2 Samuel 8

1 Und es geschah danach, daß David die Philister schlug und sie niederbeugte, und David nahm Metheg-Ammah aus der Hand der Philister.

After this it happened that David struck the Philistines, and subdued them, and David took the bridle of Ammah out of the hand of the Philistines.

2 Und er schlug Moab und maß sie mit der Schnur, so daß er sie zur Erde ließ niederliegen und zwei Schnüre maß, um zu töten, und eine volle Schnur am Leben zu lassen. Und es ward Moab dem David zu Knechten, daß sie ihm Geschenke zutrugen.

He struck Moab, and measured them with the line, making them to lie down on the ground; and he measured two lines to put to death, and one full line to keep alive. The Moabites became servants to David, and brought tribute.

3 Und David schlug Hadadeser, Rechobs Sohn, König von Zobah, da er hinzog, seine Hand zurückzuwenden am Flusse.

David struck also Hadadezer the son of Rehob, king of Zobah, as he went to recover his dominion at the River.

4 Und David nahm von ihm tausendsiebenhundert Reiter und zwanzigtausend Mann zu Fuß, und David lähmte alle Streitwagen und ließ hundert Streitwagen von ihnen übrig.

And David took from him a thousand of his chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: and David hamstrung all the chariot horses, but reserved of them for one hundred chariots.

5 Und Aram Damaskus kam, dem Hadadeser, König von Zobah, beizustehen; und David schlug dem Aram zweiund- zwanzigtausend Mann.

When the Arameans of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, David struck of the Arameans two and twenty thousand men.

6 Und David legte Besatzungen Aram Damaskus, und Aram ward David zu Knechten und trugen Geschenke zu, und Jehovah half dem David überall, wohin er ging.

Then David put garrisons in Aram of Damascus; and the Arameans became servants to David, and brought tribute. The LORD gave victory to David wherever he went.

7 Und David nahm die goldenen Schilde, welche die Knechte Hadadesers hatten, und brachte sie nach Jerusalem,

And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem, which, later on, were also taken by Shishak king of Egypt in the days of Rehoboam son of Solomon when he went up to Jerusalem.

8 Und von Betach und von Berothai, Städten Hadadesers, nahm König David sehr viel Erz.

From Tebah and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, king David took a very great amount of bronze.

9 Und Thoi, König von Chamath, hörte, daß David die ganze Streitmacht Hadadesers geschlagen;

When Toi king of Hamath heard that David had struck all the army of Hadadezer,

10 Und Thoi sandte seinen Sohn Joram zu König David, um sein Wohlsein zu erfragen, und ihn zu segnen dafür, daß er wider Hadadeser gestritten und ihn geschlagen hätte, denn Thoi war ein Mann des Streites wider Hadadeser; und in seiner Hand waren Gefäße von Silber und Gefäße von Gold und Gefäße von Erz.

then Toi sent Hadoram his son to king David, to greet him, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer and struck him: for Hadadezer had wars with Toi. And he brought with him vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and vessels of bronze.

11 Auch sie heiligte König David dem Jehovah mit dem Silber und dem Gold, das er von allen Völkerschaften, die er unterworfen, geheiligt hatte.

King David also dedicated these to the LORD, with the silver and gold that he dedicated of all the nations which he subdued;

12 Von Syrien und von Moab und von den Söhnen Ammons und von den Philistern und von Amalek und von der Beute Hadadesers, Rechobs Sohne, König von Zobah.

of Edom, and of Moab, and of the people of Ammon, and of the Philistines, and of Amalek, and of the spoil of Hadadezer, son of Rehob, king of Zobah.

13 Und David machte sich einen Namen, als er zurückkam, nachdem er von dem Aram im Salztal achtzehntausend geschlagen.

And David made a name for himself when he returned from defeating the Arameans. And Abishai son of Zeruiah defeated the Edomites in the Valley of Salt--eighteen thousand.

14 Und er legte Besatzungen in Edom, in ganz Edom legte er Besatzungen, und ganz Edom wurde dem David zum Knechte, und Jehovah half dem David in allem, wo er hinging.

And he put a garrison in Edom, and all the Edomites became servants to David. The LORD gave victory to David wherever he went.

15 Und David regierte über ganz Israel, und David tat Recht und Gerechtigkeit all seinem Volke.

David reigned over all Israel; and David executed justice and righteousness to all his people.

16 Und Joab, Zerujahs Sohn, war über das Heer, und Joschaphat, der Sohn Achiluds, war Kanzler.

Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the army; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder;

17 Und Zadok, der Sohn Achitubs, und Achimelech, der Sohn Abjathars, waren Priester, und Serajah war Schreiber.

and Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, were priests; and Shisha was scribe;

18 Und da waren Benajahu, der Sohn Jehojadas, und die Krethi und Plethi, und die Söhne Davids waren Priester.

and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David's sons were chief ministers.
