Matthaeus 10
1 Er rief dann seine zwölf Jünger herbei und verlieh ihnen Macht über die unreinen Geister, so daß sie diese auszutreiben und alle Krankheiten und jedes Gebrechen zu heilen vermochten.
And he called unto him his twelve disciples, and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of disease and all manner of sickness.
2 Die Namen der zwölf Apostel aber sind folgende: Zuerst Simon, der auch Petrus heißt, und sein Bruder Andreas; sodann Jakobus, der Sohn des Zebedäus, und sein Bruder Johannes;
Now the names of the twelve apostles are these: The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the [son] of Zebedee, and John his brother;
3 Philippus und Bartholomäus; Thomas und der Zöllner Matthäus; Jakobus, der Sohn des Alphäus, und Lebbäus (mit dem Beinamen Thaddäus);
Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the [son] of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus;
4 Simon, der Kananäer und Judas, der Iskariote, derselbe, der ihn verraten hat.
Simon the Cananaean, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.
5 Diese Zwölf sandte Jesus aus, nachdem er ihnen folgende Weisungen gegeben hatte: »Den Weg zu den Heidenvölkern schlagt nicht ein und tretet auch in keine Samariterstadt ein,
These twelve Jesus sent forth, and charged them, saying, Go not into [any] way of the Gentiles, and enter not into any city of the Samaritans:
6 geht vielmehr (nur) zu den verlorenen Schafen des Hauses Israel.
but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
7 Auf eurer Wanderung predigt: ›Das Himmelreich ist nahe herbeigekommen!‹
And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.
8 Heilt Kranke, weckt Tote auf, macht Aussätzige rein, treibt böse Geister aus: umsonst habt ihr’s empfangen, umsonst sollt ihr’s auch weitergeben!
Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out devils: freely ye received, freely give.
9 Sucht euch kein Gold, kein Silber, kein Kupfergeld in eure Gürtel zu verschaffen,
Get you no gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses;
10 nehmt keinen Ranzen mit auf den Weg, auch nicht zwei Röcke, keine Schuhe und keinen Stock, denn der Arbeiter ist seines Unterhalts wert.
no wallet for [your] journey, neither two coats, nor shoes, nor staff: for the labourer is worthy of his food.
11 Wo ihr in eine Stadt oder ein Dorf eintretet, da erkundigt euch, wer dort würdig sei (euch zu beherbergen), und bei dem bleibt, bis ihr weiterzieht.
And into whatsoever city or village ye shall enter, search out who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go forth.
12 Beim Eintritt in das Haus entbietet ihm den Friedensgruß,
And as ye enter into the house, salute it.
13 und wenn das Haus es verdient, soll der Friede, den ihr ihm gewünscht habt, ihm auch zuteil werden; ist es dessen aber nicht würdig, so soll euer ihm gewünschter Friede zu euch zurückkehren.
And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you.
14 Wo man euch nicht aufnimmt und euren Worten kein Gehör schenkt, da geht aus dem betreffenden Hause oder Orte hinaus und schüttelt den Staub von euren Füßen ab!
And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, as ye go forth out of that house or that city, shake off the dust of your feet.
15 Wahrlich ich sage euch: Dem Lande Sodom und Gomorrha wird es am Tage des Gerichts erträglicher ergehen als einer solchen Stadt!
Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment, than for that city.
16 Bedenket wohl: ich sende euch wie Schafe mitten unter Wölfe; darum seid klug wie die Schlangen und ohne Falsch wie die Tauben!«
Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.
17 »Nehmt euch aber vor den Menschen in acht! Denn sie werden euch vor die Gerichtshöfe stellen und in ihren Synagogen euch geißeln;
But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to councils, and in their synagogues they will scourge you;
18 auch vor Statthalter und Könige werdet ihr um meinetwillen geführt werden, um Zeugnis vor ihnen und den Heidenvölkern abzulegen.
yea and before governors and kings shall ye be brought for my sake, for a testimony to them and to the Gentiles.
19 Wenn man euch nun (den Gerichten) überliefert, so macht euch keine Sorge darüber, wie oder was ihr reden sollt; denn es wird euch in jener Stunde eingegeben werden, was ihr reden sollt;
But when they deliver you up, be not anxious how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that hour what ye shall speak.
20 nicht ihr seid es ja, die dann reden, sondern der Geist eures Vaters ist es, der in euch redet.
For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father that speaketh in you.
21 Es wird aber ein Bruder den Bruder zum Tode überliefern und ein Vater den Sohn, und Kinder werden gegen ihre Eltern auftreten und sie zum Tode bringen,
And brother shall deliver up brother to death, and the father his child: and children shall rise up against parents, and cause them to be put to death.
