Job 40
1 Und der HERR antwortete Hiob und sprach:
Moreover, the LORD answered Job, and said,
2 Wer mit dem Allmächtigen hadern will, soll's ihm der nicht beibringen? Und wer Gott tadelt, soll's der nicht verantworten?
Shall he that contendeth with the Almighty instruct [him]? he that reproveth God, let him answer it.
3 Hiob aber antwortete dem HERRN und sprach:
Then Job answered the LORD, and said,
4 Siehe, ich bin zu leichtfertig gewesen, was soll ich antworten? Ich will meine Hand auf meinen Mund legen.
Behold, I am vile; what shall I answer thee? I will lay my hand upon my mouth.
5 Ich habe einmal geredet, darum will ich nicht mehr antworten; hernach will ich's nicht mehr tun.
Once have I spoken; but I will not answer: yes, twice; but I will proceed no further.
6 Und der HERR antwortete Hiob aus einem Wetter und sprach:
Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said,
7 Gürte wie ein Mann deine Lenden; ich will dich fragen, lehre mich!
Gird up thy loins now like a man: I will demand of thee, and declare thou to me.
8 Solltest du mein Urteil zunichte machen und mich verdammen, daß du gerecht seiest?
Wilt thou also disannul my judgment? wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be righteous?
9 Hast du einen Arm wie Gott und kannst mit gleicher Stimme donnern, als er tut?
Hast thou an arm like God? or canst thou thunder with a voice like his?
10 Schmücke dich mit Pracht und erhebe dich; zeuch dich löblich und herrlich an!
Deck thyself now [with] majesty and excellence; and array thyself with glory and beauty.
11 Streue aus den Zorn deines Grimms; schaue an die Hochmütigen, wo sie sind, und demütige sie.
Cast abroad the rage of thy wrath: and behold every one [that is] proud, and abase him.
12 Ja, schaue die Hochmütigen, wo sie sind, und beuge sie und mache die Gottlosen dünne, wo sie sind.
Look on every one [that is] proud, [and] bring him low; and tread down the wicked in their place.
13 Verscharre sie miteinander in der Erde und versenke ihre Pracht ins Verborgene,
Hide them in the dust together; bind their faces in secret.
14 so will ich dir auch bekennen, daß dir deine rechte Hand helfen kann.
Then will I also confess to thee that thy own right hand can save thee.
15 Siehe, der Behemoth, den ich neben dir gemacht habe, frißt Heu wie ein Ochse.
Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox.
16 Siehe, seine Kraft ist in seinen Lenden und sein Vermögen im Nabel seines Bauchs.
Lo now, his strength [is] in his loins, and his force [is] in the navel of his belly.
17 Sein Schwanz strecket sich wie eine Zeder, die Adern seiner Scham starren wie ein Ast.
He moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his male organs are wrapped together.
18 Seine Knochen sind wie fest Erz, seine Gebeine sind wie eiserne Stäbe.
His bones [are as] strong pieces of brass; his bones [are] like bars of iron.
19 Er ist der Anfang der Wege Gottes; der ihn gemacht hat, der greift ihn an mit seinem Schwert.
He [is] the chief of the ways of God: he that made him can make his sword to approach [him].
20 Die Berge tragen ihm Kräuter, und alle wilden Tiere spielen daselbst.
Surely the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play.
21 Er liegt gern im Schatten, im Rohr und im Schlamm verborgen.
He lieth under the shady trees, in the covert of the reed, and fens.
22 Das Gebüsch bedeckt ihn mit seinem Schatten, und die Bachweiden bedecken ihn.
The shady trees cover him [with] their shadow; the willows of the brook encompass him.
23 Siehe, er schluckt in sich den Strom und achtet es nicht groß; läßt sich dünken, er wolle den Jordan mit seinem Munde ausschöpfen.
Behold, he drinketh up a river, [and] hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth.
24 Noch fähet man ihn mit seinen eigenen Augen, und durch Fallstricke durchbohret man ihm seine Nase.
He taketh it with his eyes: [his] nose pierceth through snares.
