2 Samuel 14

1 Und Joab, der Sohn Zerujahs wußte, daß das Herz des Königs auf Absalom war.

Then Ioab the sonne of Zeruiah perceyued, that the Kings heart was toward Absalom,

2 Und Joab sandte nach Thekoah und ließ von da ein weises Weib holen und sprach zu ihr: Traure doch und ziehe doch Trauerkleider an, und salbe dich nicht mit Öl, und sei wie ein Weib, das seit vielen Tagen über einen Toten in Trauer ist.

And Ioab sent to Tekoah, and brought thence a subtile woman, and sayd vnto her, I pray thee, fayne thy selfe to mourne, and nowe put on mourning apparel, and anoynt not thy selfe with oyle: but be as a woman that had now long time mourned for the dead.

3 Und gehe zu dem König hinein und rede zu ihm nach diesen Worten. Und Joab legte ihr die Worte in den Mund.

And come to the King, and speake on this maner vnto him, (for Ioab taught her what she should say).

4 Und das Weib von Thekoah sprach zu dem Könige und fiel auf ihr Antlitz zur Erde und betete an und sprach: Hilf, o König!

Then the woman of Tekoah spake vnto the king, and fel downe on her face to the ground, and did obeysance, and sayd, Helpe, O King.

5 Und der König sprach zu ihr: Was ist dir? Und sie sprach: Ach! eine Witfrau bin ich und mein Mann ist gestorben.

Then the King sayd vnto her, What aileth thee? And she answered, I am in deede a widow, and mine husband is dead:

6 Und deine Dienstmagd hatte zwei Söhne, und es zankten sich die zwei auf dem Felde, und da war niemand da, der zwischen ihnen schlichtete, und der eine schlug den anderen und tötete ihn.

And thine handmayd had two sonnes, and they two stroue together in the fielde: (and there was none to part them) so the one smote the other, and slew him.

7 Und siehe, die ganze Familie macht sich auf wider deine Dienstmagd, und sie sagen: Gib den, der seinen Bruder erschlug, daß wir ihn töten für die Seele seines Bruders, den er erwürgte; und so wollen sie auch den Erbbesitzer vernichten und meine Kohle auslöschen, die noch verblieben ist, so daß sie meinem Mann weder Namen noch Überrest setzten auf dem Boden.

And beholde, the whole familie is risen against thine handmayde, and they sayde, Deliuer him that smote his brother, that we may kill him for the soule of his brother whome hee slewe, that we may destroy the heire also: so they shall quenche my sparkle which is left, and shall not leaue to mine husband neither name nor posteritie vpon the earth.

8 Und der König sprach zu dem Weibe: Gehe hin nach deinem Haus und ich will über dir gebieten.

And the King said vnto the woman, Go to thine house, and I wil giue a charge for thee.

9 Und das Weib aus Thekoah sprach zu dem Könige: Mein Herr König, auf mir und auf dem Hause meines Vaters sei die Missetat! Und der König und sein Thron sei unschuldig.

Then the woman of Tekoah said vnto the King, My lord, O King, this trespas be on me, and on my fathers house, and the King and his throne be giltlesse.

10 Und der König sprach: Wer wider dich redet, den bringe herein zu mir, und er soll dich ferner nicht mehr anrühren.

And the King sayde, Bring him to me that speaketh against thee, and he shall touche thee no more.

11 Und sie sprach: So gedenke doch der König Jehovahs, deines Gottes, daß der Rächer des Blutes nicht zu viel verderbe, und daß sie meinen Sohn nicht vernichten. Und er sprach: Beim Leben Jehovahs, es soll von deinem Sohn kein Haar zur Erde fallen.

Then said she, I pray thee, let the King remember the Lord thy God, that thou wouldest not suffer many reuengers of blood to destroy, lest they slay my sonne. And he answered, As the Lord liueth, there shall not one heare of thy sonne fall to the earth.

12 Und das Weib sprach: Darf wohl deine Dienstmagd zu meinem Herrn, dem König, ein Wort reden? Und er sprach: Rede!

Then the woman said, I pray thee, let thine handmayde speake a worde to my lord the King. And he sayd, Say on.