22 und ihr werdet allen um meines Namens willen verhaßt sein; wer aber ausharrt bis ans Ende, der wird errettet werden.
And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that endureth to the end, the same shall be saved.
23 Wenn man euch aber in der einen Stadt verfolgt, so flieht in eine andere; denn wahrlich ich sage euch: Ihr werdet mit den Städten Israels noch nicht zu Ende sein, bis der Menschensohn kommt. –
But when they persecute you in this city, flee into the next: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone through the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come.
24 Ein Jünger steht nicht über seinem Meister und ein Knecht nicht über seinem Herrn;
A disciple is not above his master, nor a servant above his lord.
25 ein Jünger muß zufrieden sein, wenn es ihm ergeht wie seinem Meister, und ein Knecht, (wenn es ihm ergeht) wie seinem Herrn. Haben sie den Hausherrn Beelzebul genannt, wieviel mehr werden sie das bei seinen Hausgenossen tun!«
It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more [shall they call] them of his household!
26 »Fürchtet euch nicht vor ihnen! Denn nichts ist verhüllt, das nicht enthüllt werden wird, und nichts verborgen, das nicht bekannt werden wird.
Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.
27 Was ich euch im Dunkel sage, das sprecht im Licht aus, und was ihr (von mir) ins Ohr geflüstert hört, das ruft auf den Dächern aus!
What I tell you in the darkness, speak ye in the light: and what ye hear in the ear, proclaim upon the housetops.
28 Fürchtet euch dabei nicht vor denen, die wohl den Leib töten, aber die Seele nicht zu töten vermögen; fürchtet euch vielmehr vor dem, der die Macht hat, sowohl die Seele als den Leib in der Hölle zu verderben! – (Geenna g1067)
And be not afraid of them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. (Geenna g1067)
29 Kosten nicht zwei Sperlinge beim Einkauf nur ein paar Pfennige? Und doch fällt keiner von ihnen auf die Erde ohne den Willen eures Vaters.
Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and not one of them shall fall on the ground without your Father:
30 Bei euch aber sind auch die Haare auf dem Haupte alle gezählt.
but the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
31 Darum fürchtet euch nicht! Ihr seid mehr wert als viele Sperlinge. –
Fear not therefore; ye are of more value than many sparrows.
32 Jeder nun, der sich vor den Menschen zu mir bekennt, zu dem werde auch ich mich vor meinem himmlischen Vater bekennen;
Every one therefore who shall confess me before men, him will I also confess before my Father which is in heaven.
33 wer mich aber vor den Menschen verleugnet, den werde auch ich vor meinem himmlischen Vater verleugnen.«
But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.
34 »Denkt nicht, ich sei gekommen, um Frieden auf die Erde zu bringen! Nein, ich bin nicht gekommen, um Frieden zu bringen, sondern das Schwert.
Think not that I came to send peace on the earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
35 Denn ich bin gekommen, ›um den Sohn mit seinem Vater, die Tochter mit ihrer Mutter und die Schwiegertochter mit ihrer Schwiegermutter zu entzweien,
For I came to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law:
36 und die eigenen Hausgenossen werden einander feindselig gegenüberstehen‹.
and a man’s foes [shall be] they of his own household.
37 Wer Vater oder Mutter mehr liebt als mich, ist meiner nicht wert, und wer Sohn oder Tochter mehr liebt als mich, ist meiner nicht wert;
He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.
38 und wer nicht sein Kreuz auf sich nimmt und mir nachfolgt, ist meiner nicht wert. –
And he that doth not take his cross and follow after me, is not worthy of me.
39 Wer sein Leben findet, wird es verlieren, und wer sein Leben um meinetwillen verliert, der wird es finden.«
He that findeth his life shall lose it; and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.
40 »Wer euch aufnimmt, nimmt mich auf, und wer mich aufnimmt, nimmt den auf, der mich gesandt hat.
He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.
41 Wer einen Propheten aufnimmt, eben weil er ein Prophet heißt, der wird dafür den Lohn eines Propheten empfangen; und wer einen Gerechten aufnimmt, eben weil er ein Gerechter heißt, der wird dafür den Lohn eines Gerechten empfangen;
He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward.
42 und wer einem von diesen geringen Leuten seines Namens wegen, weil er ein Jünger heißt, auch nur einen Becher frischen Wassers zu trinken gibt – wahrlich ich sage euch: Es soll ihm nicht unbelohnt bleiben!«
And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only, in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.
