram und Nachor nahmen sich Weiber. Der Name von Abrams Weib war Sarai, und der Name von Nachors Weib Milkah, eine Tochter Harans, des Vaters der Milkah und des Vaters der Jiskah.
And Abram and Nahor took wives. The name of Abram's wife was Sarai, and the name of Nahor's wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran who was also the father of Iscah.
30 Und Sarai war unfruchtbar, sie hatte kein Kind.
And Sarai was barren. She had no child.
31 Und Tharach nahm Abram seinen Sohn und Lot, den Sohn Harans seines Sohnes Sohn, und Sarai, seine Schwiegertochter, seines Sohnes Abrams Weib, und sie zogen aus mit ihnen aus Ur der Chaldäer um nach dem Lande Kanaan zu gehen, und sie kamen bis Charan und wohnten daselbst.
And Terah took Abram his son, Lot the son of Haran, his grandson, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Abram's wife, and with them he set out from Ur Kasdim to go into the land of Canaan. But when they came to Haran, they settled there.
32 Und Tharachs Tage waren fünf Jahre und zweihundert Jahre, und Tharach starb in Charan.
And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years. And Terah died in Haran.
