Lukas 5
1 Es begab, sich aber, da sich das Volk zu ihm drang, zu hören das Wort Gottes, und er stund am See Genezareth
On one occasion, Jesus was standing beside the lake of Gennesaret, and the crowd was pressing in on him to listen to the word of God.
2 und sah zwei Schiffe am See stehen; die Fischer aber waren ausgetreten und wuschen ihre Netze;
He saw two boats moored beside the lake, but the fishermen had gotten out of them and were washing their nets.
3 trat er in der Schiffe eines, welches Simons war, und bat ihn, daß er's ein wenig vom Lande führete. Und er setzte sich und lehrete das Volk aus dem Schiff.
He got into one of the boats, the one that was Simon's, and asked him to put out a little way from the shore. Then he sat down and began teaching the crowds from the boat.
4 Und als er hatte aufgehört zu reden, sprach er zu Simon: Fahre auf die Höhe und werfet eure Netze aus, daß ihr einen Zug tut.
When he finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch.”
5 Und Simon antwortete und sprach zu ihm: Meister, wir haben die ganze Nacht gearbeitet und nichts gefangen; aber auf dein Wort will ich das Netz auswerfen.
Simon answered him, “Master, we have worked hard throughout the entire night and have caught nothing, but at yoʋr word I will let down the net.”
6 Und da sie das taten, beschlossen sie eine große Menge Fische; und ihr Netz zerriß.
When he and the men with him did so, they enclosed such a large number of fish that their net began to break.
7 Und sie winkten ihren Gesellen, die im andern Schiff waren, daß sie kämen und hülfen ihnen ziehen. Und sie kamen und fülleten beide Schiffe voll, also daß sie sanken.
So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and assist them, and they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink.
8 Da das Simon Petrus sah, fiel er Jesu zu den Knieen und sprach: HERR, gehe von mir hinaus; ich bin ein sündiger Mensch.
When Simon Peter saw this, he fell down at Jesus' knees and said, “Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man.”
9 Denn es war ihn ein Schrecken ankommen und alle, die mit ihm waren, über diesen Fischzug, den sie miteinander getan hatten;
For he and all who were with him were gripped with astonishment at the catch of fish they had taken,
10 desselbigengleichen auch Jakobus und Johannes, die Söhne des Zebedäus, Simons Gesellen. Und Jesus sprach zu Simon: Fürchte dich nicht; denn von nun an wirst du Menschen fangen.
and so were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. Then Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid; from now on yoʋ will be catching people.”
11 Und sie führeten die Schiffe zu Lande und verließen alles und folgeten ihm nach.
So they brought their boats to shore, left everything, and followed Jesus.
12 Und es begab sich, da er in einer Stadt war, siehe, da war ein Mann voll Aussatzes. Da der Jesum sah, fiel er auf sein Angesicht und bat ihn und sprach: HERR, willst du, so kannst du mich reinigen.
While Jesus was in one of the towns, behold, there was a man full of leprosy. When the man saw Jesus, he fell on his face and begged him, “Lord, if yoʋ are willing, yoʋ can make me clean.”
13 Und er streckte die Hand aus und rührete ihn an und sprach: Ich will's tun; sei gereiniget! Und alsbald ging der Aussatz von ihm.
So Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be made clean.” Immediately the leprosy left him.
14 Und er gebot ihm daß, er's niemand sagen sollte; sondern gehe hin und zeige dich dem Priester und opfere für deine Reinigung, wie Mose geboten hat, ihnen zum Zeugnis.
Then Jesus ordered him to tell no one, but said, “Go show yoʋrself to the priest, and make an offering for yoʋr cleansing, just as Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”
15 Es kam aber die Sage von ihm je weiter aus; und kam viel Volks zusammen, daß sie höreten und durch ihn gesund würden von ihren Krankheiten.
But the news about Jesus spread even more, and large crowds would gather together to hear him and to be healed by him of their infirmities.
16 Er aber entwich in die Wüste und betete.
But he would often withdraw to desolate places and pray.
17 Und es begab, sich auf einen Tag, daß er lehrete, und saßen da die Pharisäer und Schriftgelehrten, die da kommen waren aus allen Märkten in Galiläa und Judäa und von Jerusalem. Und die Kraft des HERRN ging von ihm und half jedermann.
On one of those days, as he was teaching, some Pharisees and teachers of the law were sitting there. They had come from every village of Galilee, Judea, and Jerusalem, and the power of the Lord was present to heal the people.
18 Und siehe, etliche Männer brachten einen Menschen auf einem Bette, der war gichtbrüchig; und sie suchten, wie sie ihn hineinbrächten und vor ihn legten.
And behold, some men brought on a bed a man who was paralyzed. They were trying to bring him in and place him before Jesus.
19 Und da sie vor dem Volk nicht fanden, an welchem Ort sie ihn hineinbrächten, stiegen sie auf das Dach und ließen ihn durch die Ziegel hernieder mit dem Bettlein, mitten unter sie, vor Jesus.
