Psalm 59
1 Ein gülden Kleinod Davids, daß er nicht umkäme, da Saul hinsandte und ließ sein Haus verwahren, daß er ihn tötete. Errette mich, mein Gott, von meinen Feinden und schütze mich vor denen, die sich wider mich setzen.
For the chief musician; set to Al Tashheth. A psalm of David. A michtam; when Saul sent, and they watched the house to kill him. Rescue me from my enemies, my God; set me on high away from those who rise up against me.
2 Errette mich von den Übeltätern und hilf mir von den Blutgierigen.
Keep me safe from the workers of iniquity, and save me from the bloodthirsty men.
3 Denn siehe, HERR, sie lauern auf meine Seele; die Starken sammeln sich wider mich ohne meine Schuld und Missetat.
For, see, they wait in ambush to take my life. The powerful men gather themselves together against me, but not because of my transgression or my sin, Yahweh.
4 Sie laufen ohne meine Schuld und bereiten sich. Erwache und begegne mir und siehe drein.
They prepare to run at me although I am without fault; awake and help me and see.
5 Du, HERR, Gott Zebaoth, Gott Israels, wache auf und suche heim alle Heiden; sei der keinem gnädig, die so verwegene Übeltäter sind. (Sela)
You, Yahweh God of hosts, the God of Israel, arise and punish all the nations; do not be merciful to any wicked transgressors. (Selah)
6 Des Abends heulen sie wiederum wie die Hunde und laufen in der Stadt umher.
They return at evening, they howl like dogs and go around the city.
7 Siehe, sie plaudern miteinander; Schwerter sind in ihren Lippen: “Wer sollte es hören?”
See, they belch out with their mouths; swords are in their lips, for they say, “Who hears us?”
8 Aber du, HERR, wirst ihrer lachen und aller Heiden spotten.
But you, Yahweh, laugh at them; you hold all the nations in derision.
9 Vor ihrer Macht halte ich mich zu dir; denn Gott ist mein Schutz.
God, my strength, I will pay attention to you; you are my high tower.
10 Gott erzeigt mir reichlich seine Güte; Gott läßt mich meine Lust sehen an meinen Feinden.
My God will meet me with his covenant faithfulness; God will let me see my desire on my enemies.
11 Erwürge sie nicht, daß es mein Volk nicht vergesse; zerstreue sie aber mit deiner Macht, Herr, unser Schild, und stoße sie hinunter!
Do not kill them, or my people will forget. Scatter them by your power and make them fall, Lord our shield.
12 Das Wort ihrer Lippen ist eitel Sünde, darum müssen sie gefangen werden in ihrer Hoffart; denn sie reden eitel Fluchen und Lügen.
For the sins of their mouths and the words of their lips, let them be captured in their pride, and for the curses and lies that they express.
13 Vertilge sie ohne alle Gnade; vertilge sie, daß sie nichts seien und innewerden, daß Gott Herrscher sei in Jakob, in aller Welt. (Sela)
Consume them in wrath, consume them so that they will be no more; let them know that God rules in Jacob and to the ends of the earth. (Selah)
14 Des Abends heulen sie wiederum wie die Hunde und laufen in der Stadt umher.
At evening they return, howling like dogs going around the city.
15 Sie laufen hin und her um Speise und murren, wenn sie nicht satt werden.
They wander about looking for food and they growl like a dog if they are not satisfied.
16 Ich aber will von deiner Macht singen und des Morgens rühmen deine Güte; denn du bist mir Schutz und Zuflucht in meiner Not.
But I will sing about your strength, and in the morning I will sing about your steadfast love! For you have been my high tower and a refuge in the day of my distress.
17 Ich will dir, mein Hort, lobsingen; denn du, Gott, bist mein Schutz und mein gnädiger Gott.
To you, my strength, I will sing praises; for God is my high tower, the God of covenant faithfulness.
