2 Chronik 18

1 Und Josaphat hatte großen Reichtum und Ehre und befreundete sich mit Ahab.

Now Jehoshaphat had riches and honor in abundance; and he joined affinity with Ahab.

2 Und nach zweien Jahren zog er hinab zu Ahab gen Samaria. Und Ahab ließ für ihn und für das Volk, das bei ihm war, viel Schafe und Ochsen schlachten. Und er beredete ihn, daß er hinauf gen Ramoth in Gilead zöge.

After certain years he went down to Ahab to Samaria. Ahab killed sheep and cattle for him in abundance, and for the people who were with him, and moved him to go up with him to Ramoth Gilead.

3 Und Ahab, der König Israels, sprach zu Josaphat, dem Könige Judas: Zeuch mit mir gen Ramoth in Gilead! Er sprach zu ihm: Ich bin wie du, und mein Volk wie dein Volk, wir wollen mit dir in den Streit.

Ahab king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat king of Judah, "Will you go with me to Ramoth Gilead?" He answered him, "I am as you are, and my people as your people. We will be with you in the war."

4 Aber Josaphat sprach zum Könige Israels: Lieber, frage heute des HERRN Wort!

Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, "Please inquire first for the word of the LORD."

5 Und der König Israels sammelte der Propheten vierhundert Mann und sprach zu ihnen: Sollen wir gen Ramoth in Gilead ziehen in Streit, oder soll ich's lassen anstehen? Sie sprachen: Zeuch hinauf, Gott wird sie in des Königs Hand geben.

Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, four hundred men, and said to them, "Shall we go to Ramoth Gilead to battle, or shall I refrain?" They said, "Go up; for God will deliver it into the hand of the king."

6 Josaphat aber sprach: Ist nicht irgend noch ein Prophet des HERRN hie, daß wir von ihm fragten?

But Jehoshaphat said, "Isn't there here a prophet of the LORD besides, that we may inquire of him?"

7 Der König Israels sprach zu Josaphat: Es ist noch ein Mann, daß man den HERRN von ihm frage; aber ich bin ihm gram, denn er weissaget über mich kein Gutes, sondern allewege Böses, nämlich Micha, der Sohn Jemlas. Josaphat sprach: Der König rede nicht also!

The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "There is yet one man by whom we may inquire of the LORD; but I hate him, for he never prophesies good concerning me, but always evil. He is Micaiah the son of Imla." Jehoshaphat said, "Do not let the king say so."

8 Und der König Israels rief seiner Kämmerer einen und sprach: Bringe eilend her Micha, den Sohn Jemlas!

Then the king of Israel called an officer, and said, "Get Micaiah the son of Imla quickly."

9 Und der König Israels und Josaphat, der König Judas, saßen ein jeglicher auf seinem Stuhl, mit Kleidern angezogen; sie saßen aber auf dem Platz vor der Tür, am Tor zu Samaria; und alle Propheten weissagten vor ihnen.

Now the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah sat each on his throne, arrayed in their robes, and they were sitting in an open place at the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets were prophesying before them.

10 Und Zidekia, der Sohn Knaenas, machte ihm eiserne Hörner und sprach: So spricht der HERR: Hiemit wirst du die Syrer stoßen, bis du sie aufreibest.

Zedekiah the son of Kenaanah made him horns of iron, and said, "Thus says the LORD, 'With these you shall push the Arameans, until they are consumed.'"

11 Und alle Propheten weissagten auch also und sprachen: Zeuch hinauf, es wird dir gelingen; der HERR wird sie geben in des Königs Hand.

All the prophets prophesied so, saying, "Go up to Ramoth Gilead, and prosper; for the LORD will deliver it into the hand of the king."

12 Und der Bote, der hingegangen war, Micha zu rufen, redete mit ihm und sprach: Siehe, der Propheten Reden sind einträchtig gut für den König; Lieber, laß dein Wort auch sein wie der einen, und rede Gutes.

The messenger who went to call Micaiah spoke to him, saying, "Look, the words of the prophets declare good to the king with one mouth. Let your word therefore, please be like one of theirs, and speak good."

13 Micha aber sprach: So wahr der HERR lebet, was mein Gott sagen wird, das will ich reden.

Micaiah said, "As the LORD lives, whatever my God says to me, that I will speak."

14 Und da er zum Könige kam, sprach der König zu ihm: Micha, sollen wir gen Ramoth in Gilead in Streit ziehen, oder soll ich's lassen anstehen? Er sprach: Ja, ziehet hinauf, es wird euch gelingen; es wird euch in eure Hände gegeben werden.

When he had come to the king, the king said to him, "Micaiah, shall we go to Ramoth Gilead to battle, or shall I refrain?" He said, "Go up, and prosper. They shall be delivered into your hand."

15 Aber der König sprach zu ihm: Ich beschwöre dich noch einmal, daß du mir nichts sagest denn die Wahrheit im Namen des HERRN!

The king said to him, "How many times shall I adjure you that you speak to me nothing but the truth in the name of the LORD?"

16 Da sprach er: Ich sah das ganze Israel zerstreuet auf den Bergen wie Schafe, die keinen Hirten haben. Und der HERR sprach: Haben diese keine HERREN? Es kehre ein jeglicher wieder heim mit Frieden!

