Markus 1
1 Dies ist der Anfang des Evangeliums von Jesus Christus, dem Sohn Gottes,
The beginning of the Good News about Jesus Christ.
2 wie geschrieben stehet in den Propheten: Siehe, ich sende meinen Engel vor dir her, der da bereite deinen Weg vor dir!
It is said in the Prophet Isaiah — ‘Behold! I send my Messenger before thy face; he shall prepare thy way.
3 Es ist eine Stimme eines Predigers in der Wüste: Bereitet den Weg des HERRN, machet seine Steige richtig!
The voice of one crying aloud in the Wilderness: “Make ready the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.”’
4 Johannes, der war in der Wüste, taufte und predigte von der Taufe der Buße zur Vergebung der Sünden.
And in fulfilment of this, John the Baptizer appeared in the Wilderness, proclaiming a baptism upon repentance, for the forgiveness of sins.
5 Und es ging zu ihm hinaus das ganze jüdische Land und die von Jerusalem und ließen sich alle von ihm taufen im Jordan und bekannten ihre Sünden.
The whole of Judea, as well as all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, went out to him; and they were baptized by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins.
6 Johannes aber war bekleidet mit Kamelhaaren und mit einem ledernen Gürtel um seine Lenden und aß Heuschrecken und wilden Honig.
John was clad in clothing of camels’ hair, with a belt of leather round his waist, and lived on locusts and wild honey;
7 Und predigte und sprach: Es kommt einer nach mir, der ist stärker denn ich, dem ich nicht genugsam bin, daß ich mich vor ihm bücke und die Riemen seiner Schuhe auflöse.
and he proclaimed — “There is coming after me one more powerful than I, and I am not fit even to stoop down and unfasten his sandals.
8 Ich taufe euch mit Wasser; aber er wird euch mit dem Heiligen Geist taufen.
I have baptized you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”
9 Und es begab sich zu derselbigen Zeit, daß Jesus aus Galiläa von Nazareth kam und ließ sich taufen von Johannes im Jordan.
Now about that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee, and was baptized by John in the Jordan.
10 Und alsbald stieg er aus dem Wasser und sah, daß sich der Himmel auftat, und den Geist gleichwie eine Taube herab kommen auf ihn.
And just as he was coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens rent apart, and the Spirit, like a dove, descending upon him,
11 Und da geschah eine Stimme vom Himmel: Du bist mein lieber Sohn, an dem ich Wohlgefallen habe.
and from the heavens came a voice — “Thou art my Son, the Beloved; in thee I delight.”
12 Und bald trieb ihn der Geist in die Wüste.
Immediately afterwards the Spirit drove Jesus out into the Wilderness;
13 Und war allda in der Wüste vierzig Tage und ward versucht von dem Satan und war bei den Tieren, und die Engel dieneten ihm.
and he was there in the Wilderness forty days, tempted by Satan, and among the wild beasts, while the angels ministered to him.
14 Nachdem aber Johannes überantwortet ward, kam Jesus nach Galiläa und predigte das Evangelium vom Reich Gottes
After John had been committed to prison, Jesus went to Galilee, proclaiming the Good News of God —
15 und sprach: Die Zeit ist erfüllet, und das Reich Gottes ist herbeikommen. Tut Buße und glaubt an das Evangelium!
“The time has come, and the Kingdom of God is at hand; repent, and believe the Good News.”
16 Da er aber an dem Galiläischen Meer ging, sah er Simon und Andreas, seinen Bruder, daß sie ihre Netze ins Meer warfen; denn sie waren Fischer.
As Jesus was going along the shore of the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net in the Sea, for they were fishermen.
17 Und Jesus sprach zu ihnen: Folget mir nach! Ich will euch zu Menschenfischern machen.
“Come and follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will set you to fish for men.”
18 Alsbald verließen sie ihre Netze und folgeten ihm nach.
They left their nets at once, and followed him.
19 Und da er von dannen ein wenig fürbaß ging, sah er Jakobus, den Sohn des Zebedäus, und Johannes, seinen Bruder, daß sie die Netze im Schiff flickten; und bald rief er sie.
Going on a little further, he saw James, Zebediah’s son, and his brother John, who also were in their boat mending the nets.
20 Und sie ließen ihren Vater Zebedäus im Schiff mit den Tagelöhnern und folgeten ihm nach.
Jesus at once called them, and they left their father Zebediah in the boat with the crew, and went after him.
21 Und sie gingen gen Kapernaum; und bald an den Sabbaten ging er in die Schule und lehrete.
And they walked into Capernaum. On the next Sabbath Jesus went into the Synagogue and began to teach.
22 Und sie entsetzten sich über seine Lehre; denn er lehrete gewaltiglich und nicht wie die Schriftgelehrten.
The people were amazed at his teaching, for he taught them like one who had authority, and not like the Teachers of the Law.
