Psalm 90
1 Ein Gebet Moses, des Mannes Gottes. Herr, du bist unsre Zuflucht von Geschlecht zu Geschlecht!
Lord, you have been our dwelling place in all generations.
2 Ehe denn die Berge wurden und die Erde und die Welt geschaffen worden, bist du Gott von Ewigkeit zu Ewigkeit!
Before the mountains were brought forth, before even you had formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, you are God.
3 Du wandelst den Sterblichen in Staub und sprichst: Kehret zurück, ihr Menschenkinder!
You turn man to destruction; and say, Return, all of you children of men.
4 Denn tausend Jahre sind vor dir wie der gestrige Tag, der vergangen ist, und wie eine Nachtwache;
For a thousand years in your sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.
5 du lässest sie dahinfahren wie einen Strom, sie sind wie ein Schlaf am Morgen, wie das Gras, das aufsprießt,
You carry them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep: in the morning they are like grass which grows up.
6 das am Morgen blüht und grünt, am Abend welkt und verdorrt.
In the morning it flourishes, and grows up; in the evening it is cut down, and withers.
7 Denn wir werden aufgerieben durch deinen Zorn und schnell dahingerafft durch deinen Grimm.
For we are consumed by your anger, and by your wrath are we troubled.
8 Du hast unsre Missetaten vor dich hingestellt, unsre verborgenen Sünden in das Licht deines Angesichts.
You have set our iniquities before you, our secret sins in the light of your countenance.
9 Denn alle unsre Tage sind dahingeschwunden durch deinen Zorn, wir haben unsre Jahre zugebracht wie ein Geschwätz.
For all our days are passed away in your wrath: we spend our years as a tale that is told.
10 Unser Leben währt siebzig Jahre, und wenn es hoch kommt, so sind's achtzig Jahre, und worauf man stolz ist, das war Mühsal und Nichtigkeit; denn es fährt schnell dahin, als flögen wir davon.
The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.
11 Wer erkennt aber die Stärke deines Zorns, deinen Grimm so, wie er zu fürchten ist?
Who knows the power of your anger? even according to your fear, so is your wrath.
12 Lehre uns unsre Tage richtig zählen, daß wir ein weises Herz erlangen!
So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.
13 Kehre wieder, o HERR, (wie lange verziehst du?) und habe Mitleid mit deinen Knechten!
Return, O LORD, how long? and let it repent you concerning your servants.
14 Sättige uns frühe mit deiner Gnade, so wollen wir jubeln und fröhlich sein unser Leben lang.
O satisfy us early with your mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.
15 Erfreue uns so viele Tage, wie du uns beugtest, so viele Jahre, als wir Unglück sahen.
Make us glad according to the days wherein you have afflicted us, and the years wherein we have seen evil.
16 Zeige deinen Knechten dein Werk und deine Herrlichkeit ihren Kindern!
Let your work appear unto your servants, and your glory unto their children.
17 Und die Freundlichkeit des Herrn, unsres Gottes, sei über uns, und das Werk unsrer Hände ordne du für uns, ja, das Werk unsrer Hände ordne du!
And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: and establish you the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish you it.
