Matthaeus 9
1 Da trat er in das Schiff und fuhr wieder herüber und kam in seine Stadt.
And going on board the ship, he passed over and came to his own city.
2 Und siehe, da brachten sie zu ihm einen Gichtbrüchigen, der lag auf einem Bette. Da nun Jesus ihren Glauben sah, sprach er zu dem Gichtbrüchigen: Sei getrost, mein Sohn; deine Sünden sind dir vergeben.
And behold, they brought to him a paralytic, laid upon a bed; and Jesus, seeing their faith, said to the paralytic, Be of good courage, child; thy sins are forgiven.
3 Und siehe, etliche unter den Schriftgelehrten sprachen bei sich selbst: Dieser lästert Gott.
And behold, certain of the scribes said to themselves, This [man] blasphemes.
4 Da aber Jesus ihre Gedanken sah, sprach er: Warum denket ihr so Arges in euren Herzen?
And Jesus, seeing their thoughts, said, Why do ye think evil things in your hearts?
5 Welches ist leichter zu sagen: Dir sind deine Sünden vergeben, oder zu sagen: Stehe auf und wandele?
For which is easier: to say, Thy sins are forgiven; or to say, Rise up and walk?
6 Auf daß ihr aber wisset, daß des Menschen Sohn Macht habe auf Erden, die Sünden zu vergeben, sprach er zu dem Gichtbrüchigen: Stehe auf, heb' dein Bett auf und gehe heim!
But that ye may know that the Son of man has power on earth to forgive sins, (then he says to the paralytic, ) Rise up, take up thy bed and go to thy house.
7 Und er stund auf und ging heim.
And he rose up and went to his house.
8 Da das Volk das sah, verwunderte es sich und preisete Gott, der solche Macht den Menschen gegeben hat.
But the crowds seeing [it], were in fear, and glorified God who gave such power to men.
9 Und da Jesus von dannen ging, sah er einen Menschen am Zoll sitzen, der hieß Matthäus, und sprach zu ihm: Folge mir! Und er stund auf und folgete ihm.
And Jesus, passing on thence, saw a man sitting at the tax-office, called Matthew, and says to him, Follow me. And he rose up and followed him.
10 Und es begab sich, da er zu Tische saß im Hause, siehe, da kamen viel Zöllner und Sünder und saßen zu Tische mit Jesu und seinen Jüngern.
And it came to pass, as he lay at table in the house, that behold, many tax-gatherers and sinners came and lay at table with Jesus and his disciples.
11 Da das die Pharisäer sahen, sprachen sie zu seinen Jüngern: Warum isset euer Meister mit den Zöllnern und Sündern?
And the Pharisees seeing [it], said to his disciples, Why does your teacher eat with tax-gatherers and sinners?
12 Da das Jesus hörete, sprach er zu ihnen: Die Starken bedürfen des Arztes nicht, sondern die Kranken.
But [Jesus] hearing it, said, They that are strong have not need of a physician, but those that are ill.
13 Gehet aber hin und lernet, was das sei: Ich habe Wohlgefallen an Barmherzigkeit und nicht am Opfer. Ich bin kommen, die Sünder zur Buße zu rufen und nicht die Frommen.
But go and learn what [that] is — I will have mercy and not sacrifice; for I have not come to call righteous [men] but sinners.
14 Indes kamen die Jünger Johannes zu ihm und sprachen: Warum fasten wir und die Pharisäer so viel, und deine Jünger fasten nicht?
Then come to him the disciples of John, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees often fast, but thy disciples fast not?
15 Jesus sprach zu ihnen: Wie können die Hochzeitleute Leid tragen, solange der Bräutigam bei ihnen ist? Es wird aber die Zeit kommen, daß der Bräutigam von ihnen genommen wird; alsdann werden sie fasten.
And Jesus said to them, Can the sons of the bridechamber mourn so long as the bridegroom is with them? But days will come when the bridegroom will have been taken away from them, and then they will fast.
16 Niemand flickt ein alt Kleid mit einem Lappen von neuem Tuch; denn der Lappen reißet doch wieder vom Kleid, und der Riß wird ärger.
But no one puts a patch of new cloth on an old garment, for its filling up takes from the garment and a worse rent takes place.
17 Man fasset auch nicht Most in alte Schläuche; anders die Schläuche zerreißen, und der Most wird verschüttet, und die Schläuche kommen um. Sondern man fasset Most in neue Schläuche, so werden sie beide miteinander behalten.
Nor do men put new wine into old skins, otherwise the skins burst and the wine is poured out, and the skins will be destroyed; but they put new wine into new skins, and both are preserved together.
