Matthaeus 24
1 Jesus verließ dann den Tempel und wollte weitergehen; da traten seine Jünger zu ihm heran, um ihn auf den Prachtbau des Tempels aufmerksam zu machen.
And Jesus went out of the Temple, and on the way his disciples came to him, pointing out the buildings of the Temple.
2 Er aber antwortete ihnen mit den Worten: »Ja, jetzt seht ihr dies alles noch. Wahrlich ich sage euch: Es wird hier kein Stein auf dem andern bleiben, der nicht niedergerissen wird!«
But he, answering, said to them, See you not all these things? truly I say to you that here there will not be one stone resting on another, which will not be pulled down.
3 Als er sich dann auf dem Ölberg niedergesetzt hatte, traten die Jünger, als sie für sich allein waren, an ihn mit der Bitte heran: »Sage uns doch: wann wird dies geschehen? Und welches ist das Zeichen deiner Ankunft und der Vollendung der Weltzeit?« (aiōn g165)
And while he was seated on the Mountain of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, Make clear to us, when will these things be? and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the world? (aiōn g165)
4 Jesus antwortete ihnen: »Sehet euch vor, daß niemand euch irreführe!
And Jesus said to them in answer, Take care that you are not tricked.
5 Denn viele werden unter meinem Namen kommen und behaupten: ›Ich bin der (wiederkehrende) Christus‹, und werden viele irreführen.
For people will come in my name, saying, I am the Christ; and a number will be turned from the true way through them.
6 Ihr werdet ferner von Kriegen und Kriegsgerüchten hören: gebt acht, laßt euch dadurch nicht erschrecken! Denn das muß so kommen, ist aber noch nicht das Ende.
And news will come to you of wars and talk of wars: do not be troubled, for these things have to be; but it is still not the end.
7 Denn ein Volk wird sich gegen das andere erheben und ein Reich gegen das andere; auch Hungersnöte werden eintreten und Erdbeben hier und da stattfinden;
For nation will be moved against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and men will be without food, and the earth will be shaking in different places;
8 dies alles ist aber erst der Anfang der Wehen.«
But all these things are the first of the troubles.
9 »Hierauf wird man schwere Drangsale über euch bringen und euch töten, und ihr werdet allen Völkern um meines Namens willen verhaßt sein.
Then they will be cruel to you, and will put you to death: and you will be hated by all nations because of my name.
10 Alsdann werden viele Anstoß nehmen und sich einander ausliefern und einander hassen.
And numbers of people will be turned from the right way, and will give one another up and have hate for one another.
11 Auch falsche Propheten werden in großer Zahl auftreten und viele irreführen;
And a number of false prophets will come, causing error.
12 und weil die Gesetzlosigkeit überhand nimmt, wird die Liebe in den meisten erkalten;
And because wrongdoing will be increased, the love of most people will become cold.
13 wer jedoch bis ans Ende ausharrt, der wird gerettet werden.
But he who goes through to the end will get salvation.
14 Und diese Heilsbotschaft vom Reich wird auf dem ganzen Erdkreis allen Völkern zum Zeugnis gepredigt werden, und dann wird das Ende kommen.«
And this good news of the kingdom will be given through all the world for a witness to all nations; and then the end will come.
15 »Wenn ihr nun den Greuel der Verwüstung, der vom Propheten Daniel angesagt worden ist, an heiliger Stätte stehen seht – der Leser merke auf! –,
When, then, you see in the holy place the unclean thing which makes destruction, of which word was given by Daniel the prophet (let this be clear to the reader),
16 dann sollen die (Gläubigen), die in Judäa sind, ins Gebirge fliehen!
Then let those who are in Judaea go in flight to the mountains:
17 Wer sich alsdann auf dem Dache befindet, steige nicht erst noch hinab (ins Haus), um seine Habseligkeiten aus dem Hause zu holen;
Let not him who is on the house-top go down to take anything out of his house:
18 und wer auf dem Felde weilt, kehre nicht zurück, um sich noch seinen Mantel zu holen.
