Jeremia 29

1 Dies sind die Worte im Briefe, den der Prophet Jeremia sandte von Jerusalem zu den übrigen Ältesten die weggeführt waren, und zu den Priestern und Propheten und zum ganzen Volk, das Nebukadnezar von Jerusalem hatte weggeführt gen Babel

These are the words in the scroll that Jeremiah the prophet sent out from Jerusalem to the remaining elders among the captives and to the priests, prophets, and all the people that Nebuchadnezzar exiled from Jerusalem to Babylon.

2 (nachdem der König Jechanja und die Königin mit den Kämmerern und Fürsten in Juda und Jerusalem samt den Zimmerleuten und Schmieden zu Jerusalem weg waren),

This was after Jehoiachin the king, the queen mother, and the high officials, the leaders of Judah and Jerusalem, and the craftsmen had been sent away from Jerusalem.

3 durch Eleasa, den Sohn Saphans, und Gemarja, den Sohn Hilkias, welche Zedekia, der König Judas, sandte gen Babel zu Nebukadnezar, dem Könige zu Babel, und sprach:

He sent this scroll by the hand of Elasah son of Shapan and Gemariah son of Hilkiah whom Zedekiah, king of Judah, had sent to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon.

4 So spricht der HERR Zebaoth, der Gott Israels, zu allen Gefangenen, die ich habe von Jerusalem lassen wegführen gen Babel:

The scroll said, “Yahweh of hosts, God of Israel, says this to all the captives whom I caused to be exiled from Jerusalem to Babylon,

5 Bauet Häuser, darin ihr wohnen möget; pflanzet Gärten, daraus ihr die Früchte essen möget;

'Build houses and live in them. Plant gardens and eat their fruit.

6 nehmet Weiber und zeuget Söhne und Töchter; nehmet euren Söhnen Weiber und gebet euren Töchtern Männer, daß sie Söhne und Töchter zeugen; mehret euch daselbst, daß euer nicht wenig sei.

Take wives and give birth to sons and daughters. Then take wives for your sons, and give your daughters to husbands. Let them give birth to sons and daughters and increase there so you do not become too few.

7 Suchet der Stadt Bestes, dahin ich euch habe lassen wegführen, und betet für sie zum HERRN; denn wenn's ihr wohlgehet, so gehet es euch auch wohl.

Seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be exiled, and intercede with me on its behalf since there will be peace for you if it is at peace.'

8 Denn so spricht der HERR Zebaoth, der Gott Israels: Laßt euch die Propheten, die bei euch sind, und die Wahrsager nicht betrügen und gehorchet euren Träumen nicht, die euch träumen;

For Yahweh of hosts, God of Israel, says this, 'Do not let your prophets who are in your midst and your diviners deceive you, and do not listen to the dreams that you yourselves are having.

9 denn sie weissagen euch falsch in meinem Namen. Ich habe sie nicht gesandt, spricht der HERR.

For they are prophesying deceitfully to you in my name. I did not send them—this is Yahweh's declaration.'

10 Denn so spricht der HERR: Wenn zu Babel siebenzig Jahre aus sind, so will ich euch besuchen und will mein gnädiges Wort über euch erwecken, daß ich euch wieder an diesen Ort bringe.

For Yahweh says this, 'When Babylon has ruled you for seventy years, I will help you and carry out my good word for you to bring you back to this place.

11 Denn ich weiß wohl, was ich für Gedanken über euch habe, spricht der HERR, nämlich Gedanken des Friedens und nicht des Leides, daß ich euch gebe das Ende, des ihr wartet.

For I myself know the plans that I have for you—this is Yahweh's declaration—plans for peace and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

12 Und ihr werdet mich anrufen und hingehen und mich bitten, und ich will euch erhören.

Then you will call to me, and go and pray to me, and I will listen to you.

13 Ihr werdet mich suchen und finden. Denn so ihr mich von ganzem Herzen suchen werdet,

For you will seek me and find me, since you will seek me with all your heart.

14 so will ich mich von euch finden lassen, spricht der HERR, und will euer Gefängnis wenden und euch sammeln aus allen Völkern und von allen Orten, dahin ich euch verstoßen habe, spricht der HERR; und will euch wiederum an diesen Ort bringen, von dannen ich euch habe lassen wegführen.

Then I will be found by you—this is Yahweh's declaration—and I will bring back your fortunes; I will gather you from all the nations and places where I scattered you—this is Yahweh's declaration—for I will bring you back to the place from where I caused you to be exiled.'

15 Denn ihr meinet, der HERR habe euch zu Babel Propheten auferweckt.

Since you said that Yahweh has raised up prophets for us in Babylon,

16 Denn also spricht der HERR vom Könige, der auf Davids Stuhl sitzt, und von allem Volk, das in dieser Stadt wohnet, nämlich von euren Brüdern, die nicht mit euch hinaus gefangen gezogen sind;

Yahweh says this to the king who sits on the throne of David and to all the people who are staying in that city, your brothers who have not gone out with you into captivity—

17 ja, also spricht der HERR Zebaoth: Siehe, ich will Schwert, Hunger und Pestilenz unter sie schicken und will mit ihnen umgehen wie mit den bösen Feigen, da einem vor ekelt zu essen;

Yahweh of hosts says this, 'See, I am about to send sword, famine, and disease on them. For I will make them like rotten figs that are too bad to be eaten.

