Jona 2
1 Da richtete Jona aus dem Leibe des Fisches folgendes Gebet an den HERRN, seinen Gott:
Jonah prayed to the Lord his God, out of the belly of the fish,
2 »Gerufen habe ich aus meiner Bedrängnis zum HERRN, da hat er mich erhört; aus dem Schoß der Unterwelt habe ich um Hilfe geschrien, da hast du mein Rufen vernommen. (Sheol h7585)
and said: I cried out of my distress, to the Lord and he answered me; out of the midst of Sheol I cried aloud, and you heard my voice. (Sheol h7585)
3 Denn du hattest mich in die Tiefe geschleudert, mitten ins Meer hinein, so daß die Fluten mich umschlossen; alle deine Wogen und Wellen fuhren über mich dahin.
For you cast me into the deep, into heart of the seas, and the great flood rolled about me; all your breakers and your waves passed over me.
4 Schon dachte ich: ›Verstoßen bin ich, hinweg von deinem Angesicht: wie könnte ich je wieder nach deinem heiligen Tempel schauen?‹
Then I said, I am driven out, away from your sight; How will I ever again look towards your holy temple?
5 Die Wasser umgaben mich und gingen mir bis an die Seele; die Tiefe umfing mich, Seegras hatte sich mir ums Haupt geschlungen;
The waters surrounded me, the great deep engulfed me, the sea weeds were wrapped about my head.
6 zu den Wurzeln der Berge war ich hinabgefahren; die Riegel der Erde hatten sich auf ewig hinter mir geschlossen: – da hast du mein Leben aus der Grube heraufgeholt, HERR, mein Gott!
I went down to the roots of the mountains; the prison of the earth closed over me forever. Yet you brought up my life from destruction, O Lord my God.
7 Als meine Seele in mir verzagte, da gedachte ich des HERRN, und zu dir drang mein Gebet, zu deinem heiligen Tempel.
As my life slipped away, I remembered the Lord; and my prayer reached you, in your holy temple.
8 Die sich an nichtige Götzen halten, verlassen den, bei welchem das Heil für sie liegt.
Those who worship worthless idols abandon their own mercy,
9 Ich aber will dir laute Danksagung als Opfer darbringen, will, was ich gelobt habe, bezahlen: die Rettung kommt vom HERRN!«
but I will sacrifice to you with loud thanksgiving! I will pay that which I have vowed. Salvation is the Lord’s.
10 Hierauf gebot der HERR dem Fisch, und dieser spie Jona ans Land aus.
And the Lord spoke to the fish, and it threw up Jonah upon the dry land.