18 Da er solches mit ihnen redete, siehe, da kam der Obersten einer und fiel vor ihm nieder und sprach: HERR, meine Tochter ist jetzt gestorben; aber komm und lege deine Hand auf sie, so wird sie lebendig.
As he spoke these things to them, behold, a ruler coming in did homage to him, saying, My daughter has by this died; but come and lay thy hand upon her and she shall live.
19 Und Jesus stund auf und folgete ihm nach und seine Jünger.
And Jesus rose up and followed him, and [so did] his disciples.
20 Und siehe, ein Weib, das zwölf Jahre den Blutgang gehabt, trat von hinten zu ihm und rührete seines Kleides Saum an.
And behold, a woman, who had had a bloody flux [for] twelve years, came behind and touched the hem of his garment;
21 Denn sie sprach bei sich selbst: Möcht' ich nur sein Kleid anrühren, so würde ich gesund.
for she said within herself, If I should only touch his garment I shall be healed.
22 Da wandte sich Jesus um und sah sie und sprach: Sei getrost, meine Tochter; dein Glaube hat dir geholfen. Und das Weib ward gesund zu derselbigen Stunde.
But Jesus turning and seeing her, said, Be of good courage, daughter; thy faith has healed thee. And the woman was healed from that hour.
23 Und als er in des Obersten Haus kam und sah die Pfeifer und das Getümmel des Volks,
And when Jesus was come to the house of the ruler, and saw the flute-players and the crowd making a tumult,
24 sprach er zu ihnen: Weichet! denn das Mägdlein ist nicht tot, sondern es schläft. Und sie verlachten ihn.
he said, Withdraw, for the damsel is not dead, but sleeps. And they derided him.
25 Als aber das Volk ausgetrieben war, ging er hinein und ergriff sie bei der Hand. Da stund das Mägdlein auf.
But when the crowd had been put out, he went in and took her hand; and the damsel rose up.
26 Und dies Gerücht erscholl in dasselbige ganze Land.
And the fame of it went out into all that land.
27 Und da Jesus von dannen fürbaß ging, folgeten ihm zwei Blinde nach, die schrieen und sprachen: Ach, du Sohn Davids, erbarme dich unser!
And as Jesus passed on thence, two blind [men] followed him, crying and saying, Have mercy on us, Son of David.
28 Und da er heimkam, traten die Blinden zu ihm. Und Jesus sprach zu ihnen: Glaubet ihr, daß ich euch solches tun kann? Da sprachen sie zu ihm: HERR, ja.
And when he was come to the house, the blind [men] came to him. And Jesus says to them, Do ye believe that I am able to do this? They say to him, Yea, Lord.
29 Da rührete er ihre Augen an und sprach: Euch geschehe nach eurem Glauben.
Then he touched their eyes, saying, According to your faith, be it unto you.
30 Und ihre Augen wurden geöffnet. Und Jesus bedräuete sie und sprach: Sehet zu, daß es niemand erfahre!
And their eyes were opened; and Jesus charged them sharply, saying, See, let no man know it.
31 Aber sie gingen aus und machten ihn ruchbar im selbigen ganzen Lande.
But they, when they were gone out, spread his name abroad in all that land.
32 Da nun diese waren hinauskommen, siehe, da brachten sie zu ihm einen Menschen, der war stumm und besessen.
But as these were going out, behold, they brought to him a dumb man possessed by a demon.
33 Und da der Teufel war ausgetrieben, redete der Stumme. Und das Volk verwunderte sich und sprach: Solches ist noch nie in Israel gesehen worden.
And the demon having been cast out, the dumb spake. And the crowds were astonished, saying, It has never been seen thus in Israel.
34 Aber die Pharisäer sprachen: Er treibt die Teufel aus durch der Teufel Obersten.
But the Pharisees said, He casts out the demons through the prince of the demons.
35 Und Jesus ging umher in alle Städte und Märkte, lehrete in ihren Schulen und predigte das Evangelium von dem Reich und heilete allerlei Seuche und allerlei Krankheit im Volke.
And Jesus went round all the cities and the villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the glad tidings of the kingdom, and healing every disease and every bodily weakness.
36 Und da er das Volk sah, jammerte ihn desselbigen; denn sie waren verschmachtet und zerstreuet wie die Schafe, die keinen Hirten haben.
But when he saw the crowds he was moved with compassion for them, because they were harassed, and cast away as sheep not having a shepherd.
37 Da sprach er zu seinen Jüngern: Die Ernte ist groß; aber wenig sind der Arbeiter.
Then saith he to his disciples, The harvest [is] great and the workmen [are] few;
38 Darum bittet den HERRN der Ernte, daß er Arbeiter in seine Ernte sende!
supplicate therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he send forth workmen unto his harvest.