18 und will hinter ihnen her sein mit Schwert, Hunger und Pestilenz; und will sie in keinem Königreich auf Erden bleiben lassen, daß sie sollen zum Fluch, zum Wunder, zum Hohn und zum Spott unter allen Völkern werden, dahin ich sie verstoßen werde,

Then I will pursue them with sword, famine, and plague and make them a horrible sight to all the kingdoms on earth—a horror, an object of curses and hissing, and a shameful thing among all the nations where I scattered her.

19 darum daß sie meinen Worten nicht gehorchen, spricht der HERR, der ich meine Knechte, die Propheten, zu euch stets gesandt habe; aber ihr wolltet nicht hören, spricht der HERR.

This is because they did not listen to my word—this is Yahweh's declaration—that I sent out to them through my servants the prophets. I repeatedly sent them, but you would not listen—this is Yahweh's declaration.'

20 Ihr aber alle, die ihr gefangen seid weggeführet, die ich von Jerusalem habe gen Babel ziehen lassen, höret des HERRN Wort!

So you yourselves listen to the word of Yahweh, all you exiles whom he has sent out from Jerusalem to Babylon,

21 So spricht der HERR Zebaoth, der Gott Israels, wider Ahab, den Sohn Kolajas, und wider Zedekia, den Sohn Masejas, die euch falsch weissagen in meinem Namen: Siehe, ich will sie geben in die Hände Nebukadnezars, des Königs zu Babel, der soll sie schlagen lassen vor euren Augen,

'Yahweh of hosts, God of Israel, says this about Ahab son of Kolaiah and Zedekiah son of Maaseiah, who prophesy falsely to you in my name: See, I am about to put them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon. He will kill them before your eyes.

22 daß man wird aus denselbigen einen Fluch machen unter allen Gefangenen aus Juda, die zu Babel sind, und sagen: Der HERR tue dir wie Zedekia und Ahab, welche der König zu Babel auf Feuer braten ließ,

Then a curse will be spoken about these persons by all the captives of Judah in Babylon. The curse will say: May Yahweh make you like Zedekiah and Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in fire.

23 darum daß sie eine Torheit in Israel begingen und trieben Ehebruch mit der andern Weibern und predigten falsch in meinem Namen, das ich ihnen nicht befohlen hatte. Solches weiß ich und zeuge es, spricht der HERR.

This will happen because of the shameful things they did in Israel when they committed adultery with their neighbor's wives and declared false words in my name, things that I never commanded them to say. For I am the one who knows; I am the witness—this is Yahweh's declaration.'”

24 Und wider Semaja von Nehalam sollst du sagen:

“About Shemaiah the Nehelamite, say this:

25 So spricht der HERR Zebaoth, der Gott Israels: Darum daß du unter deinem Namen hast Briefe gesandt zu allem Volk, das zu Jerusalem ist, und zum Priester Zephanja, dem Sohn Masejas, und zu allen Priestern und gesagt:

'Yahweh of hosts, God of Israel, says this: Because you sent out letters in your own name to all the people in Jerusalem, to Zephaniah son of Maaseiah the priest, and to all the priests, and said,

26 Der HERR hat dich zum Priester gesetzt anstatt des Priesters Jehojada, daß ihr sollt Aufseher sein im Hause des HERRN über alle Wahnsinnigen und Weissager, daß du sie in Kerker und Stock legest.

“Yahweh has made you priest instead of Jehoiada the priest, for you to be in charge of Yahweh's house. You are in control of all the people who rave and make themselves into prophets. You should put them in stocks and chains.

27 Nun, warum strafst du denn nicht Jeremia von Anathoth, der euch weissaget,

So now, why have you not rebuked Jeremiah of Anathoth, who makes himself into a prophet against you?

28 darum daß er zu uns gen Babel geschickt hat und lassen sagen: Es wird noch lange währen; bauet Häuser, darin ihr wohnet, und pflanzet Gärten, daß ihr die Früchte davon esset.

For he has sent to us in Babylon and said, 'It will be a long time. Build houses and live in them, and plant gardens and eat their fruit.”'”

29 Denn Zephanja, der Priester, hatte denselben Brief gelesen und den Propheten Jeremia lassen zuhören.

Zephaniah the priest read this letter in the hearing of Jeremiah the prophet.

30 Darum geschah des HERRN Wort zu Jeremia und sprach:

Then the word of Yahweh came to Jeremiah, saying,

31 Sende hin zu allen Gefangenen und laß ihnen sagen: So spricht der HERR wider Semaja von Nehalam: Darum daß euch Semaja weissaget, und ich habe ihn doch nicht gesandt, und macht, daß ihr auf Lügen vertrauet,

“Send word to all the exiles and say, 'Yahweh says this about Shemaiah the Nehelamite: Because Shemaiah has prophesied to you when I myself did not send him, and he has led you to believe lies,

32 darum spricht der HERR also: Siehe, ich will Semaja von Nehalam heimsuchen samt seinem Samen, daß der Seinen keiner soll unter diesem Volk bleiben, und soll das Gute nicht sehen, das ich meinem Volk tun will, spricht der HERR; denn er hat sie mit seiner Rede vom HERRN abgewendet.

therefore Yahweh says this: Look, I am about to punish Shemaiah the Nehelamite and his descendants. There will not be a man for him to stay among this people. He will not see the good that I will do for my people—this is Yahweh's declaration—for he has proclaimed rebellion against Yahweh.'”