And let not him who is in the field go back to get his coat.
19 Wehe aber den Frauen, die guter Hoffnung sind, und denen, die ein Kind in jenen Tagen zu nähren haben!
But it will be hard for women who are with child and for those with babies at the breast in those days.
20 Betet nur, daß eure Flucht nicht in den Winter oder auf den Sabbat falle!
And say a prayer that your flight may not be in the winter, or on a Sabbath.
21 Denn es wird alsdann eine schlimme Drangsalszeit eintreten, wie noch keine seit Anfang der Welt bis jetzt dagewesen ist und wie auch keine wieder kommen wird;
Because in those days there will be great sorrow, such as there has not been from the start of the world till now, or ever will be.
22 und wenn jene Tage nicht verkürzt würden, so würde kein Fleisch gerettet werden; aber um der Auserwählten willen werden jene Tage verkürzt werden.«
And if those days had not been made short there would have been no salvation for any, but because of the saints those days will be made short.
23 »Wenn dann jemand zu euch sagt: ›Seht, hier ist Christus!‹ oder: ›Dort (ist er)!‹, so glaubt es nicht!
Then if any man says to you, See, here is the Christ, or, Here; do not put faith in him;
24 Denn es werden falsche Christusse und falsche Propheten auftreten und werden große Zeichen und Wunder verrichten, um womöglich auch die Auserwählten irrezuführen.
For there will come up false Christs, and false prophets, who will do great signs and wonders; so that if possible even the saints might be tricked.
25 Seht, ich habe es euch vorhergesagt. Wenn man also zu euch sagt:
See, I have made it clear to you before it comes about.
26 ›Seht, er ist in der Wüste!‹, so geht nicht hinaus; und (sagt man: ) ›Seht, er ist in den Gemächern (dieses oder jenes Hauses)!‹, so glaubt es nicht!
If, then, they say to you, See, he is in the waste land; go not out: See, he is in the inner rooms; put no faith in it.
27 Denn wie der Blitz vom Osten ausgeht und bis zum Westen leuchtet, so wird es auch mit der Ankunft des Menschensohnes sein;
Because as in a thunderstorm the bright light coming from the east is seen even in the west; so will be the coming of the Son of man.
28 denn wo das Aas liegt, da sammeln sich die Geier.«
Wherever the dead body is, there will the eagles come together.
29 »Sogleich aber nach jener Drangsalszeit wird die Sonne sich verfinstern und der Mond seinen Schein verlieren; die Sterne werden vom Himmel fallen und die Kräfte des Himmels in Erschütterung geraten.
But straight away, after the trouble of those days, the sun will be made dark and the moon will not give her light and the stars will come down from heaven and the powers of heaven will be moved:
30 Und dann wird das Zeichen des Menschensohnes am Himmel erscheinen, und dann werden alle Geschlechter der Erde wehklagen und werden den Menschensohn auf den Wolken des Himmels mit großer Macht und Herrlichkeit kommen sehen.
And then the sign of the Son of man will be seen in heaven: and then all the nations of the earth will have sorrow, and they will see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
31 Und er wird seine Engel unter lautem Posaunenschall aussenden, und sie werden seine Auserwählten von den vier Windrichtungen her versammeln, von dem einen Himmelsende bis zum andern.
And he will send out his angels with a great sound of a horn, and they will get his saints together from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
32 Vom Feigenbaum aber mögt ihr das Gleichnis lernen: Sobald seine Zweige saftig werden und Blätter hervorwachsen, so erkennt ihr daran, daß der Sommer nahe ist.
Now take an example from the fig-tree: when her branch has become soft and puts out its leaves, you are certain that the summer is near;
33 So auch ihr: wenn ihr dies alles seht, so erkennet daran, daß es nahe vor der Tür steht.
Even so, when you see all these things, you may be certain that he is near, even at the doors.