But when they could not find a way to bring him in because of the crowd, they went up on the housetop and let him down through the tiles, together with his mat, into the middle of the crowd in front of Jesus.
20 Und da er ihren Glauben sah, sprach er zu ihm: Mensch, deine Sünden sind dir vergeben.
When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the man, “Man, yoʋr sins are forgiven yoʋ.”
21 Und die Schriftgelehrten und Pharisäer fingen an zu denken und sprachen: Wer ist der, daß er Gotteslästerung redet? Wer kann Sünden vergeben denn allein Gott?
But the scribes and the Pharisees began to question what Jesus said: “Who is this that speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone?”
22 Da aber Jesus ihre Gedanken merkte, antwortete er und sprach zu ihnen: Was denket ihr in euren Herzen?
Aware of their thoughts, Jesus answered them, “Why are you questioning in your hearts?
23 Welches ist leichter zu sagen: Dir sind deine Sünden vergeben? oder zu sagen: Stehe auf und wandle?
Which is easier, to say, ‘Yoʋr sins are forgiven yoʋ,’ or to say, ‘Rise and walk’?
24 Auf daß ihr aber wisset, daß des Menschen Sohn Macht hat auf Erden Sünden zu vergeben, sprach er zu dem Gichtbrüchigen: Ich sage dir, stehe auf und hebe dein Bettlein auf; und gehe heim.
But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”—he said to the paralyzed man—“I say to yoʋ, rise, pick up yoʋr mat, and go to yoʋr house.”
25 Und alsbald stund er auf vor ihren Augen und hub das Bettlein auf, darauf er gelegen war, und ging heim und preisete Gott.
Immediately the man rose up before them, picked up what he had been lying on, and went to his house, glorifying God.
26 Und sie entsetzten sich alle und preiseten Gott und wurden voll Furcht und sprachen: Wir haben heute seltsame Dinge gesehen.
Amazement seized them all, and they too began glorifying God. Filled with awe, they said, “We have seen extraordinary things today.”
27 Und danach ging er aus und sah einen Zöllner mit Namen Levi am Zoll sitzen und sprach zu ihm: Folge mir nach!
After this Jesus went out and saw a tax collector named Levi sitting at the tax booth. Jesus said to him, “Follow me,”
28 Und er verließ alles, stund auf und folgete ihm nach.
and leaving everything behind, Levi rose and followed him.
29 Und Levi richtete ihm ein groß Mahl zu in seinem Hause; und viel Zöllner und andere saßen mit ihm zu Tisch.
Then Levi gave a great banquet for Jesus in his house, and there was a large crowd of tax collectors and others reclining at the table with them.
30 Und die Schriftgelehrten und Pharisäer murreten wider seine Jünger und sprachen: Warum esset und trinket ihr mit den Zöllnern und Sündern?
But the scribes of the people and the Pharisees were grumbling at his disciples, saying, “Why are you eating and drinking with tax collectors and sinners?”
31 Und Jesus antwortete und sprach zu ihnen: Die Gesunden bedürfen des Arztes nicht, sondern die Kranken.
Jesus answered them, “It is not those who are well who have need of a physician, but those who are sick.
32 Ich bin kommen, zu rufen die Sünder zur Buße und nicht die Gerechten.
I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”
33 Sie aber sprachen zu ihm: Warum fasten Johannes Jünger so oft und beten so viel, desselbigengleichen der Pharisäer Jünger, aber deine Jünger essen und trinken?
Then they said to him, “Why is it that the disciples of John often fast and offer prayers, and likewise the disciples of the Pharisees, but yoʋrs eat and drink?”
34 Er sprach aber zu ihnen: Ihr möget die Hochzeitleute nicht zum Fasten treiben, solange der Bräutigam bei ihnen ist.
Jesus said to them, “Can you make the bridegroom's attendants fast while the bridegroom is with them?
35 Es wird aber die Zeit kommen, daß der Bräutigam von ihnen genommen wird; dann werden sie fasten.
But those days are coming, and when the bridegroom is taken away from them, they will fast in those days.”
36 Und er sagte zu ihnen ein Gleichnis: Niemand flicket einen Lappen vom neuen Kleid auf ein alt Kleid; wo anders, so reißt das neue, und der Lappen vom neuen reimet sich nicht auf das alte.
He also told them a parable: “No one puts a patch from a new garment on an old garment. For not only would he tear the new garment, but the patch from the new garment would not match the old garment.
37 Und niemand fasset Most in alte Schläuche; wo anders, so zerreißet der Most die Schläuche und wird verschüttet, und die Schläuche kommen um.
And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. For the new wine would burst the wineskins and would itself be spilled, and the wineskins would be ruined.
38 Sondern den Most soll man in neue Schläuche fassen, so werden sie beide behalten.
But new wine must be put into new wineskins, and then both are preserved.
39 Und niemand ist, der vom alten trinkt und wolle bald des neuen; denn er spricht: Der alte ist milder.
And no one after drinking old wine immediately desires new wine, for he says, ‘The old is better.’”