23 Und es war in ihrer Schule ein Mensch, besessen mit einem unsaubern Geist, der schrie
Now there was in their Synagogue at the time a man under the power of a foul spirit, who called out:
24 und sprach: Halt, was haben wir mit dir zu schaffen, Jesus von Nazareth? Du bist kommen, uns zu verderben. Ich weiß, wer du bist, der Heilige Gottes.
“What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are — the Holy One of God!”
25 Und Jesus bedräuete ihn und sprach: Verstumme und fahre aus von ihm!
But Jesus rebuked the spirit: “Be silent! Come out from him.”
26 Und der unsaubere Geist riß ihn und schrie laut und fuhr aus von ihm.
The foul spirit threw the man into a fit, and with a loud cry came out from him.
27 Und sie entsetzten sich alle, also daß sie untereinander sich befragten und sprachen: Was ist das? Was ist das für eine neue Lehre? Er gebeut mit Gewalt den unsaubern Geistern, und sie gehorchen ihm.
And they were all so amazed that they kept asking: “What is this? Strange teaching indeed! He gives his commands with authority even to the foul spirits, and they obey him!”
28 Und sein Gerücht erscholl bald umher in die Grenze Galiläas.
And the fame of Jesus spread at once in all directions, through the whole neighbourhood of Galilee.
29 Und sie gingen bald aus der Schule und kamen in das Haus des Simon und Andreas mit Jakobus und Johannes.
As soon as they had come out from the Synagogue, they went, with James and John, into the house of Simon and Andrew.
30 Und die Schwieger Simons lag und hatte das Fieber; und alsbald sagten sie ihm von ihr.
Now Simon’s mother-in-law was lying ill with fever, and they at once told Jesus about her.
31 Und er trat zu ihr und richtete sie auf und hielt sie bei der Hand; und das Fieber verließ sie bald, und sie dienete ihnen.
Jesus went up to her and, grasping her hand, raised her up; the fever left her, and she began to wait upon them.
32 Am Abend aber, da die Sonne untergegangen war, brachten sie zu ihm allerlei Kranke und Besessene.
In the evening, after sunset, the people brought to Jesus all who were ill or possessed by demons;
33 Und die ganze Stadt versammelte sich vor der Tür.
and the whole city was gathered round the door.
34 Und er half vielen Kranken, die mit mancherlei Seuchen beladen waren, und trieb viele Teufel aus und ließ die Teufel nicht reden; denn sie kannten ihn.
Jesus cured many who were ill with various diseases, and drove out many demons, and would not permit them to speak, because they knew him to be the Christ.
35 Und des Morgens vor Tag stund er auf und ging hinaus. Und Jesus ging in eine wüste Stätte und betete daselbst.
In the morning, long before daylight, Jesus rose and went out, and, going to a lonely spot, there began to pray.
36 Und Petrus mit denen, die bei ihm waren, eileten ihm nach.
But Simon and his companions hastened after him;
37 Und da sie ihn fanden, sprachen sie zu ihm: Jedermann suchet dich.
and, when they found him, they exclaimed: “Every one is looking for you!”
38 Und er sprach zu ihnen: Laßt uns in die nächsten Städte gehen, daß ich daselbst auch predige; denn dazu bin ich kommen.
But Jesus said to them: “Let us go somewhere else, into the country towns near, that I may make my proclamation in them also; for that was why I came.”
39 Und er predigte in ihren Schulen in ganz Galiläa und trieb die Teufel aus.
And he went about making his proclamation in their Synagogues all through Galilee, and driving out the demons.
40 Und es kam zu ihm ein Aussätziger, der bat ihn, knieete vor ihm und sprach zu ihm: Willst du, so kannst du mich wohl reinigen.
One day a leper came to Jesus and, falling on his knees, begged him for help. “If only you are willing,” he said, “you are able to make me clean.”
41 Und es jammerte Jesum und reckte die Hand aus, rührete ihn an und sprach: Ich will's tun; sei gereiniget!
Moved with compassion, Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, saying as he did so: “I am willing; become clean.”
42 Und als er so sprach, ging der Aussatz alsbald von ihm, und er ward rein.
Instantly the leprosy left the man, and he became clean;
43 Und Jesus bedräuete ihn und trieb ihn alsbald von sich
and then Jesus, after sternly warning him, immediately sent him away, and said to him:
44 und sprach zu ihm: Siehe zu, daß du niemand nichts sagest, sondern gehe hin und zeige dich dem Priester und opfere für deine Reinigung, was Mose geboten hat, zum Zeugnis über sie.
“Be careful not to say anything to any one; but go and show yourself to the Priest, and make the offerings for your cleansing directed by Moses, as evidence of your cure.”
45 Er aber, da er hinauskam, hub er an und sagte viel davon und machte die Geschichte ruchbar, also daß er hinfort nicht mehr konnte öffentlich in die Stadt gehen, sondern er war draußen in den wüsten Örtern. Und sie kamen zu ihm von allen Enden.
The man, however, went away, and began to speak about it publicly, and to spread the story so widely, that Jesus could no longer go openly into a town, but stayed outside in lonely places; and people came to him from every direction.
