1 Geschlechtsregister Jesu, des Messias, des Sohnes Davids, des Sohnes Abrahams.
The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, son of David, son of Abraham.
2 Abraham zeugte Isaak zeugte Jakob; Jakob zeugte Juda und seine Brüder;
Abraham was the father of Isaac, and Isaac the father of Jacob, and Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers.
3 Juda zeugte Pharesz und Zara von der Thamar; Pharez zeugte Ersoff; Ersoff zeugte Arm;
Judah was the father of Perez and Zerah by Tamar, Perez the father of Hezron, and Hezron the father of Ram.
4 Arm zeugte Aminadob; Aminadab zeugte Nahasson; Nahasson zeugte Salmon;
Ram was the father of Amminadab, Amminadab the father of Nahshon, and Nahshon the father of Salmon.
5 Salmon zeugte Boas von der Rahab; Boas zeugte den Obed von der Ruth; Obed zeugte Jesse;
Salmon was the father of Boaz by Rahab, Boaz the father of Obed by Ruth, Obed the father of Jesse.
6 Jesse zeugte David, den König; David, der König, zeugte Salomon von dem Weibe Urias;
Jesse was the father of David the king, David the father of Solomon by the wife of Uriah.
7 Salomon zeugte Roboan; Roboan zeugte Abia; Abia zeugte Asa;
Solomon was the father of Rehoboam, Rehoboam the father of Abijah, Abijah the father of Asa.
8 Asa zeugte Josaphat; Josaphat zeugte Joram; Joram zeugte Osias;
Asa was the father of Jehoshaphat, Jehoshaphat the father of Joram, and Joram an ancestor of Uzziah.
9 Osias zeugte Joatham; Joatham zeugte Achas; Achas zeugte Ezechias;
Uzziah was the father of Jotham, Jotham the father of Ahaz, Ahaz the father of Hezekiah.
10 Ezechias zeugte Manasse; Manasse zeugte Amon; Amon zeugte Josias;
Hezekiah was the father of Manasseh, Manasseh the father of Amon, and Amon the father of Josiah.
11 Josias zeugte Jechonias und seine Brüder, zur Zeit der babylonischen Wegführung.
Josiah was an ancestor of Jechoniah and his brothers at the time of the deportation to Babylon.
12 Nach der babylonischen Wegführung zeugte Jechonias Saalthiel; Saalthiel zeugte Zorobabel;
After the deportation to Babylon, Jechoniah was the father of Shealtiel, Shealtiel was an ancestor of Zerubbabel.
13 Zorobabel zeugte Abiud; Abiud zeugte Eliakim zeugte Azor;
Zerubbabel was the father of Abiud, Abiud the father of Eliakim, and Eliakim the father of Azor.
14 Azor zeugte Zadok; Zadok zeugte Achim; Achim zeugte Elim;
Azor was the father of Zadok, Zadok the father of Achim, and Achim the father of Eliud.
15 Elim zeugte Eleazar; Eleazar zeugte Matthan; Matthan zeugte Jakob;
Eliud was the father of Eleazar, Eleazar the father of Matthan, and Matthan the father of Jacob.
16 Jakob zeugte Joseph, dem Mann der Maria, von welcher Jesus, genannt der Messias, geboren wurde.
Jacob was the father of Joseph the husband of Mary, by whom Jesus was born, who is called Christ.
17 Alle Geschlechter von Abraham bis auf David sind vierzehn Geschlechter; und von David bis zur babylonischen Wegführung vierzehn Geschlechter; und von der babylonischen Wegführung bis auf den Messias vierzehn Geschlechter.
All the generations from Abraham to David were fourteen generations, from David to the deportation to Babylon fourteen generations, and from the deportation to Babylon to the Christ fourteen generations.
18 Jesu, des Messias Geburt war aber also: Als nämlich seine Mutter Maria dem Joseph vertraut war, ehe sie zusammen kamen, ward sie schwanger erfunden von heiligem Geist.
The birth of Jesus Christ happened in the following way. His mother, Mary, was engaged to marry Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant by the Holy Spirit.
19 Joseph aber, ihr Mann war gerecht, und wollte sie nicht bloßstellen, sondern gedachte sie heimlich zu entlassen.
Her husband, Joseph, was a righteous man, and he did not want to disgrace her publicly. So he decided to secretly end his engagement with her.
20 Als er dieses im Sinne hatte, siehe, da erschien ihm der Engel des Herrn im Traum, und sprach: Joseph, Sohn Davids, fürchte dich nicht, Maria, dein Weib, zu dir zu nehmen; denn das in ihr Erzeugt ist von heiligem Geiste.
As he thought about these things, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, because the one who is conceived in her is conceived by the Holy Spirit.
21 Und sie wird einen Sohn gebären, dess´ Namen sollst du Jesus heißen, denn er wird seinem Volk helfen von ihren Sünden.
She will give birth to a son, and you will call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.”
22 Das alles geschah aber, damit erfüllt würde, das der Herr durch den Propheten gesagt hat, der da spricht:
All this happened to fulfill what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying,
23 "Siehe, die Jungfrau wird schwanger werden, und einen Sohn gebären, und sie werden seinen Namen Emmanuel heißen;" das ist übersetzt: Gott mit uns.
“Behold, the virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call his name Immanuel”—which means, “God with us.”
24 Da nun Joseph vom Schlafe erwacht war, tat er, wie ihm der Engel des Herrn befohlen hatte, und nahm sein Weib zu sich;
Joseph woke up from his sleep and did as the angel of the Lord commanded him and he took her as his wife.
25 Und erkannt sie nicht, bis sie ihren erstgeborenen Sohn geboren hatte, und nannte seinen Namen Jesus.
But he did not have sexual relations with her until she gave birth to a son. Then he called his name Jesus.