13 Und das Weib sprach: Warum hast du solches gedacht gegen das Volk Gottes, ist nicht der König, weil er solches Wort redet, wie ein Schuldiger, daß der König den von ihm Verstoßenen nicht zurückkehren läßt?

Then the woman sayde, Wherefore then hast thou thought such a thing against the people of God? or why doeth the King, as one which is faultie, speake this thing, that he will not bring againe his banished?

14 Denn wir sterben des Todes und sind wie Wasser, das auf die Erde hingegossen, nicht mehr kann gesammelt werden, und sollte Gott einer Seele nicht verzeihen und nicht Gedanken denken, daß der von Ihm Verstoßene nicht verstoßen bleibe?

For we must needes dye, and we are as water spilt on the ground, which cannot be gathered vp againe: neither doeth God spare any person, yet doeth he appoynt meanes, not to cast out from him, him that is expelled.

15 Und nun, daß ich hergekommen bin zu dem Könige, meinem Herrn, dieses Wort zu reden, geschah darum, daß die Leute mich in Furcht setzten, und deine Dienstmagd sprach: Ich will doch zu dem König reden. Vielleicht tut der König nach dem Worte seiner Magd;

Nowe therefore that I am come to speake of this thing vnto my lord the King, the cause is that the people haue made me afrayd: therefore thine handmayde sayd, Nowe will I speake vnto the King: it may be that the King will perfourme the request of his handmayde.

16 Wenn der König darauf hört, daß er seine Magd erretten will aus der Hand des Mannes, der mich und meinen Sohn zumal vom Erbe Gottes vernichten will.

For the King wil heare, to deliuer his handmayde out of the hande of the man that woulde destroy mee, and also my sonne from the inheritance of God.

17 Und deine Dienstmagd sprach: Möchte doch das Wort meines Herrn, des Königs, ihm Ruhe bringen; denn wie ein Engel Gottes so ist mein Herr, der König, daß er hört das Gute und das Böse; und Jehovah, dein Gott, sei mit dir!

Therefore thine handmaid sayd, The word of my lord the King shall now be comfortable: for my lorde the King is euen as an Angel of God in hearing of good and bad: therefore the Lord thy God be with thee.

18 Und der König antwortete und sprach zum Weibe: Verhehle mir doch nicht, das Wort, das ich dich frage. Und das Weib sprach: Es rede doch mein Herr, der König.

Then the King answered, and said vnto the woman, Hide not from me, I pray thee, the thing that I shall aske thee. And the woman sayde, Let my lord the King now speake.

19 Und der König sprach: Ist nicht bei alle dem Joabs Hand mit dir? Und das Weib antwortete und sprach: Beim Leben deiner Seele, mein Herr König, kein Mann kann bei allem, was mein Herr, der König, redet, zur Rechten oder Linken abweichen. Denn dein Knecht Joab ist es, der es mir geboten und alle diese Worte in den Mund deiner Dienstmagd gelegt hat.

And the King said, Is not the hand of Ioab with thee in all this? Then the woman answered, and sayd, As thy soule liueth, my lord the King, I will not turne to the right hande nor to the left, from ought that my lorde the King hath spoken: for euen thy seruant Ioab bade mee, and he put all these wordes in the mouth of thine handmayde.

20 Auf daß er diese Sache dahin umwende, hat dein Knecht Joab dies getan, und mein Herr ist weise, gleich der Weisheit eines Engels Gottes, daß er alles weiß, was auf Erden ist.

For to the intent that I should chage the forme of speach, thy seruant Ioab hath done this thing: but my lord is wise according to the wisdome of an Angel of God to vnderstande all things that are in the earth.

21 Und der König sprach zu Joab: Siehe doch, ich habe dies getan, so gehe denn hin und bringe den Jungen, den Absalom, zurück.

And the King sayde vnto Ioab, Beholde nowe, I haue done this thing: go then, and bring the yong man Absalom againe.

22 Und Joab fiel auf sein Angesicht zur Erde und betete an und segnete den König, und Joab sprach: Heute weiß dein Knecht, daß ich Gnade gefunden habe in deinen Augen, mein Herr König, weil der König getan nach dem Worte seines Knechtes.