34 Wahrlich ich sage euch: Dieses Geschlecht wird nicht vergehen, bis dies alles geschieht.
Truly I say to you, This generation will not come to an end till all these things are complete.
35 Himmel und Erde werden vergehen, meine Worte aber werden nimmermehr vergehen.
Heaven and earth will come to an end, but my words will not come to an end.
36 Von jenem Tage aber und von jener Stunde hat niemand Kenntnis, auch die Engel im Himmel nicht, auch der Sohn nicht, sondern ganz allein der Vater.
But of that day and hour no one has knowledge, not even the angels in heaven, or the Son, but the Father only.
37 Denn wie es einst mit den Tagen Noahs gewesen ist, so wird es auch mit der Wiederkunft des Menschensohnes sein.
And as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of man.
38 Denn wie sie es in den Tagen vor der Sintflut gehalten haben: sie aßen und tranken, sie heirateten und verheirateten (ihre Töchter) bis zu dem Tage, als Noah in die Arche ging,
Because as in those days before the overflowing of the waters, they were feasting and taking wives and getting married, till the day when Noah went into the ark,
39 und wie sie nichts merkten, bis die Sintflut kam und alle hinwegraffte, ebenso wird es auch mit der Zeit der Ankunft des Menschensohnes der Fall sein.
And they had no care till the waters came and took them all away; so will be the coming of the Son of man.
40 Da werden zwei (Männer zusammen) auf dem Felde sein: der eine wird angenommen, der andere zurückgelassen;
Then two men will be in the field; one is taken, and one let go;
41 zwei (Frauen) werden (zusammen) an der Handmühle mahlen: die eine wird angenommen, die andere zurückgelassen.«
Two women will be crushing grain; one is taken, and one let go.
42 »Seid also wachsam, denn ihr wißt nicht, an welchem Tage der Herr kommt.
Be watching, then! for you have no knowledge on what day your Lord will come.
43 Das aber seht ihr ein: Wenn der Hausherr wüßte, in welcher Stunde der Nacht der Dieb kommt, so würde er wach bleiben und keinen Einbruch in sein Haus zulassen.
But be certain of this, that if the master of the house had had knowledge of the time when the thief was coming, he would have been watching, and would not have let his house be broken into.
44 Deshalb haltet auch ihr euch bereit; denn der Menschensohn kommt zu einer Stunde, wo ihr es nicht vermutet.«
Be ready then; for at a time which you have no thought of the Son of man will come.
45 »Wer ist demnach der treue und kluge Knecht, den sein Herr über seine Dienerschaft gesetzt hat, damit er ihnen die Speise zu rechter Zeit gebe?
Who is the true and wise servant, whom his lord has put over those in his house, to give them their food at the right time?
46 Selig ist ein solcher Knecht (zu preisen), den sein Herr bei seiner Rückkehr in solcher Tätigkeit antrifft.
A blessing on that servant, who will be doing so when his lord comes.
47 Wahrlich ich sage euch: Er wird ihn über seine sämtlichen Güter setzen.
Truly, I say to you, he will put him over all he has.
48 Wenn aber ein solcher Knecht schlecht ist und in seinem Herzen denkt: ›Mein Herr kommt noch lange nicht!‹,
But if that evil servant says in his heart, My lord is a long time in coming;
49 und wenn er seine Mitknechte zu schlagen beginnt und mit den Trunkenen ißt und trinkt,
And is cruel to the other servants, taking his pleasure with those who are overcome with wine;
50 so wird der Herr eines solchen Knechts an einem Tage kommen, an dem er es nicht erwartet, und zu einer Stunde, die er nicht kennt,
The lord of that servant will come in a day when he is not looking for him, and in an hour of which he has no knowledge,
51 und er wird ihn zerhauen lassen und ihm seinen Platz bei den Heuchlern anweisen: dort wird lautes Weinen und Zähneknirschen sein.«
And will have him cut in two, and will give him a part in the fate of the false ones: there will be weeping and cries of sorrow.