He said, "I saw all Israel scattered on the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd. The LORD said, 'These have no master. Let them return every man to his house in peace.'"

17 Da sprach der König Israels zu Josaphat: Sagte ich dir nicht, er weissaget über mich kein Gutes, sondern Böses?

The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "Did I not tell you that he would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil?"

18 Er aber sprach: Darum höret des HERRN Wort: Ich sah den HERRN sitzen auf seinem Stuhl, und alles himmlische Heer stund zu seiner Rechten und zu seiner Linken.

Micaiah said, "Therefore hear the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on his throne, and all the army of heaven standing on his right hand and on his left.

19 Und der HERR sprach: Wer will Ahab, den König Israels, überreden, daß er hinaufziehe und falle zu Ramoth in Gilead? Und da dieser so und jener sonst sagte,

The LORD said, 'Who shall entice Ahab king of Israel, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth Gilead?' One spoke saying in this way, and another saying in that way.

20 kam ein Geist hervor und trat vor den HERRN und sprach: Ich will ihn überreden. Der HERR aber sprach zu ihm: Womit?

A spirit came out, stood before the LORD, and said, 'I will entice him.' "The LORD said to him, 'How?'

21 Er sprach: Ich will ausfahren und ein falscher Geist sein in aller seiner Propheten Munde. Und er sprach: Du wirst ihn überreden und wirst's ausrichten; fahre hin und tue also!

"He said, 'I will go forth, and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.' "He said, 'You will entice him, and will prevail also. Go forth, and do so.'

22 Nun siehe, der HERR hat einen falschen Geist gegeben in dieser deiner Propheten Mund, und der HERR hat Böses wider dich geredet.

"Now therefore, look, the LORD has put a lying spirit in the mouth of these your prophets; and the LORD has pronounced disaster concerning you."

23 Da trat herzu Zidekia, der Sohn Knaenas, und schlug Micha auf den Backen und sprach: Durch welchen Weg ist der Geist des HERRN von mir gegangen, daß er durch dich redet?

Then Zedekiah the son of Kenaanah came near, and struck Micaiah on the cheek, and said, "Which way did the Spirit of the LORD go from me to speak to you?"

24 Micha sprach: Siehe, du wirst's sehen, wenn du in die innerste Kammer kommest, daß du dich versteckest.

Micaiah said, "Look, you shall see on that day, when you shall go into an inner room to hide yourself."

25 Aber der König Israels sprach: Nehmet Micha und lasset ihn bleiben bei Amon, dem Stadtvogt, und bei Joas, dem Sohn des Königs,

The king of Israel said, "Take Micaiah, and carry him back to Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king's son;

26 und saget: So spricht der König: Leget diesen ins Gefängnis und speiset ihn mit Brot und Wasser der Trübsal, bis ich wiederkomme mit Frieden.

and say, 'Thus says the king, "Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I return in peace."'"

27 Micha sprach: Kommst du mit Frieden wieder, so hat der HERR nicht durch mich geredet. Und er sprach: Höret, ihr Völker alle!

Micaiah said, "If you return at all in peace, the LORD has not spoken by me." He said, "Listen, you peoples, all of you."

28 Also zog hinauf der König Israels und Josaphat, der König Judas, gen Ramoth in Gilead.

So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramoth Gilead.

29 Und der König Israels sprach zu Josaphat: Ich will mich verkleiden und in Streit kommen; du aber habe deine Kleider an. Und der König Israels verkleidete sich, und sie kamen in den Streit.

The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "I will disguise myself, and go into the battle; but you put on your robes." So the king of Israel disguised himself; and they went into the battle.

30 Aber der König zu Syrien hatte seinen obersten Reitern geboten: Ihr sollt nicht streiten weder gegen klein noch gegen groß, sondern gegen den König Israels alleine.

Now the king of Aram had commanded the captains of his chariots, saying, "Fight neither with small nor great, except only with the king of Israel."

31 Da nun die obersten Reiter Josaphat sahen, dachten sie, es ist der König Israels, und zogen umher, auf ihn zu streiten. Aber Josaphat schrie; und der HERR half ihm, und Gott wandte sie von ihm.

It happened, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, "It is the king of Israel." Therefore they turned around to fight against him. But Jehoshaphat cried out, and the LORD helped him; and God moved them to depart from him.

32 Denn da die obersten Reiter sahen, daß er nicht der König Israels war, wandten sie sich von ihm ab.

It happened, when the captains of the chariots saw that it was not the king of Israel, that they turned back from pursuing him.

33 Es spannete aber ein Mann seinen Bogen ohngefähr und schoß den König Israels zwischen den Panzer und Hengel. Da sprach er zu seinem Fuhrmann: Wende deine Hand und führe mich aus dem Heer; denn ich bin wund.

A certain man drew his bow at random, and struck the king of Israel between the joints of the armor. Therefore he said to the driver of the chariot, "Turn your hand, and carry me out of the army; for I am severely wounded."

34 Und der Streit nahm zu des Tages. Und der König Israels stund auf seinem Wagen gegen die Syrer bis an den Abend und starb, da die Sonne unterging.

The battle increased that day. However the king of Israel propped himself up in his chariot against the Arameans until the evening; and about the time of the going down of the sun, he died.