And Ioab fell to the grounde on his face, and bowed himselfe, and thanked the King. Then Ioab sayde, This day thy seruant knoweth, that I haue found grace in thy sight, my lord the King, in that the King hath fulfilled the request of his seruant.

23 Und Joab machte sich auf und ging nach Geschur und brachte Absalom nach Jerusalem.

And Ioab arose, and went to Geshur, and brought Absalom to Ierusalem.

24 Und der König sprach: Er wende sich um nach seinem Hause, aber mein Angesicht soll er nicht sehen. Und Absalom wandte sich um nach seinem Hause und sah nicht das Angesicht des Königs.

And the King sayde, Let him turne to his owne house, and not see my face. So Absalom turned to his owne house, and saw not the Kings face.

25 Und es war kein Mann so schön als Absalom in ganz Israel, und darum sehr gelobt. Von der Sohle seines Fußes bis zum Scheitel war kein Fehl an ihm.

Nowe in all Israel there was none to be so much praysed for beautie as Absalom: from the sole of his foote euen to the toppe of his head there was no blemish in him.

26 Und wenn er sein Haupt beschor am Ende des Jahres, und das war jährlich, daß er sich schor, denn es ward zu schwer für ihn, daß man es scheren mußte, so wog das Haar seines Hauptes zweihundert Schekel nach dem Gewicht des Königs.

And when he polled his head, (for at euery yeeres ende he polled it: because it was too heauie for him, therefore he polled it) he weyghed the heare of his head at two hundreth shekels by the Kings weight.

27 Und dem Absalom wurden geboren drei Söhne und eine Tochter, und ihr Name war Thamar; sie war ein Weib schön von Aussehen.

And Absalom had three sonnes, and one daughter named Tamar, which was a fayre woman to looke vpon.

28 Und Absalom wohnte zwei Jahre in Jerusalem und sah nicht das Angesicht des Königs.

So Absalom dwelt the space of two yeres in Ierusalem, and saw not the Kings face.

29 Und Absalom sandte zu Joab, daß er ihn zum Könige sendete, aber er war nicht willens zu ihm zu kommen, und er sandte noch zum zweitenmal, und er war nicht willens, zu kommen.

Therefore Absalom sent for Ioab to sende him to the King, but he would not come to him: and when he sent againe, he would not come.

30 Und er sprach zu seinen Knechten: Sehet, Joabs Grundstück ist zu meiner Hand, und er hat Gerste darauf. Gehet hin und zündet es mit Feuer an. Und die Knechte Absaloms zündeten das Grundstück mit Feuer an.

Therefore he sayde vnto his seruants, Beholde, Ioab hath a fielde by my place, and hath barley therein: go, and set it on fire: and Absaloms seruants set the field on fire.

31 Und Joab machte sich auf und kam zu Absalom ins Haus und sprach zu ihm: Warum haben deine Knechte das Grundstück, das ich habe, mit Feuer angezündet?

Then Ioab arose, and came to Absalom vnto his house, and sayd vnto him, Wherefore haue thy seruants burnt my field with fire?

32 Und Absalom sprach zu Joab: Siehe, ich habe nach dir gesandt und dir sagen lassen: Komm her, daß ich dich zum König sende und ihm sagen lasse: Warum bin ich von Geschur gekommen? Mir wäre besser, wäre ich noch dort. Und nun will ich des Königs Angesicht sehen, und wenn eine Missetat an mir ist, so töte er mich.

And Absalom answered Ioab, Beholde, I sent for thee, saying, Come thou hither, and I wil send thee to the King for to say, Wherefore am I come from Geshur? It had bene better for me to haue bene there still: nowe therefore let mee see the Kings face: and if there be any trespasse in me, let him kill me.

33 Und Joab kam zum König und sagte es ihm an. Und er rief den Absalom, und er kam zum König und warf sich nieder vor dem Könige, mit dem Antlitz zur Erde, und der König küßte den Absalom.

Then Ioab came to the King, and told him: and he called for Absalom, who came to the King, and bowed himselfe to the grounde on his face before the King, and the King kissed Absalom.
