Psalm 147
1 Lobet den HERRN! denn unsern Gott loben, das ist ein köstlich Ding; solch Lob ist lieblich und schön.
Halleluyah ·praise Yah·, for it is good to sing tehilahot ·praise songs· to our God; for it is pleasant and fitting to make zahmar ·musical praise· unto him.
2 Der HERR baut Jerusalem und bringt zusammen die Verjagten Israels.
Adonai builds up Jerusalem [City of peace]. He gathers together the outcasts of Israel [God prevails].
3 Er heilt, die zerbrochnes Herzens sind, und verbindet ihre Schmerzen.
He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds.
4 Er zählt die Sterne und nennt sie alle mit Namen.
He counts the number of the stars. He calls them all by their names.
5 Der HERR ist groß und von großer Kraft; und ist unbegreiflich, wie er regiert.
Great is our Lord, and mighty in power. His understanding is infinite.
6 Der Herr richtet auf die Elenden und stößt die Gottlosen zu Boden.
Adonai upholds the humble. He brings the wicked down to the ground.
7 Singet umeinander dem HERRN mit Dank und lobet unsern Gott mit Harfen,
Sing to Adonai with thanksgiving. Sing zahmar ·musical praise· on the harp to our God,
8 der den Himmel mit Wolken verdeckt und gibt Regen auf Erden; der Gras auf Bergen wachsen läßt;
who covers the sky with clouds, who prepares rain for the earth, who makes grass grow on the mountains.
9 der dem Vieh sein Futter gibt, den jungen Raben, die ihn anrufen.
He provides food for the livestock, and for the young ravens when they call.
10 Er hat nicht Lust an der Stärke des Rosses noch Gefallen an eines Mannes Schenkeln.
He does not delight in the strength of the horse. He takes no pleasure in the legs of a man.
11 Der HERR hat Gefallen an denen, die ihn fürchten, die auf seine Güte hoffen.
Adonai takes pleasure in those who fear him, in those who hope in his cheshed ·loving-kindness·.
12 Preise, Jerusalem, den HERRN; lobe Zion, deinen Gott!
Praise Adonai, Jerusalem [City of peace]! Praise your God, Zion [Mountain ridge, Marking]!
13 Denn er macht fest die Riegel deiner Tore und segnet deine Kinder drinnen.
For he has strengthened the bars of your gates. He has blessed your children within you.
14 Er schafft deinen Grenzen Frieden und sättigt dich mit dem besten Weizen.
He makes peace in your borders. He fills you with the finest of the wheat.
15 Er sendet seine Rede auf Erden; sein Wort läuft schnell.
He sends his word out over the earth. His word runs very swiftly.
16 Er gibt Schnee wie Wolle, er streut Reif wie Asche.
He gives snow like wool, and scatters frost like ashes.
17 Er wirft seine Schloßen wie Bissen; wer kann bleiben vor seinem Frost?
He hurls down his hail like pebbles. Who can stand before his cold?
18 Er spricht, so zerschmilzt es; er läßt seinen Wind wehen, so taut es auf.
He sends out his word, and melts them. He causes his wind to blow, and the waters flow.
19 Er zeigt Jakob sein Wort, Israel seine Sitten und Rechte.
He shows his word to Jacob [Supplanter]; his statutes and his judgments to Israel [God prevails].
20 So tut er keinen Heiden, noch läßt er sie wissen seine Rechte. Halleluja!
He has not done this for just any nation. They don’t know his judgments. Halleluyah ·praise Yah·!
